사진시장에서 포토북의 인기가 뜨겁다. 필름카메라에서 디지털카메라로 세대교체와 함께 한동안 정체되어 있던 사진출력시장에 활기를 불어넣고 있다. 포토북이 이처럼 새로운 트렌드 아이콘으로 주목받게 된 요인은 기존의 앨범과는 또 다른 형태의 사진앨범으로, 디지털 카메라로 촬영한 사진을 나만의 책으로 만들 수 있다는 장점 때문이다. 특히 부모님 환갑잔치, 어린 자녀를 둔 젊은 부부, 연인끼리의 선물과 추억의 아이템으로 친구들과의 추억을 공유하는 우리들만의 추억으로 점점 그 인기를 더하고 있다. 포토북 뿐만 아니라 압축앨범, 포토 갤린더, 포토카드, 엽서, 휴대폰 고리용 미니북, 열쇠고리용 키북 등 다양한 리테일 상품들도 주목받고 있다.

사진에 흥미와 관심이 있는 과학을 사랑하는 일선교사들이 자연의 색깔ㆍ형태ㆍ생활습성 등을 카메라ㆍ현미경ㆍ비디오카메라에 담아 자연을 관찰하고 탐구하는 동호인모임인 한국자연과학사진협회는 1994년 2월에 창립하여 폭넓은 활동을 하고 있으며 대학생ㆍ일반인에게도 문호를 개방하고 있다.

GPS 포토는 사진을 찍는 위치, 시간을 갖는 장점이 있어 현재 지도 서비스에서 자연스럽게 표현할 수 있다. 하지만 이러한 GPS 포토는 사진의 메타 정보와 연동되어 단순한 정보만 알려준다. 본 논문은 GPS 정보가 있는 포토 또는 일반 사진을 이용하여 작성자가 사진의 상하 좌우 시야각, 범위를 표현 하여 ugcML형태의 geoPhoto를 생성하고 관리할 수 있는 시스템의 설계 및 구현에 대하여 기술 하고 있다. 이러한 사진에 담긴 대상에 대한 정보를 더 정확하게 저장, 관리할 수 있으며 사진 속에 포함된 대상에 추가적인 정보를 획득할 수 있다. 이전의 geoPhoto는 현재 찍은 사진을 찍은 위치만을 표현하는데 반해 geoPhoto 저작 관리 시스템은 위에서 말한 바와 같이 사진을 찍은 위치와 시야각 그리고 방향, 범위를 표현할 수 있다.

The recent small-scaled family form is making a great influence on sharing pictures of their children with family as well. As parents are usually taking pictures of their children with their smart-phones, the form of sharing pictures with families through SNS or text messages or uploading pictures of their children in mobile mini-homepage is becoming prominent these days. But when events of an each family member taking pictures occur, such as in 'the hundredth day party' or 'first birthday party' and exchange them through text messages or SNS, it would be difficult to gather their children's picture and view them all together other than the ones that they took themselves as it is difficult to send each and every picture. Also, another problem of managing pictures occur because the source of picture all differ from each other. There fore, to solve these problems, this study intends to suggest a co-family managerial photo management mobile application UI for family members to participate in gathering and organizing pictures that they took with their own smart-phones in a specific space and produce a mobile album.

This study is a research on the Photo-Storytelling applying factors of storytelling based on comics for the children photo education. Creation of new forms of contents has become possible due to the increase of the image creation and consumption in a new digital environment. Along with this development, the capacity for critical image literacy and the children photo education, as cultural arts, are more in demand than ever before. Therefore, the study proposes a new type of Photo-Storytelling that applies storytelling technique based on comics. First, we investigates the format of comics and compares photo and comics. Second, we analyzes photo education, which applies storytelling based on Comics and analyzes advantage it. This study will contribute to the development of basic research for children photo education by presenting a new form of photo education called the comic photos as the Photo-Storytelling program based on comics.

The idea of digital photogrammetry was first introduced into the photogrammetric community in early 1960s'. At that time, it was impossible to implement the idea due to inferior computer and digital image processing technology With the recent advancements in computer hardware/software and image processing techniques, digital photogrammetry has made its entry into the field of photogrammetry. The advent of digital photogrammetry also resulted from the increasing amount of digital data acquired through satellites, CCD cameras and digital scanning of photographs. Obviously, the major distinction between conventional photogrammetry and digital photogrammetry lies in the nature of primary input data (analogue versus digital), which could lead to a fully automated digital photogrammetric workstation. However, since digital photogrammetry is in its infant stage, virtually every task is an unsolved problem due to lack of understanding of theories and techniques. Upon considering the increasing demand of efficient digital mapping method and economical GIS database generation, the union of GIS and digital photogrammetry becomes ever clear. In this paper, the author addresses the current status of digital photogrammetry such as digital imagery and digital photogrammetric workstation as well as the role of digital photogrammetry in GIS.

The object of this study is to investigate how to effect on the response characteristic if the image were used in the internet survey about the social issues. Especially in case of the social issues with pros and cons opinions, the effects of the image on the response characteristics were investigated. In this study, the response attitude of the 4 different groups to 3 social issues was measured at March, 2013. The 4 different groups are following: group with only text information, group with positive image, group with negative image, and group with both image. It is shown in the outcome of analysis on survey that the group with negative images tend to respond negatively and the group with positive images tend to respond positively. It means the priming effect. As a conclusion of this study, if the image were used in the social investigation, the image should be selected discreetly and the effect of image should be reflected in the analysis in consideration of the priming effect of the image.

This paper analyzed how the characteristics of 'punctum' and 'studium' in war documentary photography work on the audience through 'D-DAY' photographs taken by Robert Kappa and a U.S. army photographer. As a method of research, we conducted interviews with the audience to examine the process of expressing the punctum and studium experiences. Studies have shown that audiences feel a greater punctum experience in war documentary photographs of 'Robert Capa' than those of U.S. army photographers. Even if the same situation was taken in the same place, the audience could confirm that the photo could be a means of distortion because it did not show reality in various ways depending on the photographer who took it. This study is meaningful in that it revealed the distortion of war documentary photography and the audience's punctum experience by examining the audience's experience of war documentary photography through qualitative research.

Photography has been used as a typical tool of recording image since its invention in the nineteenth century. Photographs provide valuable visual information about all parts of society, and a systematic management must be preceded to use these information. The management and preservation system of photographs should reflect the characteristics of photographic medium. It is necessary for many archives to perform appraisal first to collect and manage enormous photographs. Appraisal is the process of determining meaning and value of records, and the reasonable criteria should be needed to carry it out. The purpose of this study is to suggest appraisal criteria for photographic records based on the archival appraisal theories and the characteristics of photography. This study draws on traditional appraisal theories and some literatures for archival management of photographs. This study is organized as follows. The first section examines the concept and values of photographic records and the distinctiveness of appraising photographs. The second section analyzes the existing appraisal criteria for individual records. The third section designs appraisal classes of photographic records and proposes the criteria for each classes.
