  • This study was conducted to explore the effect of health behavior and obesity indices on blood pressure(BP) in 20s men. This was a retrospective exploratory study and the subjects were 214 men who participated in screening test for clinical trial at a tertiary hospital between October 2006 and April 2011. The proportion of normal SBP and DBP was 28.5% and 50.0%, respectively. BP was significantly higher in individuals who were hypertriglyceridemia and hypercholesterolemia than BP in subjects of opposing categories. DBP was significantly higher in individuals who were 25~29 years and smokers than DBP in subjects of opposing categories. The significant factors of increasing SBP were BMI and TG, and those for DBP were TC, TG, age, and smoking amount. In conclusion, these results demonstrate hypertention prevention program to include decreasing intake of TC and TG, maintaining normal BMI and quitting smoking needs to the young men in 20s.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the incidence of sports injury and trend of incidence pattern of national judo athletes. The research method was analyzed based on the records of all injuries experienced by national judo athletes during training and competition for 9 years from 2008 to 2016. A total of 20,345 sports injuries requiring physical therapy were 10,768 (52.93%) for women, 9,577 (47.07%) for men, lower extremities 9,688 (47.62%), upper limbs 5,807 (28.54%), and trunk 4,850 (23.84%) and knee-related injuries (27.82%) occur more frequently than other injuries. Shoulders, feet and back were more frequent in male athletes, and ankle, neck and hand injuries were more common in female athletes. Using the binomial trend line, the trend of the decrease of sports injuries in each area was shown. However, infrequent injuries such as hands and hips tend to increase gradually. The results of this study are expected to be used as a training program for judo athletes' sports injury and basic data.

  • This paper examines the level of the primary care continuity for patients with high blood pressure and the effects of the primary care continuity on their convergence health outcomes. We conducted a retrospective cohort study. A total of 315,791 patients who had received new diagnoses of hypertension. We determined standard indices of continuity of care-MFPC, MMCI, and COC and evaluated their association with study outcomes over three years of follow-up. Outcome measures included hospitalization and emergency room visits. The result of the primary care continuity levels and hazard ratios of health outcome showed that, comparing continuity group, non-continuity group had higher rates of hospitalization by 1.655(95% CI: 1.547-1.771) and emergency room visits by 1.669(95% CI: 1.465-1.903). This paper argues that medical costs of chronic diseases will reduce if low continuity of care turns into high continuity of care.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between hematologic hyperlipemia index and severity of fatty liver abdominal ultrasonography. A total of 412 adults from January 1, 2017 to December 31, 2017 who underwent abdominal ultrasonography and hematologic data within 3 months of the ultrasound examination, were the target of the investigation. As a result of the study, the hematological values according to the degree of fatty liver were statistically significant in triglyceride, AST and ALT (p<.05), fatty liver was associated with gender, triglyceride, AST and ALT (p<.05). In conclusion, the degree of fatty liver was not directly related to the hematologic value of hyperlipidemia, but we confirmed the necessity of co-management with fatty liver and hyperlipidemia by confirming its relevance.

  • This study is a retrospective study attempted to determine the factors that influence the survival of patients with traumatic acute subdural hematoma. The study subjects were 207 patients with traumatic subdural hematoma who visited the emergency room from January 2017 to February 2019 at C University Hospital in G Metropolitan City. Data analysis was using the SPSS 23.0 program, and χ2-test, t-test, and logistic regression analysis. As a result of the study, the factors affecting the survival of the subjects were under disease, complications, and initial GCS. Therefore, it is necessary to establish a medical system to check the subject's history and to train medical staff to prevent complications. In addition, it is necessary to improve the transfer system so that the GCS of the subject can be measured from the stage before transfer to a medical institution and transferred to a hospital that can be treated quickly.

  • Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the effect of an intensively rehabilitation program on the gait, balance, functional performance, and wearing satisfaction of patients with traumatic lower extremity amputations caused by industrial accidents. Methods: In this study, the anonymized electronic medical records of individuals who participated in the intensive rehabilitation program (among those who were admitted to the hospital belonging to the Labor Welfare Corporation) due to an industrial accident from August 2018 to September 2019 were collected. As a result, the records of 12 subjects meeting the screening criteria were analyzed. Results: According to the time of application to the intensive rehabilitation program, the 10 Meter Walk Test (10MWT) (p < 0.01), Berg Balance Scale (BBS) (p < 0.01), Timed Up and Go Test (TUG) (p = 0.01), the L Test of Functional Mobility (L-test) (p < 0.01), Prosthetic Limb Users Survey of Mobility (Plus-M) (p < 0.01), and Houghton Score Question (HSQ) (p < 0.01) values significantly improved with time. Conclusion: This study confirmed the positive effect of an intensive rehabilitation program on the gait, balance, functional performance, and wearing satisfaction of patients with traumatic lower extremity amputations caused by industrial accidents. However, this study was limited by the absence of a control group, and, thus, it highlights the need for more extensive research with a large sample.

  • The number of patients referred to pain clinic is increasing. The purpose of this study was to describe and understand characteristic of patients referred to the tertiary pain clinic. This study was conducted on 587 patients who had been referred to pain clinics at three university hospitals in the Jeollabuk-do region from January 2011 to December 2015. The data was retrospectively collected on a record sheet prepared in the clinic. we analyzed these patients according to their age, sex, chief complaint, pain location, coexisting disease, referring department, referral causes. There were various medical problems addressed by a pain clinic consultation. It is reasonable to develop standardized guidelines for pain management. To do so, it is necessary to identify the characteristics of the patients. A study with more patients in another area will be helpful in characterizing the patients referred to the pain clinic in Korea.

  • With the psychological autopsy, an analytical method of backward reasoning for individual case of suicide, this study aims to investigate the causes and route of individual suicides in Korean rural areas, which has long had a bad reputation of world-wide high rate of suicide. The compound approach of the study which combines the psychological and socio-cultural aspects concerning suicide simultaneously, is able to make this study clearly distinguished from existing related inquires and results. Analysis of 25 suicide cases could make clear the typical characters of risky group of suicide in rural area and elucidate the obvious socio-cultural impact on suicide respective of several suicide type, for example, male and female elderly, homecoming youth etc. Then, the psycho-social interactive model to account for rural area suicide adequately could be established as a final result of the study. In addition, based on the findings of the study, several counter-plans to prevent the suicide-committing of the risky groups are suggested in short-term and long-term bases as well.

  • Purpose : Reversible posterior leukoencephalopathy syndrome is a complex disorder with characteristic clinical and radiologic findings that mainly involve the white/gray matter of the parieto-occipital lobes. The purpose of this study was to determine its clinical and radiological characteristics. Methods : A total of 15 pateints were involved in the study. Their medical records and radiological features of brain MRI were retrospectively reviewed and analyzed. Results : Fifteen pateints were involved. (9 males and 5 females). The patients' ages ranged from 2-20 years (mean age : 10 years). The brain MRI revealed fairly symmetric areas of increased T2 signal involving both white and gray matter of parieto-occipital regions. The condition seemed to be associated with cyclosporin A and steroid therapy or a variety of other conditions in which blood pressure rises acutely. Conclusion : Reversible posterior leukoencephalopathy syndrome is a complicated neurological condition, but a better understanding of this complex syndrome may obviate unnecessary investigations and lead to prompt and appropriate management of the associated problems.
