  • Deterioration of sewer concrete is representative that biochemical corrosion according to the $H_2S$ has growth by inhabit sulfur-oxidzing bacteria because of special environment in sewer. But in case of domestic, fundamentally, sulfur-oxidzing bacteria could moderate development of repair material method is need because of corrosion prevent method is inconsideration with carry out to improve project. In this paper, after development of spread type antibiotic with antibio-metal, antibacterial performance about sulfur-oxidzing bacteria of antibiotic and tested to estimate fundamental properties of bonding strength, abrasion contents, contents of water absorption, contents of air permeability, carbonation depth, chloride ion penetration depth and chemical resistance of spread with antibiotic restorative mortar.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the antibiotic and physical properties of antibiotic concrete added inorganic liquor-type antibiotic agent(as named for Antibio-C) as the basic data for the development of antibiotic concrete. The main experimental variables were the types of antibiotic agents and it is tested for the properties of antibiotic, flow, compressive strength, crack-resistance and durability of concrete. As results, concrete containing antibiotic agent presented the strong antibiotic activities compared with non-added concrete. Also antibiotic concrete showed the higher or equality properties than non-added concrete with respect to compressive strength, crack resistance and durability such as neutralization depth.

  • To analyze the growth of SOB (Thiobacillus novellus) and biochemical corrosion of concrete, simulation test method and device were developed. And two types of simulation tests were conducted according to a transplant method and a concentration of H2SO4. As a result, the SOB growth in distinct manners and antibiosis of specimen were observed. In the case of the specimens indirectly transplanted with SOB through culture solution submersion at a hydrogen sulfide level of 120ppm, the rapid activation of SOB and the resulting sulfuric acid production were observed. However, SOB were shown to grow rapidly and then die out in a relative short period of time. Meanwhile, in the case of the specimens directly transplanted with SOB at a hydrogen sulfide level of 50ppm, the long-term growth of SOB was possible, but the production of sulfuric acid by SOB did not progress. In the case of the antibiotic metal-mixed specimens, SOB with destroyed cell membranes and internal organizations were observed.

  • In this study, we encapsulate the core materials which have long term resisting properties to the bacteria. We also try to apply those capsules to the mortar and concrete which is using for the structures and ornament materials. Various wall thickness, shape, and membrane structure of microcapsule are tested and construction properties of the mortar and concrete which contain microcapsules are examined. Finally the microcapsules with anti-bacteria which can be used for mortar and concrete are developed.

  • This study discusses the long-term antifungal effect and antifungal performance of Hwangtoh mortars with various natural antifungal substances on five types of mold: Chaetomium globosum, Aspergillus niger, Aureobasidium pullulans, Gliocladium virens, and Penicillium pinophilum, which can be easily detected in the indoors and outdoors of buildings in damp environments. The antifungal performances of various natural antifungal substances extracted from Marjoram, Phytoncide, Thyme, Ginkgo leaves, and Chitosan (oligosaccharide) were investigated on the five types of mold, as a basic experiment. Using the natural antifungal substances selected for the basic experiment, antifungal mortars were made, and their antifungal performance and long-term antifungal effects were also investigated. The results clearly showed that the marjoram extract and their associated mortars had excellent antifungal performance. Also, their long-term antifungal effects were outstanding and at an equivalent level to those of the mortars with organic chemical antifungal agents. The optimum addition rate of the marjoram extract in the mortar was 5% by mass of binder. It was also shown that the phytoncide extract in the mortar needed an addition rate of more than 10% according to the mass of binder, considering the long-term antifungal effect and the antifungal performance.

  • This paper presents an invetigation into the cause of deterioration of wet surrounding RC structures subjected to checmical attacks such as sewage. The antibacterial-reforming agent is developed after determining the permeability of the RC structure. After application of the anitbacterial-reforming agent through SEM, the permeability, compressive strength properties and the micro-structure of the concrete were evaluated for durability. In addition, the antibacterial-reforming agent was combined with a protective coating for the wet surrounding RC structure and evaluated for durability. The combined effect of the antibacterial-reforming agent and the protective coating were evaluated in field tests in both sewer system and tunnel sites.

In this study, to prevent biochemical corrosion of the sewer concrete, antibiotics which prevent the growth of sulfur-oxidizing bacteria were developed and antimicrobial performance of it was investigated. After that, to consider applicability of antibiotics to concrete, durability such as resistance to carbonation, salt damage and chemical attack of concrete covered with inorganic and complex antibiotics were investigated. As a result of this study, it was proved that the antimicrobial performance of antibiotics was available. Also resistance to carbonation, salt damage and chemical attack of concrete covered with inorganic antibiotics was little improved but, in case of complex antibiotics, was remarkably improved. Moisture content of concrete, as a application condition of antibiotics in whole case, have little effect on performance but covering times of antibiotics have effect on performance only in case of complex antibiotics.
