Effects of Particle Size and Characteristics on the Gas-particle Partitioning of PAHs in the Air (대기중 입자의 크기와 특성이 다환방향족탄화수소류 화합물의 증기상-입자상간의 분배에 미치는 영향)

  • 다환방향족탄화수소류 화합물의 증기상-입자상간의 분배평형의 설명을 위해 흔히 입자상의 흡착지점이 균질하고 총흡착면적은 TSP에 비례한다는 가정을 사용하는데 본 연구의 목적은 이러한 가정의 타당성을 평가하는 것이다. 본 연구를 위해 도심에서 6단의 다단계 대기중입자채집기를 사용하여 대기 중의 입자를 포집하였으며 이들 입자에 흡착된 phenanthrene, anthracene, fluoranthene, pyrene을 분석하여 입경별 분포를 측정하였다. 특히 연구기간 중에 황사현상이 일어나 입경분포나 입자의 기원이 매우 다른 경우에 대한 연구가 가능하였다. 주요연구결과로서 우선 야마사키가 제안한 분배평형의 온도 의존식은 제한된 범위에서 사용되어야 한다는 것이 관측되었다. 즉, 황사현상이 일어나는 경우와 같이 입자의 흡착특성과 입경분포가 보통때와 다른 경우에는 log Kp와 l/T의 관계에서 선형성이 상당히 저하되었다. 또한 특히 낮은 온도에서는 입자의 입경분포가 달라지면 전체적인 분배평형이 달라지게 되는 것으로 평가되었으며 입자의 흡착특성도 분배평형의 온도의존성에 결정적인 영향을 줄 수 있는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 입자의 기원이 다양하거나 입경분포가 달라지면 흡착평형이 바뀌기 때문에 흡착특성의 균질성과 단순한 TSP를 전제로 하는 분배평형의 평가나 예측은 실제 대기조건에서는 정확하지 않을 수가 있으며 제한적인 조건에서 사용되어야 할 것이다.

Biosorption of Lead ions onto Laminaria japonica and Kjellmaniella crassifolia : Equilibrium and Kinetic Modelling (Laminaria japonica와 Kjellmaniella crassifolia를 이용한 Pb의 생체흡착 : 흡착속도 및 흡착평형 모델링)

  • The batch experiments of biosorption were carried out for the removal of lead ion from metal solution using Laminaria japonica and Kjellmaniella crassifolia, two species of marine algaes as biosorbent. We have investigated biosorption kinetics and equilibrium of lead by using marine algaes. We observed that biosorption of lead occurred very rapidly by marine algaes ; the biosorption reached equilibrium less than 2 hr. These experimental data could be accurately described by a pseudo-second-order rate equation, obtaining values between $0.883{\times}10^{-3}$ and $0.628{\times}10^{-3}\;g/mg/min$ for the biosorption rate constant $k_{2,ad}$. It could be described with Langmuir, Redlich-Peterson, and Koble-Corrigan(Langmuir-Freundlich) equation. The biosorption capacity by L. japonica and K. crassifolia were in the sequence of Pb>Cd>Cr>Cu and Pb>Cu>Cd>Cr, respectively. The biosorption capacity of L. japonica were increased with pH increasing.

Measurement of Langmuir Adsorption Equilibrium by Elution-curve Method and Frontal Analysis (용출곡선법과 Frontal Analysis를 이용한 Langmuir 흡착평형식의 측정)

  • Adsorption isotherm is the most fundamental information in adsorption separation-process. Directly from the elution profile of a peak, the elution-curve method and frontal analysis(FA) were utilized to measure the adsorption isotherm in this work. Using RP-HPLC, sample and the buffer added in mobile phase were 5'-GMP and sodium phosphate, respectively. In this experimental condition, the retention time was decreased with increase in the injected mass of sample. And the front part of a peak was very stiff, so Langmuir adsorption isotherm might be applied. By the elution-curve method, the parameters used in the isotherm were obtained by optimization method, while by the FA, the concentrations of stationary phase were measured from the elution curve and the isotherm was determined by regression analysis. Compared to FA, the consumption of sample was less, and only one or two injections were needed by the elution-curve method. Finally, the effect of concentration of sodium phosphate in mobile phase on the parameters of the isotherm was investigated.

  • The objectives of this study were to evaluate the applicability of adsorption models for adsorption properties of adsorbents. For this study, adsorption experiment of $NO_3^-$ ion using anion exchange resin has been investigated under adsorption equilibrium and kinetic in bach process. Adsorption equilibrium experiment were carried out that two conditions is change of adsorbate concentration and change of adsorbent weight. Experiment results have been analyzed by adsorption isotherm models, energy models and kinetic models. Under the condition of change of adsorbate concentration was best described by Sips and Redlich-Perterson isotherm models. However case of change of adsorbent weight was described by Langmuir isotherm models. It seems reasonable to assume that isotherm model was dominated by multiple mechanism according to experiment condition.

