For the enhancement of structural safety of thermally damaged reinforced concrete structure, rapid evaluation of damage in the structure is very important. This study addresses a simplified method which is equivalent to the standard fire curve (ISO 834) for the residual bond strength evaluation. In the proposed method, a exposure duration as well as the maximum temperature can be considered. For the comparisons with conventional methods, concrete properties obtained from the report of Daegu subway fire accident were referred and the results support the applicability of the proposed method in this study.

This study is aimed to investigate the residual strength of fire damaged high-performance concrete flexural and compressive members. The compressive strength of specimens is 55MPa and the main parameter for comparison is the exposure time to fire. In case of beams, the cover thickness made the differences in spalled section area, residual strength and serviceability. The exposure time to fire did not affect on the spalled section area in case of compressive members without loading. However, the residual strength and stiffness was reduced by the time exposed to fire. This study can be used to estimate the performance of fire damaged high-strength concrete structural members for reusing and to give the information for repairing and strengthening.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the mechanical performance and fire resistance of wet-mixed high strength sprayed polymer-modified mortar in order to protect tunnel lining system which are in the event of fire disaster. Since the current commercial fire-resistant materials reproduce the low strength issue of mortar, this study aims to provide an enhanced fire-resistant mortar with a proper strength. Normally, a large temperature gradient phenomenon arise in the vicinity of free surfaces which are fully exposed in the event of persistent flame. Thereby, the determination of optimal cover depth of wet-mixed high strength sprayed polymer-mortar(WHSPM) is important for fire-resistance of tunnel lining system. With comparison of current commercial fire-resistance materials and WHSPM, the experimental result of WHSPM shows the better fire-resistant performance than the others. In addition, the cover limitation should be controlled by minimum 4cm depth in order to avoid fire-induced damage.

Fire intensity in tunnel fire is very severe, which might cause the spalling on the surface of shotcrete and concrete lining exposed to the heat as well as rapidly-reducing stress due to heat transfer by steel material such as anchor embedded in tunnel which plays the critical role in securing the stability of the tunnel. In this study, a fire test to identity the heat intensity(Modifired Hydrocarbon Curve) and the fire resistance of steel materials embedded as parameters, was carried out. And the evaluation to identify the thermal damage, which was based on critical temperature range for thermal damage of steel materials determined according to the road tunnel fire resistance standard established by ITA(International Tunneling Association).

Concrete is inherently a good fire-resistance material among all other constrcution materials and protects the reinforcing steel inside. This study investigates the material characteristics of concrete and steel bar inside the full scale reinforced concrete(RC) beam exposed to fire test. The fire test specimen was 4 m long and the test was conducted under no loading condition following KS F 2257. Fire source is simulated by ISO 834 and number of thermocouples were installed to measure temperature variation of surfaces and inside of the beam. The measured compressive strength of cored specimen, which was exposed to fire test, was 11 MPa, about 66% lower than the strength before exposure. The yielding strength of steel bar also decreased about 75 MPa, about 17% lower. The measured temperature of protected steel bar was around $649^{\circ}C$, the critical limit, after 4 hour exposure.

In this study, we analysed the effect of the fire source in the warehouse under the bridge and the height of the bridge using FDS code. To compare accuracy of simulation results, we simulated the experimental result with unit combustibles which is heptane as well as the mock-up test. Using this method, we evaluated the fire safety of the bridge which contains spalling and strength damage of concrete as well as damage of reinforcements according to the fire source and the height of the bridge. Most of the bridges are vulnerable to spalling of concrete. The book combustion has the strongest fire intensity which is expected to damage the bridge less than 30m height in the three types of the fire sources. The bridge over the 30m height can ensure the fire safety in the case of the rubber combustion.

High strength concrete is not only vulnerable to the occurrence of spalling which generates the loss of cross-section in concrete structures but produces faster degradation in its mechanical properties than normal strength concrete in the event of fire. This study aims to evaluate fire resistance of high strength segment concrete with PET fibers mixed to prevent spalling under ISO834 (2hr) and RABT fire curve. As results, the samples without PET fibers show the concrete loss up to the depth of about 8 cm and 9.5 cm from the surface exposed to fire under ISO834 and RABT fire curve respectively. The samples mixed with PET fiber of 0.1% show no spalling under ISO834 fire curve and the spalled thickness of 6.5 cm under RABT fire curve after the fire tests. Finally, the sample mixed with PET fiber of 0.2% shows no spalling under RABT fire curve. The results indicate that the suitable amounts of PET fiber for securing fire resistance performance of this high strength segment concrete are 0.1% under ISO834 fire curve and 0.2% under RABT fire curve. However, even though spalling does not occur, it is necessary to repair the deterioration of concrete up to 4 cm from the surface exposed to fire after fire.

In this study, experimental test and numerical analysis were conducted to investigate the heat transfer characteristics and fiber performance of high strength concrete. The fire characteristics of the high strength concrete that couldn't be obtained through the test due to specific requirements and restrictions were forecast using numerical analysis approach. The outcome from the numerical analysis and the test were compared to verify and improve the reliability of the analysis. A numerical analysis of 80 and 100 MPa high strength concrete cases were carried out to identify the heat transfer characteristics and fire behavior using software, ABACUS (V6.8) From the results of verification experiment, a 25~55% level of beam shrinkage reduction was observed compared to the concrete without Fiber-Cocktail, indicating the improved fire resistance performance, which appeared to be attributable to the function of Fiber-Cocktail that was able to control the heat transfer characteristics and ultimately result in enhancing the fire resistance performance.
