(A User Authentication System Using Geometric Analysis and Similarity Comparison) (얼굴의 기하학적 분석과 유사도 비교를 이용한 사용자 인증 시스템)

  • The more high growth of knowledge, the more need personal identity technique. Fingerprint or iris of the eye identity techniques are already commercialized and used various field. Using human face recognition or authentication are not high performance yet. But application for an organism or face recognition are expected getting important. We propose a user recognition system by verifying similarity comparison of eye and lip component images which are splitted, calculated characteristic rate of each facial components and added weight to special formula. Through test proposed methods and analysis the result, we got a high recognition rate.

  • The need to be able to identify other individual human beings is fundamental to the security and has been true since the beginning of human history. Physical or behavioral characteristics (finger-scan, face-scan, voice, palm, iris, retina, signature, human DNA, keystroke, vain, gait etc.) of a person are used to authenticate the person. The biometric technologies allow for a greater reliability of authentication as compared with password systems for physical access, network security, e-commerce, and so on. In this paper, we describe various technologies, market analysis, multi-modal system, standardization, privacy issue and future prospect of biometrics.

Eye Irritation Test of Lens Washing Agents as ReNuTM (렌즈 보존액 ReNuTM에 대한 안점막자극시험)

  • As the eye irritant test of lens washing agent, ReNu$^{TM}$ was analysed using Draize methods (1959) according to KFDA Guidelines. In addition, to test the potential toxicity of test articles the ratio of inflammatory cells and non-inflammatory epitheloid cells were also observed using smear cytology methods against ocular discharge. At test, the histopathological changes on the cornea, iris, retina and sclera were also observed in all animals. Slight irritancy of the cornea and conjunctiva were observed at 1, 2 and 3 days after dropping in non-washing group. The Mean Index of Ocular Irritation(MIOI) of these points are detected as 4.17, 3.00 and 1.33, respectively. In washing group, slight irritancy of the cornea and conjunctiva were observed at 1 and 2 days after dropping with MIOI as 0.67 and 1.33, respectively. Therefore, ReNu$^{TM}$ was considered as non-irritating materials because the MIOI is detected below 5.00 throughout the whole experimental periods in both washing and non-washing groups. The Index of Acute Ocular Irritation(IAOI) is also detected as 4.17(1 day after dropping). Except of the somewhat increase trend of the inflammatory cell ratios in ocular discharge at 1 day after dropping of non-washing group, but significances are not detected, on the other hand, no meaningful changes on smear cytology of ocular discharges are observed in this study. In addition, no abnormal histopathological changes on the cornea, iris, retina and sclera were also not detected in ReNu$^{TM}$ dropping group compared to that of non-treated control eyes.

  • The Korean bitterling, Acheilognathus signifer (Osteichthyes Cyprinidae), is an endemic and endangered species in Korea. During developmental stages, a small number of oculocutaneous albinism (with colorless body and eyeballs) were observed in the species. In order to investigate histological differences between normal and albinic bitterling, the dorsal skin and choroid-retina of the eyes were taken. The skin and eyes of normal and albino bitterling were similar in structure except for the presence or density of pigment cells. In normal bitterling, the epidermal melanocytes and dermal melanophores were abundantly developed in both the skin and epidermis of the eyes. But in the albino, the dorsal skin had few melanins, and the pigment cells over the choroid-retina pigment epithelium and iris of the eye were very small.

Synthesis and bioactivity evaluation of metal ion-substitution biphasic calcium phosphate for bone defect reconstruction (골결손부 재건을 위한 금속 이온 치환 이상인산칼슘 합성 및 생체 활성 평가)

  • The co-precipitation technique has been applied to synthesize Biphasic Calcium Phosphate (BCP), Mg-BCP and Si-BCP. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Fourier transformed infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy were used to characterize the structure of synthesized BCP, Mg-BCP and Si-BCP powders. The results have shown that BCP and substitution of magnesium and silicon in the calcium deficient apatites revealed the formation of biphasic mixtures of Hydroxyapatite (HAp)/${\beta}$-Tricalcium phosphate (${\beta}$-TCP) ratios after heating at $1000^{\circ}C$. Ionic substituted BCP is able to develop a new apatite phase on the surface in contact with physiological fluids faster than BCP does. An MTT assay indicated that BCP, Mg-BCP, and Si-BCP powders had no cytotoxic effects on MG-63 cells, and that they have good biocompatibility.

