This study proposed a modified logistic regression model for a probabilistic prediction of debris flow on natural terrain at the granitic rock area. The modified model dose not contain any categorical factors that were used in the previous model and secured higher reliability of prediction than that of the previous one. The modified model is composed of lithology, two factors of geomorphology, and three factors of soil property. Verification result shows that the prediction reliability is more than 86%. Using the modified regression model, the landslide prediction maps were established. In case of Sacheon area, the prediction map showed that the landslide occurrence was not well corresponded with the model since, even though the forest-fred area was distributed on the center of the model, no factors were considered for the landslide predictions. On the other hand, the prediction model was well corresponded with landslide occurrence at Jumunjin-Yeongok area. The prediction model developed in this study has very high availability to employ in other granitic areas.
The granitic rocks in the study area are divided into the schist and gneiss complex, Yongdok pluton, Yonghae pluton and Onjong pluton by their texture, fabric and relationship to the adjacent rocks in the field, Schist and gneiss complex occurs as xenolith or roof pendant in the Yongdok, Yonghae and Onjong plutons. The Yongdok pluton occurs in association with pegmatite and aplite in many places of its pluton. In the field it is obviously clarified that the Yongdok pluton is unconformably overlay by the Cretaceous sedimentary rocks. The Yonghae and Onjong plutons are gradationally changed each other, and these plutons truncate both the Yongdok pluton and the Cretaceous sedimentary rocks. Petrographically, the Yongdok pluton consists of granodiorite and granite with minor quartz monzonite. The Yonghae pluton is composed of diorite, quartz diorite, tonalite, and granodiorite. The Onjong pluton also ranges granodiorite to granite. Both the Yongdok and Yonghae-Onjong plutons are different in the constituent minerals, such as alkali feld~par, myrmekite, mica, sphene and mafic minerals. This suggests that each pluton might have been different crystallization sequence and characteristically different gological history during the crystallization period. Iron/magnesium ratio in biotite and hornblende from both the Yongdok and Yonghae-Onjong plutons gradually decrease as the differentiation index increasing in the whole rock. The decrease of this ratio strongly depend on the increase of opaque mineral contents. From the results of chemistry in the whole rocks and some mafic minerals, it is suggest that the granite plutons of the two different geological ages would have been suffered the environment of high oxygen fugacity in the process of magmatic emplacement and during the crystallization period.
Tin mineralizations in South Korea have been found only in the Ulchin and Sangdong areas. They appear to be in close spatial association with the Wangpiri granitoid in the UlChin area, and the Nonggeori and Naedeogri granites in the Sangdong area. However, previous works have revealed that there are considerable differences in geological setting, mineralogical and geochemical compositions among these granitoids concerned. The roles of discriminant and multiple regression analysis have been examed to establish geochemical differences among the tin-granitoids and to identify elements relating to tin mineralizations. The data set used in this study consists of 60 observations with 29 elements which are cited from pre-existing publications. A stepwise discriminant analysis determined the group of variables that differentiate between samples from four training sets; Buncheon, Wangpiri, Nonggeori and Naedeogri granitoids. These granitoids were most effectively discriminated on the basis of major elements FeO, CaO and $P_2O_5$ and also by the trace elements Rb and Zr. Results of the multiple regression analysis shows that the level of Sn in granitoids depends positively on ones of MnO, Rb and FeO and negatively $P_2O_5$. Graphical representation of discriminant scores on sampling locations greatly aid recognition of differences in the geochemical characteristics in terms of spatial distribution of granitoids examed. The application of the discriminant analysis provides a potential means of identifying and comparing geochemical characteristics.
Pb isotopic compositions were determined from the ore deposits of Beonam, Dongjin, Jeoksang and Bukchang mines distributed within Jeolabuk-do. As a result, individual mine shows significantly different values of Pb isotopic compositions from each other. Pb isotopic values of the Beonam, Bukchang and Dongjin mines altogether from linear variation, but it is too steep to represent their formation age. Instead, such trend suggests that these ore leads were originated from binary mixing. Precambrian basement rocks and Mesozoic granitoids are suggested for such two end-members. The relative contribution of lead from each source seems to be quite different for each ore deposit, implying that the circulation of the ore-forming fluid was very localized when they were formed. In the case of Dongjin mine it seems significant portion of the ore leads were originated from the basement rocks, which suggests that related igneous rock seems to have acted as heat source to generate circulation of the fluid rather than the source of the ore-forming elements.
