Surface Treatment of Al(OH)3 using Dilute Hydrofluoric Acid Aqueous Solution (저농도 HF 수용액을 이용한 Al(OH)3의 표면처리)

  • Treatment effects of dilute hydrofluoric acid (6 wt% HF) on the surface properties of $Al(OH)_3$ were investigated at the molar ratio of F/Al(fluoride/aluminum)=0.15. Temperature and pH variations in the reaction system were recorded to analyze reaction mechanism between $Al(OH)_3$ and aqueous Hf. The reaction of HF to the surface of $Al(OH)_3$ accompanied with a quantity of heat evolution, resulting in increasing temperature of a reactionsystem. And also the reaction was proceeded as transitional state which metastable ${\alpha}-form\;AlF_3{\cdot}3H_2O$ was transferred to insoluble ${\beta}$-form. The resulting ${\beta}-form\;AlF_3{\cdot}3H_2O$ formed by a surface treatment was identified by FT-IR and X-ray diffractormetry. The formation of ${\beta}$-form aluminum fluoride hydrates with diameter less than $1{\mu}m$ on the surface of $Al(OH)_3$ could be visulaized by SEM imgae, making up a coating layer as precipitate-like. The surface whiteness of $Al(OH)_3$ treated with aqueous HF was furthermore increased approximately 6.6% due to the formation of surface hydrates.

Microstructure and Strength of Alkali-Activated Kaolin-Fly Ash Blend Binder (카올린-플라이애시 혼합 알칼리 활성화 결합재의 미세구조 및 강도 특성)

  • This study presents microstructural characteristics and strength properties of alkali-activated kaolin(K)-fly ash(FA) blends binders. The compressive strength, X-ray diffraction(XRD), thermogravimetric(TG) analysis and SEM/EDS were measured for hardened samples. The results were shown that all the samples had developed the compressive strength over time, regardless of replacement levels of K. It was found that when the amount of K increased, the strengths of samples decreased. In XRD result, no new crystalline phases were observed in all the hardened samples other than the crystalline components of raw FA and K, whereas TG analysis showed that N-A-S-H gel was formed as a reaction product in all the samples. Samples did not have the typical microstructure of dense, and there is little significant difference between the microstructures of the samples despite the differences in the strength testing results with replacement ratios of K. This study showed that the strength of sample was larger for lower Si/Al ratio of reaction product formed in sample. According to the correlation between Si/Al ratio and strength in this study, it is expected that if a chemical additive is used for lowering the Si/Al ratio of reaction product(i.e., increasing the $Al_2O_3$ solubility) in alkali-activated K-FA blends binders, strength improvement in K-FA blends binders could be achieved.

Nitrided LATP Solid Electrolyte for Enhanced Chemical Stability in Alkaline Media (질화 처리된 LATP 고체전해질의 알칼라인 용액내에서의 내화학특성 개선 연구)

  • In the present work, to increase the chemical stability of the lithium-ion-conducting ceramic electrolyte ($Li_{1+x+y}Al_xTi_{2-x}Si_yP_{3-y}O_{12}$, LATP) in the strong alkaline solution, the surface of LATP was modified by the nitridation process. The surface and structural properties of nitride LATP solid electrolyte were characterized by X-ray diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectrometer and scanning electron microscopy and ac-impedance spectroscopy, which were correlated to the chemical stability and electrochemical performance of LATP. The nitrided LATP immersed in the alkaline solution for 30 days exhibits the enhanced chemical stability than the pristine LATP. Moreover, a rechargeable hybrid Li-air battery constructed with the nitrided LATP solid electrolyte shows considerably reduced discharge-charge voltage gaps (enhanced the round-trip efficiency) in comparison to the cell constructed with pristine LATP, which indicate that the surface nitridation process can be the efficient way to improve the chemical stability of solid electrolyte in alkaline media.

Chemical Weathering Index of Clastic Sedimentary Rocks in Korea (국내 쇄설성 퇴적암의 화학적 풍화지수 고찰)

  • Evaluation of the weathering index using the quantitative element composition of rocks is very effective in predicting the degree of weathering of rocks and the secondary weathering residuals. While the process of weathering varies according to the types of rocks, the study of weathering in Korea is concentrated on acidic igneous rocks. This study calculated the weathering indices using whole rock analysis (X-ray fluorescence analysis) of sandstone, mudstone, and shale belonging to clastic sedimentary rocks. The statistical significance of the indices was examined based on the correlation of the calculated weathering indices. Clastic sedimentary rocks showed higher significance of Wp, CIA, CIW and PIA weathering index indicating weathering of feldspar. Chemical Index of alteration (CIA) has the advantage of predicting weathering pathway and clay mineral production, but it is effective to consider chemical index of weathering index (CIW) simultaneously to improve accuracy. In order to reduce uncertainties due to carbonate rocks and to estimate the accurate weathering index, rock samples with high CaO content should be excluded from the evaluation of weathering index.

