벨링스하우젠 해의 동쪽 대륙붕과 대륙대의 코어의 점토광물을 이용한 기원지 연구 (Sediment Provenance using Clay Mineral in the Continental Shelf and Rise of the Eastern Bellingshausen Sea, Antarctica)

  • 남극 벨링스하우젠 해(Bellingshausen Sea)의 동쪽 대륙붕과 대륙대에 위치한 중력코어(BS17-GC15, BS17-GC04)를 2017년 ANA07D 탐사 동안 획득하였다. 두 코어를 이용하여 벨링스하우젠 해의 해양 퇴적물 내 빙기-간빙기에 따른 점토광물의 분포와 성인을 조사하였다. 두 코어에 대해 퇴적상의 특성을 기술하고, 입도 분석, X선 회절 분석을 실시하여 점토광물의 조성 변화를 관찰하였다. 퇴적학적 특성에 따라 BS17-GC15 코어는 세 개의 퇴적상들로 구분되며 이들은 마지막 빙하기, 전이퇴적상, 간빙기 시기의 퇴적작용에 의해 형성된 것으로 보인다. BS17-GC04 코어는 하부에 빙하기저부 기원의 저탁류의 조합으로 퇴적되는 저탁류 퇴적층과 니질층이 관찰되고, 위쪽으로 올라갈수록 실트질 엽층이 나타나며 상부에서는 생물교란 흔적이 포함된 반원양성 니질층이 나타난다. 퇴적상이 변함에 따라 점토광물의 함량비도 다르게 나타난다. BS17-GC15 코어는 시기에 따라 일라이트가 평균 28.4~44.5 %로 가장 큰 변화를 보이고, 스멕타이트는 빙하기 때 평균 31.1 %에서 20 %로 감소하였다가 간빙기때 25.1 %로 다시 증가하는 양상을 보였다. 녹니석과 카올리나이트의 합은 빙하기 때 평균 40.5 %에서 간빙기 때 30.4 %로 감소하였다. 빙하기 동안 퇴적물이 남극 반도로부터 유입되기 때문에 높은 일라이트와 녹니석 함량을 보인다. 반면, 대륙대에 위치한 BS17-GC04 코어는 빙하기 때 스멕타이트의 함량이 평균 47.2 %에서 상부로 갈수록 평균 20.6 %까지 감소하고 일라이트는 하부에서 평균 21.3 %에서 43.2 %로 증가한다. 빙하기 동안의 높은 스멕타이트 함량은 근처의 스멕타이트가 풍부한 퇴적물인 피터 1세 섬에서 퇴적물이 남극순환류에 의해 운반되었을 것으로 예상되고, 그 이후 간빙기에는 상대적으로 서쪽으로 흐르는 등수심 해류의 영향으로 동쪽의 벨링스하우젠 해의 대륙붕 퇴적물로부터 일라이트와 클로라이트가 풍부한 퇴적물이 운반되었을 것이라 예상된다.

Susceptible and Protective Associations of HLA Alleles and Haplotypes with Cervical Cancer in South India

  • Background: Human leukocyte antigen (HLA) genes have been implicated in cervical cancer in several populations. Objectives: To study the predispositions of HLA alleles/haplotypes with cervical cancer. Materials and Methods: Clinically diagnosed and PAP smear confirmed cervical cancer patients (n 48) and age matched controls (n 47) were genotyped for HLA-A,-B,-DRB1* and DQB1* alleles by PCR-SSP methods. Results: The frequencies of alleles DRB1*04 (OR=2.57), DRB1*15 (OR=2.04), DQB1*0301 (OR=4.91), DQB1*0601 (OR=2.21), B*15 (OR=13.03) and B*07 (OR=6.23) were higher in cervical cancer patients than in the controls. The frequencies of alleles DRB1*10 (OR=0.22) and B*35 (OR=0.19) were decreased. Strong disease associations were observed for haplotypes DRB1*15-DQB1*0601 (OR=6.56; p< $3.5{\times}10^{-4}$), DRB1*14-DQB1*0501 (OR=6.51; p<0.039) and A*11-B*07 (OR=3.95; p<0.005). The reduced frequencies of haplotypes DRB1*10-DQB1*0501 (OR=0.45), A*03-B*35 (OR=0.25) and A*11-B*35 (OR= 0.06) among patients suggested a protective association. HLA-C* typing of 8 patients who possessed a unique three locus haplotype 'A*11-B*07-DRB1*04' (8/48; 16.66%; OR=6.51; p<0.039) revealed the presence of a four locus haplotype 'A*11-B*07-C*01-DRB1*04' in patients (4/8; 50%). Amino acid variation analysis of susceptible allele DQB1*0601 suggested 'tyrosine' at positions ${\beta}9$ and ${\beta}37$ and tyrosine-non-tyrosine genotype combination increased the risk of cervical cancer. Conclusions: Strong susceptible associations were documented for HLA alleles B*15, B*07, DRB1*04, DRB1*15, DQB1*0301, DQB1*0601 and haplotypes DRB1*15-DQB1*0601 and DRB1*14-DQB1*0501. Further, protective associations were evidenced for alleles B*35 and DRB1*10 and haplotypes A*11-B*35 and DRB1*10-DQB1*0501 with cervical cancer in South India.

