Electrochemical Properties of 3D Cu-Sn Foam as Anode for Rechargeable Lithium-Ion Battery (3D-foam 구조의 구리-주석 합금 도금층을 음극재로 사용한 리튬이온배터리의 전기화학적 특성 평가)

  • Sn-based lithium-ion batteries have low cost and high theoretical specific capacity. However, one of major problem is the capacity fading caused by volume expansion during lithiation/delithiation. In this study, 3-dimensional foam structure of Cu-Sn alloy is prepared by co-electrodeposition including large free space to accommodate the volume expansion of Sn. The Cu-Sn foam structure exhibits highly porous and numerous small grains. The result of EDX mapping and XPS spectrum analysis confirm that Cu-Sn foam consists of $SnO_2$ with a small quantity of CuO. The Cu-Sn foam structure electrode shows high reversible redox peaks in cyclic voltammograms. The galvanostatic cell cycling performances show that Cu-Sn foam electrode has high specific capacity of 687 mAh/g at a current rate of 50 mA/g. Through SEM observation after the charge/discharge processes, the morphology of Cu-Sn foam structure is mostly maintained despite large volume expansion during the repeated lithiation/delithiation reactions.

Surface morphology, Glossiness and Hardness of Zn-Cr and Zn-Cr-X ternary alloy Electrodeposits (고속도금된 Zn-Cr 및 Zn-Cr-X 3원합금 도금층의 표면조직, 광택도 및 경도)

  • The surface morphology, the glossiness and the hardness of Zn-Cr and Zn-Cr-X(X:Co, Mn) alloy electrodeposits were investigated by using chloride bath with EDTA additive and flow cell system. The surface morphology of Zn-Cr alloy and Zn-Cr-Mn alloy changed from fine needle shape crystalline structure to colony structure of fine granular crystallites with increasing current density in the range of 20-100 $A/dm^2$. The surface morphology of Zn-Cr-Co alloy deposited from low Co concentration bath(2.5-10 g/$\ell$) was similar to that of Zn-Cr alloy, while that of Zn-Cr-Co alloy deposited from high cobalt concentration bath was fine granular crystalline structure in the same range of current density. The glossiness of Zn-Cr and Zn-Cr-Mn alloy increased noticeably with increasing current density, while that of Zn-Cr-Mn alloy decreased with increasing Mn concentration of bath in high current density region. The glossiness of Zn-Cr-Co alloy deposited from low Co concentration bath increased with current density while that of the alloy from high Co concentration bath decreased with increasing current density. The hardness of Zn-Cr and Zn-Cr-X alloy increased noticeably with current density.

Characteristics of the Hard-Overlayers by WC-12%Co Powder Addition in MIG Welding of Al Alloy (Al 합금의 MIG 용접에서 WC-12%Co 분말에 첨가에 의한 경화육성층의 특성)

  • It was attempted to improve the wear resistance of Al alloy under the load condition by making a formation of the thick surface hardening alloy layers. The thick surface hardening alloy layers were formed on 6061 Al alloys overlayed by MIG welding process with WC-12%Co powder addition. Effects of the dispersion of WE-12%Co powders on hardness and wear characteristics of alloys were investigated. The following results were obtained. Most of WE-12%Co powders are dispersed nearly uniform as unmelted particles in the matrix alloy. A part of WC-12%Co powders are melted in the molten pool, and during solidification {TEX}$Al_{9}Co_{2}${/TEX} appeared. With increasing addition of WC-12%Co powders, the hardness and specific wear resistance of the overlay weld alloys increased and reached Hv450 at WC-12%Co powder addition rate of 54g/min. It is considered that excellent wear resistance of the overlayed alloys was due to dispersed WC-12%Co powders and increased 10 times at WC-12%Co powder addition rate of 54 g/min than that of the WC-free overlaying layers.

