Every baseball game generates various records and on the basis of those records, win/lose prediction about the next game is carried out. Researches on win/lose predictions of professional baseball games have been carried out, but there are not so good results yet. Win/lose prediction is very difficult because the choice of features on win/lose predictions among many records is difficult and because the complexity of a learning model is increased due to overlapping factors among the data used in prediction. In this paper, learning features were chosen by opinions of baseball experts and a heuristic function was formed using the chosen features. We propose a hybrid model by creating a new value which can affect predictions by combining multiple features, and thus reducing a dimension of input value which will be used for backpropagation learning algorithm. As the experimental results show, the complexity of backpropagation was reduced and the accuracy of win/lose predictions on professional baseball games was improved.

The most commonly used location recognition system is the GPS-based approach. However, the GPS is inefficient for an indoor or urban area where high buildings shield the satellite signals. To overcome this problem, this paper propose the indoor positioning method using wavelet and neural network. The basic idea of proposed method is estimated the location using the received signal strength from wireless APs installed in the indoor environment. Because of the received signal strength of wireless radio signal is fluctuated by the environment factors, a feature that is strength of signal noise and error and express the time and frequency domain is need. Therefore, this paper is used the wavelet coefficient as the feature. And the neural network is used for estimate the location. The experiment results indicate 94.6% an location recognition rate.

Today almost all chips have IEEE 1149.1 tap controller inside. Recently the circuit is embedded in the chips for other functional objectives. Hence a CED technique for testing and monitoring the IEEE 1149.1 tap controller had been proposed. This paper studies the optimal CED test technique on the IEEE 1149.1 tap controller. There are duplication, parity prediction, and hybrid techniques. The hybrid technique shows the best result on the area overhead. This means that the hybrid technique is perfectly adequate for the IEEE 1149.1 tap controller to be applied to test with the optimal area overhead and can be used widely in the field. Furthermore, we made more reduction from the previous method resulting in less area overhead.
VoIP (Voice over IP) is a technology to transport video and voice traffic over IP networks such as Internet. Today, the VoIP technology is viewed as the right choice for providing voice, video, and data communication among various terminals over the next generation network. This paper discusses a multipoint VoIP implementation with end-point mixing model which can support multipoint conference without a conference bridge. The multipoint VoIP is implemented with SIP (Session Initiation Protocol), and supports STUN (Simple Traversal of UDP Through NATs) since it works in an asymmetric NAT (Network Address Translator) environment. The characteristics of this paper are as follows. It is possible that all terminals in the hierarchical conference don't receive the duplicated media information because we use the end-point mixing model with the new media processing module. And, the paper solves the problem that the hierarchical conference session should be separated into several sessions when a mixing terminal terminates the hierarchical conference session.
Compressed bitstreams generated by an MPEG-2 video encoder (or digital TV picture transmission are quite sensitive to channel errors. Due to the coding structure of the MPEG-2 video compression algorithm, a single bit error can affect not only the current Picture frame but also succeeding frames. Error concealment algorithms attempt to repair damaged portions of the picture by exploiting spatial and temporal redundancies in the correctly received and reconstructed video frames. In this paper, we analyze the effect of channel errors in MPEG-2 video bitstreams and estimate lost motion vectors by exploiting temporal redundancies in the video frames. Motion vectors can be estimated from the vertically adjacent extended region of lost macroblocks. Finally, we conceal the damaged macroblocks by compensating the displacement with the estimated motion vectors. Simulation results demonstrate that both the weighted sum algorithm and the extension matching algorithm achieve good performance in terms of PSNR values as well as subjective image quality.
IP is not suitable for mobile nodes by network-based routing because mobile nodes are dynamically change their network attachment point. Mobile-IP is an IETF standard providing continuous access to the Internet for mobile nodes, but it has the triangle routing problem. Also it has a performance degradation problem by massive packet loss during layer 3 handoff of mobile nodes. Especially, two IETF multicast support schemes for Mobile-IP do not guarantee the quality of realtime multimedia services because they have several problems such as long routing path, packet duplication(hi-directional tunneling) and massive packet loss(remote subscription). In this paper, we propose a lossless remote subscription scheme that guarantees the quality of realtime multimedia services over Mobile-IP. From the result of simulation, we verified that the proposed scheme in this paper can reduce the delay time of remote subscription by the effect of the low latency handoff scheme that is extended to apply to the multicast group management and it requires only 0.58% buffer spaces of the previously proposed lossless remote subscription scheme.
In wireless sensor networks, the multipath prefers energy efficient routing method due to the characteristic of low-power sensor which uses geographic method to transmit data packet through information of the neighbor nodes. However, when multipath meets the routing fail area called hole area, path overlap problem can occur, resulting in failed maintenance of disjoint multipath. To solve this problem, multipath research studies have been performed to exploit the modeling and detouring method in routing fail area by keeping the disjoint multipath. However, in an energy point of view, additional method like modeling can lead to a lot of energy consumption of sensor node. Moreover, lots of energy consumption of sensor node can shorten the life span of sensor network. In this study, we proposed an energy efficient geographic routing by keeping the disjoint multipath in routing fail area. The proposed scheme exploited the face routing using the geographic recovery method without additional method like modeling.
Nowadays, most widely used transport protocol, TCP is tuned to perform well in traditional networks where packet losses occur mostly because of congestion. TCP performs reliable end-to-end packet transmission under the assumption of low packet error rate. However, networks with wireless links suffer from significant losses due to high error rate and handoffs. TCP responds to all losses by invoking congestion control and avoidance algorithms, resulting in inefficient use of network bandwidth and degraded end-to-end performance in that system. To solve this problem, several methods have been proposed. In this paper, we analyse and compare these methods and propose appropriate model for improving TCP performance in the network with wireless links. This model uses TCP selective acknowledgement (SACK) option between TCP ends, and also uses caching method at the base station. Our simulation results show that using TCP SACK option with base station caching significantly reduces unnecessary duplicate retransmissions and recover packet losses effectively.

Video representation through representative frames (key frames) has been addressed frequently as an efficient way of preserving the whole temporal information of sequence with a considerably smaller amount of data. Such compact video representation is suitable for the purpose of video browsing in limited storage or transmission bandwidth environments. In a case like this, the controllability of the total key frame number (i.e. key frame rate) depending on the storage or bandwidth capacity is an important requirement of a key frame selection method. In this paper, we present a sequential key frame selection method when the number of key frames is given as a constraint. It first selects the desired number of initial key frames and determines non-overlapping initial time intervals that are represented by each key frame. Then, it adjusts the positions of key frames and time intervals by iteration, which minimizes the distortion. Experimental result demonstrates the improved performance of our algorithm over the existing approaches.
A new modified lossless intra-coding method based on a cross residual transform is applied to HEVC(High Efficiency Video Coding). The HEVC standard including a multi-directional spatial prediction method to reduce spatial redundancy encodes the pixels in a PU (Prediction Unit) by using neighboring pixels. In the new modified lossless intra-coding method, the spatial prediction is performed by pixel-based DPCM but is implemented by block-based manner by using cross residual transform on the HEVC standard. The experimental results show that the new lossless intra-coding method reduces the bit rate of approximately 8.4% in comparison with the lossless-intra coding method in the HEVC standard and the proposed method results in slightly better compression ratio than the JPEG2000 lossless coding.
