This work is a metallogeny on gold-silver deposits in South Korea based on the close examination of the author's own data and a broad review of existing literature available. The metallogenic epochs in Korea are temporarily connected with the history of tectonism and igneous activities, and are identified as the Precambrian, Paleozoic, Jurassic to early Cretaceous, late Cretaceous to early Tertiary, and Quaternary epochs, whereas the metallogenic provinces are spatially associated with some of the felsic to intermediate igneous rocks, lacking mineralization related to basic and ultrabasic rocks. The metallogeny on the gold-silver deposits is mostly related to the granitic rocks intrusives. Epigenetic gold-silver mineralization in South Korea ranges in metallogenic epochs from Precambrian through Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous to Eocene (?), in genetic types from hypothermal through mesothermal and epithermal quartz-sulfide veins to volcanogenic stockworks, with some disseminated types. Reporting on metallic association from gold without silver, gold-silver, silver-gold, silver without gold, and gold or silver as a by-product from other metallic ores. The most representative genetic types and metal associations of gold-silver deposits are hydrothermal quartz veins associated with the Daebo and Bulgugsa granitic magmatism. The most closely associated paragenetic metallic minerals in gold-silver hydrothermal quartz-sulfide vein type deposits are: copper, lead, zinc, pyrite and arsenopyrite. More than 560 gold-silver mines are plotted in the distribution map grouped within the 10 different metallogenic provinces of South Korea. Specific mineralizations with related mineral association in both sulfides and gangues observed selected from 18 Korean and 8 Japanese Au-Ag deposits. The 7 selected individual gold-silver mines representing specific mineralization types are described in this report.
This paper aims to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 by analyzing confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Daejeon. A high volume of visitors, downtown areas, and psychological fatigue with prolonged social distancing were considered as risk factors associated with the spread of COVID-19. We considered the weekly confirmed cases in each administrative district as a response variable. Explanatory variables were the number of passengers getting off at a bus station in each administrative district and the elapsed time since the Korean government had imposed distancing in daily life. We employed a mixed-effects zero-inflated Poisson regression model because the number of cases was repeatedly measured with excess zero-count data. We conducted k-means clustering to identify three groups of administrative districts having different characteristics in terms of the number of bars, the population size, and the distance to the closest college. Considering that the number of confirmed cases might vary depending on districts' characteristics, the clustering information was incorporated as a categorical explanatory variable. We found that Covid-19 was more prevalent as population size increased and a district is downtown. As the number of passengers getting off at a downtown district increased, the confirmed cases significantly increased.
Natural ventilation in a four and one-half span, double polyethylene commercial greenhouse was investigated with actual data collected at Quailcrest Farm near Wooster, Ohio. Moreover, a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) numerical technique, FLUENT V4.3, was used to predict natural ventilation rates, thermal conditions, and airflow distributions in the greenhouse. The collected climate data showed that the multi-span greenhouse was well ventilated by the natural ventilation system during the typical summer weather conditions. The maximum recorded air temperature difference between inside and outside the greenhouse was 3.5$^{\circ}C$ during the hottest (34.7$^{\circ}C$) recorded sunny day; the air temperatures in the greenhouse were very uniform with the maximum temperature difference between six widely dispersed locations being only 1.7$^{\circ}C$. The CFD models predicted that air exchange rates were as high as 0.9 volume per minute (A.C. .min$^{-1}$ ) with 2.5m.s$^{-1}$ winds from the west as designed.

Purpose : Rotaviruses are the major cause of gastroenteritis in infants and young children worldwide. It is important to get the epidemiologic data of rotavirus genotype for the application of rotavirus vaccine. So we tried to investigate the distribution of rotavirus genotypes with RT-PCR. Methods : A total of 120 rotavirus latex agglutinin test positive stool samples were collected continually from 120 children from Sep. 2000 to Apr. 2001. Rotavirus P(VP4), G (VP7) genotypes were determined by RT-PCR. Results : The genotype was identified in 116 stool samples of total 120 samples(96%). The incidence of G genotype was as follow; G1 17(14.2%), G2 74(61.7%), G4 1(0.8%), G9 1(0.8%). There were four cases of multiple genotypes; G1/G2, G1/G4, G1/G9, G8/G9 and genotype of G3, G8 were not found. Twenty three(19.2%) samples were nontypeable. The incidence of P was as follow; P[4] 77(64.2%), P[6] 22(18.3%), P4/P6 12(10%), P[4]/P[8] 1(0.8%) p[8] 1(0.8%). Seven(5.9%) samples were nontypeable. Conclusion : Various combinations of G and P genotypes were observed. Most rotavirus strains were P[4]G2 62(51.74%), followed by P[6]G2 7(5.8%), and P[6]G1 7(5.8%), P[4/P[6] G1 4(3%), P[4]/P[6]G2 4(3%), P[4]G1 3(2.5%), P[8]G2 1(0.8%), P[4]G4 1(0.8%) in Kyoungsangnamdo, Korea during 2000~2001.