Effects of the Types of Coating on the Laser Brazing Characteristics of Dissimilar Joints between Mg Alloy and Steel Sheet (마그네슘합금과 철강 이종소재의 레이저 브레이징 특성에 미치는 도금층의 영향)

  • The dissimilar welding between magnesium alloy and steel sheet was required in automobile industry to increase the strength of the dissimilar joints. Laser brazing is one of the good joining processes for Mgsteel dissimilar joint. In this study, the effect of coating materials was evaluated on the laser brazing for the dissimilar joint between AZ31 and coated steels such as Zn, Sn and Ni. Diode direct laser was used to braze the lap-edge joint with Mg600 filler wire and Superior #21 flux. The wettability was best on Zn coated steel. The interlayer was formed at the interface between brazement and steel for all coating materials. The strengths of brazed specimen were 146.5N/mm, 204.6N/mm and 101.6N/mm for Zn, Sn and Ni coated steel respectively.

  • 여러 화합물 반도체 중 $Sb_2Te_3$, $Bi_2Te_3$, 그리고 $Bi_2Se_3$과 같은 $A_2B_3$형 화합물은 열전소자에 적용가능성이 좋아서 광범위하게 연구되고 있다. $A_2B_3$형 화합물 중 특히 $Bi_2Te_3$는 단독 또는 다른 원소와 합금하여 태양전지, 열전소자, 그리고 상-변환 소자 등으로 이용된다. $Bi_2Te_3$ 박막을 형성하는 여러 방법 중에 전기화학적인 전착법은 박막의 조성 및 두께 제어가 용이하고 비용적 측면이나 형성속도 측면에서도 타 방법에 비하여 유리하기 때문에 주목을 많이 받고 있다. 하지만 전기화학적인 전착법에 의해 얻어진 박막은 점 결함, 높은 내부에너지와 결정성이 낮다는 단점이 있다. 본 연구에서는 도금층의 결정성 향상을 위하여 계면 활성제인 CTAB를 첨가하여 $Bi_2Te_3$ 박막을 형성하였다. $Bi_2Te_3$ 박막에 미치는 계면 활성제의 영향을 알아보기 위하여 결정성 및 전기, 열전 특성을 분석하였다. 또한, 도금된 박막을 다양한 온도에서 열처리 하여 열처리가 $Bi_2Te_3$ 박막의 전기 및 열전 특성에 미치는 영향을 알아보았다.

A Study on the Electroless Ni-Cu-P Alloy Plating of Al Base Hard Disk(I)Effect on some Properties of Electroless Ni-Cu-P Deposits by Electrolyte and Heat Treatment Condition (알루미늄 기판의 무전해 니켈-구리-인 합금도금에 관한 연구(I) 전해액 및 열처리 조건이 무전해 니켈-구리-인 도금층의 제 물성에 미치는 영향)

  • Electroless Ni-Cu-P alloy plating of Al base hard disk was performed to investigate some properties according to the change of composition. It was found that the composition of Ni and Cu in deposits changed linearly with increasing the mole ratio of NiSO4.6H2O/CuSO4.5H2O. The increase in hardness by heat - treatment was confirmed to be associated with small size grained crystallization of the amorphous deposits. Acid resistance of all deposits layer. which had been heated up to 30$0^{\circ}C$, was found to be exellent when immersed in 1N-H2SO4 solution, and it showed more superior acid resistance with decreasing Cu content and with increasing P. The resistivity of the deposits heat treated became smaller at temperature more than 50$0^{\circ}C$, and it became largerly with increasing P content. Cu 44.1wt% alloy(C bath) showed the most superior non-magnetically stable characteristics after heat treatment. It was superiorly with higher temperature and with decreasing P content.

  • Effects of alloying elements on the corrosion layer formation of Pb-grid/active materials interface has been researched for improvement of corrosion resistance of Pb-Ca alloy. For this research, various amounts of alloying elements such as Sn, Ag and Ba were added to the Pb-Ca alloys and investigated their corrosion behaviors. Batteries fabricated by using these alloys as cathode grids were subjected to life cycle test. Overcharge life cycle test was carried out at $75^{\circ}C$, 4.5 A, for 110 hrs. with KS standard (KSC 8504). And then, after keeping the battery with open circuit state for 48 hr, discharge was carried out at 300A for 30 sec. Corrosion morphology and interface between Pb-grid and active materials were investigated by using ICP, SEM, WDX, and LPM. Corrosion layer of Pb-Ca alloy got thicken with increasing Ca content. For Pb-Ca-Sn alloy, thickness of corrosion layer decreased as Sn and Ag content increased gradually. In case of Pb-Ca-Sn-Ba alloy, thickness of corrosion layer decreased up to 0.02 wt% Ba addition, whereas, it was not changed in case of above 0.02 wt% Ba addition.

