  • This paper deals with 28, 56, 91 days age compressive strength and ratio of weight when OPC and Low-Heat cement mortar immersed in chemical solution. As a result of experiment, the resistance of Low-Heat Cement motar in chemical attack is more effective than that of OPC, because of lower $C_3$A content and Pozzolanic reactions. Especially in long term age compressive strength, Low-Heat cement mortar shows higher strength in all kind of chemical solution compared with compressive strength of OPC motar.

  • The goal of community health nursing courses is to prepare student nurses so that they become able to perform a variety of nursing roles in community. To achieve this goal, programs for community health nursing must develop students' abilities to function independently as community health nurses. This study evaluated the effectiveness of Problem-based Learning(PBL) as a teaching method in programs for community health nursing at four-year colleges of nursing. The subjects of this study were senior students at Y University. The study was designed as a descriptive & comparative survey. To determine the effectiveness of PBL, the author analyzed the process and results of teaching. The PBL teaching method was found to be significantly effective in building critical thinking abilities and increasing knowledge. The results also showed that the 43 students who were taught by both PBL and lecture teaching methods got a significantly higher' knowledge score than the other 28 students who were taught only by lectures. As for the future direction of community health nursing courses, a teaching strategy involving both PBL and lectures is recommended.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the trends in studies published in Journal of Korean Critical Care Nursing (JKCCN) from 2008 to 2013. Methods: A total of 65 studies published between 2008 to 2013 were reviewed using criteria developed by researchers. Results: Approximately 36% of studies were conducted with patients. Intensive care unit (ICU) was the most popular site as the study setting. Among 59 research papers, 42.4% were approved by institutional review board (IRB). Quantitative studies were 78.6%, while qualitative studies were 4.6%. The research designs for the quantitative studies were survey (52.3%), quasi-experimental (16.9%), and so on. There was no randomized controlled trial. The most frequently used methods to provide nursing intervention was education. In addition, "nurse" and "ICU" were most commonly used keyword. Conclusion: Considering the low rate of IRB approval, more stringent application of research ethics is necessary to improve the quality of JKCCN. In addition, more randomized controlled trials should be encouraged to support evidence-based practice in critical care.

  • The purpose of this study was to develop a communication simulation and evaluate its applicability of curriculum of community health nursing for nursing students. This study used one- group pretest-posttest design and participants were 35 junior nursing students. Data was collected through self-reported questionnaires of communicative competence and satisfaction and analyzed using paired-t test and descriptive statistics. There was no change of overall mean score of communicative competence, though the simulation program related to communication of community health nurses was developed and the score of satisfaction after the simulation was 4.4 out of 5. In the categories of communicative competence, the score of role competence was increased after simulation(p<.001) but interpretive competence was decreased(p=.029). And others were not significant changes. As these results, the developed simulation program was applicable to community health nursing course, but further consideration is needed about strategies of simulation to increase communicative competence.

  • Purpose : The purpose of this study was to understand and describe the experiences of the advanced nurse practitioner (APN) system used by healthcare providers including APNs, doctors who worked with APNs, and APN master's course professors at a graduate school. Methods : Qualitative data were collected via snowball sampling. The participants were nine APNs, six doctors, and three professors. They were divided into three focus groups, each of which consisted of all three types of healthcare providers. Data were collected via interviews with the three focus groups conducted from September to October 2019. All interviews were audiotaped and transcribed verbatim. The transcribed data then underwent qualitative content analysis. Results : Based on the data, we extracted four themes and 14 categories. The themes were "Role and system of APNs started according to healthcare environment changes", "Optimal healthcare provider to ensure quality of care", "Confused role and system of APNs due to incomplete medical law", and "Tasks for the stable operation of the APN system." Conclusion : For quality treatment and safety of patients, a legal basis must be established for the APN system. For its stable operation, social consensus regarding legislation about APNs' scope of practice is required. Finally, a discussion is necessary about the integration of APNs' 13 fields.
