Hydrodynamic Response Analysis of Hybrid Floating Structure according to Length of Damping Plate (수평감쇠판 길이에 따른 하이브리드 부유식 구조물의 거동 특성 분석)

  • New businesses such as marine leisure and floating construction have recently flourished on the coast. As a result, consideration is given to a floating structure appropriate for marine environments. In this study, we applied a damping plate to increase the stability of a hybrid floating structure that was expanded by vertical and horizontal stacking of mobile unit modules. In the numerical analysis using ANSYS AQWA, the behavioral characteristics of the floating structure were analyzed according to the length change of the damping plate. However, the wave forces acting on a floating structure are excessively calculated by the resonance of fluid surrounded by the structure in the numerical analysis using potential flow. Therefore, we used the damping zone option of the ANSYS AQWA in the frequency domain analysis.

Study on Physical Oceanographic Environments in the Coastal Sea of Chung-Moon, Cheju Island (제주도 중문 연안역의 물리해양환경에 대한 연구)

  • Physical oceanographic environments in the coastal sea of Chung-Moon located in the south coast of Cheju Island, Korea, where water pollutions by growing tourism complex possibly start to influence on the ecological system, are studied with hydrographic data observed monthly during July 1997 to June 2000. Winter and summer characteristics are shown in December to April and June to October, respectively, and transitional characteristics are shown in May and November. Waters show 14{\sim}16^{\circ}C$ and 34${\sim}$34.7 psu in winter and $15{\sim}27^{\circ}C$ and 32${\sim}$34.3 psu in summer. It tells that Tsushima water distributes in the whole column in winter and in the lower layer in summer, and Yangtze coastal water appears in the surface water in summer. When the influence of Yangtze coastal water is strong, salinities below 30psu are shown. Stratification is formed in the depth of about 20 m from June to October, so that it is not shown in the near shore stations, of which the depth is about10 m. Isotherms and isohalines sometimes tend to be perpendicular to the coast line in the surface, which seems to show influences from the steam power plant near St. 1 and the sewage disposal plant near St. 3. During the observation period, temperatures in St. 1 are a little higher than those in St. 2 and St. 3 except for a couple of months in summer and salinities in St. 3 are mostly a little lower than those in St. 1 and St. 2. Their effects seem to be no more than $0.4^{\circ}C$ in a distance of 300 m and no more than 0.1 psu within a distance of 30 m.

  • The land area, which is on the inner side of the water line, is controlled to a certain degree due to the purposes of space utilities controllers' respective roles, but the sea area is not so much controlled as the land area. However, as interest in the security and utility of the marine space, as well as that in the consistent development of the land space, has increased, there has been increase of the requirement for information about marine data and environment. The object of this study, Busan, plays various roles such as a harbor and bay, a tourist resort, and a port unlike coastal seas of other areas, and thus needs systematic control because it has numerous environmental factors. However, there are limitations in the number of data about Busan coastal sea constantly provided while the acquisition of data from main points and many areas is important for the analysis of marine contamination in Busan coastal sea area. Thus, using nautical charts with numerical values in preparing increase of the demand of them according to the degree of information requirement for the analysis of the changes in coastal areas, this study constructs property data and space data by combining vertex data about Busan's 17 coastal sea areas provided by NFRDI, and tries to present the analytical techniques for grasping the environmental conditions and continuity of the coastal areas and methods of their utilities, using GIS Geostatistical Analysis Technique.

Methodology for Selection and Sensitivity Index of Socio-economic Resources for Marine Oil Spill Incidents (해양 유류유출 오염으로 인한 사회·경제적 민감자원 선정 및 지수화 방안)

  • Marine oil spill accidents are occurring continuously due to the marine transportation of the oil. While building a preventive system for oil spill is uttermost necessary, we also need to have a systematic response system to handle the oil spills that inevitably occur. So far, studies have focused on the environmentally sensitive resources affected by oil spills. However, there is a need to conduct research to evaluate the damage to the socially and economically sensitive resources that make up the life of local residents. This study represents the process of building an analytical framework for the assessment of socioeconomic resources affected by marine oil spills. While it is important to provide a scheme for identification and indexation of socially and economically sensitive resources that is compatible with Korea's situations, using existing data for identifying socio-economically sensitive resources might also be meaningful. However, to allow accurate analysis for better evaluation, we need to select more applicable data among the various indicators. In this research, we have reviewed many existing case studies of sensitive resources, studies of the variables that have been used for indexing sensitive resources, and various factors considered in SIA (Social Impact Assessment). Based on the findings, we classify socio-economically sensitive resources into marine products acquisition, population, land usage, administrative area, and cultural heritage and tourist region.

  • The purpose of this study was to propose a measure for eco-cultural regeneration by a detailed examination of closed down schools, old defective residences, deteriorated industrial facilities and space no long in use located throughout Ijak-do. The reserch method utilized a selection of the major elements from the eco-cultural regeneration element of island regions and a measure for application and regeneration on the deteriorated facilities of Ijak-do was proposed.

  • A complex maritime resort combined marina and with course of Korea is required to improve international tourism competitiveness by taking advantage of her environmental favorable circumstances. The development of tourism, however, is focused on land-oriented that incurred lower tourism efficiency and international tourism competitiveness. In addition, the regulation of "Preliminary environmental assessment for golf courses" by the Ministry of Environment is emphasized on land geography and geology that can cause damage of tourist attractions in an island region. In particular, the development of 6th or 7th ridges in mountainous island region within 2km from the sea, that holds scenic and academic value, can go against environment-friendly by geographical and geological damage. According to the regulation for consultation for golf courses and forestry is to preserve regional ecosystem over 6th ridge, but it cannot be applicable to island region because that can form excessive slopes where marine ecosystem is required to be maintained. It, therefore, can be desirable that the development of over 6th ridge in an island region. It is suggested that continuous comparative studies of geographical and geological characteristics between land and island region will be carried on to establish feasible and reasonable development model so that balanced development of land and island, and versatile international environment-friendly maritime resort can be achieved and developed.