Magnetic and Magnetocaloric Properties of (Gd1-xCex)Al2(x = 0, 0.25, 0.5, 0.75) Compounds

  • The magnetic and magnetocaloric properties of $Gd_{1-x}Ce_xAl_2$ (x = 0, 0.25, 0.5, 0.75) intermetallic compounds alloys have been investigated in detail for the first time. XRD patterns indicated that all the samples were crystallized in a single phase with $MgCu_2$-type structure (Laves phase). Ce substitution for Gd increased the lattice parameters and decreased the Curie temperature from 163 K for x = 0 to 37 K for x = 0.75. A maximum entropy change of 3.82 J/kg K was observed when a 2 T magnetic field was applied to the x = 0 sample. This entropy change decreased with increasing Ce content to 2.04 J/kg K for the x = 0.75 sample.

Fabrication of Potassium Ion Source and its Emission Characteristics

  • In this study, we fabricated the $K^+$ ion source for the various purposes and investigated the emission characteristics. The fabricated $K^+$ ion source was painted in the tungsten filament to make filament type ion source. The RGA spectra show that the filament type $K^+$ ion source has a good out gassing character, so it can be used in the ultra-high vacuum system. The maximum $K^+$ ion current was 20 mA when filament temperature was 1410 K and filament potential was 50 V. When the filament temperature was 1070 K, the initial beam current was 50 mA and decreased only by 2% during 4 hours. The emitting energy was measured to be 2.04 eV. This low value means that the fabricated specimen is a good $K^+$ ion source. We conclude that this filament type ion source can be used in various fields, including the LEIS research.

The Influence of Foreign Aid on Public Sector Efficiency: A Panel Data Analysis

  • Purpose: This paper examines whether foreign aid influences public sector efficiency in policy areas of administration, education, and stability. Research design, data and methodology: The study uses panel data of 77 aid recipient developing countries over the period 2000-2020 and employs various panel data techniques to estimate. Results: We found that a percentage change in foreign aid increases administrative efficiency by 0.02 to 0.04 on average ceteris paribus in the short run. On the other hand, a percentage increase in foreign aid decreases education efficiency by 0.005 to 0.006 on average. While the impact of foreign aid on the policy area of stability is insignificant. Conclusions: The empirical results of this study have important implications for both donors and aid recipient countries. It suggests that to get positive influence from foreign aid, in the area of education and stability, the recipient countries need to increase accessibility of secondary schools with quality education especially; technical and vocational. Also, the donor should provide a minimum threshold amount of foreign aid to developing countries for reforming the institutions' capacity building.

측지학적 방법에 의한 지각변동 매개변수 결정에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Parameter Determination of Crustal Movement by Geodetic Technique)

  • 판 구조는 현대 지구물리학에 있어서 중요한 역할을 담당하고 있다. 우리나라의 지리적 메커니즘을 고려할때 판거동에 의한 지진 발생 가능성을 갖고 있으며, 지진에 의한 피해가 날로 증가하고 있는 실정이므로 이에 대한 인식의 중요성이 강조되고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 GPS 데이터를 이용하여 우리나라 주변국 및 국내의 지각변동 매개변수를 결정하고자 주변국에 설치되어 있는 여섯 개의 GPS 상시관측소와 국내에 설치된 11개의 GPS 상시관측소로부터 수신한 데이터를 정밀 처리소프트웨어인 GIPSY-OASIS II를 이용하여 처리하였다. 그 결과 주변국의 최대전단변형률의 평균값 ${\gamma}_max$$0.04{\mu}/yr$로 나타났으며, 최대 압축변화율(E$_2$)의 평균 방위각은 $97.75^{\circ}$로 나타났다. 국내의 지각변동 매개변수중 최대전단변형률의 평균값 ${\gamma}_max$$0.17{\mu}/yr$로 나타났으며, 최대 압축변화율$(E_2)$의 평균 방위각은 $70.25^{\circ}$ 보이고 있었으며, 지진의 발생 빈도와 비교해 볼 때 매우 비슷한 경향을 나타내고 있었다.

