The characteristics of tilted grating in depressed- and step- index fiber and its application (Depressed index type과 Step index type 광섬유에서의 경사진 브래그격자 특성과 응용)

  • Fiber Bragg grating which has a blazed ang1e to the plane of incident wave generates a side-mode as well as main-mode. The side-mode has an identical characteristics with a long period grating that couples with a cladding mode, so rejects the special wavelength. We experimented on the side-mode characteristics with two fibers which Ge doped depressed index fiber and very high photosensitive H$_2$ loaded step index fiber according to the tilted angle. Also, using a phase mask equipped with rotation plate which has 0.02$^{\circ}$ resolution, we can control the bandwidth and the peak value of a total loss spectrum by aligned tilted grating in a fiber and using this, tried to compose the ASE band rejection filter of the Erbium doped fiber amplifier.

  • 지적도는 모든 지도중 가장 큰 대축척 지도이며 토지에 대하여 필지별로 지번, 위치 및 경계 등 소유권의 범위를 등록하는 것으로서 국민의 기본권리인 토지에 대한 소유권과 그 이용을 보장할 수 있는 가장 기본적인 특성을 가지고 있다. 도형자료인 현재의 지적도는 1910년 토지조사사업에 의하여 실제 토지필지를 1/1,200로 축소하여 도면에 등록한 도해지적으로 제도오차, 축척오차, 신축오차, 도곽접합 등의 기술적인 오차와 측량을 할 때마다 각기 측량사에 따라 개인오차의 누적으로 성과결정에 있어서 차질을 가져다주고 있다. 따라서 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위하여는 지적재조사사업이 가장 바람직하지만 복잡한 과정을 거쳐야 함으로 그 이전에라도 축척변경사업을 통하여 새로운 지적체계로서 토지이용상태에 따라 토지의 경계를 수치좌표로 등록하는 수치지적체계로 전환하여 지적측량의 정확도와 정밀도를 높여 지적불부합지에 대한 민원을 해소함으로써 재산적 가치를 증대할 뿐만 아니라 국민의 소유권 보호 및 양질의 서비스 개선에 그 목적이 있다. 본 연구에서는 해당지역의 지적도를 독취, 정도곽으로 보정하여 일필지를 공부상면적의 공차범위 이내로 조정한 후 현형도와 지적도를 조정(Orientation)하여 좌표를 저장하였다. 일필지 좌표결정 방법에는 CAD기능을 이용하여 컴퓨터의 모니터에서 지적도를 이동 및 회전함으로써 위치를 결정하는 방식, 모니터상에서 국부적으로 위치를 결정하는 방식 및 디지타이져상에서 결정하여 모니터상에서 조정하는 방식있다. 현실적으로 국부적인 방법이 합리적이라고 생각되어 모니터상에서 조정(Orientation)하여 국부적으로 좌표 위치를 결정하는 방법으로 연구하고 성과를 비교, 검토하였으며, 그 결과 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 1. 지적도면은 토지조사사업 한지를 배접한 켄트지를 사용함으로써 종이의 신축으로 인하여 정도곽으로 보정을 하면 독취면적은 대부분 공부상면적보다 늘어났다. 2. 좌표의 이동량이 일률적이지 못하므로 기초점에 대한 문제라고 생각되며, 따라서 도해지적을 수치지적으로 전환함에 있어서 가장 우선되어야 할 사항이 기초점 정비라 하겠다.

