  • The purpose of this study was to develop picture testing instrument for measuring children's causal reasoning ability on events that can occur in daily life. The measurement instrument contains three domain of human development; haman behavior domain, human psychology domain, and natural/physical domain. Through this study, researchers designed a concept model based on theoretical framework and prior studies and investigated the reliability and validity of the measurement instrument which was developed in accordance with the concept model. For the empirical validation research, a pretest was conducted to 336 elementary school students in grade 2 to 4 in Seoul. Considering reliability and validity of the developed measurement instrument and factor loadings, researchers sorted out 18 questions. And then 18 question test and KICE Critical Thinking Ability Test was conducted to 509 elementary school students in grade 1 to 4 in Seoul. According to the result of the tests, the researchers sorted out final 12 questions. The Cronbach's alpha, reliability of the children's causal reasoning ability test consisted of the final 12 question, was significant as .72. Also, the result of exploratory factor analysis showed that factors of this test were haman behavior domain, human psychology domain, and natural/physical domain. Moreover, the correlation between the KEDI Reasoning Ability Test(2003) scores and the scores of the test developed in the current study was significant as .55. Finally, the result of the analysis about children's grade differences, the development by discrepancy of age was significant in total points and that of each domain. The children's causal reasoning ability test developed by this study can be useful not only for the evaluation of children's thinking ability but also for screening of the handicapped children in thinking ability development.

  • Purpose : To identify the correlation between CBS and pencil and paper test, and to test the sensitivity of above tests about unilateral neglect. Mostly used tool of pencil and paper test is line bisection and albert test. CBS is behavioral neglect test. Methods : The subjects of study were 44 stroke patients with left hemiplegia. Data were analyzed for Pearson correlation, paired t-test and ANOVA using SPSS program. The significance level was ${\alpha}<.01$. Results : The results of the study was as follow: 1. CBS had a significant correlation of line bisection and Albert test. 2. CBS was more sensitive than the pencil and paper in unilateral neglect. 3. CBS had high correlations with ADL than the pencil and paper test. Conclusion : The result showed that CBS was more useful than a pencil and paper test to distinguish unilateral neglect and available to diagnose anosognosia. Therefore, it should be considered applying CBS to inspect and cure unilateral neglect.

Methods : Fifty mothers were recruited through their offspring's evaluation or treatment for offspring's problematic behaviors. Psychological tests battery including Korean Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale and the Korean Educational Development Institute-Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children was administered to all mothers and their offspring. Mothers completed Korean version of Child Behavior Checklist (K-CBCL), and teachers completed Teacher's Report Form (TRF). On the basis of the maternal depression, the mothers were divided into two groups. Results : 1) Among the fifty mothers, $42\%$ of the mothers had depressive disorder, $16\%$ had anxiety disorder, and $42\%$ had no psychiatric disorder. 2) Depressed mothers rated significantly higher in aggressive behaviors, externalizing problems of K-CBCL in their children. 3) Children of depressed mothers had lower score in picture arrangement and coding subtests of KEDI-WISC than those of no psychiatric disorder mothers. 4) After controlling for the total problematic behavior scores of TRF, mother's depression is positively correlated with aggressive behaviors, externalizing problems, total problematic behaviors of K-CBCL, and negatively correlated with coding of KEDI-WISC. Conclusion : Children's aggressive behavior, externalizing behavior, total problematic behaviors and low coding score may be associated with mother's depression.

Behavioral changes are assessed with parent's and teacher's ratings. Drug effects on attention. short-term memory, and impulsivity are evaluated with psychological tests in laboratory. The changes were assessed twice in a 8-week periods. The data were analyzed seperately for 15 subjects each drug using repeated measured analysis of variance(ANOVA). The findings indicates that behavioral and cognitive impairments are improved by both drugs, but impulsivity is not. And MPH is superior to IMI on the improvement of attentional problem ; especially the findings indicates important differences between simple task and complex. perceptual-search task. These data confirm the effectiveness of MPH for treatment of ADHD, also raise questions regarding assessment method of attention and impulsivity as fell as importance of impulsivity in ADHD.