About forty ore deposits of $CaF_2{\pm}Au{\pm}Ag{\pm}Cu{\pm}Pb{\pm}Zn$ are widely distributed in the Geumsan district and are believed to be genetically related to the Mesozoic Geumsan granitic rocks. Based on their petrogeochemistry and isotopic dating data, the granitic rocks in this district can be classified into two groups ; the Jurassic granitic rocks(equigranular leucocratic granite, porphyritic biotite granite, porphyritic pink-feldspar granite, seriate leucocratic granite) and the Cretaceous granitic rocks(seriate pink-feldspar granite, equigranular alkali-feldspar granite, equigranular pink-feldspar granite, miarolitic pink-feldspar granite, equigranular biotite granite). Spatial distribution of fluorite ore deposits, fluorine contents of granitic rocks and fracture patterns in this district suggest that three granitic rocks(equigranular biotite granite, equigranular pink-feldspar granite, miarolitic pink-feldspar granite) of the Cretaceous period be genetically related to the fluorite mineralization. In these fluorite-related granitic rocks, fluorine is most highly correlated with Cs(correlation coefficient(r)>0.9), and also highly with MnO, U, Sm, Yb, Lu, Zn, Y, Li(r>0.7). Statistically the variation of fluorine in the fluorite-related granitic rocks can be explained in terros of only three elements, such as Lu, CaO and Cs, and the fluorite-related granitic rocks can be discriminated from the fluorite-nonrelated granitic rocks by a linear functional equation of La, Ce, Cs and F($Z_{Ust}=-1.38341-0.00231F-0.19878Ce+0.38169La+0.54720Cs$). Also, equigranular alkali-feldspar granite is classified into the fluorite-related granitic rocks by means of the linear functional equation($Z_{Ust}$).

The geology of the Kualakulun in the Middle Kalimantan, Indonesia comprises Permian to Carboniferous Pinoh Metamorphic Rocks and Cretaceous Sepauk Plutonics of the Sunda Shield, late Eocene Tanjung Formation, Oligocene Malasan Volcanics, Oligocene to early Miocene Sintang Intrusives and Quaternary alluvium. Tanjung Formation was deposited in low-and high-sinuosity channel networks developed on the proximal to distal delta plain and delta front forming southward paleoflow system, which, in turn, gradually change into shallow marine environment. Four main deformational phases are recognized: D1, folding of metamorphic rocks accompanied by development of S1 schistosity under regional metamorphic condition; D2, ductile shearing in Cretaceous granitoids; D3, folding of metamorphic rocks accompanied by S2 crenulation cleavage; D4, faulting under N-S compressional regime during Tertiary times, producing NE-trending sinistral and NW-trending dextral strike-slip faults and N-S to NNE-trending normal faults.
The northeastern part of the Gyeongsang Basin is widely covered by the Cretaceous Hayang Group (Aptian to Albian). The Hayang Group consists of the IIjig. Hupyeongdong, Jeomgog, and Sagog formations. Heavy mineral analysis was carried out to define the possible source rocks of the Haynag Group snadstones. Heavy minerals separated from IIjig, Hupyeongdong, and Jeomgog sandstones are hematite, ilmenite, leucoxene, magnetite, pyrite, actinolite, andalusite, apatite, biotite, chlorite, epidote, garnet, hornblende, kyanite, monazite, muscovite, rutile, sphene, spinel, staurolite, tourmaline, and zircon. Based on their close association and sensitiveness, the heavy mineral assemblages can be classified into 6 syutes: 1)apatite-green tourmaline-sphene-colorless/yellowish zircon; 2) colorless garnet-epidote-rutile-brown tourmaline; 3) rounded purple zircon-rounded tourmaline-rounded rutile; 4) augite-hornblende-color- less zircon; 5) epidote-garnet-sphene; and 6) blue tourmaline. The possible source rocks corresponding to each assemblage are 1) granitic rocks; 2) metamorphic rocks (schist and gneiss) ; 3) older sedimentary rocks; 4) andesitic rocks; 5) metamorphosed impure limestone; and 6) pegmatite, respectively. Previous paleocurrent data suggest that the sediments of the study area were mainly derived from the northeastern to southeastern directions. Thus, the most possible source areas would be the east extension part of the sobaegsan metamorphic complex to the northeast and the Cheongsong Ridge to the southeast.
