Creating more efficient and effective intermodal transportation service in Northeast range is a critical issue because of more increased trade volume & demand for intermodal service in the world market and geographical barriers associated with goods transportation, especially in Korea, China and Japan. This study examines the possibility of Rail-ferry in Northest area which can provide each countries mutual economical and logistical satisfaction.

Rail transport has been considered as an environmental-friendly transport mode compared with other transport modes such as ship, truck, and aircraft. However, rail industry can not avoid a duty of alleviating Greenhouse gases emission owing to the Korean government polices for green growth which is an economic paradigm that simultaneously pursues growth and environmental improvement. The purpose of this research is to develop a methodology of determining an economic speed of freight train to be green freight train by considering fuel cost, environmental cost, and time cost. In the methodology, we first define a cost function based on cost factors and then suggest an economic speed of freight train by deriving a property.

In these days, rail container service is being more important because it has relatively simple network. In addition, small lot sizes of shipment, frequent shipment, and demand for flexible service are important characteristics in rail container transportation. Efficient container operation at terminals is important in reducing transportation costs and load/unload time. This paper describes the assigning track of freight trains in the railway freight terminal. The paper addresses the operational requirements and facility restrictions to construct a mathematical model for track assignment. In addition, it suggests several types of objectives for the model.

2012년 상용화가 목표인 국내 위그선 개발은 화물운송과 여객운송에 큰 변화를 가져올 것으로 판단된다. 특히 부산은 일본과의 여객에서 수요가 클 것으로 판단되며 이에 2012년 이후 상용화에 위그선 터미널 등 관계시설을 계획할 필요가 있지만 현재까지 북항재개발계획에 포함시키자는 단순 논의만 있을뿐 뚜렷한 계획이 없는 실정이다. 위그선의 경우 속도가 빨라서 현실적으로 북항지역에 터미널을 생성시 어려움이 있을것으로 판단되며 이에 현재 영도 동삼동 크루즈터미널이 북항재개발 지역에 신규 크루즈터미널이 만들어진 후 여유가 있을것으로 판단되어 이를 활용화할 필요가 있다. 이률 위해 영도 태종대와 롯데월드를 잇는 관광벨트와 부산역과 연계된 열차화물수송을 적극 활용할 수 있게 영도 경전철을 고려해 볼 필요가 있다.

Recently, in order to improve the efficiency of freight transportation on existing lines, a new freight train model is needed to develop urgently. The weight balance of the cargo for the freight vehicle is very important for the stability of the running train and the safe transportation of the cargo. For achieving the cargo weight balance, we proposed a Cargo Balancing Control(CBC) system on the Freight vehicle equipped in between under frame of car body and bogie system. The Cargo Safety Monitoring(CSM) system was designed to supervise status of the Cargo on freight train. The monitoring system can display real time status data from sensors and various signals effectively. We suggested that this paper is a very useful approach for keeping the safety of running freight trains on existing lines.

우리나라에 철도가 도입된 역사는 개화초기인 구한말 고종 26년에 주한대리공사 이 하영이 귀국시 외국의 기차모형을 우리나라에 소개하면서 우리나라에 철도가 처음 소개되었으며, 지속적으로 철도기술의 발전을 추진한 결과 1998년 현재 철도총연장은 3,101km, 1일 열차운행횟수는 2,685대, 수송력은 여객의 경우 2,240,000명, 화물의 경우 160,000ton에 이르고 있다. 아울러 현재 기존 철도의 물동량 수송정도가 포화상태에 접어들면서 현재 활발하게 건설중에 있는 경부고속철도를 위시하여 계획단계에 있는 호남고속철도, 동서고속철도 등 철도기술은 나날이 발전을 거듭하고 있다. 현재 정부는 지금까지 관청 조직인 철도청에 의해 철도시설의 건설 및 유지관리 업무와 열차 수송 업무 등 운영부문을 일괄적으로 수행되어 오던 우리나라의 철도교통체계를 근본적으로 변화시키는 작업을 추진하고 있다. '철도구조개혁'이라 지칭되는 이러한 작업은 소위 말하는 상하분리 또는 수직적 분리의 원칙에 따라 철도청의 업무를 하부구조에 해당하는 기반시설(infrastructure) 부문과 철도차량을 운행하여 여객과 화물을 운송하는 운영부문으로 구분하여, 기반시설에 해당하는 부문은 기본적으로 사회간접자본의 개념에서 국가의 책임으로 하고 운영부문에 해당하는 부문은 타 교통수단의 운영주체 위상(예: 고속버스 회사, 항공회사 등)과 같은 민간 경영체제로 전환한 다는 것이 주 내용이다.(중략)

This thesis watches for the present condition of both economic exchange and goods transport between South and North Korea focused on material side as a provision for the railway connection between them. This is also a predicting thesis for a smooth goods transport in case of setting up a goods transport system between south and North Korea predicting transport demand for the connection of a railway and road studying fundamental facilities and transport related laws.