  • For the studying of the optical property of the human eye by using the Seidel aberrations with schematic eyes, we have used the several paraxial and fine schematic eyes. In another world, after fixing the iris ot aperture pinhole on the anterior of lens, we investigated how the surface contributions and the surface asphericity affected the optical properties of schematic eyes by using the Seidel aberration coefficients variation. Also, by analysis of dividing both a relaxed state and the accommodation state of the eye, we investigated the change of the optical properties during the change of accommodation.

Focus Control for CCD Camera using Annealing Algorithm (어닐링 알고리즘을 이용한 CCD 카메라 초점 제어)

  • In this paper, we propose a method for controlling camera focus in the short distance by analyzing NTSC signal of a CCD camera. When the distance between a camera and an object is less than about 1 meter, the existing CCD cameras with auto-focusing function are hard to acquire the proper images because they focus on the protruding minute parts ofthe object without taking into account the whole state of the object. To solve such a problem, we use an annealing algorithm to control the motor of a camera by analyzing the overall signal obtained from the camera. By doing so, we can acquire the adequate images at the near distance. The proposed method will be used for a personal identification system by human iris patterns.

  • Well developed hydroxyapatite whiskers (length 5 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$, diameter 0.5 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$) have been synthesized by the hydrolysis reaction of $\alpha$-tricalcium phosphate ($\alpha$-Ca$_3$(PO$_4$)$_2$) under pH 9.1 at 9$0^{\circ}C$ for 6 h. The effect of reaction conditions (temperature, time, pH) on the conversion of $\alpha$-tricalcium phosphate to hydroxyapatite was examined. In addition, the hydroryapatite was characterized in terms of microstructure, composition and thermal stability using XRD, SEM, ICP, and TGA instruments.

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study is to report the relationship between iridological constitution and interleukin 1 beta (IL-1 $\beta$) gene polymorphism. Methods : Iris constitution were diagnosed by automatic Iris analysis system, Bexel Irina(Korea). The blood was stored at - $20^{\circ}$... until it was ready to be extracted. The genomic DNA was extracted by inorganic procedure. The concentration of DNA was estimated by absorbance at 260 nm. The interleukin-1 beta (IL-1 $\beta$) gene polymorphism was detected by PCR amplification. Results & Conclusions : The author classified 166 individuals according to Iris constitution, and determined IL-1 $\beta$ genotype. The frequencies of Iris constitutions as follows : neurogenic type, 41 (24.7%); abdominal connective tissue weakness type, 53(31.9%); cardio-renal connective tissue weakness type, 50 (30.1%); the others type, 22 (13.3%). Especially, the frequency of abdominal connective tissue weakness type was significantly higher in err genotype than in the remaining constitutions. As a result, The author demonstrated the association among IL-1 $\beta$ genotype, IBD and Iris constitution.

  • Background : Constitution is related to allergic patients. Objective : The aim of this study was to analyzed allergy Material and Method : We investigated 50 patients suffering from allergy and analyzed the relationship iris constitution and allergy. Conclusion : We analyzed allergy patients, among of them, Abdominal connective tissue weakness constitution is 33(66%), neurogenic type and hydrogenic constitution is 10(20%), bronchopulmonary connective tissue weakness constitution is 5(10%). We know that Allergic patients are abdominal connective tissue weakness constitution, neurogenic type, hydrogenic constitution and bronchopulmonary connective tissue weakness constitution.
