Diffraction Effects of Parabolic Mild-Slope Equations in the Shadow Zone behind a Detached Breakwater (이안제 배후 차폐역에서 포물선형 완경사방정식의 회절효과)

  • The purpose of this study is to observe the applicability of parabolic mild-slope equations allowing relatively large angles of wave propagation based on the use of a Pade approximant or minimax approximation and also the applicability of the models with nonlinearity of diffracted waves in the shadow zone behind coastal structures. To accomplish these objectives, numerical solutions are obtained from the above parabolic models and are compared with the results from Watanabe and Maruyama's(1984) hydraulic model test on the wave field with an impermeable detached breakwater. From this study, it is found that computed wave heights increase for the nonlinear results in comparison to the linear results due to the increased diffraction effect across the geometric shadow boundary. The model with a larger aperture with respect to the principal direction was found to spread laterally to a much greater degree where spreading angle (diffraction effect) is relatively large. which causes a distortion in the overall results due to the error accumulated by the approximation of wave length.

Thermal Design and Analysis for Two-Axis Gimbal-Type X-Band Antenna of Compact Advanced Satellite (차세대 중형위성용 2축 짐벌식 X-밴드 안테나의 열설계 및 궤도 열해석)

  • A two-axis gimbal-type X-band antenna for CAS(Compact Advanced Satellite) transmits large amount of image data to ground station regardless of satellite attitude and orbital motion. This antenna mounted on the external surface of the satellite is directly exposed to the extreme space with thermal environment during the orbital operation. Therefore, a proper thermal design is needed to maintain the antenna itself as well as other main components within allowable temperature range. In this study, the thermal design effectiveness of two-axis gimbal X-band antenna was verified through the thermal analysis. In addition, required power and duty cycle of heater were estimated through the thermal analysis under conditions of system level thermal vacuum test and on-orbit thermal environment. The thermal analysis results indicated that all the main components of X-band antenna satisfy the allowable temperature requirement.

  • Even though a rough diamond shape is irregular and rugged, it is easy to be processed to make gem, shaped facets (table, crown, pavilion and girdle) were precisely treated because they influence on the evaluation of diamond grading. Those specifications suitable for the standard round brilliant cut diamond polishing were investigated and in 95 % statistical confidence interval, standard deviation, mean and acceptable tolerance were examined. According to these variables (size, angle, depth, and thickness) distribution, the frequency analysis of ratings and proportions were compared with each other. The correlation between each variables and the evidence of influence represented in proportion were determined by the regression analysis applying LSM (Least Square Method). In this research, it was recognized that table sizes of the diamond jewels and pavilion depth (in %) influence the rating decision and in particular, the depth of pavilion acting as the main factor of proportions, also plays an important role in optical phenomena.

  • Wi-Fi Direct standard technology(Wi-Fi Peer to Peer Technical Specifications v1.2, 2010) was designed for allowing peer to peer communication between two or more devices and various products which have been currently manufactured such as smart phone and smart TV have already provided this technical function. In this technology the role of Coordinator in Wi-Fi infrastructure would be matched to GO(Group Owner) which needs relatively high energy resource and computation power due to the high probability for allowing 3rd-party connection, however, the current standard specification would be limited in terms of energy distribution because it has not included a process to determine the role of GO. To address above problem, this paper classified considerable parameters into the general parameters for the physicality of devices and the specific parameters for considering the role position depending on use-case scenario, and proposed a new method called DIVA to help efficiently determining GO role from the member devices of Wi-Fi Direct network. Furthermore the effect of this mechanism was proved via simulation-based experiments.

  • This study proposes a path generation technique for simultaneous five-axis driving for ball bar measurement, which is equivalent to cone frustum machining as mentioned in the NAS979 standard. The technique is generalized for a 3D circular path, and it is applicable to all machine tools regardless of their structural configurations. A mathematical machine input model that consists of a five-axis machine tool, ball-bar measurement and conical path information as inputs is presented for easy NC code generation, simulation for various test conditions, and a measurement test. The movement range of rotary axes, which depends on various conditions, is mathematically analyzed based on the proposed conical path model. Moreover, the effect of the movement range on various conditions (apex angle and inclination angle, ball bar tilting acceptance angle, offset position of workpiece ball, etc.) is analyzed.