  • 미곡종합처리장 (RPC)에서 수행되고 있는 쇄미선별공정의 개선을 통해, 국내산 백미제품의 쇄립 혼입상태를 보다 더 정밀하게 관리하기 위한 기초 연구로서, 실험 결과를 바탕으로하여 국내 유통백미 제품의 등급판정에 사용할 수 있는 쇄립 기준을 결정하여 제시하였다. 연구결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1. 백미제품 중의 쇄립 허용 혼입율에 관한 우리나라의 규격은, 일본백미 1등 표준품의 기준 및 미국백미 1등급 제품의 기준에 비견될 정도였지만, 쇄립의 정의 자체는 엄격하지 않았다. 또한, 미국과 일본과는 달리, 쇄립 혼입율 차이에 따른 백미 제품의 등급 체제가 존재하지 않았다. 이러한 사실을 종합하여 일본과 미국의 규격과 비교했을 때, 쇄미 혼입에 관한 한 우리나라는 매우 관대한 규격을 적용하고 있다고 판단된다. 2. 국내 유통백미 제품의 경우, 완전립 길이의 3/4 이상인 낟알들이 차지하는 중량 구성비는 93.5%였다. 완전립 길이의 $\frac{1}{4}$∼1/3, 1/3∼$\frac{1}{2}$, $\frac{1}{2}$∼2/3 및 2/3∼$\frac{3}{4}$에 해당하는 길이를 가진 낟알들의 중량비는 각각 0.3, 2.8, 2.7 및 0.6%이어서, 쇄립들의 길이는 2.5mm를 중심으로 주로 분포되어 있었다. 쇄립 혼입정도에 따른 국내 유통백미 제품의 등급은 한국과 일본의 기준을 적용할 경우, 쇄립의 총량 면에서는 만족할만한 수준이었다. 그러나, 한국의 잔싸라기 기준, 일본의 이물 함유비 기준, 미국의 6호체 통과분 기준이 적용될 경우, 국내 유통백미 제품의 등급은 매우 불량하였다. 3. 거의 모든 RPC에서는 쇄미선별설비로 로타리 시프터를 채택, 사용하고 있었으며, 로타리시프터 사용상의 문제는 회전몸체를 지지하는 rod spring의 파손 등 구조와 관련된 것이었다. 로타리 시프터에 의한 쇄립의 선별과 제거정도는 만족할 만한 수준은 아니었다. 4. 국내 유통백미 완전립의 길이, 폭, 두께는 각각 5.02mm, 2.93mm, 2.03mm이었으며, 산물밀도와 천립중은 각각 745.3kg/m3 및 20.46g이었다. 5. RPC 백미제품의 품질경쟁력 향상을 유도하고자 현행 쇄미의 정의와 기준을 보다 강화하여 다음과 같은 쇄미 기준과 계급을 설정, 제시하였다. "완전립" - 길이가 3.75mm이상인 미립 "준완전립" - 길이가 2.5∼3.75mm인 미립 "쇄미" - 길이가 1.75∼2.5 mm인 미립 "이물" - 길이가 1.75mm이하인 미립.

  • Faults in electric power system can be a critical problem for vehicles. The system durability is determined mainly by the durability of their components and operating conditions. Monitoring the conditions of the electric power system may be necessary because it is very difficult to predict precisely when it will fail. Therefore, the aim of this study was to develop a diagnosis system for an electric power system of a vehicle. The alternator voltage, excitation voltage, lamp voltage, battery voltage, and engine rpm from a crank angle sensor are monitored continuously and the system fault can be then detected in real time. NI USB- 9201 DAQ and LabVIEW SW have been used to measure the voltages and analyze the data. Compared to conventional measurements for only each component, an integrated and portable measurement method was developed. In addition to the monitoring the electric power system in real time, the saved data from the measurement also provides valuable information to improve the durability of the components.

  • NC machines are generally used for machining operations because of their position accuracy, path accuracy, and machining reaction force. However, some NC machines require a very large space and are expensive. Recently, industrial articulated robot arms with large handling capability and wrist torque have been developed and the corresponding sensor technology has been improved. A machining robot for three-dimensional large curved objects was developed on the basis of an automatic-path-generation method. A self-position-compensation method with a laser displacement sensor was adopted for the six-axis robot developed, because the large articulated robot arms had poor position accuracy. An automatic-path-generation method using specific points was adopted to reduce the number of teaching points and time. In order to determine the proper machining conditions, various machining conditions such as tool rotation speed, cutting angle, cutting depth, and tool moving speed, were evaluated.