Study on the Electrochemical Characteristics of a EGaIn Liquid Metal Electrode for Supercapacitor Applications (수퍼커패시터 응용을 위한 EGaIn 액체 금속 전극의 전기화학 특성 연구)

  • Recent years, supercapacitors have been attracting a growing attention as an efficient energy storage, due to their long-lifetime, device reliability, simple device structure and operation mechanism and, most importantly, high power density. Along with the increasing interest in flexible/stretchable electronics, the supercapacitors with compatible mechanical properties have been also required. A eutectic gallium-indium (EGaIn) liquid metal could be a strong candidate as a soft electrode material of the supercapacitors because of its insulating surface oxide layer for electric double layer formation. Here, we report the electrochemical study on the charging/reaction process at the interface of EGaIn liquid metal and electrolyte. Numerical fitting of the charging current curves provides the capacitance of EGaIn/insulating layer/electrolyte (${\sim}38F/m^2$). This value is two orders of magnitude higher than a capacitance of a general metal electrode/electrolyte interface.

Effect of DC Bias on the Deposition of Nanocrystallin Diamond Film over Ti/WC-Co Substrate (Ti/WC-Co 기판위에 나노결정 다이아몬드 박막 증착 시 DC 바이어스 효과)

  • 초경합금 위에 RF Magnetron Sputter를 이용하여 Ti 중간층을 증착 후 MPECVD(Microwave Plasma Enhanced Chemical Vapor Deposition) 시스템을 이용하여 나노결정 다이아몬드 박막을 증착 하였다. 공정압력, 마이크로웨이브 전력, Ar/$CH_4$ 조성비, 기판온도를 일정하게 놓고 직류 bias의 인가 여부를 변수로 하고 증착시간을 0.5, 1, 2시간으로 변화시켜 박막을 제작하였다. 제작된 시편은 FE-SEM과 AFM을 이용하여 다이아몬드 박막의 표면과 다이아몬드 박막의 표면 거칠기 등을 측정하였고, Raman spectroscopy와 XRD를 이용하여 다이아몬드 결정성을 확인하였다. Automatic Scratch �岵謙�ter를 이용하여 복합박막의 층별 접합력을 측정하였다. 바이어스를 인가하지 않고 다이아몬드 박막을 증착할 경우 증착 시간이 증가할수록 다이아몬드 입자의 평균 크기가 증가하며 입자들이 차지하는 면적이 증가하는 것을 확인하였다. 그러나 1시간이 경과해도 아직 완전한 박막은 형성되지 못하고 2시간 이상 증착 시 완전한 박막을 이루는 것이 확인되었다. 이에 비해서 바이어스 전압을 인가할 경우 1시간 내에 완전한 박막을 이루었다. 표면 거칠기는 바이어스를 인가한 경우가 그렇지 않은 경우에 비해서 조금 높은 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 바이어스 효과는 표면에서의 핵생성 밀도 증가와 재핵생성 속도 증가에 기인하는 것으로 해석된다.

Effect on Anodizing Oxide Film for Aluminum 6061-T6 Alloy on Corrosion and Stress Corrosion Cracking in Seawater (알루미늄 6061-T6 합금에 대한 양극산화층이 해수 내 부식 및 응력부식균열에 미치는 영향)

  • This paper investigated the characteristics of anodized aluminum 6061-T6 alloy for corrosion and stress corrosion cracking(SCC) under natural seawater. The hard anodizing oxide film formed on the 6061-T6 was a uniform thickness of about 25 ㎛. The corrosion characteristics were performed with a potentiodynamic polarization test. SCC was characterized by a slow strain rate tensile test under 0.005mm/min rate. As a result, the anodizing film showed no significant effect on SCC in the slow strain rate test. However, the corrosion current density of base metal was measured to be approximately 13 times higher than that of the anodized specimen. Therefore, the anodizing film significantly improved the corrosion resistance of 6061-T6 alloy in natural seawater.
