본 연구에서는 흑인 여성의 정체성과 이들을 받아들이는 공동체에 관한 사회적 시각을 논의하고자 한다. 대표적인 미국 흑인 여성 안무가를 중심으로 그들의 이야기와 삶을 통해 컨템포러리 댄스의 지점과 흑인 여성의 의미를 되새겨보는 계기가 될 것이다. 이는 컨템포러리 댄스의 다양성을 확인하고 기존의 중심과 주변이라는 개념을 초월하여 예술적이기에 정치적인 흑인 무용안무가들의 작품 취지와 철학을 조명하는 계기가 되리라 사료된다.

Since the beginning of her dramatic career, Suzan-Lori Parks has considered digging up and restoring African-American history buried under the dominant white Anglo-Saxon history as her mission as a playwright. In Red Letter Plays, she attempts what Deborah Geis called "canon-critique" by taking canonical work by Nathaniel Hawthorne and casting an African-American character as the main character and describing her oppression as an African-American female. This paper argues that Suzan-Lori Parks accuses the oppressive social system by restoring and representing the history of sexual, economic, and racial exploitation that African-American females had to suffer through the dominant image of body and blood. Parks had to rewrite the history of black female characters on their bodies and in the blood because their bodies have been the ultimate object of revulsion and attraction in the perspective of white male. While abhorring and despising Hester La Negrita's abject body, male characters in In the Blood nonetheless not only exploit her sexually and economically but also impregnate her. Hester resorts to her only means of revolting against this oppressive system; she kills her most beloved son and writes "A" on the floor with his blood. Likewise, Hester Smith in Fucking A, who wears "A" on her bosom like Hester Prynne, which in this case means "abortionist," "saves" her son from the hunters by slitting his throat. Abundant graphic and sensational images written on black female body and in the blood are Parks's dramatic strategy to rewrite the forgotten and hidden history of black women's history.

배경 및 목적: 성병 감염, 조기 성경험, 다수의 성관계 파트너 등과 같은 위험 성행동은 여성의 건강 전반을 위협하는 결과를 초래할 수 있다. 하지만, 이러한 심각성에 비하여, 미국의 청소년기 및 청년기 여성의 위험 성행동을 소수인종 집단별 특성을 고려한 연구는 부족한 실정이다. 그러므로 본 연구는 미국 소수인종 여성 청소년의 위험 성행동에 대한 실태를 조사하고자 한다. 방법: 본 연구는 2차 자료 분석의 결과물로써, 원자료인 미국의 National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent Health (Add Health)의 1기 (1995년)와 3기 (2001년)의 자료 중 여성 청소년의 자료를 바탕으로 분석되었다. 다양한 위험 성행동을 인종별로 분석함과 더불어 본 연구의 특징은 종단적 성병 감염 행태를 인종별로 분석한 점이다. 결과: 본 연구는 소수인종 여성의 위험 성행동에 관한 핵심적인 결과를 제시한다. 성병 감염, 조기 성경험, 다수의 성관계 파트너 등과 같은 위험 성행동의 분포는 흑인과 아시아계 여성이 타인종의 여성에 비하여 높은 위험해 쳐해 있는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구의 흑인 여성들은 전반적인 성행동을 망라하여 고위험군으로 분류되고 있다. 아시아계 여성 역시 고위험 군으로 분류되는데, 특히, 청소년기에 성병에 한번 감염된 경험이 있는 아시아계 여성은 가장 위험한 성병 감염 행태를 보이고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 결론: 본 연구의 결과는 소수인종 여성의 위험 성행동이 백인보다 전반적으로 높은 편으로 나타나지만, 적절한 보건의료 서비스에서는 소외되는 현실을 지적하고 있다. 이러한 인종별 성건강의 불균형 문제해소를 위하여 청소년들에게 인종적 특성과 서비스 접근성의 고려가 절실히 필요하다고 사료된다.

This study examines black images as 'the other' in history and aims to analyze images of black female fashion models which have been changed in modern society, particularly in $21^{st}$ century post-modern world. Black images, established historically as illustrated on the paintings in $19^{th}$ century, were disseminated in $20^{th}$ century throughout the world especially by way of TV and movies as several typical images such as 'Coon' the clown as the object of entertainment, 'Buck' wild and resistant black rascal, and 'Mammy' obedient and fat black woman servant. The result of image analysis of black female fashion models, can be summarized as following five images. The first is the image of 'powerful'. Black female models frequently represent healthy image which reflects black people's excellence in sports and also the traditional Image of black skin color as strength. The second is the image of 'sexy'. They are adored as having perfect ideal body shape. They show off their sex appeal with their body. The third image is 'multicultural'. Black models represent cultures besides the western. The fourth is the image of 'fantastic'. In contrast to the real, resonable things, black female models represent wild, fancy, ghost things. The fifth is the image of 'racial discrimination' By arranging them in contrast to whites, a metaphoric image of racial discrimination can be displayed. The result shows that tome of racial images still remain on the other way.

