In this paper, polymer-modified repair materials using polymer dispersions with six repair methods are prepared with various polymer-cement ratios, and tested for compressive and flexural strengths through each curing condition such as dry cure, water cure, and freezing and thawing cyclic action. And, the adhesive interface between the polymer-modified mortar and mortar substrate is observed by a scanning electron microscope. From the test results, the compressive and flexural strengths of cement mortar repaired by polymer-modified mortar are improved with a rise in the polymer-cement ratio regardless of the type of polymer and curing conditions. Such an improvement in the strengths of polymer-modified repair materials to ordinary cement mortar is explained by the high adhesion of polymer-modified mortar. Strength reduction of polymer-modified repair materials after freezing and thawing cyclic actions is recognized, but it is lower than that of unmodified mortar. Especially, cement mortar repaired by polymer-modified mortar with a St/BA emulsion has good strength properties compared with those of SBR latex and PA emulsion. Accordingly, it is judged that polymer-modified mortars with a St/BA emulsion are possible to use as repair materials to ordinary cement mortar and concrete.
As a eco-friendly material, Hwangtoh(red clay) has been studied for a partial or complete replacement of portland cement. Most of existing studies focused on the mechanical properties of the Hwangtoh concrete including the compressive strength, drying shrinkage, creep. In the present study, the flexural capacity of the beams made with the Hwangtoh concrete was tested. One of the concrete tested consisted of activated Hwangtoh replacing 20% of the cement. The other consisted 100% activated Hwangtoh replacing all the cement. The simple beams were tested under two point static loading. The flexural strength, cracking moment, deflection, and ductility were compared with those of the beams made with ordinary portland cement concrete.

UHPC which was a structural material exhibiting very remarkable mechanical performances with compressive strength, tensile strength and flexural strength rising up to 200MPa, 15MPa and 35MPa, respectively. In addition, this material presents exceptional durability regard to the very low diffusion and penetration speeds of noxious substances like chloride ions This study was carry out to evaluate the effect of flexural behavior according to steel fiber type in UHPC. The results is showing that the steel fiber type have remarkable influence flexural strength Addition to it is showing that steel fiber type made little difference in the first cracking strength but considerable gap in the ultimate flexural strength to use the steel fiber of wave type.

This study presents an evaluation of basic properties of light weight mortar with expanded polystyrene bead(EPB) and waste expanded polystyrene(WEP) by varying replacement rations. In order to evaluate the basic properties of the light weight mortar with EPB and WEP, unit weight, compressive strength, flexural strength, water absorption ratio, thermal conductivity and distribution of polystyrene (EPB and WEP) in hardened mortar were performed. As a result, unit volume, compressive strength, bending strength, water absorption and thermal conductivity of light weight mortar were increased, but area distribution of polystyrene decreased with increasing the replacement ratio of WEP.
This study was performed to obtain the basic data which can be applied to the use of foamed mortars using foaming agent of prefoamed type. The data was based on the properties of foamed mortars depending upon various mixing ratios of cement to fine aggregates, flow values and foam-cement ratio to compare those of cement mortar. The results obtained were summarized as follow; 1. At the mixing ratio of 1:0 and the foam-cement ratio of 6.00%, the increasing rate of water-cement ratio was 25% by flow $200{\pm}5mm$, 28% by flow $240{\pm}5mm$ and 32% by flow $280{\pm}5mm$. But it decreased as the mixing ratio gets poorer. The result showed that water amount increased because of the high viscosity caused by the increase of foam-cement ratio. The decrease of water-cement ratio was the greatest when the foam-cement ratio was 1.50%. 2. Absolute aridity bulk density of foamed mortars decreased with the increase of foam-cement ratio and the decrease of flow values. 3. Generally, compressive, tensile and bending strenghs of foamed mortars decreased with the decrease of flow values and the increase of foam-cement ratio. 4. The compressive strength was in proportion to tensile strength. It was estimated that the compressive strength was 8.8 times of tensile strength. The compressive strength was in proportion to bending strength. It was estimated that the compressive strength was 4.0 times of bending strength. The bending strength was in proportion to tensile strength. It was estimated that the bending strength was 2.1 times of tensile strength. 5. At the mixing ratio of 1:1 the lowest absorption rates were showed by foamed mortars, respectively. It was significantly higher at the early stage of immersed water.

