The Effect of 2012 Cosmetics Act Amendment on Product Innovation (2012년 화장품법 개정의 제품혁신 효과)

  • This research aims to empirically investigate the innovative effects of 2012 Cosmetics Act amendment on the cosmetics industry. By utilizing production data from the Korea Food and Drug Administration for the period 2008-2014 and estimating a panel fixed-effects model, the study demonstrates a significant positive correlation between the legislative revision and firm production. Additionally, it is observed that both the number of brands and new products per manufacturer significantly increased following the amendment. Further, this study shows a significant positive correlation between the amendment and the potential market size, with the potential market size positively correlated with innovation. The findings of this study highlight that government regulatory improvements can positively impact industrial innovation and promotion.

Service Innovation in Digital Contents Industry: A Case of Korean Online Games (디지털컨텐츠산업의 서비스혁신 패턴 분석: 온라인게임 사례를 중심으로)

  • The paper presents and empirically tests a model of the digital contents(DC) innovation systems that enables us to study interactions between users, service providers, contents developers and network providers, and to examine the relationship between manufacturing innovation and service innovation as well as patterns of innovation in the DC industry. The framework of Gallouj and Weinstein(1997) and Gallouj(2002) is modified into the DC innovation model according to characteristics of the DC industry, that is, user involvement and network externalities. The model is applied to a case analysis that traces the growth of the online game industry in Korea since its introduction. The model offers several advantages over other approaches in understanding the dynamics in the DC industry. Most importantly, it provides a single unified basis within which both service innovation resulting from users and service providers and manufacturing innovation induced by contents developers, platform holders and network providers are analyzed. The distinction between service and manufacturing innovation is important in many ways, for instance in selecting proper government policy tools for promotion or regulation of the DC industry. Second, the Korean online game industry has experienced both radical innovation during the beginning period and non-radical innovation throughout the maturation period. The model developed herein helps to illustrate several types of non-radical innovations such as recombinative innovation that are crucial to sustainable development of the DC industry. Third, the model clarifies impacts of network externalities that are characteristics of the DC industry.

  • 우리나라의 중소기업은 국가경제의 근간을 이루고 있으며, 고용창출, 기술혁신, 산업의 다양성 등 여러 측면에서 국민경제 발전에 있어서 실질적인 원동력이 되고 있다. 이로 인해 중소기업은 기술혁신을 통해서 혁신역량을 확보하는 것이 더욱더 중요해졌으며, 내부자원의 한계로 인해 경영에 필요한 다양한 정보와 여러 가지 도움들을 외부와의 협업과 다양한 네트워크 활동을 통해 습득해 나가고 있다. 더 나아가서 시장기회를 포착하고 조직 성장을 위한 수단들을 모색하기 위한 수단으로 기업가 정신 또한 필요하다. 본 연구는 ICT중소기업의 기업성과에 영향을 미치는 요인에 있어 기업가 정신과 기업의 혁신역량이 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 알아보고자 했으며, 사회적 자본이 기업가 정신과 기업성과 간의 조절역할을 하는지 살펴보고자 1,200개 기업을 대상으로 실증 분석을 했다. 분석 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 기업가 정신은 기업성과에 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 확인됐으며, 사회적 자본 변수가 기업가 정신과 기업성과 간의 조절효과가 있다는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 둘째, 혁신 역량이 기업성과에 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며, 또한 사회적 자본 변수가 조절효과를 한다는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 이러한 연구 결과를 통해, 기업가 정신이 기업성과에 영향을 미치는데 있어서 사회적 자본이 중요한 역할을 하고 있다는 것을 확인할 수 있었다.

The Impact of Non-technological Innovation on the Performance of Product Innovation (비기술적 혁신이 제품혁신의 성과에 미치는 영향 분석)

  • Using data from 2008 and 2010 Korean Innovation Survey, this study estimates the impacts of non-technological innovation activities on the performance of technological innovation. The study estimates the effects of the two types of innovation, organizational innovation and marketing innovation. The estimation results suggest that both organizational and marketing innovations are closely related to the success of innovative products. In particular, non-technological innovation has significant positive impacts on the share of sales with market novelties. Among individual practices in organizational innovation, only the introduction of new business practices contributes positively to the sales of innovative products. In case of marketing innovation, new marketing methods in product design, product promotion and pricing increase the share of sales from new products.

