A Numerical and Experimental Procedure for the Open Water Characteristics of Contra-Rotating Propellers for EEDI Improvement (EEDI 개선을 위한 상반 회전 프로펠러 단독성능 분석용 수치해석과 모형시험에 대한 연구)

  • Recently, contra-rotating propellers (CRP) having higher efficiency draw much attention since the EEDI regulation of IMO has been enforced. In this paper a numerical method based on the vortex lattice potential theory with a wake model and an experimental procedure with a newly built measuring device, specifically focusing on CRPs, are introduced. And they are applied to a series of CRP known to be designed for the purpose of improving EEDI. The numerical and experimental results showed good agreement explaining the characteristics of the CRP properly. The proposed method is believed to be effectively used for various CRP related studies.

  • An actuator mixer design using convex optimization technique situation where the propulsion system of an electric VTOL UAV during vertical take-off and landing maneuvers is proposed. The attainable control set to analyze the impact from failure of each motor and propeller can be calculated and illustrated using the properties of the convex function. The control allocation can be defined as a convex function optimization problem to obtain an optimal solution in real time. The mixer is implemented using a convex optimization solver, and the performance of the control allocation methods is compared to the attainable control set. Finally, the proposed mixer is compared with other techniques with nonlinear sux degree-of-freedom simulation.

Core-loss Reduction on Permanent Magnet for IPMSM with Concentrated Winding (집중권을 시행한 영구자석 매입형 동기전동기의 철손 저감)

  • Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous motors (IPMSM) with concentrated winding are superior to distributed winding in the power density point of view. But it causes huge amount of eddy current losses on the permanent magnet. This paper presents the optimal permanent magnet V-shape on the rotor of an interior permanent magnet synchronous motor to reduce the core losses and improve the performance. Each eddy current loss on permanent magnet has been investigated in detail by using FEM (Finite Element Method) instead of equivalent magnetic circuit network method in order to consider saturation and non-linear magnetic property. Simulation-based design of experiment is also applied to avoid large number of analyses according to each design parameter and consider expected interactions among parameters. Consequently, the optimal design to reduce the core loss on the permanent magnet while maintaining or improving motor performance is proposed by an optimization algorithm using regression equation derived and lastly, it is verified by FEM.

A Multi-path Search Algorithm for Multi-purpose Activities (다목적 정보 제공을 위한 다경로 탐색 기법 개발)

  • It is known that over one million car navigation devices are being currently used in Korea. Most. if not all, route guidance systems, however, Provide only one "best" route to users, not providing any options for various types of users to select. The current practice dose not consider each individual's different preferences. These days, a vast amount of information became available due to the rapid development in information processing technology. Thus, users Prefer choices to be given and like to select the one that suits him/her the "best" among available information. To provide such options in this Paper, we developed an algorithm that provides alternative routes that may not the "least cost" ones, but ones that are close to the "least cost" routes for users to select. The algorithm developed and introduced in the paper utilizes a link-based search method, rather than the traditional node-based search method. The link-based algorithm can still utilize the existing transportation network without any modifications, and yet enables to provide flexible route guidance to meet the various needs of users by allowing transfer to other modes and/or restricting left turns. The algorithm developed has been applied to a toy network and demonstrated successful implementation of the multi-path search algorithm for multi-purpose activities.

  • 동영상은 각 프레임 사이에 시간적으로나 공간적으로 많은 양의 정보가 중복되어 있다. 이러한 중복 정보를 줄이는 표현 방법들 중에 하나로, 동영상을 커다란 하나의 영상으로 정합하여 중복 정보를 줄이는 모자이크 기법이 있다. 두 개 이상의 영상을 정합하기 위해서는 영상간의 카메라 파라미터가 필요한데, 본 논문에서는 Mellin 변환을 사용하여 카메라 파라미터를 구하였다. 이때 3차원 공간모델은 직교 투사법을 사용하였으며, 영상의 움직임 모델로는 4개의 파라미터(평행이동, 확대/축소, 회전)를 사용한 어파인 움직임 모델을 사용하였다. 이렇게 구현된 파노라마 영상은 동영상에서 움직이는 물체를 검출하거나 추적하고, 동영상을 편집하는데 응용될 수 있다. 또한 본 연구의 최종 목적인 3D 영상의 배경을 구현하는 데 좀 더 사실적인 영상을 제공할 수 있다.