In this paper, concrete-filled steel tubular columns encased with precast reinforced concrete were studied. Four eccentrically loaded columns and a concentrically loaded column were tested to investigate the axial load-carrying capacity. The test parameters were the use of fiber reinforcement for cover concrete, eccentricity, column length, and lateral reinforcement. The maximum axial loads of the specimens agreed with the nominal strengths predicted by KBC 2009. However, in some specimens, the load carrying capacity quickly decreased after the peak strength due to spalling of the cover concrete.

The quality for the domestic pavement is evaluated based on flexural strength at the age of 28 days in accordance with KS regulation. Most specimens of the flexural tensile strength used currently are relatively large ones with a dimension of $150{\times}150{\times}550mm$. Accordingly, it is difficult to treat the specimens, and the utilization of a curing tank is low. In this paper, the study tried to resolve the problem by specimen size specified in the code. For this purpose, a flexural strength test was conducted according to the log scale within the specimen size specified by the KS. And, based on the results of this experiment, a comparative analysis was conducted using the prediction formula of Size Effect Law (SEL) proposed by Bazant to examine the correlation between specimen sizes, so as to use the result as basic data for the reduction of the specimen size in the quality evaluation of concrete pavement.
The object of this study was a cold-formed steel wall stud panel sheathed by gypsum boards. In the beam-analysis, the panel was treated as a simple beam with a uniform lateral loading. The deflections were calculated by considering the primary factors that reduced the stiffness of the panel. In the column-analysis, the panel was treated as a bearing wall with an axial load. By using an energy method, nominal axial strength could be evaluated by considering both flexural buckling and torsional-flexural buckling. All calculations were programmed and compared with the results of the experiment. In the beam-analysis, experimental deflections were close to theoretical deflections. In the column-analysis, the experimental values were also close to theoretical values in axial strength.
In a will to subdue the brittleness as well as the low tensile and flexural strengths of ordinary concrete, researches are being actively watched worldwide on steel fiber-reinforced Ultra High Performance Concrete (UHPC) obtained by admixing steel fibers in ultra high strength concrete. For the purpose of maximizing advantage of UHPC, this study removes the upper flange of the steel girder to apply an inverted T-shape girder for the formation of the composite beam. This paper intends to evaluate the behavior of the shear connectors and the flexural characteristics of the composite beam made of the inverted T-shape girder and UHPC slab using 16 specimens considering the compressive strength of concrete, the mixing ratio of steel fiber, the spacing of shear connectors and the thickness of the slab as variables. In view of the test results, it seemed that the appropriate stud spacing should range between 100 mm and 2 or 4 times the thickness of the slab. Moreover, the relative displacement observed in the specimens showed that ductile behavior was secured to a certain extent with reference to the criteria for ductile behavior suggested in Eurocode-4. The specimens with large stud spacing exhibited larger values than given by the design formula and revealed that the shear connectors developed larger ultimate strength than predicted owing to the action of UHPC and steel after non-composite behavior. Besides, the specimens with narrow stud spacing failed suddenly through compression at the upper chord of UHPC before reaching the full capacity of the shear connectors.

This study investigated the electromechanical response of smart ultra-high performance fiber reinforced concretes (S-UHPFRCs) under flexural loading to evaluate the self-sensing capacity of S-UHPFRCs in both tension and compression region. The electrical resistivity of S-UHPFRCs under flexural continuously changed even after first cracking due to the deflection-hardening behavior of S-UHPFRCs with the appearance of multiple microcracks. As the equivalent bending stress increased, the electrical resistivity of S-UHPFRCs decreased from 976.57 to 514.05 kΩ(47.0%) as the equivalent bending stress increased in compression region, and that did from 979.61 to 682.28 kΩ(30.4%) in tension region. The stress sensitivity coefficient of S-UHPFRCs in compression and tension region was 1.709 and 1.098 %/MPa, respectively. And, the deflection sensitivity coefficient of S-UHPFRCs in compression region(30.06 %/mm) was higher than that in tension region(19.72 %/mm). The initial deflection sensing capacity of S-UHPFRCs was almost 50% of each deflection sensitivity coefficient, and it was confirmed that it has an excellent sensing capacity for the initial deflection. Although both stress- and deflection-sensing capacity of S-UHPFRCs under flexural were higher in compression region than in tension region, S-UHPFRCs are sufficient as a self-sensing material to be applied to the construction field.
