The physical properties of mercaptoundecanoic-acid layer formed on gold surfaces, which may affect the distribution of either gold particles adsorbed to the zirconium dioxide surface or vice versa, were investigated. To conduct this investigation, the surface forces were measured between the surfaces with respect to the salt concentration and pH value using atomic force microscope (AFM). The forces were quantitatively converted by the Derjaguin-Landau-Verwey-Overbeek (DLVO) theory to the surface potential and charge density of surfaces. The converted-value dependence on the salt concentration and pH was described with the law of mass action, and the dependence was consistent with the theoretical prediction. It was found that the mercaptoundecanoic-acid layer had higher values for the surface charge densities and potentials than the $ZrO_2$ surfaces, which may be attributed to the ionized-functional-groups of the mercaptoundecanoic-acid layer.
It is investigated that that the physical properties of Glutathione layer formed on gold surfaces may make an effect on the distribution of either gold particle adsorbed to the $TiO_2$ surface or vice versa with the adjustment of the electrostatic interactions. For the investigation, the atomic force microscope (AFM) was used to measure the surface forces between the surfaces as a function of the salt concentration and pH value. With the Derjaguin-Landau-Verwey-Overbeek (DLVO) theory, the forces were quantitatively analyzed to acquire the surface potential and charge density of the surfaces for each salt concentration and each pH value. The surface potential and charge density dependence on the salt concentration was described with the law of mass action, and the pH dependence was explained with the ionizable groups on the surface. The salt concentration dependence of the surface properties, found from the measurement at pH 8 and 11, was consistent with the prediction from the law. It was found that the Glutathione layer had higher values for the surface charge densities and potentials than the titanium dioxide surfaces at pH 8 and 11, which may be attributed to the ionized-functional-groups of the Glutathione layer.
The electrostatic interactions were investigated between the zirconia and the 11-Mercaptoundecylphosphoric-acid layer formed on gold surfaces for their complex structures. For the investigation, the atomic force microscope was used to measure the surface forces between the surfaces as a function of the salt concentration and pH value. The forces were analyzed with the Derjaguin-Landau-Verwey-Overbeek theory to estimate the potential and charge density of the surfaces for each condition. The concentration dependence of the surface properties, found from the measurement at pH 4 and 8, was consistent with the prediction from the law of mass action. The pH dependence was explained with the ionizable groups on the surface. It was found that the 11-Mercaptoundecylphosphoric-acid layer had higher values for the surface charge densities and potentials than the zirconia surfaces at pH 4 and 8, which may be attributed to the ionized-functional-groups of the layer.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the cognitive demands level of the description about 'changes of state' and 'kinetic theory' on the 'science 1' textbooks by the 2007 revised curriculum. The three types of curriculum analysis taxonomy have been used to analyze the cognitive demands level of those contents on the 6 kinds of 'science 1' textbooks. The most higher level of cognitive demands about the concepts have been discussed here due to the focus of the concepts. The first, the cognitive demand level about 'three states of substances' depending on the motion of their particles in 6 textbooks is a early formal operational stage because of using by the application of kinetic theory. The second, the cognitive demand level about 'diffusion' and 'evaporation' is a early formal operational stage, because the particles move around faster so they can change their position. The third, the cognitive level of the pressure and volume in a gas is a early formal operational stage because of explaining only phenomena in simple correspondence with formal model of kinetic theory. And simple functional relationships beyond linear on the graph of the volume and pressure of gas, the volume and temperature of gas is also a early formal operational stage. The fourth, the cognitive level of the energy of heat by a change of the state is also a early formal operational stage because kinetic theory picture accepted as providing explanation by the change of the state. And functional relationships beyond linear on the graph of the explanation of boiling point of water in water is also a early formal operational stage.
Observed rate constants (k$_{obs.}$) for Hg$^{2+}$-catalysed aquation of cis-[Co(en)$_2$(OH$_2$)Cl]$^{2+}$, [Co(NH$_3$)$_5$Cl]$^{2+}$, cis-[Co(NH$_3$)$_4$(OH$_2$)Cl]$^{2+}$, and [Co(NH$_2$CH$_3$)$_5$Cl]$^{2+}$ were measured at various concentrations of Hg$^{2+}$. The k$_{obs.}$ was increased with increasing the concentrations of Hg$^{2+}$. The k$_{obs.}$ were related to mechanistically derived rate constants by the relationship; Rate = k$_2$K[complex][Hg$^{2+}$]. Various mixed aqueous-organic solvent have been successfully employed for Hg$^{2+}$-catalysed aquation of octahedral myetal complexes. From the slope of the plot of log k againt Y (solvent ionizing power), the mechanism on the aquation of Co(Ⅲ) complexes by Hg$^{2+}$ has been suggested to be I$_d$-mechanism. The change in a rate on aquation of each Co(Ⅲ) complex was related to the ligand field parameters (${\Delta}$), for Co(Ⅲ) complexes.

