Seismic Anisotropy Physical Modeling with Vertical Transversely Isotropic Media (VTI 매질의 탄성파 이방성 축소모형실험)

  • Although conventional seismic data processing is based on the assumption that the media are isotropic, the subsurface is often anisotropy in shale formation or carbonate with cracks and fractures. This paper presents the anisotropic parameter and seismic modeling in transversely isotropic media with a vertical symmetry axis using seismic physical modeling. The experiment was successfully carried out with VTI media, laminated bakelite material, using contact transducer of p and s-wave transmission. The variation of velocities with angle of incidence was clearly shown in anisotropic material. Comparing these velocities with the calculated phase velocities, the (P) and (S)-wave velocity observed in anisotropic material was a very good agreement with the calculated values. Anisotropic parameter ${\varepsilon}$, ${\delta}$, ${\gamma}$ was estimated by using Lame's constant calculated from the observed velocity. For the purpose of testing (S)-wave polarization, a birefringence experiment was carried out. The higher velocity was associated with the polarization parallel to the fracture, and the lower velocity was associated with the polarization perpendicular to the fracture.

  • 국내에 건설되어 거의 20∼30년 가동되고 있는 발전설비, 석유화학 플랜트 등 거대설비 기기의 건전성(integrity) 및 신뢰성 확보와 잔존수명 예측을 위해서는 구조물 내부 또는 표층부에 존재하는 결 함의 특성을 아는 것과 함께 그 재료의 특정 부위에 어느정도의 응력이나 변형이 있는가를 아는 것이 매우 중요하다. 일반적으로 강 용접부의 비파괴적 결함검출에는 주로 SV파(vertically shear wave)와 SH파(horizontally shear wave)라 불리는 횡파를 이용한 초음파사각탐상법이 실용화되어 이용되고 있다. 그러나 비파괴적인 방법에 의한 실험적인 잔류응력 측정, 변형해석법에는 전기 저항 및 자기 스트레인 게이지법, X선회절법, 광탄성법(photoelasticity), 모아레(Mohr's)법, 레이저스펙클(Laser speackle)법, 응 력도료법, Barkhausen Nosise법, Caustics법 등이 제시되어 있으나 그 유용성 면에서는 아직 해결되야할 문제가 많이 남아 있는 실정이다. 응력이나 변형을 해석하는 방법으로 이론적 방법, 계산적 방법 실험적 방법이 잇다. 이론적 방법에는 재료 역학적으로 취급하는 방법, 탄성론 등이 있고, 계산적인 방법에는 유한요소법이 있지만, 이론적 방법이나 계산적 방법만으로는 해석이 불가능한 경우가 많기 때문에 실험 적 방법이 필요하게 된다. 이 글에서는 파괴 시험 또는 다른 비파괴평가기술에 비해 간편한 측정, 높은 측정정도, 시험결과 도출의 신속성, 검사비용의 절감 등 많은 장점을 가지고 있고 실험적으로 유용성이 일부 검증되고 있는 음탄성법(Acoustoelasticity)에 의한 잔류응력 측정법에 관해 소개하고자 한다.TEX> mg/L(평균 49 mg/L)로 비교적 안정적인 처리효율을 보여주었다. 본 연구결과 HVC 공정은 화학약품 사용량의 절감 및 이에 따른 화학슬러지 발생량의 감소를 기대 할 수 있는 친환경기술로 유지관리비를 최소화할 수 있는 장점이 있었다. 않은 사람들 중 미래의 검진실행의지에 건강소식지가 영향을 미친 경우는 48.7%였다. 보건교육을 받은 후 유방암 자가검진 실천율은 사업군에서 53.9%로 받기 전의 27.3%보다 증가하였으나 대조군의 경우는 별 차이가 없었다. 연령별로는 60대가 가장 높았고 사업군에서 검진율의 증가분은 30대가 가장 컸다. 교육수준별로는 사업군은 고졸이, 대조군은 전문대졸이 가장 높았고 사업군에서 검진율의 증가분은 고졸에서 가장 컸다. 보건교육 후 유방암과 관련된 건강지식의 정도는 사업군이 3.7점으로 대조군보다 유의하게 높았으며, 유방암 자가검진법을 실천하는 사람들의 동기는 ‘일반 대중매체의 영향’이 가장 많았으며 건강소식지가 동기인 경우도 20.4%였다. 사업군에서 건강소식지가 유방암 자가검진법 실천에 영향을 미친 경우가 79.6%였으며 유방암 자가검진법에 관한 보건교육을 받고 실천하지 않은 사람들 중 미래의 실천의지에 건강소식지가 영향을 미친 경우는 43.6%였다. 이상의 소견에서 지역주민을 대상으로 인쇄매체를 통한 보건교육은 인쇄물만으로도 쉽게 실천 할 수 있는 유방암 자가검진법이 가장 효과적이었으며, 자궁암검진에 관해서도 검진을 받을 수 있도록 지역사회의 보건의료의 하부구조를 정비하여 제도적 장치를 마련하고 정보를 제공한다면 자궁암검진 실천율도 증가할 것이다.고 12.9% 의 발달율을 보여 유의적인 차이를 보이지 않았다. 이상의 결과로 보아 핵이식 수정란을 효율적으로 생산하기 위하여