Suggestions through exploring the relationship between Cadets' Motivation to use SNS and Life Satisfaction (사관생도의 SNS이용 동기와 생도 생활만족도와의 관계 탐색을 통한 제언)

  • We attempted to confirm the current status of the use of mobile phones by soldiers, especially SNS, in today's situation where the use of mobile phones is completely allowed, and to reach an agreement for the use of functional SNS in military life. To this end, 189 students at the Korea Army Academy at Yeongcheon were measured for SNS use motivation and life satisfaction, and the relationship between each sub-variable of SNS use motivation and satisfaction was analyzed. As a result, 3 out of 4 motives for using SNS had nothing to do with satisfaction, and rather, among the sub-variables, the pursuit of status showed a negative correlation with satisfaction. Therefore, the use of SNS to search for information or ideas should be encouraged. In addition, these findings prove that the vague belief that allowing SNS will increase the satisfaction of soldiers is not reasonable, suggesting that a careful approach is required to utilize functional SNS in the military.

Consecutive transition limited code for high-density magnetic recording channel (고밀도 자기기록 채널을 위한 연속적인 천이의 제한을 갖는 코드)

  • The modulation code with the limitation of consecutive transition length is a type of channel codes in high-density magnetic recording channel. When code sequence has two or less successive transitions, the detection performance of channel outputs can be improved. However, the code rate is reduced considerably. We present a rate 7/8 nut-length limited (RLL) code that consecutive transition length of each codeword is limited to 2 (j=2), and j is allowed to be 3 when codewords are connected. In addition, the consecutive zeros of the proposed code is limited to 7 (k=7).

  • 일반적으로 화력발전소는 원활한 원료 및 냉각수의 공급과 환경적인 요인으로 인해 내륙보다는 해안에 위치하고 있다. 발전소의 안정성을 확보하기 위해서는 고열의 발전기를 냉각하는 냉각설비들이 반드시 필요하며 이를 위해 취수로를 통한 냉각수의 원활한 공급이 이루어져야 한다. 이러한 냉각수 공급은 대용량 펌프에 의해 이루어지며, 취수로 구조물의 형상 및 냉각수의 흐름조건에 따라 성능과 수명이 좌우된다. 특히 해안에 위치하는 지리적 여건상 직접취수가 많으며 이러한 경우 유사가 취수로에 유입되어 펌프 흡입 시 균열과 임펠러 마모 등을 유발시켜 펌프의 안전에 악영향을 미치게 된다. 따라서 취수로에 유사의 퇴적을 유도하는 침사지를 설계하게 되며 Hydraulic Institute Standards(1998)에서는 허용설계유속을 0.2 m/s 이하로 정하고 있다. B 발전소는 직경 3 m의 대형 취수관로 3개를 통해 매우 빠른 유속으로 취수로에 유입되는 냉각수 계통 구조물을 가지고 있어 침사지 내 유속이 허용기준을 초과하였다. 본 연구에서는 침사지내 유속을 만족시키기 위해 다양한 에너지 소산 구조물 설계방안을 제시하였다. 각 설계방안에 따른 흐름 특성 및 유속 분포를 파악하고 common bay 내에서의 난류특성을 분석하여 비교.검토하였다. 수리모형실험 결과를 통해 각각의 설계방안에 따른 침사지의 효율을 평가하였으며 최적의 에너지 소산 구조물에 대한 설계방안을 제안하였다.

  • 과학기술위성3호의 주탑재체 Multi-purpose Infra-Red Imaging System(MIRIS)는 한국천문연구원이 개발하고 있는 소형 적외선 우주망원경이다. MIRIS는 적외선 센서의 열잡음을 최소화시키기 위하여 망원경의 온도가 허용범위를 넘지 않도록 설계되었다. 특히 3K의 심우주를 향해 MIRIS의 복사열을 자연 방출하는 Passive cooling은 임무 성공에 영향을 미치는 매우 중요한 과정이다. 이를 검증하고자 NX 7.0(Space Systems Thermal, TMG 탑재)을 사용하여 열 해석을 수행하였다. 각 부품별로 물성과 열광학 특성을 적용하여 전도 및 복사를 통한 열전달 과정을 계산하였고, MIRIS의 궤도 특성을 고려하여 정상상태에서의 망원경 온도를 얻었다. 그 결과 Passive cooling을 통해 MIRIS 망원경이 허용범위 아래로 냉각되는 것을 확인하였다.

Study on Mounting Status of Trial Case Lenses (검안렌즈의 장착상태에 대한 연구)

  • Purpose: In this study, the mounting status of trial case lens was investigated. Methods: We measured distances between geometric center of lens mount and optical center of lens and angle deviations between axis mark on lens and real axis using arbitrary trial case lens sets distributed in Korea, and then, compared those results with international standards. Results: In some of lenses, the prismatic power on geometric center of lens mount and the angle deviations between axis mark and real axis of cylindrical lens were out of tolerance according international standards. Conclusions: The more precise control of the manufacturing process and more thorough quality control for trial case lenses will be required to offer an accurate vision test.
