Urea-formaldehyde (UF) resin was formulated similarly to plywood resin in the laboratory. The synthesized UF resin adhesive was mixed with extender, filler and acid catalyst. The mixture contained 56.1% total solids and 43.9% water. The mixes was used to bond five Com-Ply types using Korean wood species. The Com-Ply made were tested for shear strength and wood failure according to KS F 3101 ordinary plywood as well as for bending strength per KS F 3104 particleboard. The performance test results showed good strength properties for all Com-Ply types made in this study. This result represented that the UF resin adhesive mix was adequate for bonding Com-Ply with domestic wood species.
SBR, polyurethane, acryl and epoxy latex were separately mixed with ethylene -vinylacetate emulsion(EVA) in the range of $0{\sim}50wt%$. For the mixtures, the various physical properties such as defoamerability, mechanical property, and water resistance were experimentally examined. The excellent defoamer was BYK-021 and the appropriate use of it was 0.3 phr for the total components. The shrinkage of compounds was influenced by the compatability of resins and the formation of voids. The mechanical properties was related to the cohesive force of resin particles, the coagulation of cement particles and the co-bonding of resin particles with cement particles. Mixing latex separately showed better properties then non-mixing in the shrinkage ratio, flexural strength, adhesive strength, and impact strength. The water resistance of composites mixed with cement was worse than that of EVA resin.
In this study, the thermo-rheological behaivors of petroleum pitches with different softening points were studied, and a B-stage phenolic resins/petroleum pitches blends were prepared by adding petroleum pitches to the phenolic resins. As a result, the petroleum pitch with different softening points decreased the fluidity of the petroleum pitch as the Quinoline insoluble (QI) content increased and showed the viscous properties of the solid. In addition, the effect of adding petroleum pitches having different softening points on the thermo-rheological properties of phenolic resins was investigated. When petroleum pitch with a high softening point was added, the fluidity of the phenolic resin was reduced, and the hardening behavior was fast. It was possible to control the curing rate and curing behavior of the phenolic resin by adding petroleum pitches of different softening points. Among them, the phenolic resin mixture to which P-Pitch 2 was added has a higher fluidity than other blends under the same curing temperature condition.
The paper presents the field applications and evaluation results of solid epoxy asphalt mixture for steel bridge deck. The material was developed in Japan. The material properties of epoxy asphalt mixture were evaluated through various literature review, and the mix design and mixture evaluation were conducted. According to the research results, the application of epoxy asphalt mixture for steel bridge deck was noticeable compare to the conventional ones. In addition, results from 3D finite element analysis showed that the performance of epoxy asphalt mixture for steel bridge deck was proved to be satisfied. As a result, a pilot test section was constructed using the epoxy asphalt mixture produced from conventional batch plant system. BPT test results showed that friction of the epoxy asphalt mixture was higher than the requirements compare to that of the conventional one.
The water-soluble defoamers were fabricated by the mixing polyol, modified silicon resin, silicon resin and surfactant. For the defoamers, the various properties such as phase-separation time, viscosity and defoamerability were examined. The phase-saparation time of PPG mixtures was found to be PPG 400>PPG 3,000>PPG 1000. When PPG 1000 was mixed, mixtures represented the excellent defoamerability. The phase-saparation time of silicon resin mixtures was TSF-451-350>TSF-451-200>TSF-451-50. As more of high molecular silicon resin was mixed, the resulting mixtues showed reduced defoamerability. When the TSF-451-50 was mixed, the mixture's volume was increased because of the reduction of solubility. The modified silicon resin was smoothly dispersed in water, but the compatibility with PPG was not good. The defoamerability of surfactant was SPAN 20>SPAN 60>SPAN 80. SPAN 80 showed good miscibility for the silicon resin, but not good for YAS 6406 or PPG 1000.

This study evaluated the performance of Korean epoxy asphalt mixtures using several laboratory tests. Four types of epoxy asphalt mixtures were manufactured based on 13mm dense graded asphalt mixtures: three Korean and one Japanese epoxy asphalt mixtures where 20% or 40% of asphalt binder was replaced by epoxy resins. Curing time was determined as 3 and 6 hours for the mixtures containing 40% and 20% of epoxy resins, respectively. From the laboratory tests including wheel tracking, indirect tension fatigue, bending beam, and moisture susceptibility tests, it was concluded that the epoxy asphalt mixtures had superior performance than conventional asphalt mixtures except moisture susceptibility. Also, the performance of the Korean epoxy asphalt mixtures was comparable to the Japanese mixtures. Thermal coefficient, bond strength, and indirect tension tests were conducted to examine the applicability of the Korean epoxy asphalt mixtures to concrete repair. Its adhesion was strong enough to be bonded to surrounding concrete materials and its tensile strength was comparable to the concrete, but thermal expansion coefficient was 5 times greater than the surrounding concrete.
SBR, polyurethane and epoxy latex were separately blended with ethylene-vinyl acetate(EVA) emulsion In $0{\sim}50%$. EVA emulsion was not reacted with latexes in liquid phase and mixtures had good stroage stability. The viscosity of cement mixtures was elevated to 20,000cps in $0.5{\sim}2.0$ hours by mixing. The mixtures mixed with pigment represented high viscosity and showed higher viscosity as time goes by. Mixtures had higher hardness with mixing SBR than mixing epoxy or urethane. The hardness was suddenly increased over cement content 30%. showed pencil hardness $H{\sim}2H$ in $50{\sim}60%$. The increase of hardness in high solids was depended upon not only the condensation of latexs but also the coagulation and adhesion of cement particle.

The curing of epoxy asphalt mixture depends on the chemical reaction of epoxy resin and the curing agent. The curing level of epoxy asphalt mixture needs to be predicted in order to decide traffic opening time and to establish further construction plans. In this study, chemical analysis of the prediction model was executed to expand the applicability of the previous prediction model. Consequently, the curing level prediction model of epoxy asphalt concrete mixture was proposed using the concentration ratio and the acid value ratio. According to the results of outdoor curing experiments, the final prediction model showed that the correlation coefficient is greater than 0.971. Precise prediction results of different composition epoxy asphalt were obtained by reflecting the chemical composition ratios in the curing level prediction model.
