  • The purpose of the study was to investigate the effect of stress, social support, and self-esteem on depression in female students. A self-reported questionnaire was completed by 249 females students from November to December 2015. The study instruments comprised stress, social support, self-esteem, and depression. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and hierarchial multiple linear regression using SPSS/WIN 18.0 program. Depression was closely related to school year(F=7.03, p<.001), health status(F=15.19, p<.001), major satisfaction(F=18.02, p<.001), and student activity(t=1.98, p=.049). The significant factors influencing depression were stress(${\beta}=.45$, p<.001), self-esteem(${\beta}=-.34$, p<.001), social support(${\beta}=-.14$, p=.004), major satisfaction(${\beta}=-.11$, p=.018). To decrease depression, it is necessary to develop a program coping with stress and increasing the self-esteem and social support. Thus, it will be able to enhance the mental health of female students.

The measurement has gauged in 1998 at Yeon-Gil University in China. One hundred of the Chosunjok college women aged 17 and 24 in China were measured for this research. In the results of frequency analysis a comparison of the anthropometric categories of the chinese women with those of the Koreans revealed that the Chinese women were shorter and more fat in body. In the results of factor analysis Both two groups factor 1 represented the degree of abesity while factor 2 indicated the stature and the arm length. For the Chosunjok the body types are classified into eight types but Korean has four types by cluster analysis The stature and weight varied according to types leading to a classification focusing on the body size determened by stature and weight factors.

The subjects were 700 Korean and Chinese female university students. The research method was a survey and the measuring instruments consisted of objectified body consciousness scale, appearance management behaviors items, and subjects' demographics attributions. The data were analyzed by frequency analysis, cross tabs analysis, $x^2$ test, Cronbach' ${\alpha}$, factor analysis, t-test, and regression analysis, using SPSS statistical program. The results were as follows. First, three factors(body surveillance, body shame, and control belief) were emerged on objectified body consciousness, and Korean students showed the higher level of objectified body consciousness than Chinese students. Second, Korean students had much more experience and a higher intention to perform various appearance management behaviors than Chinese students. Third, body shame and control belief factors had important effects on appearance management behaviors of both country students. However, body surveillance was an important factor on only Korean students' appearance management behaviors. This study showed that objectified body consciousness is an important variable to affect appearance management behaviors, and there are many differences on objectified body consciousness and appearance management behaviors by cultural environments.

  • The purpose of this study was to construct a hypothetic model for the influential theoretical variables for the facial cosmetic resurgery intention of female college students with cosmetic surgery experience and to examine the compatability of the re-surgery intention model with real data. The subjects in this study were 320 selected female college students who had undergone cosmetic surgery. After a survey was conducted from July 15 to September 20, 2014, the answer sheets from 300 respondents were gathered, and the answer sheets from 295 respondents were analyzed except for the five ones that included uncertain answers. As a result, it's ascertained that cognitive dissonance was under the direct influence of post-surgery satisfaction with appearance, self-esteem, subjective norm and lookism.. Self-esteem, subjective norm and lookism had a direct impact on resurgery intention, and self-esteem and lookism affected resurgery intention both in direct and indirect ways through the medium of cognitive dissonance. The findings of the study are expected to provide useful information on the development of nursing intervention programs geared toward promoting physical and mental health.

  • This study examined the effects of auricular acupressure on female college students with functional constipation to propose auricular acupressure as an effective and evidence-based nursing intervention. This is an experimental study designed with randomization and single-blind in a Sham-control approach. The subjects included 44 female college students with functional constipation whose symptoms met the Rome IV criteria. In this study, five different acupressure sites were applied to each group; the experimental group (n=23) received auricular acupressure on rectum, large intestine, lung, san jiao, and shenmen, whereas the Sham control group (n=21) received acupressure on ankle, helix, tooth, jaw, and external ear. The intervention was implemented once a week for a total of six weeks. After six weeks, the severity of constipation, stool form, and quality of life regarding constipation in the experimental group significantly improved compared to that of the Sham control group (p<.001). Consequently, the study showed that auricular acupressure can be used as an effective nursing intervention to alleviate constipation in female college students.

Methods: Data were collected from 22 students with intervention program in the experimental group and 24 students with no intervention program in the control group and analyzed using ${\chi}^2$, t-test and ANCOVA. Results: The Drinking related knowledge(F=14.33, p<.001) of experimental group was significantly higher than that of control group and the optimistic drinking outcome expectancy(F=18.28, p<.001), and problematic drinking behavior(F=5.57, p=.003) of experimental group were significantly less than those of control group. Conclusion: it is recommended that college students should receive this program to prevent and reduce their drinking behaviors.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the effect of auriculotherapy on menstrual cramps, dysmenorrhea and skin resistance variability(SRV) of the female nursing students. This study was a pre-test and post-test with non-equivalent groups design. The subjects were 64 female university students experiencing dysmenorrhea in Cheonan and Gyeongju; 31 for the treatment group and 33 for the sham treatment group. The subjects of the treatment group received auriculotherapy twice a week for 5 weeks and sham treatment group received sham auriculotherapy using tape. The obtained data were analyzed by SPSS/WIN12.0 program. The menstrual cramps, negative emotions about the menstruation and skin resistance in the treatment group was significantly less than in the sham treatment group. However, there were no statistical differences in autonomic nervous system reactions. Based on these results, auriculotherapy could improve the quality of life for dysmenorrhea of female university students. However, further studies are necessary to support the effect of auriculotherapy and the scientific validity of skin resistance variability(SRV).
