The seed characteristics of Withania somnifera were studied using light and scanning electron microscopy in order to determine the specific features of this species. The seed color is yellow, and the seed shape is reniform measuring between two to three millimeters. The seed of W. somnifera is exarillate and albuminous. The seed coat type is exotestal. The seed coat develops from a single integument. The young seed coat consists of single-layered exotesta, multi-layered mesotesta and single-layered endotesta. However, parenchymatous mesotesta layers are completely compressed at maturity. Therefore, the seed coat was represented by sclerenchymatous exotesta. The primary sculpture on the seed surface is reticulate, and cells are irregular in shape with undulating anticlinal walls. In addition, the seed surface has several characteristic holes between the anticlinal walls.
Despite of the development of medical equipments and technology. Pancreatic cancer has maked high false positive rate and low survival rate compared to other cancers. Therefore, early catch of pancreatic cancer is the only way to enhance the viability. It is important to find the exact location of the pancreas cancer in early stage. The method of optimum scan for early detection of pancreatic cancer on PET/CT exam is proposed. Examined the anatomical region that potentially can be missing from the supine position of ordinary pet/ct exam. The characteristics and usefulness of angle variation ($0^{\circ}$, $30^{\circ}$, $45^{\circ}$, $60^{\circ}$, $90^{\circ}$) of patients scan position is analyzed. The proposed scan method (named JJ-projection) is bringing advantage of anatomical discrimination by separating stomach, liver, gallbladder duodenum and pancreas. ROC curve analysis is shows to advantage of the JJ-Projection method. The sensitivity has increased 4.6% than the supine delay scan method, the results sensitivity has increased from 91% to 95.2%. The specificity has increased from 75.1% to 84%. Compared with the results observed in cancer by biological biopsy, The accuracy has increased from 86.8% to 94.1%.
Compression, lateral, and opposite woods in a branch of Pinus parviflora S. et Z. were described and compared in the qualitative anatomical aspects through light and scanning electron microscopy. Tracheid transition from earlywood to latewood in the compression wood appeared to be relatively more gradual than in the opposite or lateral wood. Growth ring width and proportion of latewood were thought to be greater in the compression wood than in the lateral or opposite wood. The latewood tracheids of compression wood in transverse surface were mostly round, differently from those of lateral and opposite woods with square to angular shapes. Also, intercellular spaces, helical cavities and checks, and slit-like pit apertures were observed only in the compression wood tracheids. Cross-field pitting in the compression wood appeared not to be used as diagnostic guide because of their severe alteration from normal fenestriform or window-like type to cupressoid to taxodioid types. In tangential surface, fusiform rays in the compression wood were wider but lower than those in the lateral wood or opposite wood. In conclusion, compression wood was different from lateral and opposite woods but lateral and opposite woods were almost identical in qualitative anatomical features.
Rapid technology growth of hardware have brought about development and expansion of various digital motion pictured information including 3-Dimension. 3D digital techniques can be used to be diversity in Animation, Virtual-Reality, Movie, Advertisement, Game and so on. 3D characters in digital motion picture take charge of the core as to communicate emotions and information to users through sounds, facial expression and characteristic motions. Concerns about 3D motion and facial expression is getting higher with extension of frequency in use and range about 3D character design. In this study, the facial expression can be used as a effective method about implicit emotions will be studied and research 3D character's facial expressions and muscles movement which are based on human anatomy and then try to find effective method of facial expression. Finally, also, study the difference and distinguishing between 2D and 3D character through the preceding study what I have researched before.
The objective of this study is to examine the characteristics of historical papers and cloths found at Neunggasa temple, Goheunggun, Chonnam Province, Korea, using light microscopy, image analysis and SEM-EDS for fiber morphology and trace metal composition. All papers were made from paper mulberry. Transparent membrane, which was separated from bast fiber, was unique in these fibers. The papers found on the wall of Daewungjun were most highly degraded and those of the books, which were excavated under Cheungwangmun, were relatively well preserved. The cloths found under the statue 'Dong-bangjiguk' were silk, very narrow fiber without any marks. In the analysis of SEM-EDS, high content of silica was detected. Also small content of calcium was taken into consideration. Content of iron and chlorine were discussed from the viewpoint of potentially harmful elements for the conservation of paper. The composition of trace elements could not be used to determine the origins of papers.
