A Study on the Fatigue Analysis by the Boarding Period on Training Ship (실습선 승선기간에 의한 승선 집단별 피로도 분석에 관한 연구)

  • Crew fatigue has been recognized as a major cause of maritime accidents. Systematic study on crew fatigue has a direct impact on the human factor, but the various measures being taken to prevent human error account for most of the causes of marine accidents situation are still insufficient. In this study, 128 people who have a variety of career and job types boarded the T/S Hanbada were analyzed the changes of fatigue during the 87-days a Maritime Silk Road Sailing Expedition. Crew fatigue was measured by period of time onboard classified as mental, physiological and physical changes through survey responses and individual interviews of nurses. Also, it was identified the fatigue factor through quantitative statistical analysis. As a result of repeated measures analysis of variance for the changes of fatigue in position and gender criteria in accordance with boarded period, the position-specific analysis was that Professor Rating group has appeared to feel more mental and physical fatigue than the student population. Also, the results of fatigability about the sex-specific analysis have been found that women feel more physical fatigue than men.

Glasses-free Interactive 3D Display: The Effects of Viewing Distance, Orientation and Manual Interaction on Visual Fatigue (무안경식 Interactive 3D Display: 시청거리, 시청방위, 협응동작이 시각피로에 미치는 영향)

  • In this study, we investigated visual fatigue in i3D system and basic factors that contribute to visual fatigue in the system. i3D is a type of glasses-free display which supports elementary manual interaction of users with the display. In Experiment 1, we performed open-ended survey of visual fatigue and collected responses from observers which then were used as survey questions for visual fatigue. The questions were validated by factor analysis from which we derived fatigue measurement scale. In Experiment 2, we measured visual fatigue in various conditions using survey questions obtained from Experiment 1. Using manual interaction (present/absent), viewing distance(1/2/4m), and viewing orientation($0/28/56^{\circ}$) as three factors in within-subject design, we measured visual fatigue in each condition. The results indicated that visual fatigue deceases with farther viewing distance, but viewing orientation and manual interaction does not influence visual fatigue. Although fatigue unexpectedly decreased in an extreme viewing condition (e.g., distance 1m, orientation $56^{\circ}$), the results were obtained because of technical limitation of glasses-free 3D display. General discussion provides discussion on limits of the current study and suggestions for future research.

  • The panels are used as a composite part of the completed deck. They replace the main bottom transverse deck reinforcement and also serve as a form surface for the cast-in-place concrete upper layer that contains the top of deck reinforcement. However, in order to apply the precast panels to bridges properly, it is necessary to fully understand the structural characteristics of joint in precast panels. Particularly, since the bridge deck is under repeated loads such as traffic loads, fatigue behavior and characteristics of joint should be investigated. In this paper, fatigue tests of composite deck with shear ties and loop joints were conducted. The fatigue tests were conducted with an application of repeated loading and wheel loading. Test results were analyzed to examine the current design code for fatigue of reinforcement bar and serviceability under repeated loading.

However, resent accident data and research point to fatigue as a cause of and/or contributor to human error precisely because of its impact on performance. The goal of this study is to analyze and examine of the fatigue factors related to human error. In this study, we carried out the questionnaire sw-vey which concerned with the fatigue factors.

  • This study aimed to examine whether there was difference on visual fatigue between active seniors and young people, and to provide a guideline for appropriate computer use time for seniors. Blinking rate, maximal blinking interval, temperature of the ocular surface, visual fatigue questionnare were evaluated. The blinking rate, ocular surface temperature, visual fatigue showed significant change before and after the tasks. There was no difference between the two groups and thus, about 30-minute computer work appeared to be appropriate for seniors.

  • IMO에서는 피로(Fatigue)를 정신력, 체력, 신속성, 반응시간, 기능의 조화, 의사결정, 마음의 안정 등을 포함한 모든 육체적, 정신적 또는 감정적인 소모의 결과로 인하여 인간의 육체적 또는 정신적 능력이 저하되는 것 즉, 인간의 효율성의 감소라고 정의하고 있다. 선박승무원의 피로는 선박안전운항과 해양환경보호를 위한 업무수행능력(Performance)에 영향을 미칠 뿐만 아니라 승선중인 선박승무원의 건강(Health)과도 밀접한 관계가 있으며 또한 많은 영향을 미치게 된다. 본 연구에서는 선박승무원의 피로에 영향을 미치는 다양한 요인과 그로 인한 효과들을 살펴보고 피로와 선박승무원의 건강과의 관련성 및 그 영향 등에 대하여 고찰을 하고자 한다.

  • 현재 우리나라는 보유 또는 지배선박이 약 1,000척, 3천만G/T로 노르웨이에 이어 세계 6위의 해운강국으로 성장하였다. 그리고 수많은 사관과 부원들이 다양한 선박에 승선하고 있으며 해운산업이 성장할수록 더 많은 선원들이 선박에 근무할 것으로 예상된다. 그러나 IMO와 ILO 등에서는 선원들의 선박근무환경 및 휴식 등에 관해서 최소한만을 규정하고 있고, 이로 인하여 선원들이 높은 노동 강도에 시달리게 되고 피로와 스트레스가 누적되어 해양사고의 한 원인이 되고 있는 실정이다. 이 연구에서는 각 선박의 고유 특성과 운항환경 등으로 고려한 선박의 근무강도를 평가할 수 있는 요소와 지수를 개발하기 위하여 선박에 장기간 승선한 경험이 있는 응답자로 하여금 각 평가요소에 대하여 주관적으로 인지하는 선박의 근무강도를 평가하도록 하였다. 이 평가요소와 지수를 기반으로 선원들을 각 선원의 특성과 여건에 맞는 선박에 배정함으로서 선원들의 피로와 스트레스를 경감시켜 해양사고의 예방에 기여할 수 있을 것으로 예상된다.

Fatigue Reliability Evaluation of an In-service Steel Bridge Using Field Measurement Data (현장계측데이터를 활용한 공용 중 강교량의 피로 신뢰도평가)

  • Strain gauges and the bridge weigh-in-motion (BWIM) method are the representative field measurement methods used for fatigue evaluationsof a steel bridge-in-service. For a fatigue reliability evaluation to assess fatigue damage accumulation, the effective stress range and the number of stress cycles applied as the fatigue details can be estimated based on the AASHTO Manual for Bridge Evaluations with the field measurement data of the target bridge. However, the procedure for estimating the effective stress range and the stress cycles from field measurement data has not been explicitly presented. Furthermore, studies that quantitatively compare differences in fatigue evaluation results according to the field measurement data type or processing method used are still insufficient. Here, a fatigue reliability evaluation is conducted using strain and BWIM data that are measured simultaneously. A frame model and a shell-solid model were generated to examine the effect of the accuracy of the structural analysis model when using BWIM data. Also, two methods of handling BWIM data when estimating the effective stress range and average daily cycles are defined. As a result, differences in evaluation results according to the type of field measurement data used, the accuracy of the structural analysis model, and the data handling method could be quantitatively confirmed.