Preparation and Characterization of New NiO-ZrO2/WO3 Catalyst for Ethylene Dimerization (에틸렌 이량화를 위한 새로운 NiO-ZrO2/WO3촉매의 제조와 특성)

  • A series of catalysts, $NiO-ZrO_2/WO_3$, for ethylene dimerization were prepared by coprecipitation from a solution of nickel chloride - zirconium oxychloride mixture followed by dry impregnation with an aqueous solution of ammonium metatungstate and calcination in air. On the basis of the results obtained from x-ray diffraction and DSC, the addition of NiO and $WO_3$ to $ZrO_2$ shifted the transition of $ZrO_2$ from amorphous to a tetragonal phase toward higher temperatures due to the interaction between NiO(or $WO_3$) and $ZrO_2$. $NiO-ZrO_2$ without $WO_3$ was inactive for the ethylene dimerization, but $NiO-ZrO_2/WO_3$ was found to be very active even at room temperature. The high catalytic activity of $NiO-ZrO_2/WO_3$ was closely correlated with the increase of acid strength by the inductive effect of $WO_3$.

Growth of artificial Pb$ZrO_3$/Pb$TiO_3$ superlattices by pulsed laser deposition and their electrical properties (펄스레이져 증착법을 이용한 Pb$ZrO_3$/Pb$TiO_3$ 산화물 인공격자의 성장 및 전기적 특성)

  • 최근 새로운 개념에 물성 구현을 위한 강유전체 산화물 인공격자의 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 펄스레이져 증착법을 이용하여 산소분압 100 mTorr와 증착온도 50$0^{\circ}C$에서 LSCO/MgO 기판 위에 PbTiO$_3$(PTO) 와 PbZrO$_3$(PZO)을 주기적으로 적층하여 강유전체 산화물 인공격자를 형성하였다. 인공격자의 주기는 1~100 unitcell 까지 변화시켰다. 적층주기와 두께 변화에 따른 PZO/PTO 인공격자의 성장과 전기적 특성에 대하여 관찰하였다. X선 회절분석을 통하여 PZO/PTO 인공격자는 주기가 25 unit cell 이하의 적층구조에서 초격자의 형성으로 인한 위성피크가 관찰되었으며, 그 이하의 낮은 주기(1~10 unitcell)에서는 위성피크와 강한 (100)과 (200) 성장거동을 보였다. 높은 주기에서는 c축 성장된 PTO와 a축 성장된 PZO 각각의 성장거동을 보였다. 적층 주기가 감소함에 따라 a축 성장된 PTO와 c축 성장된 PZO가 초격자를 형성하였다. 적층주기가 감소함에 따라 유전상수와 잔류분극값이 향상되었다. 유전상수는 1 unitcell 주기에서 800정도의 값을 보였고, 잔류분극값은 2 unitcell 주기에서 2Pr=38.7 $\mu$C/$\textrm{cm}^2$ 정도의 가장 큰 값을 나타냈다. 적층주기가 2 unitcell에서 두께가 감소함에 따라 유전상수가 감소하였고, 20 nm 까지 분극반전에 의한 capacitance-voltage 특성곡선의 이력 현상(강유전성)을 관찰하였다. 이러한 산화물 인공초격자에서의 유전상수와 잔류분극값의 향상에 대하여 논의 할 것이며, 임계크기효과 관점에서 나노사이즈(50 nm~5 nm)에서 인공초격자의 전기적 분극의 안정성에 대하여 또한 논의 할 것이다.소수성 가스의 경우70% 이상 향상되었음을 알 수 있었으며, 본 연구를 통해 광분해를 이용한 스크러버가 기존설비의 장.단점을 충분히 보완 가능한 환경 설비임을 확인할 수 있었다. duty로 구동하였으며, duty비 증가에 따라 pulse의 on-time을 고정하고 frequency를 변화시켰다. dc까지 duty비가 증가됨에 따라 방출전류의 양이 선형적으로 증가하였다. 전압을 일정하게 고정시키고 각 duty비에서 시간에 따라 방출전류를 측정한 결과 duty비가 높을수록 방출전류가 시간에 따라 급격히 감소하였다. 각 duty비에서 방출전류의 양이 1/2로 감소하는 시점을 에미터의 수명으로 볼 때 duty비 대 에미터 수명관계를 구해 높은 duty비에서 전계방출을 시킴으로써 실제의 구동조건인 낮은 duty비에서의 수명을 단시간에 예측할 수 있었다. 단속적으로 일어난 것으로 생각된다.리 폐 관류는 정맥주입 방법에 비해 고농도의 cisplatin 투여로 인한 다른 장기에서의 농도 증가 없이 폐 조직에 약 50배 정도의 고농도 cisplatin을 투여할 수 있었으며, 또한 분리 폐 관류 시 cisplatin에 의한 직접적 폐 독성은 발견되지 않았다이 낮았으나 통계학적 의의는 없었다[10.0%(4/40) : 8.2%(20/244), p>0.05]. 결론: 비디오흉강경술에서 재발을 낮추기 위해 수술시 폐야 전체를 관찰하여 존재하는 폐기포를 놓치지 않는 것이 중요하며, 폐기포를 확인하지 못한 경우와 이차성 자연기흉에 대해서는 흉막유착술에 더 세심한 주의가 필요하다는 것을 확인하였다. 비디오흉강경수술은 통증이 적고, 입원기간이 짧고, 사회로의 복귀가 빠르며, 고위험군에 적용할 수 있고, 무엇보다도 미용상의 이점이 크다는 면에서 자연기흉에 대해 유용한 치료방법임에는 틀림이 없으나 개흉술에 비해 재발율이 높고 비용이 비싸다는 문제가 제기되고 있는 만큼 더 세심한 주의와 장기 추적관찰이 필요하리라 사료된

