The dorsal lingual papillae of Sorex caecutiens were studied morphologically using scanning electron microscopy. Three types of lingual papillae were found: filiform papillae, fungiform papillae and circumvallate papillae. Filiform papillae were observed in most part of the tongue except on the lateral surface. There were basically three types of filiform papillae distinguished mainly by their morphological shape and structure. Numerous fungiform papillae were spread throughout the whole tongue, especially concentrated in lateral sides. The size varied according to the position of fungiform papillae, becoming larger as it reached to the rear. Strict pair-wise distribution was not observable, but fungiform papillae were mostly located in orderly manner. There were two large circumvallate papillae at the posterior region of the tongue. There were two thick pads around the center part where several bodies were gathered together. Overall research provided similar results with other close species such as common shrew (S. araneus). The circumvallate papillae of S. caecutiens were different from other Sorex species. They were circular, as in bats and other Sorex species, and had two distinguishable pads while others had only one.
Volcanic rocks related to the Guamsan cadera, which find in the southeastern Cheongsong, are divided into Volcanic breccia, Guamsan Tuff and Post-collapse intrusions. We determined their eruption, intrusion and caldera-forming timings based on SHRIMP U-Pb zircon dating. The dating results yield earlier eruption age of $63.77{\pm}0.94Ma$ from the lower ash-flow tuff and an later eruption age of $60.1{\pm}1.8Ma$ from the upper ash-flow tuff of the Guamsam Tuff, and intrusion age of $60.65{\pm}0.95Ma$ from the rhyolite ring dyke of the Post-collapse intrusions. The age data suggest that the Guamsan caldera is formed in 60.65~60.1 Ma between eruption of the upper ash-flow tuff and intrusion of the rhyolite ring dyke. The Guamsan cadera exhibits the volcanic processes of a perfect igneous cycle passing from ash-flow eruptions through caldera collapse to ring intrusions during 63.77~60.1 Ma.
To investigate turbine flow fields under realistic conditions, a rotating turbine test facility has been developed at the Inha University Propulsion Laboratory. The experimental facility consists of an air inlet, settling chamber, single turbine stage test section, and diffuser. This turbine has a design flow coefficient of 0.55 and work coefficient of 1.88. The turbine test rig has four features. First, a large scale test section improves space resolution. Second, low speed rpm enhances safety and reduces required power, Third, DC motor/generator is able to regenerate blower power. Fourth, various types of experiment can be carried out.
Nine cauldrons have been recognized in the PVD (Pusan- Taegu Volcano-tectonic Depression) zone covering an area of nearly 7,000 $km^{2}$. They form characteristic landscape features with various mountains in the southeastern Kyongsang basin. Economically important ore deposits are also developed either in the ring fracture zone or the central pluton within the resurgent cauldrons or in the marginal area of the PVD, suggesting that these cauldrons played a major role in the distribution of ore deposits in the southeastern Kyongsang basin. Furthermore, the cauldron subsidences were more frequent with the more felsic volcano-plutonic complex, possibly indicating that the amounts of water and volatile components also acted as a controlling factor to cause the caldera subsidence and to concentrate the ore-forming elements in economic concentrations. The review of the relationship and variations of ore mineralization and cauldron subsidence is rather sketchy, but it provides a skeleton to carry out more detailed and quantitative studies related to temporal and spatial relationships between each cauldron subsidence accompanying its own ore mineralization. In the southeastern Kyongsang basin, additional calderas and associated ore deposits undoubtedly can be discovered through future detailed studies. The concept that cauldron subsidence are an important control for the formation of ore deposits will appear to be vindicated.
$^{32}$ P was supplied to the roots of stem-ringed 1-year-old apple trees and 2-year-old citrus trees on which bark segments were isolated above and below the ring. $^{32}$ P was translocated to shoots and leaves although considerable translocation occurred especially in wood and bark tissues. The accumulation of $^{32}$ P in isolated bark segments indicated that the occurrence of these materials in this tissue was via radial translocation from xylem tissue, and that the main upward translocation pathway of $^{32}$ P supplied to roots is through the xylem.
The investigation of the fuel cladding temperature behavior and heat transfer mechanism during the reflooding phase of a LOCA plays an important role in performance evaluation of ECCS and safety analysis of water reactors. Reflooding experiments were performed with horizontal and vertical flow channels to investigate the effect of coolant flow channel orientation on rewetting process. Emphasis was mainly placed on the CANDU reactor which has horizontal pressure tubes in core, and the results were compared with those of vertical channel. Also to investigate the rewetting process visually, the experiments by using a rod in annulus and a quartz tube heated outside were performed. It can be concluded that the rewetting velocity in horizontal flow channel is clearly affected by flow stratification, however, the average rewetting velocity is similar to those in vertical flow channel for same conditions.