  • 중수형 발전소에서 삼중수소 제거나 중수생산과 관련된 수소동위원소 교환반응용으로 이용되는 소수성 고분자촉매의 담체인 스티렌-디비닐벤젠 공중합체의 촉매금속인 백금의 흡착 특성을 관찰하였다. 백금담지실험을 위해 고분자담체를 제조하였으며, 항상 일정한 표면적과 기공분포를 얻을 수 있었다. 백금담지실험결과 10시간 정도가 지나면 흡착평형에 도달함을 알 수 있었으며, 흡착평형실험 결과는 Langmuir model을 잘 따르고 있음을 알 수 있었다.

  • Batch adsorption studies were carried out for equilibrium, kinetics and thermodynamic parameters for adsorption of coomassi brilliant blue G (CBBG) using activated carbon with varying the operating variables like initial concentration, contact time and temperature. Equilibrium adsorption data were fitted into Langmuir, Freundlich and Dubinin-Radushkevich isotherms. From estimated separation factor of Langmuir and Freundlich, this process could be employed as effective treatment for removal of CBBG. Also from Dubinin-Radushkevich isotherm model, adsorption energy (E) indicated adsorption process is physical adsorption. From kinetic experiments, the adsorption reaction was found to confirm to the pseudo second order model with good correlation. Intraparticle diffusion was rate controlling step. Thermodynamic parameters like change of free energy, enthalpy, and entropy were also calculated to predict the nature of adsorption. The change of enthalpy (406.12 kJ/mol) indicated endothermic nature of the adsorption process. The change of entropy (1.66 kJ/mol K) showed increasing disorder in process. The change of free energy found that the spontaneity of process increased with increasing adsorption temperature.

  • 본 연구는 지구 온난화 현상의 주원인이 되는 $CO_2$ 를 화력발전소 연도가스로부터 분리 회수하기 위한 PSA 공정 개발용 기초자료를 습득하기 위하여 실시하였다. 연도가스와 유사한 조건하에서 국내에서 제조된 활성탄을 이용하여 이산화탄소 및 밸런스를 이루고 있는 질소 가스의 흡착평형 및 흡착속도 실험을 실시하였으며, 분석을 위하여 자체 제작한 장치(부피측정법) 및 TGA 장치를 각각 사용하였다. 이 연구에서 획득한 흡착등온선으로부터 사용된 흡착제가 이산화탄소의 분리에 적절한지 판단할 수 있었다. 또한, TGA에 의해 측정된 흡착속도 자료는 향후 사용될 흡착탑의 파과곡선 예측에 사용될 수 있다. 연구결과로부터 다음과 같은 사실을 알 수 있었다. 첫째, 낮은 흡착온도 일수록 흡착량이 많고 빠른 흡착속도를 나타내었다. 둘째, 압력이 높아질수록 흡착량은 증가하였다. 셋째, SGT활성탄이 SGA-100 및 SGP-100활성탄 보다 다소 많은 흡착량과 빠른 흡착속도를 보였다.

Pure and Binary Mixture Gases Adsorption Equilibria of Hydrogen/Methane/Ethylene on Activated Carbon (활성탄에서의 H2/CH4/C2H4 순수 기체와 이성분 혼합기체의 흡착평형)

  • Adsorption equilibria of the gases $H_2$, $CH_4$, and $C_2H_4$ and their binary mixtures on activated carbon (Calgon co.) have been measured by static volumetric method in the pressure range of 0 to 18 atm at temperatures of 293.15, 303.15, and 313.15 K. From the parameters obtained from single component adsorption isotherm, multi-component adsorption equilibria could be predicted and compared with experimental data. The binary experimental data were applied to four models : extended Langmuir, extended Langmuir-Freundlich, Ideal Adsorbed Solution theory (IAST), and Vacancy Solution Model (VSM). The models were found to describe the experimental data with a reasonable accuracy. Extended L-F model predicts equilibria of mixture better than any other model.

Adsorption Equilibrium of Bovine Serum Albumin Protein on Porous Polymer Microgels (다공성 고분자 마이크로겔의 Bovine Serum Albumin 단백질의 흡착평형)

  • The adsorption equilibrium properties of bovine serum albumin(BSA-protein) for three kinds of porous microgels with different physical and chemical features were investigated. The adsorption amount of BSA-protein on poly(butyl methacrylate)(PBMA) microgels was higher than those on poly(vinyl pyridine)(PVP) and poly(acrylonitrile) (PAN) microgels due to the hydrophobic interaction between polymer and protein in an aqueous solution. And PBMA microgels had more irreversible adsorption equilibrium properties the PVP and PAN microgels. It implies that hydrophobic interaction plays a more important role in adsorption properties of BAS-protein than physical properties of polymer and electrostatic attraction between protein and polymer microgels. Characteristics of the microgels used in this study followed Langmuir equation better than the Freundlich equation.

  • We have investigated biosorption kinetics and equilibrium of $Pb^2+$ and $Cr^2+$ using waste sludge, and separation efficiency of waste sludge by dissolved air flotation was evaluated in the various A/S ratio. The biosorption capacity and contact time were shown as a simulation of biosorption equilibrium and kinetics models. Biosorption equilibrium of the $Pb^2+$ and $Cr^2+$ onto the waste sludge could be fitted by the Langmuir, Freundlich, Redlich-Peterson, and Koble-Corrigan equation. The kinetics could be fitted by a pseudo-second-order rate equation more than a pseudo-first-order rate equation. The separation efficiency of waste sludge using DAF was kept above 90%.