Effect of the Job Autonomy on Innovative Work Behaviors in China Logistics Industry: Focus on the Moderated Mediation Effect of Perceived Organizational Support (중국 물류산업에서 업무의 자율성이 혁신적 생산 활동에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구: 기업지원인식의 조절된 매개효과를 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study is to clarity the effect of job autonomy, innovative work behaviors and perceived organizational support on organizational performance. To attain this goal, mediation analysis, moderation analysis and moderated mediation analysis were performed. 198 valid questionnaires from China Tianjin City's logistics enterprises were analyzed with SPSS Macro program. The results indicated that: (1) perceived organizational support's moderating effect existed in the relationship between job autonomy and innovative work behaviors, (2) innovative behaviors' mediated effect existed in the relationship between job autonomy and organizational performance, (3) perceived organizational support's moderated mediation effect is existing in the relationship between job autonomy, innovative behaviors and organizational performance. That is to say, the strength of the mediated effect decreased along with levels of perceived organizational support: stronger job autonomy relationship when perceived organizational support was weak.

  • This study suggests external knowledge search as a way of creating knowledge and efforts for reaching out to the innovation and examines the relationship between innovation speed and the breadth and depth of external knowledge search. As a part of efforts to overcome the limitations of the routines of external knowledge search in the domestic market, the efforts of a firm to enter the foreign market have been examined with a moderate effect. Although previous research focused on exploration of external knowledge that is mostly effected in single country or similar industry, this study expands it by introducing the concept of market expansion and empirically inspect the interaction effect. 818 valid samples used in this study are based on the innovation survey published by STEPI and empirical results are as follows. First, the breadth and depth of external knowledge search have a positive impact on innovation speed. Second, export performance as the effect of expanding the market has a moderating effect on the speed of innovation. Third, younger companies prefer various networks while older companies prefer depth networks in order to increase the speed.

Development of a Research Tool to Analyze the Educational Effect of School Space Innovation (학교공간혁신의 교육효과 분석을 위한 조사도구 개발)

  • This study was conducted to develop a tool to investigate and analyze the educational effect of the school space innovation project, which is being promoted on a large scale at the national level. In order to analyze the educational effect of school space innovation, it is first necessary to analyze the structure of the space altered by the school space innovation. Research and analysis should be possible, so a user survey tool was developed for this purpose. It is expected that the survey tool in this study can be used for pre-investigation in the pre-planning stage of the school space innovation project and as a post-evaluation tool for investigating and analyzing the educational effects of space innovation.

스마트TV 서비스 혁신에 따른 시장 전망 : 파괴적 혁신(Disruptive Innovation) 이론을 근간으로

  • 본고에서는 스마트TV 혁신이 가져오는 시장의 변화를 전망하기 위해 '파괴적 혁신 이론' 과 애플 사례를 논의한 후, 스마트TV 혁신이 시장에 미치는 영향을 제작 유통 시스템, 시장규모 측면으로 나누어 분석하였다. 스마트TV는 '폐쇄형'을 '개방형' 시스템으로 전환, 유통/제작자간 관계를 개선하고, 개방형 채널 및 VOD 도입으로 4년 후 전체 방송시장이 14조 9,800억 원으로 성장하고, 개방형 IPTV로 인한 확대금액만 약 4,623억 원으로 전망되며, 방송시장 매출액 중 PP 차지 비중도 2013년 44.1%까지 1.7%포인트 확대, 직접 창출되는 일자리는 4년간 약 4,676개로 추정된다. 이의 생산유발효과는 2조 3,995억 원, 부가가치 유발효과는 1조 260억 원으로 예측되었다. 또한, 스마트TV 전체에서 도입을 예정하고 있는 TV앱스토어도 4년간 3,606억 원의 누적수익을 창출하며, 직접 창출되는 일자리는 약 2,322개, 생산유발 효과는 6,681억 원, 부가가치유발효과는 3,226억 원, TV앱스토어와 초기투자에 의해 기대되는 소프트웨어 시장고용확대 효과는 누적 3,586개로 예측되었다.

Employment Effects of Workplace Innovation (작업장혁신의 고용효과)

  • This study carries out an empirical analysis of how workplace innovation affects employment growth. The theoretical model and hypotheses of this study are drawn from the previous research on the employment effects of innovation. I use the data on Workplace Innovation Indicators(2013-14) collected by Labor Foundation. As the regression models for this study, I adopt OLS models whose dependent variable is employment growth rate, and whose main independent variables are the adoption and the intensity(standardized values) of three innovative work practices such as TQM, employee suggestion plans and multi-skill training programs. The results of this study indicate that the adoption of workplace innovation does not have significant effects on employment growth, but that the intensity of workplace innovation has weakly positive effects on employment growth. Besides, the results of this demonstrate show that government-subsided organizational innovation consulting and training hours per capita have positive employment effects, but that wage level and prior employment size have negative ones. Finally the empirical results are outlined, and their limitations and the future direction of research on this topic are discussed.