Vas deferens is a long tube and could be divided into four regions as its morphological characters: a short and slender proximal region, a convoluted region, a straight and more thick distal region, and an ejaculatory duct, It is connected with the posterior outer horns of the testis and runs to the gonopores opened on the coxa of the fifth walking legs, The proximal region consists almost entirely of simple cuboidal epithelial cells, $12\~28{\mu}$m in height, surrounded by a thin basal membrane. A small aggregation of high cuboidal epithelium is obsened from one side of the proximal region. The convoluted and distal region is composed of two kinds of epithelial cells; high cuboidal epithelial cells, $40\~120{\mu}m$ in height located in dorsal portion and simple cuboidal epithelial cells of $12\~28{\mu}$m in height located in ventral and lateral portion. The ejaculatory duct is surrounded with two kinds of muscle layers, inner longitudinal and outer circular muscle fibers, The lumen is lined with high and simple cuboidal epithelium in almost equal proportions. The proximal region contains mature sperm and basophilic substances. The eosinophilic substances appeared newly going toward the convoluted region and are laid along simple cuboidal epithelial cell layer. Tube-like content (spermatophore) of the vas deferens is ejaculated from a pair of genital pores at mating. Two masses of the content fuse together side by side and are usually deposited on the female thorax between the second and fourth or fifth pereiopods, The spermatophore formed measures $2.7\~4.0$ mm in length and $1.5\~2.7$ mm in width.
Analysis of random amplified polymorphic DNAs(RAPDs) and internal morphological features were performed using three species of medicinal plants in the genus of Angelica(A. gigas Nakai, A. sinensis(Oliv.) Diels., A. acutiloba Kitagawa) to distinguish between these three species. Fifty decarmer oligonucleotide primers were screened for the RAPDs of the herbal plant species. Five primers generated distinct RAPD markers specific to the species of Angelica, In analysis of the degree of similarity, A. sinensis(Oliv.) Diels is more closely related to A. acutiloba Kitagawa than to A. gigas Nakai. Furthermore, we proved the usefulness of RAPD analysis for the discrimination of the species using dry roots and commercial plant materials. In internal morphology of three species, A. sinensis(Oliv.) Diels seemed to be more specialized in systemic than A. acutiloba Kitagawa and A. gigas Nakai
The migut epitheluim of the last instar larva in the mosquito larvae, Anopheles sinensis was observed with electron microscopes. The midgut epitheluim of the mosquito larva is composed of a single-layered columnar absorptive cells, regenerative cells and secretory granular cells. The free surface of the columnar absorptive cells has a regular array of microvilli 'brush border', while cell membranes close to the basal lamina are extrmely infolded and a lot of mitochondria are concentrated in those processes. The columnar absorptive cells also contain cell organelles expected to be found in absorptive cell. Midgut regenerative cells which are positioned basally in the epithelium form the groups, which are called 'nidi', composed of 1 or $2{\sim}3$ cells, they show darker appearance than the columnar absoptive cells. The secretory granular cells contain numerous electron dense granules, $200{\sim}400$ nm in diameter. The cone shaped secretory granular cells are located in the basal portion of the midgut epitheluim. The epithelium is surrounded by the subepithelial space and muscle bundles. The subepithelial space, which is filled with fibrous connective tissue, is innervated by many axon cells and tracheoles.
Vinyl addition copolymerizations of norbornene (NB) and 5-vinyl-2-norbomene (VNB) were carried out using a cationic η$^3$-allyl palladium catalyst in the various mole ratio of comonomers. The copolymers could be obtained in good yield (65∼85%) with high weight-average molecular weights (M$_{w}$ > 760,000). Depending on increasing VNB contents, the molecular weight and yield of the copolymers decreased. FT-IR analysis confirmed that actual contents of VNB in polymer were proportional to the feeding content of VNB. From $^1$H-NMR spectroscopy, we found that both exo and endo VNB isomer were copolymerized with NB. Thermal stabilities of NB-VNB copolymers were independent on the VNB content and their initial decomposition temperatures were about 300 C. The NB-VNB copolymers were followed by epoxidation by using m-CPBA and hydroxylation by 9-BBN, respectively, and these post-polymers were characterized by FT-IR spectroscopy and $^1$H-NMR analysis..
