  • This study analyzed how the accuracy of co-registration varies depending on the convergence angles between two KOMPSAT-3·3A images. Most very-high-resolution satellite images provide initial coordinate information through metadata. Since the search area for performing image co-registration can be reduced by using the initial coordinate information, in this study, the mutual information method showing high matching reliability in the small search area is used. Initial coarse co-registration was performed by using multi-spectral images with relatively low resolution, and precise fine co-registration was conducted centering on the region of interest of the panchromatic image for more accurate co-registration performance. The experiment was conducted by 120 combination of 16 KOMPSAT-3·3A 1G images taken in Daejeon area. Experimental results show that a correlation coefficient between the convergence angles and fine co-registration errors was 0.59. In particular, we have shown the larger the convergence angle, the lower the accuracy of co-registration performance.

  • The study investigated the quality characteristics of white castella prepared with 0, 10, 20, and 30% burdock (Arctium lappa L.) powder. The specific gravity and weight of castella increased with higher burdock powder content. Height and baking loss rate of castella were not significantly different among the samples. The pH of castella decreased with increasing burdock powder content, whereas $^{\circ}Brix$ of castella increased. Hunter L and b values of crust increased, whereas a values decreased with addition of burdock powder. Hunter L values of crumb decreased, whereas a and b values of crumb increased. The hardness of castella increased upon addition of burdock powder, whereas fracturability, springiness, cohesiveness, gumminess, and resilience decreased. DPPH radical scavenging activity and total polyphenol contents increased significantly upon addition of burdock powder (P<0.05). In the sensory evaluation, crust color, crumb color, and flavor were highest in the control group. Moistness had the highest scores in castella containing 20 and 30% burdock powder. Chewiness and overall acceptability were higher in castella added with 10% burdock powder than in the control and other samples, but there were no significant differences among the samples.

  • This study evaluated the effects of low-dose X-ray irradiation treatment on quality characteristics and sensory evaluation of imported navel oranges during storage at $3^{\circ}C$ for 45 days. The samples were irradiated at doses of 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8, and 1.0 kGy, and changes in their color value, hardness, Brix/acid ratio, total sugar content, reducing sugar content, vitamin C contents, and sensory evaluation were investigated. There was no significant increase or decrease in Brix/acid ratio, total sugar content, reducing sugar content, or vitamin C content between the non-irradiated and irradiated samples. Color value of orange peels decreased with increasing levels of irradiation treatment. Color b value of orange pulp increased with an increase in irradiation dose. Difference in hardness between the non-irradiated and irradiated samples decreased at the end of storage. For the sensory evaluation after 30 days, sweetness and overall acceptability of irradiated samples at more than 0.6 kGy were low. These results suggest that X-ray irradiation under 0.6 kGy does not affect quality characteristics and sensory evaluation.

  • This study was conducted to measure the major agronomic characteristics of 85 local varieties of perilla at Chungbuk Agricultural Research and Extension Services in 2001. Perilla accessions examined were classified into three maturity groups, i.e, early, medium, and late maturity group of 19 (23%),57 (67%), and 9 (10%) accessions, respectively. The early and late maturity groups mainly consisted of collections from middle-northern area and southern area, respectively, while the medium group consisted of accessions from all over the country. Average 1,000-seed weight (TSW) was 2.7 g. TSW of the collection from Hamyang was the greatest a 3.9 g, while the TSW of Pyungchang collection was the smallest as 1.7 g, and most of collections produced medium and small seeds. Perilla accessions with greate 1,000-seed weight seemed to be belonged to the late maturity group. Seed coat colors of perilla accessions were dark brown (30%), brown (55%) and gray brown (6%), respectively, Among seed coat colors, brown color consisted of 91%. Stem height, the number of nodes, branches, flower clusters, and capsules per flower cluster, and the length of flower cluster were positively correlated occ, while these characteristics were negatively correlated with the number of capsules per flower cluster and 1,000-seed weight. These results allowed us to select 5 perilla collections, containing 1 collection with gray white seed color, and 4 collections over 2.5g 1000 seed weight, as parental lines in the breeding program.