Experimental and Numerical Study of Berthing and Unberthing of LNG-Bunkering Vessels (실험 및 수치해석을 통한 LNG 벙커링 선박들의 이접안 안정성 평가 연구)

  • The IMO has adopted emission standards through Annex VI of the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships (MARPOL) that strictly prohibit the use of bunker C oil for vessels. In this study, we have adopted the turret-moored Floating LNG-Bunkering Terminal (FLBT) which is designed to receive the LNG from LNGCs and transfer it to LNG-bunkering shuttles in side-by-side moored condition. Numerical analyses were carried out using the high-order boundary-element method for four vessels at various relative distances. Mean wave drift forces were compared in an operational sea state. A model test was performed in the ocean engineering basin at the Korea Research Institute of Ships & Ocean Engineering (KRISO) to verify the safety of the berthing/unberthing operation. In the model test, a jig was designed to simulate tug boats pushing or pulling the bunkering vessels, so that the friction force of the g operation was not affected. Safety depended on the environmental direction, with more stable operation possible if the heading-control function of FLBT is applied to avoid beam-sea conditions.

Early Prediction of Liver Fibrosis Using Shear Wave Elastography (전단파 탄성 초음파(Shear Wave Elastography)를 이용한 조기 간섬유화 예측)

  • Non-invasive liver fibrosis diagnosis is crucial for patients with chronic liver diseases. Many patients cannot undergo liver tissue biopsy, so predicting the degree of liver fibrosis early through meaningful methods can reduce complications related to chronic liver diseases, such as liver cell carcinoma and cirrhosis. This study compared and analyzed the quantitative measurement of liver fibrosis using shear wave elastography in conjunction with liver ultrasound findings and their associations with serum biomarkers (p<0.05). The results showed that the shear wave elastography measurement in the normal group was 4.55 ± 0.69 kPa, while the abnormal contrast group with echogenic patterns had a measurement of 8.27 ± 1.83 kPa. The hepatitis B carrier group exhibited higher shear wave elastography measurements, and among serum biomarkers, AST, ALT, GGT, and PT showed statistically significant positive correlations with fibrosis severity according to SWE categories (p<0.05), while ALP and TB did not demonstrate statistically significant differences (p=0.163, p=0.567). Conversely, Albumin and PLT showed significant negative correlations (p<0.05). Clinically, utilizing shear wave elastography measurements through liver ultrasound in the tracking and repeat testing of liver fibrosis in chronic hepatitis B patients without cirrhosis can assist in achieving more objective diagnoses among healthcare providers.

The Clinical Analysis of Lateral Discoid Meniscus in Adults Over 40 years old (40세 이상에서 발견된 외측 원판형 연골의 임상분석)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyze the clinical results of symptomatic lateral discoid meniscus found in adults over 40 years old. Materials & Methods: From March 1994 to March 2004, 53 cases treated for lateral discoid meniscus in 48 patients aged over 40 years with the mean age $48.4(40{\sim}62)$ who were followed up more than 1 year, were analyzed by physical findings, simple X-ray, MRI and arthroscopic exam. Results: Most of the cases (42 cases, 79.2%) had symptoms for less than 1 year duration. 26 cases(49.1 %) out of 53 had trauma history. Simple radiologic evaluation showed that lateral condylar abnormality such as the flattening of lateral femoral condyle, marginal osteophytes, and subchondral sclerosis was seen in 37cases(69.8%). Also medial condyle showed degenerative changes in 16 cases (30.2%). Tear of discoid meniscus in 45 cases(84.9%) were examined by arthroscope and tear was not detected in 8 cases(15.1%). Type of tear was complex(18 cases), longitudinal(12 cases), horizontal(11 cases) and transverse(4 cases). Concomitant medial meniscal rupture was found in 7 cases(13.2%). The simple procedure done was reshaping(46 cases), subtotal resection(5 cases), total resection(1 case) and meniscal repair after reshaping in 6 cases, and arthroplasty was performed after arthroscopic examination in 1 case. Conclusion: Onset of symptom in adult lateral discoid meniscus is usually traumatic in origin. Most cases showed radiologic abnormality such as degenerative change in lateral condyles as well as medial condyles and the results of preservative surgical treatment was the most preferred option in most patients.