2005년 1월 30일 뉴욕타임즈는 미국에서의 에이즈 수직감염률이 거의 소멸되어 간다고 보고 했다. 1990년대에는 일년에 약 2,000건이 발생하던 것이 2003년도에는 약 200건이 발생하였으며 그 발생률은 더욱 낮아지리라고 예상하고 있다. 이렇게 수직감염률이 낮아진 이유는 대중의 에이즈에 대한 인식(awareness)이 향상되면서 자발적으로 에이즈 검사를 받고, 산전 진찰을 철저히 받고 있기 때문이라고 설명하고 있다. 최근 미국의 에이즈 역학에서 중요한 점은 가임기에 있는 여성, 특히 흑인여성들 사이에서의 에이즈 발생률이 가장 높다는 점인데, 이는 이들이 산전진찰을 통하여 에이즈 검사를 통한 진단을 받는 비율이 높고, 이러한 이유로 인하여 수직감염률은 반대로 낮아지는 양상을 보이는 것이 아닌가 유추할 수 있다.

The purpose of this paper is to illuminate how Suzan-Lori Parks reveals colonized oppression and violence in a black woman's body in Venus. The body of Hottentot Venus is an 'object' of white male spectators' gazes and a dissection from a medical study. The report on her pathologic anatomy gives the audience the illusion that the body of a black woman is inferior to those of others. Not only 'subjective' aesthetics, but also 'objective' medicine makes us confuse 'fact' with 'truth' about black women. By publicly exhibiting her erotic body, Venus is represented as a singular emblem for nineteenth-century colonial discourse on race and sexuality. Her body stands for the powerful signifier of raped Africa. A distinctive feature of black Venus is her raciality. The ownership of her body is only transferred from Mother-Showman to Doctor Baron. She had no right to her ownership. Her body is an object of hatred and curiosity and at the same time a site which is represented by conflicting desires. Parks' eventual goal in Venus is to investigate 'hindsight' of Venus Hottentot, 'the past' and 'the posterior'. As the meaning of original chocolate can be regained, the insulted and damaged body of Venus should also be recovered and resurrected.

We investigated the morphological differences of the ethnic hairs using scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy, sampled from African, Asian and Caucasian women. Transverse section of African hair had a highly elliptical type whereas those of Asian and Caucasian hairs had circular and elliptical types, respectively. The diameter of African hair showed wide variations from 90 to 115 ${\mu}m$. The diameter of Asian hair was 100 ${\mu}m$ and Caucasian hair had a lesser diameter of 80 ${\mu}m$ on average. African hair were much more damaged in cuticle layer compared with Asian or Caucasian hairs. In particular, endocuticle of cuticle cell had a lot of holes in it, which resulted that it tends to be easily broken. Phaeomelanin in the cortex of Caucasian hair had a concentrically helical structure in it.

This paper argues how Adrienne Kennedy embodies the features of a black woman's self-identity in Funnyhouse of a Negro. An educated young black woman, Sarah lives in a funnyhouse which is surrounded by mirrors. The reflections in the funnyhouse's mirrors are a metaphor of a black woman's life in America. Sarah's narrative is played out by four "selves," differing by sex and race. These selves imply her mixed cultural heritage. Two white women symbolize white European royalty, Jesus expresses christianity which is the basis of western culture and Lumumba represents Africa. Sarah's desire for whiteness is concentrated on skin color and hair. She longs for pallid skin and straight hair of the white race. Sarah wanted to be white, but her "tainted blood" by her black father made that impossible. Sarah is always obsessed by the fear of her father and the unhappy destiny of her mother. Ceaseless knocking, paralyzed images of lifelessness and surreal dreams effectively show her fear. Sarah's selves remain fragmented in the funnyhouse. Sarah exposures the black woman's anger and frustration through her death. Her death is a gesture of denial and refusal of the dominant society. At the same time, it was her last choice and struggle not to completely lose her own identity.

본 연구는 미국 쇼핑몰 내에서의 소비자행동에 관한 것으로, 인구통계학적 변수와 소핑가치 및 쇼핑의도와의 관계를 모델검증을 통하여 밝혔다. 우선 쇼핑가치와 쇼핑의도 하위차원의 구조를 살펴보면, 소비자가 인지한 쇼핑가치를 쾌락적 쇼핑가치와 실용적 쇼핑 가치로 구분하였다. 또한 기존연구와는 달리 쇼핑의도 변수에 있어서는 다차원적인 구조의 접근을 시도하여 쇼핑의도의 차원을 경제적, 외식, 기분전환, 서비스 이용 의도로 분류한 모델을 제시하였다. 인구통계학적 변수는 소비자가 인지한 쇼핑가치에 영향을 미치고 쇼핑가치는 소비자의 쇼핑의도에 영향을 미치는 인과적인 모델을 검증해본 결과를 살펴보면, 다음과 같다. 제시된 쇼핑가치 및 쇼핑의도의 차원은 통계적으로 유의하였으며, 인종 및 성별의 인구통계학적 변수는 쇼핑가치에 영향을 미치고 쇼핑가치는 쇼핑의도에 영향을 미치는 모델의 구조 또한 유의한 것으로 나타났다. 실용적 쇼핑 가치의 인지에 있어서 백인과 흑인간의 차이는 없었으나, 쾌락적 쇼핑 가치에서는 차이를 보여 흑인이 백인보다 쾌락적 쇼핑가치를 더욱 느낀 것으로 나타났다. 성별의 차이에서는 쾌락적 쇼핑가치뿐 아니라 실용적 쇼핑가치에서도 여성이 남성보다 더 큰 반응을 보였다. 또한 쾌락적 및 실용적 쇼핑가치 모두 쇼핑의도의 전체 차원들과 정적인 관계가 있는 결과를 보여, 실용적 쾌락적 쇼핑가치를 더욱 인지하면 할수록 경제적, 외식, 기분전환, 서비스 이용의 쇼핑의도 모두 높은 것으로 나타났다.
