  • This research measures EEG signals which are generating on head skin and extracts brain concentration level related with brain activity. We develop concentration wireless transmission system for controlling hardware by using this signal. Two channels are used for measuring EEG signal on front head and Biopac system with MP100 and EEG100C was used for measuring EEG signal, amplifying and filtering the signal. LabView 8.5 was also used for FFT transformation, frequency and spectrum analysis of the measured EEG signals. As a result, SMR wave, Mid-Bata wave, $\Theta$ wave classified. We extracted the concentration index by adapting concentration extraction algorithm. This concentration uldex was transferred into logo automobile device by wireless module and applied for BCI application.

  • This paper presents the means of controlling the regeneration of a diesel particulate filter (DPF) that is mounted on tactical vehicles to satisfy exhaust gas standards. The DPF captures particulate matter in the exhaust gas and combusts the captured particulate matter. This process is regeneration, which is essential to the normal performance of the DPF. Bad regeneration causes degradation of vehicle performance; worse, it can lead to a vehicle fire. DPF regeneration is performed by control logic. If the regeneration control logic does not properly reflect the operating characteristics of the vehicle, DPF regeneration may not occur. Consequently, it is very important to ensure the DPF operates properly by reflecting the operating characteristics of the tactical vehicle. This study analyzes the operational characteristics of a tactical vehicle and the DPF, and adds proper DPF regeneration control logic. Additionally, this study is intended to simultaneously improve the additional problems that may occur from operating under the added regeneration control logic.

  • This paper proposes a new approach to eliminate the reflectance component for the detection of text in color images. Color images, printed by color printing technology, normally have an illumination component as well as a reflectance component. It is well known that a reflectance component usually obstructs the task of detecting and recognizing objects like texts in the scene, since it blurs out an overall image. We have developed an approach that efficiently removes reflectance components while preserving illumination components. We decided whether an input image hits Normal or Polarized for determining the light environment, using the histogram which consisted of a red component. We were able to go ahead through the ability to extract by reducing the blur phenomenon of text by light because reflection component by an illumination change and removed it and extracted text. The experimental results have shown a superior performance even when an image has a complex background. Text detection and recognition performance is influenced by changing the illumination condition. Our method is robust to the images with different illumination conditions.

  • This thesis has discussed how to recognize and convert raised letters on tire to data and collect such data. Unlike the existing recognition system, the system presented by this thesis recognizes raised letters on tire through detecting letters after converting the Kinect camera image into image data in the preprocessing stage. After then, numbers and letters are analyzed through image improvement by use of binary images, noise filter, etc. In the recognition stage, letter distinction is used and raised letters on tire are recognized 100% through correction of errors by way of the correction algorithm for tire data recognition errors. In this paper it will be the development of a method of recognizing characters and the tire technology. Although there are many ways to the already recognized characters, Tire characters requires a technique different from the more general character recognition. For this reason and to develop additional technical methods and algorithms for character recognition.

  • In this paper, we propose a new decorrelating detector called pseudo-inverse-filtering type decorrelating detector for asynchronous CDMA channels. We first show that the matched filtering and decorrelating operations of the existing decorrelating detectors can be replaced with the pseudo-inverse filtering operations in synchronous channels, and using this fact we show that the decorrelating detector has the largest SNR among the linear detectors that can eliminate MAI. Then we introduce asynchronous pseudo-inverse filtering type decorrelating detector by extending this result for asynchronous channels, and discuss implementation methods of the proposed decorrelating detectors. Since the proposed scheme employs a decentralized structure for updating coefficients, it has the flexibility to add/remove users. Finally we analyze the performance of the proposed decorrelating detector in terms of the bit error rate, and examine its performance improvements over the conventional detectors through computer simulations.

  • In this paper, the alignment and navigation results by INGU(Inertial Navigation and Guidance Unit) onboard software and by Inertial Explorer which is a post-processing software specialized for IMU(Inertial Measurement Unit) are compared for identification of inertial sensor error models and estimation of alignment and navigation errors for KSLV-I INGU. For verification of the IMU error estimated by Kalman Filter of Inertial Explorer, the covariance parameters of inertial sensor error model state are identified by using stochastic error model of inertial sensors estimated by Allan variance and the alignment and navigation test with static condition and the land navigation test with dynamic condition are carried out. The validity of inertial sensor model for KSLV-I INGU is verified by comparison the alignment and navigation results of INGU on-board software and Inertial Explorer.

  • Recently, due to the increase in the fine dust, regulations on PM generated from diesel cars are strengthened. There is a growing interest in diesel particulate filters (DPFs), a post-treatment device that removes exhaust gases from diesel vehicles. Therefore, one of the enhancements of the DPF efficiency is to reduce the pressure drop in the DPF, thereby increasing the efficiency of the filter and regeneration. In this study, the effect of cell density, channel shape, wall thickness, and inlet channel ratio of 5.66" SiC and Cordierite DPF on the pressure drop in DPF was investigated using ANSYS FLUENT simulator. As a result of the experiment, the pressure drop was smaller at 300 CPSI than 200 CPSI, and the anisotropy and O / S cell showed less than Isotropy by pressure drop of about 1,000 Pa. As the porosity increased by 10% the pressure drop was reduced by about 300 Pa and as the wall thickness increased by 0.05 mm, the pressure drop was increased by about 500 Pa.

  • As the society increasingly embraces the high - tech digital information age, the field of image processing becomes progressively more branched out and becoming an imperative field. However, image data is deteriorated due to various causes during transmission and salt and pepper noise is typical. Typical methods for removing salt and pepper noise include CWMF, SWMF, and A-TMF. However, existing methods are somewhat insufficient in their ability to remove noise in salt and pepper noise environments. Therefore, in this paper, after it is determined whether noise removal is needed, the following measures were taken. If the center pixel was non-noise, the original pixel was preserved, If it was noise, we proposed a two - dimensional spline interpolation method and a median filter depending on the noise density of the local mask. For the purpose of objective judgment, we compared the results with that of existing methods and used PSNR (peak signal to noise ratio) as a judgment criterion.

  • This paper aims at faster processing and retrieval in fingerprint identification systems by reducing the amount of preprocessing and the size of the feature vector. The distribution of fingerprint directions is a set of local directions of ridges and furrows in small overlapped blocks in a fingerprint image. It is extracted initially as a set of 8-direction components through the Gabor filter bank. The discontinuous distribution of directions is smoothed to a continuous one and visualized as a direction image. Then the center of the distribution is selected as a reference point. A feature vector is composed of 192 sine values of the ridge angles at 32-equiangular positions with 6 different distances from the reference point in the direction image. Experiments show that the proposed algorithm performs the same level of correct identification as a conventional algorithm does, while speeding up the overall processing significantly by reducing the length of the feature vector.

  • In this paper, we propose an algorithm for extracting text regions from spam-mail images using color layer. The CLTE(color layer-based text extraction) divides the input image into eight planes as color layers. It extracts connected components on the eight images, and then classifies them into text regions and non-text regions based on the component sizes. We also propose an algorithm for recovering damaged text strokes from the extracted text image. In the binary image, there are two types of damaged strokes: (1) middle strokes such as 'ㅣ' or 'ㅡ' are deleted, and (2) the first and/or last strokes such as 'ㅇ' or 'ㅁ' are filled with black pixels. An experiment with 200 spam-mail images shows that the proposed approach is more accurate than conventional methods by over 10%.