S-Wave Velocities Beneath Jeju Island, Korea, Using Inversion of Receiver Functions and the H-κ Stacking Method (수신함수 역산 및 H-κ 중합법을 이용한 제주도 하부의 S파 지각 속도)

  • Shear-wave velocity ($v_s$) structures beneath two seismic stations, JJU and JJB on the flanks of the volcano Halla on Jeju island, Korea, were estimated by receiver-function inversion and H-${\kappa}$ stacking applied to 150 teleseismic events ($M_W{\geq}5.5$) recorded since 2007. $P_S$ waves converted at the Moho discontinuity does not appear clearly for northwesterly back-azimuths ($207{\sim}409^{\circ}$, average $308^{\circ}$) at station JJU and southeasterly back-azimuths ($119{\sim}207^{\circ}C$, average $163^{\circ}$) at station JJB. This may be due to a gradual velocity increase at Moho or heterogeneity within the crust. The $v_s$ models derived by inversion of receiver functions indicate a distinct low velocity layer ($v_s{\leq}3.5km/s$; LVL) within the crust and a gradual increase in $v_s$ in the depth interval of 30 to 40 km. Within the radius of 18 km beneath station JJB, the LVL occurs at depths of 14 ~ 26 km and the 'Moho' ($v_s{\geq}4.3km/s$) is at 34 km depth. Ten kilometers to the west, within the radius of 16 km beneath station JJU, both the LVL and the Moho are significantly shallower, at depths of 14 to 24 km and 30 km, respectively. H-${\kappa}$ analyses for stations JJU and JJB yield estimated crustal thickness of 29 and 33 km and $v_p/v_s$ ratios of 1.64 and 1.75, respectively. The lesser $v_p/v_s$ ratio was derived for rocks nearest to th peak of the volcano.

Static and dynamic elastic properties of the Iksan Jurassic Granite, Korea (익산 쥬라기 화강암의 정 및 동탄성학적 특성)

  • The Iksan Jurassic Granite shows relatively less fractures and homogeneous rock fabrics, and is one of the most popular stone materials for architectures and sculptures. Almost mutually perpendicular rift, grain, and halfway in the Iksan Jurassic Granite are well known to quarrymen based on its splitting directions, and therefore it should exhibit orthorhombic symmetry. Theoretically, there are 9 independent elastic stiffness coefficients $(C_{1111},\;C_{2222},\;C_{3333},\;C_{2323},\;C_{1313},\;C_{1212},\;C_{1122},\;C_{2233},\;and\;C_{1133})$ for orthorhombic anisotropy. In order to characterize the static and dynamic elastic properties of the Iksan Jurassic Granite, triaxial strains under uniaxial compressive stresses and ultrasonic velocities of elastic waves in three different polarizations are measured. Both experiments are carried out with six directional core samples from massive rock body. Using the results of experiments and the densities measured independently, the static and dynamic elastic coefficients are computed by simple mathematical manipulation derived from the governing equations for general anisotropic media. The static elastic coefficients increase ar uniaxial compressive stress rises. Among those, the static elastic coefficients at uniaxial compressive stress of a 24.5 MPa appear to be similar to the dynamic elastic coefficients under ambient condition. Although some deviations are observed, the preferred orientations of microcracks appear to be parallel or subparallel to the rift, the grain, and the hardway from microscopic observation of thin sections. This indicates that the preferred orientations of microcracks cause the elastic anisotropy of the Iksan Jurassic Granite. The results are to be applied to the effective use of the Iksan Jurassic Granite as stone materials, and can be used for the non-destructive safety test.