Physicochemical Properties of Pigmented Rice Starch (Suwon-415) (수원 415호 유색미 전분의 이화학적 특성)

  • Physicochemical and gelatinization properties of Suwon-415 pigmented rice starch were determined. The median and mean particle sizes of Suwon-415 pigmented rice starch were 5.23 and $6.27\;{\mu}m$, whereas those of non-glutinous rice starch were 4.71 and $5.43\;{\mu}m$ respectively. Water-binding capacity, iodine reaction and intrinsic viscosity of Suwon-415 pigmented rice starch were lower than those of non-glutinous rice starch. X-ray diffraction patterns showed traditional A type of cereals and relative crystalline of both samples showed no difference. Peak viscosity, breakdown and setback were increased with increasing weight of starches.

Study on the improvement of prediction model for the railway environmental noise using ISO 9613-2 (ISO 9613-2를 이용한 철도 환경소음 예측 모델 개선에 관한 연구)

  • Approximate empirical equations obtained by measuring overall noise levels at different distances have been used to evaluate environmental influence of the railway noise though the accurate prediction of noise levels is important. In this paper, a noise prediction model considering the frequency characteristics of noise sources and propagation was suggested to improve the accuracy of noise prediction. The railway noise source was assorted into track, wheel, traction and aerodynamic components and they were characterized with the source strength and speed coefficient at each octave-band frequency. Correction terms for the acoustic roughness and the track/bridge condition were introduced. The sound attenuation from a source to a receiver was calculated taking account of the geometrical divergence, atmospheric absorption, ground effect, diffraction at obstacles and directivity of source by applying ISO 9613-2. For obtaining the source strength and speed coefficients, the results of rolling noise model, numerical analysis and measurements of pass-by noise were analyzed. We compared the predicted and measured noise levels in various vehicles and tracks, and verified the accuracy of the present model. It is found that the present model gives less error than the conventional one, so that it can be applied to make the accurate prediction of railway noise effect and establish its countermeasures efficiently.

Decomposition of Toluene over Transition Metal Oxide Catalysts (전이금속 산화물 촉매를 이용한 톨루엔 분해)

  • Toluene, which is emitted from textile process, is considered as an important hazardous air pollutant. In this study, the catalytic activity of transition metal oxides(Cu, Mn, V, Cr, Co, Ni, Ce, Sn, Fe, Sr, Cs, Mo, La, W, Zn)/${\gamma}-Al_2O_3$ catalysts was investigated to carry out the complete oxidation of toluene. The metal catalysts were characterized by XRD-ray diffraction), FE-SEM(Field Emission Scanning Electron Micrograph), BET(Brunauer Emmett Teller) method and TPR(Temperature Programmed Reduction). Among the catalysts, Cu/${\gamma}-Al_2O_3$ was highly promising catalyst for the oxidation of toluene. From the BET results, it seems that the catalytic activity is not correlated to the specific surface area. XRD results indicated that most of catalysts exist as amorphous phase. From the FE-SEM results, it was observed that copper on ${\gamma}-Al_2O_3$ surface was well dispersed among catalysts. The catalytic activity for the toluene oxidation could be explained with that metal oxide catalyst was dispersed well over supports and was attributed to reduction activity in surface of catalysts.

Numerical Prediction of Ship Induced Wave and its Propagation Using Nonlinear Dispersive Wave Model (비선형분산파랑모형을 이용한 항주파의 발생과 전파에 관한 수치예측모형 개발)

  • The characteristics of ship induced waves caused by navigation become widely different from both ship's speed and water depth condition. The ship induced waves specially generated in coastwise routes frequently give rise to call unforeseen danger for swimmers and small boats as well as shoreline erosion or sea wall destruction in coastal zones. The main concern of ship induced wave study until now is either how to reduce ship resistance or how to manoeuvre the ship safely under a constant water depth in the view point of shipbuilding engineers. Moreover, due to the trends for appearance of the high speed ships at the shallow coastal water, we are confronted with the danger of damages from those ship induced waves. Therefore, it is necessary to examine the development of ship induced waves and the influence of their deformation effects according to its propagation ray. In present study, in order to predict the development of the ship induced waves and their propagation under the conditions of complicate and variable shallow water depth with varying ship's speed, we constructed a computer model using Boussinesq equation with a fixed coordinate system and verified the model results by comparison with experimental results. Additionally, the model was applied under the variable water depth based on actual passage and we then confirmed the importance of the variable water depth consideration.