SPECT/CT의 획득시간 증감에 따른 방사능농도 추정치의 변화 (Variation on Estimated Values of Radioactivity Concentration according to the Change of the Acquisition Time of SPECT/CT)

  • With the recent development of precision medicine(Theranostics), interest and utilization of the quantitative function of SPECT/CT are increasing. This study aims to investigate the effect on the radioactivity concentration estimate by the increase or decrease in the total time of SPECT/CT imaging conditions. A standard image was obtained by the conditions of a total acquisition time of 600 sec(10 sec/f × 120 frames) by diluting 99mTc 91.76 MBq in a cylindrical phantom filled with sterile water, and a comparative image was obtained by increasing the total acquisition time by -90%, -75%, -50%, -25%, +50%, +100%. The CNR, radioactive concentration estimate(cps/ml), and the variation rate(%) of the recovery coefficient(RC) were analyzed by measuring the overall coefficient of interest in each image. The results[CNR, Radiation Concentration, RC] by the change in the number of projections for each increase or decrease rate(-90%, -75%, -50%, -25%, +50%, +100%) of total acquisition time are as follows. [-89.5%, +3.90%, 1.04] at -90%, [-77.9%, +2.71%, 1.03] at -75%, [-55.6%, +1.85%, 1.02] at -50%, [-33.6%, +1.37%, 1.01] at -25%, [-33.7%, +0.71%, 1.01] at +50%, [+93.2%, +0.32%, 1.00] at +100%. and also The results[CNR, Radiation Concentration, RC] by the acquisition time change for each increase or decrease rate(-90%, -75%, -50%, -25%, +50%, +100%) of total acquisition time are as follows. [-89.3%, -3.55%, 0.96] at -90%, [-73.4%, -0.17%, 1.00] at -75%, [-49.6%, -0.34%, 1.00] at -50%, [-24.9%, 0.03%, 1.00] at -25%, [+49.3%, -0.04%, 1.00] at +50%, [+99.0%, +0.11%, 1.00] at +100%. Image quality(CNR) showed a pattern of change in proportion to the increase or decrease in the total acquisition time of SPECT/CT, but the result at quantitative evaluation showed a change of less than 5% in all experimental conditions, maintaining quantitative accuracy(RC less than 0.05) without much influence.

간호대학생의 응급피임약 사용의도에 영향을 미치는 요인 (The Factors Influencing Intention to Use Emergency Contraceptives Pills For Nursing Students)

  • 본 연구는 간호대학생을 대상으로 응급피임약 사용의도에 영향을 미치는 요인을 분석하기 위한 서술적 조사연구이다. 2021년 2월 3일부터 2021년 2월 25일까지 J도에 소재한 간호대학생 195명을 대상으로 온라인 설문을 실시하였다. SPSS/WIN 22 프로그램을 이용하여 기술통계, independent-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient test, and multiple regression으로 분석하였다. 연구결과 대상자들의 응급피임약에 대한 지식은 6.78±2.46점(12점 만점), 태도는 3.04±0.64점(5점 만점), 사용의도는 4.30±0.90점(5점 만점)으로 나타났다. 학년과 성관계 경험여부, 응급피임약 인지여부, 응급피임약 교육경험, 응급피임약 교육요구도와 응급피임약에 대한 지식, 태도는 사용의도를 총13.4% 설명하는 것으로 나타났다(F=5.272, p<.001). 결론적으로 필요시 응급피임약의 적절한 사용으로 불필요한 처치를 예방하기 위해 응급피임에 대한 교육프로그램 개발이 필요하며 교육 프로그램 효과를 검증하는 연구를 제언한다.

항공기 결항과 연쇄 교통사고를 야기한 연안안개 사례 연구 (A Case Study of Coastal Fog Event Causing Flight Cancellation and Traffic Accidents)

  • A heavy foggy event accompanying with complex coastal fog was investigated in this study. This heavy foggy event occurred on FEB 11, 2015. Due to reduced visibility with this foggy event induced more than 100times serial traffic accidents over the Young-jong highway, and Flights from 04:30 AM to 10:00 AM were cancelled on Inchon International Airport. This heavy foggy event was occurred in synoptic and mesoscale environments but dense coastal fog were combined with a combination of sea fog, steam fog, and radiation fog. This kind of coastal fog can predicted by accurate analysis of the direction of the air flow, sea surface temperature(SST), and 925hPa isotherms from numerical weather prediction charts and real time analysis charts.

변압기 철심용 Fe-B-Si비정질 합금의 철손 특성 (Core Losses of Amorphous Fe-B-Si Alloy for Transformer Core)

  • For improving the magnetic properties of the amorphous Fe-B-Si alloy, we annealed the sample in a magnetic field oriented in the plane of the ribbon longitudinal to its long axis. By field annealing, coercive force and total core loss are reduced from 0.04 Oe to 0.02 Oe, and from 0.25 watt/kg to 0.15 watt/kg respectively in comparsion with non-field annealed specimen. These reductions were caused by the formation of 180 dcmain wall parallel to the annealing field due to the induced anisotropy.