  • In order to prepare liqueur of Citrus platymamma, 500 g dried peel was soaked in 10 l (5%, w/v) of $30{\sim}95%$ ethanol concentration for 70 days. Changes in pH was $5.19{\sim}4.80$ with 30% ethanol concentration, and the pH was decreased as ethanol concentration decreases for 10 days after soaking. Color a-value was decreased and color b-value was increased according to higher ethanol concentration. Extract was $2.00{\sim}2.19%$ (w/v) with $30{\sim}70%$ ethanol concentration. Acid content was $0.18{\sim}0.21%$ (v/v) with $30{\sim}70%$ ethanol concentration, while $0.13{\sim}0.15%$ (v/v) with 95% ethanol concentration. The contents of fructose and glucose was increased with lower ethanol concentration, and sucrose content was decreased with longer soaking time. Main flavonoids were narirutin, hesperidin, nobiletin, 3,5,6,7,8,3'4'-methoxylated flavone, and tangeretin. Most flavonoids were extracted more than 80% of ethanol for $3{\sim}5$ days soaking. Total polyphenol was $628.8{\sim}711.2$ ${\mu}g/ml$ with $30{\sim}70%$ ethanol concentration for 20 days soaking. Therefore, to prepare Citrus platymamma peel liqueur, it is necessary to soak the material in $50{\sim}70%$ ethanol concentration for 20 days.

  • This study is about the method to control the quality of material used to repair leakage and crack of concrete structure and suggests the "Temperature Stability Test Method" as a follow-up study. In the result of performance evaluation for 45 samples of 15 types in 5 series, the temperature stability test showed different material changes including rolling down, volume change, and color change as they are frozen and melt repeatedly in the somewhat extreme conditions at low($-20^{\circ}C$) and high($60^{\circ}C$) temperatures, where 13 samples (approx. 29%) and 32 samples (approx. 71%) showed leakage, respectively, in the permeability test to evaluate leakage. This result shows the enough importance of setting the quality control criteria of leakage repair material currently used to maintain concrete structures considering the temperature conditions, and proves the applicability of the Temperature Stability Test Method as a standard test method to ensure long-term durability of concrete structure.

  • Fish patty is a product spotlighted recently in the application area of functional food because its main ingredients are soybean and fish with various functions which make it highly digestible, tasty, rich with protein and calcium, and with low fat. Thus, in order to optimize fish patties, this study analyzed their water content, colors, texture and sensory characteristics according to the addition of soybean powder. As a result, water content and lightness decreased with the increase of the addition of soybean powder while hardness, elasticity, chewiness, and gumminess increased with the increase of the addition of soybean powder. Among sensory characteristics, taste, chewiness and texture were highest in S2, and in general evaluation, S2 received the highest score. Thus, S2 was found the most appropriate addition of soybean powder in making fish patties. Based on the results of this study, if fish patties to which soybean powder is added can be used in hamburgers and other food products for the diversity, functionality, and high quality of processed food products using soybean and fish, people's appreciation of hamburgers will be changed, and this will bring a new turning point to the consumption of hamburgers. Furthermore, it is believed that the development of healthy patty-type soybean powder products may resolve worries about fast food and quality-related and health-related problems in hamburger patties.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop value-added functional gruel by adding fresh burdock & burdock powder. For burdock, we put fresh burdock(1.0, 2.0, 3.0, 4.0%) and burdock powder(0.3, 0.6, 0.9, 1.2%) into burdock gruel and get results from mechanical tests and sensory tests. Moisture content of fresh burdock gruel increased with more addition of fresh burdock, while burdock powder gruel had less moisture content as the addition of burdock powder increased. Lightness and pH decreased in both groups as more amount of burdock was added. From the result of an attribute difference test, 4% fresh burdock gruel showed the strongest burdock flavor and astringent taste. Among the burdock powder groups, the gruel added with 1.2% burdock powder scored the highest point in color intensity, graininess, savory taste, astringent taste, thickness and aftertaste. For overall acceptability, the gruel added with 3% fresh burdock scored the highest point and the gruel added with 0.6% burdock powder was the highest among the burdock powder groups. Based on the results of this study, the gruel added with 0.6% burdock powder and the gruel added with 3% fresh burdock were the optimum for their good characteristics and overall acceptability when produced.