This study was conducted to investigate the genetic relationships among four reproductive traits. Data for this study were 7616 records from 1910 Landrace (L) and 10,454 records from 2283 Yorkshire (Y) in a closed nucleus swine herd. Traits considered on this study were gestation length (GL), total number of piglets born (TNB), wean to first service (WFS), and number of stillborn per litter (NSB). Heritabilities and genetic correlations were estimated by using the Bayesian inferences via Gibbs sampling in a four trait linear-threshold repeatability animal mixed model by designating NSB as a categorical trait in the L and Y purebred populations. Effects on the statistical model were considered for parity, contemporary group as fixed and service sire, permanent environmental, animal additive genetic effects as random. Estimates of heritability were 0.21, 0.23, 0.16, and 0.09 for GL, WFS, TNB, and NSB in the L population and 0.35, 0.16, 0.14 and 0.10 for corresponding traits in the Y population, respectively. Genetic correlation for GL was -0.59 and -0.28 with TNB and -0.58 and -0.17 with NSB in the L and Y populations, respectively. The NSB was positively correlated with TNB in the L and Y populations in genetic and environmental aspects. Therefore, the NSB should be taken into account in selecting sows for improving prolificacy of dam line breeding swine stock.
This study was performed to survey dioptric differences between the refractive states of both eyes from 1,100 patients who were given their prescriptions in spectacles. The differences were obtained by using dioptric power matrix. The prevalence of anisometropia was 96.9% for isoanisometropia, 2.9% for simple anisometropia, 0.2% for antimetropia. Spherical anisometropia was 22.1%, cylindrical anisometropia was 10.9%, spherocylindrical anisometropia was 46.5%, and no anisometropia was 20.5%. Anisometropia was more in thirties and forties than in other groups. In distribution of only spherical diopter differences, 76.1% were less than 0.50D, 91.7% were under 1.00D, only 2.5% were over 2.00D. In cylindrical diopter differences alone, 93.3% had under 0.50D, 1.7% had more than 1.00D. In spherocylindrical anisometropia, 52.8% were less than 0.50D, 78.6% were under 1.00D, 5.1% were more than 2.00D. In axis differences, with-the-rule type was 29.9%, against-the-rule type was 29.8%, oblique type was 40.3%.
The axial compressive strength, relative 3-D stability and osteoconductive shape design of an intervertebral fusion cage are important biomechanical factors for successful intervertebral fusion. Changes in the stress distribution of the vertebral end plate and in cage stability due to changes in the spike shape of a newly contrived box-shaped fusion cage are investigated. In this investigation, the initial contact of the cage's spikes with the end plate and the penetration of the cage's spikes into the end plate are considered. The finite element analysis is conducted to study the effects of the cage's spike height, tip width and angle on the stress distribution of the vertebral end plate, and the micromigration of the cage in the A-P direction. The stress distribution in the end plate is examined when a normal load of 1700N is applied to the vertebra after inserting 2 cages. The micromigration of the cage is examined when a pull out load of l00N is applied in the A-P direction. The analysis results reveal that the spike tip width significantly influences the stress concentration in the end plate, but the spike height and angle do not significantly influence the stress distribution in the end plate touching the cage's spikes. In addition, the analysis results show that the micromigration of the cage can be reduced by adjusting the spike angle and spike arrangement in the A-P direction. This study proposes the optimal shape of an intervertebral fusion cage, which promotes bone fusion, reduces the stress concentration in a vertebral end plate, and increases mechanical stability.