  • 본 연구에서는 하천부터 하구까지의 댐 구조물 건설로 인해 해안으로의 표사 공급원이 감소하는 것을 정량적으로 검토하였다. 내륙과 해양의 전이역인 연안은 농수산업, 임해산업단지, 발전소 및 항만과 같은 산업 인프라, 관광 및 레크리에이션 등의 다양한 편익을 제공하여 높은 경제 사회 환경적 가치가 있다. 그러나 80년대 이후 무분별하게 추진되어온 각종 연안 개발은 직 간접적인 해안의 침식문제를 발생시켰다. 우리나라 서해의 경우 하천으로부터의 토사 유입 차단은 심각한 수준이다. 아직 그 영향이 해안으로 완전히 파급되지 못하여 그로 인한 장기 해안 침식이 두드러지지 않고 있으나 고파랑에 의한 빈번한 침식과 저질의 세립화 현상을 통하여 현재 진행형임을 알 수 있다. 그러나 일단 피해가 심각해지기 시작하면 돌이킬 수 없는 재앙이 될 측면도 많다. 따라서 우리나라 유역의 개발과 수리구조물 건설 현황을 살펴 이로 인한 해안 침식 결과가 얼마나 심각할 수 있는 지를 살펴본다. 본 연구에서는 수리구조물로 인한 토사량 감소 중 가장 주요한 토사 공급원 감소 원인인 댐으로 인한 토사량 감소율에 대한 연구를 진행한다. 먼저 각 댐의 건설 전, 유역면적당 토사량과 댐 건설 후, 해안 유입 토사량 사이에 감소율을 계산하고, cascade 방법에 의하여 댐군에 의한 토사감소율을 산정한다. 유입 토사량 감소율을 산정하고 토사 공급원 감소로 인한 표사 수지 분석을 통해 해안 침식 폭의 위험도 평가를 실시한다.

Some Thoughts on the Issues and Improvement Strategies for Coastal Zone Safety through Field Survey-Safety Standards (실태조사를 통한 연안역 안전의 문제점 및 개선방향에 관한 소고-안전기준)

  • Recently, the risk of safety accidents in the coastal zone has been increased due to revitalization of marine leisure and tourism. The effective measures, however, to prevent safety accidents in the coastal zone have not taken with increasing rate of the accidents. The nature of land and sea should be taken into account properly when the countermeasures to prevent the safety accidents in the coastal zone are devised, since the characteristics of land and sea are mixed in the environmental condition of the coastal zone. Through the field survey, this study analyzes the current problems on the safety in the coastal zone. Also, it suggests the future direction of the safety standards in the coastal zone on the basis of the safety improvement direction in the coastal zone.

Study on the Risk Assessment of Collision Accidents Between Island Bridge and Ship Using an Image Processing Method (영상처리기법을 활용한 연도교와 선박간의 충돌사고 위험성 평가에 관한 연구)

  • Tourism projects through islands in the waters of Sinan-gun became active, and as a result, a total of 13 marine bridges connecting islands were completed. However, the marine bridge constructed in the fairway is dangerous for traffic. Particularly, in the case of the marine bridge connecting two islands, the width of the fairway is extremely narrow, therefore the risk is higher. In this study, we evaluated the risk of collision between marine bridge piers and ships using the IALA Waterway Risk Assessment Program (IWRAP), a risk assessment model for port waterways, based on a maritime traffic survey on the coastal bridge in Sinan-gun. The results, indicated that No.1 Sinan bridge had the highest probability of collision and most of the transit ships were coastal passenger ships. In addition, No.1 Sinan bridge was the place where the most collision accidents occurred among the marine bridge piers in the target sea, and the cause this study was analyzed. An analysis of the satellite images of the sea environment of No.1 Sinan bridge using an image processing method, confirmed that obstacles that could not be seen in the chart existed nearby the bridge. As a result, traffic was observed to be concentrated in one direction, unlike two-way traffic, which is a method of inducing traffic of bridges to avoid obstacles. The risk cause analysis method using the image processing technique of this study is expected to be used as a basic research method for analyzing the risk factors of island bridge in the future.

Assessment of Wave Change considering the Impact of Climate Change (기후변화 영향을 고려한 파랑 변화 평가)

  • According to the climate change scenarios, the intensity of typhoons, a major factor in Korea's natural disaster, is expected to increase. The increase in typhoon intensity leads to a rise in wave heights, which is likely to cause large-scale disasters in coastal regions with high populations and building density for dwelling, industry, and tourism. This study, therefore, analyzed observation data of the Donghae ocean data buoy and conducted a numerical model simulation for wave estimations for the typhoon MAYSAK (202009) period, which showed the maximum significant wave height. The boundary conditions for wave simulations were a JMA-MSM wind field and a wind field applying the typhoon central pressure reduction rate in the SSP5-8.5 climate change scenario. As a result of the wave simulations, the wave height in front of the breakwater at Sokcho port was increased by 15.27% from 4.06 m to 4.68 m in the SSP5-8.5 scenario. Furthermore, the return period at the location of 147-2 grid point of deep-sea design wave was calculated to increase at least twice, it is necessary to improve the deep-sea design wave of return period of 50-year, which is prescriptively applied when designing coastal structures.
