Until recently tensile stresses in concrete have not been considered, since it does not affect the ultimate strength of reinforced concrete flexural members significantly However, to verify the load-deflection relationship, the effect of tensile stresses between reinforcing bars and concrete, so-called tension stiffening effect must be taken into account. Main parameters of the tension stiffening behavior are known as concrete strength, and bond between concrete and reinforcing bars. In this study total twenty specimens subjected to bending were tested with different concrete strength, coverage, and de-bonding length of longitudinal bars. The effects of these parameters on the flexural rigidity, crack initiation and propagation were carefully checked and analyzed.

The objective of the present study is to provide statistical resistance statistics for steel-concrete composite plate girder sections under positive and negative moments. Statistical properties on yield strength, tensile strength, elongation, and fracture toughness of domestic structural steel products, gathered from an analysis of over 16,000 samples, were evaluated. Using the steel samples for the plate girder, the bias factor and the coefficient of variation of the ultimate flexural resistance for representative composite plate girder sections under positive and negative flexures were presented. In calculating the ultimate flexural resistance of the composite section, the moment curvature relationships were developed using the incremental load approach considering material nonlinearity for the steel girder. The predicted statistics can be used in the future for the efficient calibration of LRFD code.
The influence of steel fiber volume on the tension softening behavior in steel fiber-reinforced ultra high strength concrete was investigated. Three-point bending test (TPBT) with notched beams was performed and inverse analysis method by Uchida et al. was adopted to obtain the tension softening behaviors from the results of TPBT. It could be found that the intial stiffness was constant regardless of steel fiber volume, the increase of steel fiber volume fraction made the tensile strength higher, but all of the curves converged on an asymptote with a crack width. It was proposed the equation of softening curve expressed by combination of plastic behavior part and exponential descending behavior part considering the steel fiber volume fraction and $\omega_0$, which is corresponding to the maximum crack width of plastic area. Thereafter, the crack propagation analysis using finite element method with smeared crack model was also carried out and it was confirmed that the proposed equation had a good agreement with the experimental results.

In a tension-controlled section, all steel tension reinforcement is assumed to yield at ultimate when using the strength design method to calculate the nominal flexural strength of members with steel reinforcement arranged in multiple layers. Therefore, the tension force is assumed to act at the centroid of the reinforcement with a magnitude equal to the area of tension reinforcement times the yield strength of steel. Because FRP materials have no plastic region, the stress in each reinforcement layer will vary depending on its distance from the neutral axis. Similarly, if different types of FRP bars are used to reinforce the same member, the stress level in each bar type will vary, and the member will show different behavior from our expectation. In this study, six high-strength concrete beam specimens reinforced with conventional steels, CFRP bars, and GFRP bars as flexural reinforcements were constructed and tested. The members reinforced with hybrid reinforcements showed higher stiffness, smaller crack width, and better ductility than the members reinforced with single type of FRP bars.

UHPC which was a structural material exhibiting very remarkable mechanical performances with compressive strength, tensile strength and flexural strength rising up to 200MPa, 15MPa and 35MPa, respectively. In addition, this material presents exceptional durability regard to the very low diffusion and penetration speeds of noxious substances like chloride ions This study was carry out to evaluate the effect of flexural behavior according to placement method in UHPC. The results is showing that the placement methods have remarkable influence flexural strength Addition to it is showing that the placement methods made little difference in the first cracking strength but considerable gap up to 2 or 3 times in the ultimate flexural strength.

In reinforced concrete structure, rebar connection method should be considered because of its structural role to resist the tensile stress and its structural load transmission with concrete in the concrete structure. Lapped splice and mechanical sleeve type connector have been traditionally used to connect rebar in the concrete structures. In this study, to examine the mechanical and failure behaviors of rebar bar connected by taper type coupler in the concrete member depending on connection type and condition, tensile tests of steel rebar with taper type coupler and flexible loading tests of concrete beams were conducted. Its tensile strength and flexible strength of the rebar connected by taper type coupler were compared and evaluated by mechanical behaviors of rebar. From this study, steel rebar connected by taper type coupler showed it has similar mechanical performance comparing with unconnected rebar, thus taper type coupler can be used in the rebar fabrication of reinforced concrete structure.

This paper presents results of an experimental program for evaluating the mechanical properties of green strain-hardening cementitious composite (SHCC) using recycled material. Recycled poly ethylene terephthalate (PET) fiber, fly ash, and recycled sand from waste concrete are used as materials for green SHCC. Test results indicated that average tensile strength of five dumbbell-shaped specimen is 4.76MPa and average compressive and flexural strength of three specimens are 38MPa and 7.40MPa, respectively.
