  • The aim of this study is evaluate the effect of a cognitive occupational therapy program on cognitive function, depression and hands function for patients with dementia living in a local community. A cognitive rehabilitation program of 10 weeks focusing on the occupational therapy is conducted from September to December 2012 on 21 patents (experimental group: 12, control group: 9) with dementia who are admitted to nursing homes in a metropolitan region. In the experimental group, the cognitive function, depression level, hand strength, and hand coordination ability is significantly improved after the application of the cognitive program (p<.05). In conclusion, the cognitive occupational therapy program may be a useful intervention for dementia. Because the therapeutic goal for dementia treatment is mainly concentrated on the amelioration of dementia symptoms, thus it is necessary to develop a various cognition training program that can be maintained the patient's residual functional capacity and returned to the social community through the early detection and the early intervention.

  • The purpose of this study is to review person-centered care models and the scientific evidence for the impact of person-centered care in U.S. nursing homes, and to analyze the applicability of person-centered care for Korean long-term care system. The most commonly recognized person-centered care models were Eden Alternative, Green House, and Wellspring model. The core components of the three models were autonomy, close relationships, homelike environment, and staff empowerment. Thirty eight empirical studies including 10 model testing studies and 28 studies to examine the impact of person-centered care interventions indicated generally positive outcomes in terms of residents, family, and staff/organization level. The authors analyzed the current situation in the Korean long-term care system with respect to the specific core constructs of person-centered care, and proposed applicable models and practical suggestions in consideration of Korean context. Lastly, future considerations regarding policy and research were discussed.

Methods : In this single-subject ABA design study with follow-up evaluation, one severely disabled person diagnosed with stroke who lived in the community was recruited. The procedure consisted of a total of 25 sessions for 17 weeks. Intervention was according to occupation-based community rehabilitation, and the researcher visited the subject's home. Individualized intervention was applied according to the OTIPM. Within the framework of the AMPS, it was confirmed that the quality of occupational performance was improved in all the subjects, and the degree of satisfaction also improved. Conclusion : This study showed that occupation-based rehabilitation can improve the occupational performance skills of stroke home disabled people positively affect the quality of occupational performance in daily life. Therefore, I think it is meaningful that useful for them.

  • Today. the mental health has a great deal of impact on individuals and the society surrounding. Therefore. this research is to propose a way of bibliotherapical intercession by stages and patterns as to examine the recovery process of students with negative emotion by using the grounded theoretical method. This research collected materials through focus-interview, participant observation and book reports of 4 experiments involving female college students aged from 21 to 23, all having emotional and psychological difficulties. The recovery process of female students with negative emotion involved causal factors such as "recognition of hidden wound" "Sense of inferiority", and "difficulty in forming relationships", as well as contextual factors like "sympathetic attitude". which altogether brought about the core phenomenon. "pursuit for healthy ego". This core phenomenon induced to recovering the bright and positive attitude through using the strategies of 'self insight' and application of 'management plan', influence by such incoherent conditions as 'intimate surroundings' and $\setminus$ 'support system patterns'. And as time passed. the recovery process appeared tin four stages: 'issues recognition'. 'emotional responses', 'issue solution' and 'self application'.

  • Objective : The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of telerehabilitation on executive function, activities of daily living, instrumental activities of daily living, and occupational performance in stroke patients. Methods : The participants of this study were 30 outpatients with stroke residing in community. Both groups underwent the intervention 3 times a week for a total of 18 sessions. For the experimental group telerehabilitation was administered at home to only fifteen participants in the experimental group schedule, and it was supervised by the caregiver. Fifteen people in the control group underwent only the traditional occupational therapy. Executive function and instrumental activities of daily living were evaluated using the Korean version of the Executive Function Performance Test (EFPT-K). The basic daily activities of living were assessed using the Modified Barthel Index (MBI). The Canadian Occupational Performance Measure (COPM) was used to evaluate the client-centered occupational performance. Results : After the intervention, the experimental and control groups showed improvements in executive function, instrumental activities of daily living and occupational performance. Occupational performance improved more significantly in the experimental group than in the control group. Conclusion : Telerehabilitation and occupational therapy positively affect executive function, instrumental activities of daily living and occupational performance of patients with stroke. We suggest that telerehabilitation combined with occupational therapy is more effective in improving the occupational performance of stroke patients.

  • The objective of this study is to identify the community living experiences of married immigrant women in rural areas. For this purpose, we conducted qualitative research by sampling 14 married immigrant women who had lived in Korea for over three years by having in depth interviews with them. This study employed the grounded theory method suggested by Strauss and Corbin(1998). When raw data from in depth interviews with the participants were processed by open coding through the continuous comparison method with theoretical sensitivity, a total of 13 categories, 27 sub.categories, and 71 concepts were extracted. In case of axial coding, according to the results of analyzing through the paradigm procedure, the causal conditions for the community living experiences of married immigrant women in rural areas were 'Uncertain start' and 'Confront practical problems,' and the central phenomenon was 'Search for existence to participate in community activities.' Contextual conditions affecting the phenomenon was 'Regret international marriage,' 'Experience conflicts,' and 'Look with negative prejudices,' 'Overcome the actual' and action/interaction strategies were 'Look for a breakthrough of life' and 'Manage to acceptance.' Intervening conditions for promoting or suppressing the action/interaction strategies for the central phenomenon were 'Social support system' and 'local limitations,' and as a result, the community living experiences of married immigrant women in rural areas appeared to 'Prepare the future,' 'Hope continuous social activities,' and 'Expect public support systems.'

  • This research aims at developing human resources who will serve as flexible mediators in the future national or cultural conflict situations. The primary learning contents approach the class by selecting the upcycling design activities, in which the students recognize the problem of waste that is for all and study representative characteristics and backgrounds of each culture. The classes were held centering around the student members of GunpoYMCA, and the culturally characteristic materials were made through upcycling design. The activities included making giraffes in Africa with plastic bottles, Mongolian tents with wooden posts, snow globes with sauce pots, patchworks and rugs with shirts and textiles, and garlands with banners, which helped students learn the new term upcycling as well as get interested in the environmental problems. Also, they could understand other cultures by creating materials that represent each culture and studying their origins and historical backgrounds. In conclusion, this research offers value by developing abilities to cope with not only conflicts between cultures but confrontations between nations in the larger scope.

  • Prior to the development of guidelines for occupational therapy for spinal cord injury, this study explored the actual condition of occupational therapy applied to patients with spinal cord injury and the range of guidelines required by the clinic, thereby raising the necessity and establishing an evidence-based rehabilitation intervention service system. It is thought that it will be used for research in the same field. As a survey method, a total of 15 days of surveys were conducted from October 3 to 17, 2019, among 112 occupational therapists, focusing on the organizations currently employed by occupational therapists. As a result, there are 106 physical activity training (94.6%), daily life movement training (85.7%), education-counseling-information 44 (39.3%), and guardian education 39 (34.8). %).