Developed Inherent Strain Method Considering Phase Transformation of Mild Steel in Line Heating (선상가열시 강의 상변태를 고려한 개선된 고유변형도 기반의 등가하중법)

  • The inherent strain method is known to be very efficient in predicting the deformation of steel plate by line heating. However, in the actual line heating process in shipyard, the rapid quenching changes the phase of steel. In this study, In order to consider additional effects under phase transformation, inherent strain regions were assumed to expand. Also, when calculating inherent strain, material properties of steel in heating and cooling are applied differently considering phase transformation. In this process, a new method which can reflect thermal volume expansion of martensite is suggested.8y the suggested method, it was possible to predict the plate deformations by line heating more precisely.

  • An initial rotor position estimation method is proposed in this study for an interior permanent-magnet synchronous motor without a resolver or an absolute encoder. This method uses least squares approximation to estimate the initial rotor position. The magnetic polarity is identified by injection of short pulses. The proposed estimation process is robust because it does not require complex signal processing that depends on the performance of a digital filter. In addition, it can be applied to various servo systems because it does not require additional hardware. Experimental results validate the effectiveness of the proposed method using a standard industrial servomotor with interior-permanent magnets.

  • The variation of systematic bias errors in the wind tunnel testing has been studied. A Design of Experiments(DOE) approach to an experimental study of fuselage drag and stability characteristics of a helicopter configuration was applied. When forces and moments measured in one time block differ significantly from measurements made in another time block under assumption that sample observations can be expected to yield same results within permissible measuring errors. The practical implication of this paper is that the systematic error can not be assumed not to exist. The those error reduction could be achieved through the process of randomization, blocking, and replication of the data points.

  • In this paper, compared to the RT algorithm that constitutes CT images, the TPSM algorithm available in the conical CB-CT system was applied to enable 3D CT image configuration faster than the existing RT, and the image speeds of the two algorithms were compared and analyzed. To this end, the TPSM algorithm available in the conical CB-CT system was applied to enable real-time processing in 3D CT image composition. As a result of the experiment, it was found that the cross-sectional image constructed using TPSM decreases the quality of the image slightly by empty pixels as the distance from the center point increases, but in the case of TPSM rotation-based methods, the image composition speed is far superior to that of the RT algorithm.

  • 필드 워핑은 상대적으로 많은 연산량을 요구하는 것에 반해 제어선을 이용하여 워핑 결과를 좀 더 세밀하게 제어할 수 있는 것이 장점이다. 필드 영상 워핑 및 모핑의 동작 특성상, 국부적인 영상 확대와 축소 및 회전 등과 같은 다양한 기하학적인 변형이 복합적으로 발생하게 되는데 역방향 매핑 과정에서 소스 영상과 목적 영상의 화소가 정수 화소 단위로 대응되지 않을 경우, 목적 영상에 대응시킬 화소값을 산출하기 위해 적합한 영상 보간 기술이 필요하다. 다양한 보간 기술들 중에서 평균적으로 우수한 결과를 제공하는 양선형 보간이 보편적으로 사용되고 있으나, 이 보간 기술은 대각선 방향의 윤곽선 재현에 한계를 가지고 있다. 본 논문은 필드 워핑과 모핑을 위한 pseudomedian 필터 기반 영상보간법을 제안하고 주관적인 화질을 분석 평가함에 그 목적이 있다. 제안된 보간 방법은 양선형 보간과 윤곽선 재현에 우수한 특성을 보이는 pseudomedian 필터 보간을 효과적으로 결합한 것이다. 제안된 방법에 따르면 다른 보간 기법에 비해 상대적으로 자연스러운 워핑 및 모핑 결과를 얻을 수 있다. 제안된 방법의 타당성과 보편성을 검증하기 위해 서로 다른 분포 특성을 갖는 영상을 대상으로 주간적인 화질 측면에서 그 성능을 분석 평가하였다.