The objects of this experiment are to find out the local variation of the Dendrolimus Spectabilis Butler, of which sample was first collecteted 15 bodies of male and 35 bodies of female adult at Suwon area. the wing veins and the scale shape have been observed through the microscope (100) and the scale size (from the bottom of the scale to the top of the lobe) has also been measured by the micrometer. The results of this experiment are as follows: 1. There is nodifference between the venation of the male body and that of the female body. Also we can not find any differences between the right and the left wing, and between each body. The fore wings consit of 13 longitudinal veins and the only one "V" shape cross vein which is between the 5th and 6th vein. The hind wings consist of 9 longitudinal veins and the only one "V" shape cross vein which is mentioned above. 2. The scale types are divided into 4 Groups in its shape. (A) The scales of I Group are short and the lower parts of them almost look like a circle, having a small projection at their bottom. The upper parts of them have 2 or 10 lobes. We can find the lobes with fine hairs or the lobes without them at the top of the scales. (B) The scales of II Group are longer than that of I Group. The shape of the lower parts of the scales is similar to that of I Group. The upper parts of the scales have 2 or 10 lobes. (C) The scales of III Group are long and almost alike in a long wedgeshape. The upper parts of the scales have 2 Or IO lobes and we can find long fine hairs at the top of each lobe. (D) The scales of IV Group are long and the shape of the lower parts of the scales is similar to that of III Group. The lobes are short and not sharp. We can find 2 or 9 lobes. 3. The scales of I Group and II Group are distributed on the whole surface except on the outer margin. The most scales of III Group are distributed on the wing base. The scales of IV Group are distributed on the outer margin only. The scales with 4 or 5 lobes are most widely distributed not considering their Group or distributing parts. 4. In I Group the variation of the scale length become gradually greater as the number of the lobes are increasing. In II, III, IV Group, however, the variation of the scale length is in direct opposition to the above mentioned. The variation of the scale width becomes pretty small in any Groups and the scale width become wider as the number of the lobes are increasing. 5. The source of the wing colouration is pigmnetal colour, and the wing colouration is expressed by the amount of brown and white scales.
The Doowoo-ri tidal flat in the southwestern Korean coast is a typical open-coast tidal flat which has no barriers in the offshore such as barrier island and sand bars. The difference of induced wave energy with seasons is affected directly on the distribution of surface sediment and the formation of sedimentary structures because the sedimentation by wind wave is relatively much important element in this open-coast tidal flat. This open-coast tidal flat can be classified into tidal beach, intertidal flat and lower mudflat according to the pattern of geomorphology and sediment type. The intertidal flat can be again divided into 3 types: sand flat, mixed flat and mud flat based on the primary sedimentary structure and sand/mud ratio. Doowoori tidal flat shows a seasonal change in the surface sedimentary facies based on sediment composition and primary sedimentary structure. The change is closely related to the direction and magnitude of monsoon wind and also to storm frequency. In winter and spring, when northwesterly wind is most dominant and strong and also storms are common, sand-flat facies is largely distributed on the intertidal flat, whereas mud-flat facies is most dominant during summer when weak southeasterly wind is common. In the fall season, mixed-flat facies is dominant on the flat. The Doowoori intertidal flat is covered by mud sediment which is ca. 20 cm in thickness in summer season. In winter season, surface sediment is changed from mud to sand because the summer mud is mostly eroded by strong wave action. Can-core peels in the intertidal flat show that parallel laminated mud or sand/mud and climbing ripple cross-laminated sandy silt are dominant on the upper intertidal flat $(0-1.3 {\cal}km)$ during summer season. On the other hand, on lower intertidal flat $(1.7-2.3 {\cal}km)$, dominant sedimentary facies is homogeneous mud. In winter, it is changed into parallel laminated and ripple cross-laminated sand facies.
The air-center nozzles, being specially designed to supply air into the central part of water stream at seven levels of air volume, were tested for spray deposit pattern and flow-rate at each of the twelve pressure levels ranging from $0.35kg/cm^2$ (5 psi) to $6.33kg/cm^2$ (90 psi) in comparison with those of standard nozzles. The air-center nozzles produced comparatively more stable spray deposit patterns than the standard nozzles. The spray deposit patterns of the air-center nozzle were concentrated gradually in the central region with increase of air volume as a component of spray mixture. The degree of concentration of spray deposit on the central region from the air-center nozzle was higher than that of the standard nozzle, which suggested the possibility of obtaining farther travel distance spraying system at a given performance level. The flow rate of the air-center nozzle was not as much as that of the standard nozzle due to the air within certain limits. The rate of decrease of water flow became smaller with an increase in operating pressure although it changed rapidly in the beginning stage, ranging up to two or three percent of the air flow rate due to the compressive properties of air.