The amount of Cr(Ⅲ) and Cr(Ⅵ) in a chromium plating solution could be determined simultaneously within five minutes using UV/VIS spectrophotometer coupled with a flow-through analysis(FTA) setup. The λmax's at 580 nm and 440 nm which correspond to Cr(Ⅲ) and Cr(Ⅵ), respectively, well obey the Beer-Lambert law in the range over 0.05 g/L for Cr(Ⅲ) and 0.005 g/L for Cr(Ⅵ). when the pH of the sample is less than 4.0, the absorption extinction coefficients of those peaks are not much dependent on the proton concentration. The amount of Cr(Ⅲ) and Cr(Ⅵ), and the total chromium in post treatment chromium plating solution, which normally has few g/L of Cr concentration, could be easily measured using UV/VIS spectrophotometry after the sample had been diluted with sulfuric acid of pH=1.0 in the flow-through analysis setup; this method is far more convenient and faster than the common redox titration (which requires at least 40 min/sample) method, while the accuracy of the method is highly comparable to conventional titrimetric method. Since the implementation of an PTA-UV/VIS setup in any plating industry is cost effective and easy to operate, the analytic method described in this paper may be applied directly for in situ analysis of plating solutions.

Base hydrolysis of 7-hydroxy-2H-chromen-2-one (HC) and 7-hydroxy-2H-chromen-2-one-4-acetic acid (HCA) in aqueous-methanol and aqueous-acetone mixtures were studied kinetically at temperature range from 283 to 313 K. The activation parameters of the reactions were evaluated and discussed. Moreover, the change in the activation energy barrier of the investigated compounds from water to water-methanol and water-acetone mixtures was estimated from the kinetic data. It is observed that the change in activation barriers is more or less the same for the hydrolysis of HC and HCA. Base hydrolysis of HC and HCA follows a rate law with $k_{obs}=k_2[OH^-]$. The decrease in the rate constants of HC and HCA as the proportion of methanol or acetone increases is due to the destabilization of $OH^-$ ion. The high negative values of entropy of activation support the proposal mechanism, i.e. the investigated reaction takes place via the formation of an intermediate complex. Moreover, these values refer to the rigidity and stability of the intermediate complex. Thus, the ring opening of the intermediate complex would be the rate controlling step.
An absorption spectrometry coupled with flow injection analysis has been developed and tested for the analysis of the Cr$_2O_7^{2-}$/Nn$O_4^-$ mixtures. Even though one has to inject the sample twice into the FIA system and the process of the sample treatment is required to completely destroy the Mn$O_4^-$ ion for the analysis of the Cr$_2O_7^{2-}$ ion, the new method has definite advantages over the current method. It utilizes only a single analytical wavelength (570 nm) and enables one to construct calibration curves which accurately follow the Beer's law over wide ranges of analytical concentrations of both ions ($2.0{\times}10^{-6}$M∼$8.0{\times}10^{-3}$M for Cr$_2O_7^{2-}$ ion, $2.0{\times}10^{-6}$M∼$4.0{\times}10^{-3}$M for MnO4- ion).
Recent in the world environmental issues and energy depletion problems have been received attention. One way to solve these problems is to use hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs). Therefore, the interest in HEV technology is higher than ever before. Viable candidates for the energy-storage systems in HEV applications may be absorbent glass mat (AGM) lead-acid, nickel-metal-hydride (Ni-MH) and rechargeable lithium batteries. The AGM battery has advantages in terms of relatively low cost, high charge efficiency, low self-discharge, low maintenance requirements and safety as compared to the other batteries. In order to implement HEV system in required more electric power commercial vehicles AGM batteries was connected to 2 series-2 parallels (2S2P). In this study, a one-dimensional modeling is carried-out to predict the behaviors of 2S2P AGM batteries system during charge and discharge. The model accounts for electrochemical reaction rates, charge conservation and mass transport. In order to validate the model, modeling results are compared with the experimentally measured data in various conditions.

Deep Ocean Water (DOW) is formed within restricted area including polar sea (high latitude) by cooling of surface seawater and globally circulating in the state of isolation from surface seawater. Although it is not as obvious as estuaries mixing, brine ground water is mixture of recirculated seawater and ground water. Seawater having high osmotic pressure infiltrates into an aquifer which is connected to the sea. In order to clarify the characteristics of deep ocean water and brine ground water, we investigated their origins, chemical compositions, water qualities and resources stabilities. While concentrations of stable isotopes (/sup 18/O and ²H) in seawater is 0‰, those in brine ground water is on meteoric water line or shifted toward oxygen line. It means that origin of brine ground water is different than that of deep ocean water. The ions dissolved in seawater (Na, Ca, Mg, K) are present in constant proportions to each other and to the total salt content of seawater. However deviations in ion proportions have been observed in some brine ground water. Some causes of these exception to the rule of constant proportions are due to many chemical reactions between periphery soil and ground water. While DOW has a large quantity of functional trace metals and biological affinity relative to brine ground water, DOW has relatively small amount of harmful bacteria and artificial pollutants.