The granitic rocks distributed in the southern part of the Yangsan Fault are classified into five distinct rock facies based on the field relation, petrography and geochemical characteristics. These five different rock facies can be grouped into two considering their origins. Group I, which reveals various evidences of magma mixing, includes three rock facies of granodiorite, enclave-rich porphyritic granite, and enclave-poor porphyritic granite. Group H intruding Croup I includes equigranular granite and micrographic granite with no evidence of magma mixing. It is suggested that the distinctively different trace element and isotopic chemistries between group I and II, support evolution from the different parental magma. It is suggested that the three rock facies in group I were generated by different degrees of magma mixing in addition to fractionation of plagioclase. MMEs experienced fractionation of biotite. The two facies in group H seem to have been generated from different parent magma from group I and evolved by fractionation of K-feldspar. The Rb-Sr whole-rock ages of the group I rocks yield $59.2\~58.9Ma$, and those of the group II rocks give 53. $3\~51.7Ma$, regardless of their distribution whether they occur in the eastern or western parts of the Yangsan Fault. Based on Sm-Nd isotope compositions, depleted mantle model ages $(T_2DM)$ of the group I range $0.8\~0.9Ga$, while those of the group II$0.6\~0.7Ga$.
We present petrography, mineral chemistry of amphibole and plagioclase, and major and trace element chemistry for the Ogcheon metabasites occurring in the Poun and Mungyong areas to understand metamorphism, and to define chemical characteristics of parental rocks and their implication for tectonic environment. The Ogcheon metabasites often preserve relict igneous textures, although no primary phases are observed. They are mainly composed of amphibole (actinolite+hornblende)+plagioclase+epidote+chlorite+sphene+opaque oxides, indicating epidote amphibolite facies metamorphism. Coarse-grained amphiboles frequently have actinolitic composition in the core, and hornblende along the margin and cleavage, which can be interpreted either as miscibility gap or as result of polymetamorphism. Although presumed polymetamorphic events in the Ogcheon supergroup favor the latter possibility, further metamorphic studies are necessary to solve the problem. Amphibole and plagioclase chemistries suggest greenschist (epidote-amphibolite, if miscibility gap is present) to amphibolite facies metamorphism of possibly medium pressure. The major and trace element data of whole rocks indicate that the Ogcheon metabasites are transitional to tholeiitic basalts belonging to within-plate environment. Absence of evidences indicating deep sea environment suggests that the Ogcheon metabasites emplaced in an intra-cratonic, possibly rift environment which failed to proceed to an oceanic rift. Chemical variation of the metabasites toward a granitic pluton indicates K loss closer to the pluton, suggesting that caution should be taken when K is involved in a discussion.
The Charnockite in Sancheong region is quarzofeldspathic rock containing orthopyroxene and garnet with a color dark than common granitic rocks. The Chamockite are mostly massive and medium to coarse-grained with K-feldspar phenocryst, but reveal weak foliation. The rock consist mainly of quartz, K-feldspar, plagioclase and orhopyroxene, with biotite, garnet, and anthophyllite. In petrochemistry, the Chamockite has 61-65% $SiO_2$ contents, varying gradually into the margin contacted with orthogneiss, which have compositions of felsic igneous rocks. Major element show almost systematical variation with those of the marginal orthogneisses, except the hornblende gneiss and anorthosite. The Charnockite and orthogneisses show the tholeiitic differentiational trend. Trace and rare earth element abundance patterns in the Charnockite show remarkable negative Sr and Eu anomalies similar to orthogneisses, but different from the hornblende gneiss and anorthosite. Eu contents of the Charnockite are richer than that of orthogneisses. The metamorphic condition of the Charnockite were tested by an orthopyroxene-garnet geotherrnorneter and a plagioclase-garnet geobarometer. Estimated P-T conditions are about $761^{\circ}C$ and 7 kbar at peak metamorphism, but $653^{\circ}C$ and 6.4 kbar at retrograde metamorphism. This suggests that the Charnockite have from an early stage of high-grade metamorphism to represent the granulite facies and then to a late stage medium-grade metamorphism belonging to the amphibolite facies.
