A new variety, Hosta clausa Nakai var. geumgangensis M. Kim & H. Jo, was found in Geumgang River in Korea. This variety shares several characteristics (rhizomes with underground stolon, smooth scape and purple-colored anthers) with the $re{\acute{o}}lated$ varieties H. clausa Nakai var. clausa and H. clausa var. normalis F. Maekawa. However, H. clausa var. normalis has open flowers, capsules with seeds, purple-spotted petioles, long pistils, and long narrow perianth tubes, whereas this new variety has open flowers, seedless capsules, green-colored petioles, short pistils, and short narrow perianth tubes. Hosta clausa Nakai var. clausa has closed flowers and seedless capsules.

Hypochondriac pain include pain in one or both side costa portion and lateral abdomen. There are different kinds of flank-related disease such as Hepatitis, cholecystitis, pleuritis, intercostal nerve pain and so on. Hypochondriac pain due to Phlegm Retention arises from pathological abnormal activities. In oriental medicine, Retention of Phlegm and Fluid is a morbid condition due to fluid retention in the stomach and intestines, and Gungha-tang used to treat the disease diagnosed as Retention of Phlegm and Fluid. So, we decided to apply Gungha-tang-gamibang to a patient who suffered from hypochondriac pain diagnosed as Retention of Phlegm and Fluid. Therefore the patient treated with Gungha-tang-gamibang and improved in consciousness symptoms, so we report it for the better treatment.

"Byun Jeung Rok(辨證錄)" is composed of 14 volumes. In relation to the contents, it is organized into 126 gates(門) and 700 remaining syndromes(餘證) where internal medicine, external medicine, pediatrics, gynecology(內科 外科 小兒 婦人), etc. are divided into sub-sections of cold damage, cold stroke, wind stroke(傷寒 中寒 中風), etc. For every syndrome, the symptom, cause of disease, method of treatment, prescription, construction of prescription, instruction of medicine and prognosis.(症狀 病因 治法 處方 處方構成 服用法 預後) were explained thoroughly. This study, as an inquiry of the second volume, deals with wind stroke(中風), impediment disease(痹證), heart pain(心痛), side pain(脇痛), headache(頭痛), abdominal pain(腹痛), lumbago(腰痛) It was written very logically so it is easy to understand. The analysis of the symptoms are brief and appropriate. Also, in the usage of the medicine, the sovereign, minister, assistant and courier(君臣佐使) method was used as the basis for the prescriptions. Therefore, it is considered to have significant clinical value for future generations and is thus being applied by them.

This study was performed on the basis of clinical consideration about patient who has hepatocholangiocarcinoma, and pancreatic cancer. Cancer has gradually increased morbidity and mortality all over the world including Korea. Western medicine has treated with surgical therapy, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and immunotherapy, but has not obtained outstanding results and has a difficulty due to side effects by those therapies. In this study, we recognized that symptom including hypochondriac pain by cancer are rapidly decreased with herbal medication treatment and acupuncture therapy. Oriental medicine treatment is applied throughly on the basis of the oriental medicine principle and the prescriptions were used Naeso-oksultang(內消沃雪湯). According to the above results, we can know this patient has improvement of patient's symptom on administration of oriental medicine treatment, it is helpful in decresing symptoms of patient and in improving quality of life.

Back pains include pain in one or both side costa portion and lateral abdomen. There are different kinds of flank-related disease such as intercostal nerve pain, chronic gastritis, duodenitis, herpes zoster, pepticulcer, cholecystitis, cholelithiasis and so on. Back pain arises from pathological abnormal activities. On the other hand psychogenic pains are caused by psychogenic factors without pathological abnormal activities. This is similar to KiWol back pain, which resulted from psychogenic factors like stress, anxiety, anger and etc. In oriental medicine, KiWol is the state of depression of Ki, and Shihosogansan used to treat the back pain diagnosed as stagnation of the liver Ki. So, we decided to apply Shihosogansan to a patient who suffered from back pain diagnosed as stagnation of the liver Ki. Therefore the patient treated with Shihosogansan and improved in consciousness symptoms, so we report it for the better treatment.

I have come to next conclusions in consequence of documentary study about medical books of many generations regarding Medical treatment with Acupuncture Point of Flank pain. The urinary bladder channel of foot-taiyang is most used. Next there are the ren channel, the gall baldder channel of foot-shaoyang, the liver channel of foot-jueyin, the triple-warmer channel of hand-shaoyang, the kidney channel of foot-shaoyin, the stomach channel of foot-yangming, the spleen channel of foot-taiyin, the pericardium channel of hand-jueyin, the lung channel of hand-taiyin, the small intestine channel of hand-taiyang, the large intestine channel of hand-yangming, the heart channel of hand-shaoyin in the order of frequency in used channel among the twelve channels. The liver channel of foot-jueyin is most used. The gall baldder channel of foot-shaoyang, the urinary bladder channel of foot-taiyang, the triple-warmer channel of hand-shaoyang, the spleen channel of foot-taiyin, the stomach channel of foot-yangming, the ren channel, the small intestine channel of hand-taiyang, the kidney channel of foot-shaoyin, the pericardium channel of hand-jueyin, the large intestine channel of hand-yangming, the lung channel of hand-taiyin, the heart channel of hand-shaoyin in the order of frequency in used point among the twelve channels.

As mentioned above, I have acquired some valuable results about medical treatment with acupuncture and Moxibustion of "Flank pain" after studying oriental medical books. The results were like below : 1. Medical treatment with acupunctures of Flank pain belonged to the Urinary Bladder Meridian of Foot Taiyang, the Liver Meridian of Foot Jueyin, the Gall Bladder Meridian of Foot Shaoyang. 2. Medical treatment with acupunctures of Flank pain used to Yang-laung-chan(陽陵泉), Gi-gu(地溝), Gi-mun(期門), Kan-su(肝兪) in turn. 3. Medical treatment with Ear acupunctures of Flank pain used to Dam(膽), Sin-mun(神門), Gan(肝)in turn. 4. Acupuncture point of Flank pain were lower limb part, chest and abdominal part. back part in turn. 5. Medical treatment with Moxibustion of Flank pain was the most Jang-mun(章門)

This study was to investigate the protective and effects of Ikgukwhan and Ikgukbowhawhan on the liver cirrhosis or fibrosis induced by prolonged bile duct ligation; a new experimental model for cirrhosis and the intraperitoneal injection of dimethylnitrosamine in the rat. The development of fibrosis or cirrhosis and its inhibition by the two prescriptions were examined by the chemical analysis of AST, ALT, and hydroxyproline. The results obtained were as follows. 1. The increase of serum asparate aminotransferase induced by bile ductligation was inhibited by the administration of Ikgukwhan and Ikgukbowhawn extract. 2. The increase of serum alanine aminotransferase induced by bile duct ligation was inhibited by the administration of Ikgukwhan and Ikgukbowhawhan extract. 3. The increase level of serum AST and ALT induced by the intraperitoneal injection of dimethylnitrosamine was inhibited by the administration of Ikgukwhan and Ikgukbowhawhan extract. 4. The increase level of hydroxyproline volume in the damaged liver tissues in the rat was decreased by the oral administration of Ikgukwhan and Ikgukbowhawhan extract. But there were no significant differences in the inhibition rate between the two experimental groups.