Spermatozoa of Aphyocypris chinensis was studied by transmission electron microscopy. The investiation revaled that, spermatozoa display a round head, a small midpiece and a long tail region. In the spermatozoa, the nucleus contains highly condensed homogeneous chromation with small electron lucent areas. The base of the nucleus is slightly invaginated laterally by the nuclear fossa which contains the proximal centriole. The two centrioles orientated at an obtus angle (130°) to each other. The midpiece encircles the flagellum and is completely separated from it by the cytoplasmic channel. The midpiece contains more than 12 mitochondria. The mitochondria are arranged in 4~5 layer and are asymmetrically distributed in the postnuclear cytoplasm. The mitochondria surround the proximal part of the flagellum. The flagellum has classical 9+2 axoneme and no lateral fins. The spermatozoa of A. chinensis are similar to those of other cyprinids having a spherical head with a shallow nuclear fossa, a short midpiece including the asymmetrical arrangement of mitochondria and the lateral insertion of flagellum. However, there are some differences in the orientation of centrioles and the number of the mitochondria.
The present study aimed to obtain basic knowledge of a customized artificial joint based on the convergence research of Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine(DICOM) and 5-axis machining technology. In the case of the research method, three-dimensional modeling was generated based on the medical image of the humerus bone, and the shape was machined using a chemical wood material. Then, the anatomical characteristics and the modeling machining computation times were compared. The results showed that the Stereolithography (STL) modeling required twice more time for semi-finishing and 10 times more time for finishing compared to the Initial Graphics Exchange Specification(IGES) modeling. For the 5-axis machining humerus bone, the anatomical structures of the anatomic neck, greater tubercle, lesser tubercle, and intertubercular groove were similar to those in the three-dimensional medical image. In the future, the convergence machining technology, where 5-axis machining of various structures(e.g., the surgical neck undercut of the humerus bone) is performed as described above, can be efficiently applied to the manufacture of a customized joint that pursues the precise model of a human body.
International efforts to prevent illegally logged wood are expanding around the world. The "Legal Wood Trade Promotion System" was enacted in Korea in 2019 to strengthen the legal import and distribution of commercial wood in Korea. Since then, this system has promoted and ensured that the imported wood and wood products are legal with respect to the country of origin, wood species, and harvested area. As verification methods, DNA analysis technology and anatomical analysis using a microscope are mainly used in conjunction. Therefore, in this study, wood species of plywood were identified by analyzing the anatomical characteristics of various wood products for the first time. Douglas fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii (Mirb.) Franco.) and larch (Larix kaempferi (Lamb.) Carriere) plywoods (7, 9 ply) were obtained from four companies that supply plywood in Korea. After cutting each company's plywood to a size of about 1 cm3, the layers from top to bottom were separated into single layers, and three sections were observed using an optical microscope. The results revealed that the plywood was composed of a mixture of softwood and hardwood wood species, pine wood species, poplar wood species, or a mixture of larch and pine wood species. Identification of wood species using microscopy is important and can enable the scientific analysis and verification of various wood products, including plywood, imported from countries where the likelihood of indiscriminate distribution of illegal wood and illegal logging is high.
Leaf anatomical study of Pinus thunbergii collected from 12 different coastal regions of Korea was conducted to understand the adaptive variation on leaf traits. Basic anatomical features are typical pine needle type with fibrous epidermis, 2-3 layered hypodermis, sunken stomata, monomorphic mesophyll, and well-represented bundle sheath. The bundle sheath surrounds a couple of vascular bundle separated by parenchyma bands. On the basis of their position, the resin ducts are of three types; external, medial and internal of the bundle sheath. The total number of resin ducts in all samples varies from 4 to 12. The stomata were found on stomatal bands throughout the leaf surface. Important dissimilarities observed on P. thunburgii leaf are the number and position of resin ducts and the number of stomata rows in leaf surface.
Using stereo, light, and scanning electron microscopes, we researched the anatomical and histological structure of Chaenogobius gulosus's olfactory organ and compared it to those of sympatric gobies Luciogobius guttatus and Favonigobius gymnauchen. Results revealed the following common characteristics: i) tubular anterior nostril (AN) and flat posterior nostril (PN), ii) a single longitudinal lamella, iii) two accessory nasal sacs (ANS, ethmoidal and lacrimal), iv) abundant sensory epithelium lymphatic cells (LC), v) an eosinophil cell, and vi) a ciliary length a quarter of the knob diameter in the olfactory receptor neuron (ORN). Some characteristics are specific to C. gulosus and different from the other two gobies: i) 0.5~1.0 mm AN and 0.2~0.5 mm PN (vs. 0.2~0.3 mm and 0.2~0.3 mm in L. guttatus; 0.2~0.4 mm and 0.1~0.3 mm in F. gymnauchen), ii) two ANS (vs. absence in L. guttatus; two in F. gymnauchen), iii) abundant LC (vs. low in L. guttatus and F. gymnauchen), iv) low density non-sensory cilia on the lamellar surface (vs. high in L. guttatus; low in F. gymnauchen), and v) a quarter ciliary length to knob diameter ratio in the ORN (vs. mixture of a quarter to equal ratio in L. guttatus; two or three times in F. gymnauchen). From these results, we confirmed the C. gulosus olfactory organ has adapted anatomically and histologically to the sand-rock tidal zone.