  • This paper explores an implementation of finite element analysis and experiment in the design process of a tape spring hinge used for various CubeSat missions. Tape spring hinges consist of short-length hardened-steel strips with one-sided curvature, and thus the behavior is subject to large deformation with unpredicted non-linearity. Precise dimensions of a commercial tape spring are traced by the use of high-resolution digital camera, and thin-shell FEM analysis is conducted using ABAQUS program. Based on the rotation-moment analysis suggested in previous studies, parametric analysis is conducted by adjusting the contributing factors such as strip thickness and the subtended angle of the cross section. Finally the behaviors are investigated by both analytical and non-linear finite element methods, and the results are compared with the simple measurements. Further studies suggest a possible application in dynamic characteristics of hinges during CubeSat operations.

  • A flight training simulator of a fully spherical configuration is being developed to precisely and quickly control six degrees of freedom (Dof) motions especially with unlimited rotations. The full-scale simulator should be designed with a lightweight material to reduce inertial effects for fast and stable feedback controls while no structural failure is ensured during operations. In this study, a sandwich composite consisting of glass fiber reinforced plastics and a foam core is used to obtain high specific strengths and specific stiffnesses. T-type stainless steel frames are inserted to minimize the deformation of the sphere curvature. Finite element analysis is carried out to evaluate structural safety of the simulator composed of the sandwich sphere and steel frames. The analysis considers the weights of the equipment and trainee and it is assumed to be 200 kg. Gravity acceleration is also considered. The stresses and displacement acting on the simulator are calculated and the safety is assessed under two different situations.

  • Artificial icing test and wind tunnel test can be performed to reduce the development period when a rotorcraft is required operation under icing situations. Artificial icing test of the KUH(Korean Utility Helicopter) was performed in advance to verify anti-icing and de-icing performance before natural icing test. Although high-precision sensor, the CCP(Cloud Combination Probe) is used to measure icing test condition parameters such as LWC(Liquid Water Content) and MVD(Median Volume Diameter), the measured values need to be verified in various methods due to the possibility of uncertainties which are the test atmosphere environment, sensor errors, and etc. The calculated LWC from the ice thickness cumulated on the fuselage of the KUH is compared to the measured value by CCP, and the results show the effective indirect method to check the test conditions.

  • Diesel engines have important advantages over its gasoline counterpart including high thermal efficiency, high fuel economy and low emissions of CO, HC and $CO_2$. However, NOx reducing is more difficult on diesel engines because of the high $O_2$ concentration in the exhaust, marking general three way catalytic converter ineffective. Two method available technologies for continuous NOx reduction onboard diesel engines are Urea-SCR and LNT. The implementation of the Urea-SCR systems in design engines have made it possible for 2.5l and over engines to meet the tightened NOx emission standard of Euro-6. In this study, we investigate the characteristics of NOx reduction with respect to engine speed, load, types of catalyst and the $NH_3$/NOx ratio and present the conditions which maximize NOx reduction. Also we provide detailed experimental data on Urea-SCR which can be used for the preparation for standards beyond Euro-6.

  • This research was conducted to improve a hill seeding technology under puddled wet soil condition for direct seeded rice. There were severe constrains in hill sowing method under puddled wet soil such as a bird damages, dryness of seeds sown due to strong sunlight in May and buoyancy of seeds and young seedlings after raining and irrigation particular under strong wind. Thus, we have adopted a sandy type(<2mm) silicate covering method in Bokto drill seeding technology for a hill seeding method as well. The average silicate amount in order to cover seeds sown was of 840kg/ha which was evaluated to a proper volume for those problem solution and farmer's handling during sowing operation. In this experiment there was an additional problem like a precious hill drop of rice seeds, covering of silicate over hill seeded rice and seed broken during roller operation.
