The present study proposes the modified-stoichiometric model for describing hydration of sodium silicate-based alkaliactivated slag(AAS), and compares the results with the thermodynamic modelling-based calculations. The proposed model is based on Chen and Brouwers(2007a) model with updated database as reported in recent studies. In addition, the calculated results for AAS are compared to those for hydrated portland cement. The maximum difference between the proposed model and the thermodynamic calculation for AAS was at most 20%, and the effects of water-to-binder ratio and activator dosages were identically described by both approaches. In particular, the amount of non-evaporable water was within 10% difference, and was in excellent agreement with the experimental results. Nevertheless, notable deviation was observed for the chemical shrinkage, which is largely dependent on the volume of hydrates and pores.
본 연구는 Wataru Shimada 모델을 수소 TBAB 하이드레이이트의 분자 동역학 연구에 적용시켰으며, 실험에서 나온 데이터를 바탕으로 RDF(Radial Distribution Function)와 MSD(Mean Square Displacement)를 측정했다.

Nonstoichiometric solid solutions of Sr$_{1+x}Er _{1-x} FeO _{4-y}$ system (x = 0.00, 0.25, 0.50, 0.75 and 1.00) with layered $K_2NiF_4$ type structure were prepared at 1350$^{\circ}$C under atmospheric pressure. By the analysis of X-ray diffraction, the crystallographic structures of the solid solution of all compositions were found to be pseudo-tetragonal system. Nonstoichiometric chemical formulas have been determined by Mohr salt analysis. It shows that the amount of Fe$^{4+}$ increases with increasing x up to 0.50 and then decreases, and the value of oxygen nonstoichiometry increases with increasing x value. Mixed valency states of Fe$^{3+}$ and Fe$^{4+}$ in the sample were identified again by Mossbauer spectroscopic analysis at 298 K. Electrical conductivity varied within the semiconductivity range of 10-2 ∼ 10-7(${\Omega}$-1cm-1), activation energy for electrical conduction decreased with the increment of the mole ratio of Fe$^{4+}$ or ${\tau}$ value. The conduction mechanism could be explained by the hopping model of the conduction electrons between the valency states of Fe$^{3+}$ and Fe$^{4+}$.
Nonstoichiometric solid solutions of $Y_{1-x}A_xFeO_{3-y}$ (A = Ca, Sr) systems with perovskite structure were prepared for x = 0.00, 0.25, 0.50, 0.75 and 1.00 at 1200$^{\circ}C$ under atmospheric pressure, respectively. Crystallographic structures of the solid solutions of all compositions have been determined by the analysis of X-ray diffraction patterns. Reduced lattice volume of the $Y_{1-x}Ca_xFeO_{3-y}$ system was decreased with increasing x value and that of the $Y_{1-x}Sr_xFeO_{3-y}$ system was increased with increasing the x value. The mole ratios of $ Fe^{4+}$ to $ Fe^{3+}$, ${\tau}$, values in the solid solutions have been determined by Mohr salt's method of analysis and then the mixed valency was identified by Mossbauer spectroscopic analysis at 298 K. The y values were calculated from the x and ${\tau}$, and then nonstoichiometric chemical formulas were fixed. The conduction mechanism could be explained by hopping model of the conduction electrons between the mixed valence states.
Isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC) is a useful technique to obtain thermodynamic binding properties such as enthalpy, Gibbs free energy, entropy, and stoichiometry of the chelation reaction. A single independent binding site model was used to evaluate the thermodynamic binding properties in BaCl2 and ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) in Trince and HEPES buffers. ITC enables us to elucidate the binding mechanism and find an optimal chelation condition for BaCl2 and EDTA in the pH range of 7~11. Chelation of BaCl2 and EDTA is a spontaneous endothermic reaction. As pH increased, entropic contributions dominated. The optimal pH range is narrow around pH 9.0, where 1:1 binding between BaCl2 and EDTA occurs.
An accurate knowledge of the AIT(Autoignition temperatures) of chemicals is important in developing appropriate prevention and control measures in industrial fire protection. The AITs describe the minimum temperature to which a substance must be heated, without the application of a flame or spark, which will cause that substance to ignite. The measurement AITs are dependent upon many factors. namely initial temperature. pressure, volume, fuel/air stoichiometry. catalyst material, concentration of vapor, ignition delay time. This study measured the AITs of acids from ignition delay time by using ASTM E659-78 apparatus which was produced in the year 1994. The experiment AITs were a good agreement with the calculated AITs by the proposed equations with a few A.A.P.E.(average absolute percent error) and A.A.D.(average absolute deviation).
Based on experimental study of lycopodium dust particles' behavior, we suggest the flame propagation model through dust clouds. With dust concentration, flame velocity reaches a maximum value at $170g/m^3$ to exceed the stoichometric concentration for lycopodium-air mixture combustion and decreases slightly in the richer side of $500g/m^3$. At $47{\sim}200g/m^3$, mean velocity of particle increases in proportion to flame velocity. As the sum of burning rate and particle velocity is approximate in flame velocity, the flame propagation velocity with lycopodium dust concentration can be estimated by the calculation and it was found that behavior of particles is useful for better understanding of dust flame propagation velocity.

Effects of ceria additive on the activity and thermal aging behavior of supported Ru catalysts were investigated using Ru/${\gamma}$-$Al_2O_3$and Ru/$CeO_2$-${\gamma}$-$Al_2O_3$. The catalysts were characterized by $^{129}Xe$-NMR and $H_2$ chemisorption. The cataltic activity for conversion of CO, HC and $NO_x$ was measured using simulated automobile engine exhausts under lean, rich and stoichiometric conditions. For both fresh and aged catalysts, Ru/$CeO_2$-${\gamma}$-$Al_2O_3$ was more active than Ru/${\gamma}$-$Al_2O_3$ for all three pollutants. Results of $^{129}Xe$-NMR and $H_2$ chemisorption indicated that sintering of Ru particles occurred to the same extent for both catalysts during the thermal aging process. After thermal aging at 673K, however, the catalytic activity of the aged Ru/$CeO_2$-${\gamma}$-$Al_2O_3$ was substantially higher than that of the fresh one, while the activity of Ru/${\gamma}$-$Al_2O_3$ decreased after the thermal aging. This finding may suggest new active sites were created during the thermal aging, probably in the vicinity of the interface between Ru and Ce. For more quantitative investigation of the effect of a cation such as Ce on the thermal aging of Ru metal particles, Ru catalysts supported on cation-exchanged Y-zeolites were used as the model catalysts. The results indicated that when Ba, Ca, La, Y or Ce was used for the cation exchange, the exchanged cation did not affect the thermal aging behavior of Ru in Y-zeolite, as evidenced by $^{129}Xe$-NMR and EXAFS.
