Research on 3D software characteristics suitable for university (대학 3D애니메이션 교육에 적합한 소프트웨어 특성 연구:Autodesk사의 Maya와 3ds Max를 중심으로)

  • Computer graphic where the most useful and effective production methods are used for animation or films has expanded into actors' performance beyond object expression, background expression and special effect. Unlike 2D drawing software focusing on user's sense, 3D mainly depends on hardware performance and software functions. Therefore, for 3D users, learning 3D functions is directly related to new expression, and quick learning and effective representation are keys to productivity growth in animation industry. In line with industrial needs, basic 3D animation software training is provided in school. Unfortunately, however, many problems such as lack of professional instructors, time allocation and education environment prevent various 3D animation software from being taught. Moreover, functional use does not live up to industrial rapid trends. In order to improve effects of software functional education in restricted education fields, this research aims to find out what functions of 3D animation software are used in industries, what are those function used for, and how schools provide 3D animation software training.

Numerical Study on the Thermal NOx Reduction by Addition of Moisture in LNG Flame (가습 공기의 LNG 화염 Thermal NOx 저감의 수치 해석적 연구)

  • A computer program is developed for the prediction of NO generation by the addition of water moisture and water electrolysis gas in LNG-fired turbulent reacting flow. This study is the first part to deal with the moisture effect on NO generation. In this study, parametric investigation has been made in order to see the reduction of thermal NO as a function of amount of moisture content in a LNG-fired flame together with the swirl and radiation effect. First of all, calculation results show that the flame separation together with the NO concentration separation are observed by the typical flow separation due to strong swirl flow. With a fixed amount of air, the increased amount of water moisture from 0 to 10% by 2% interval shows the decrease of NO concentration and flame temperature at exit are from $973^{\circ}C$ and 139 ppm to $852^{\circ}C$ and 71 ppm. The radiation effects on the generation on NO appears more dominant than swirl strength over the range employed in this study. However, for the strong swirl flow employed in this study, the flow separation cause the relatively high NO concentration observed near exit after peak concentration in the front side of the combustor.

대화형 TV 서비스 기술 및 전망

  • 최근에 정보 고속도로 사업계획과 관련하여 세계 여러나라들이 실시하거나 실시 예정인 VOD 시험서비스에 많은 관심이 일고 있다. VOD서비스와 같은 대화형 TV 서비스(I-TV, Interactive-TV Service)는 컴퓨터, 통신 가전업체 그리고 영화 제작사등이 함께 참여하고 있다. 본 기고에서는 차세대 통합 멀티미디어 사업이라는 대화형 TV서비스의 개요와 요소기술, 그리고 서비스의 동향 및 전망을 알아보기로 한다. 1. 대화형 TV 서비스(Interactive TV Service)의 개요 현재까지 대부분의 TV 시청자들은 방송국으로부터 송신되는 공중파나 CATV서비스를 통해 프로그램 서비스를 받아보는 방송(broadcasting)방식 형태의 서비스를 이용해 왔다. 그러나 이러한 일방적인 수신방식은 최근 미국의 클린턴 행정부가 미국의 차세대 기반 통신망 구축 정책(정보 고속도로 사업; Information Super High-way)의 일환으로, CATV 사업자뿐만 아니라 지역 전화회사까지도 참여하고 있는 VOD(Video On Demand) 시험서비스가 시행됨에 따라서 미국은 물론, 우리나라를 비롯한 여러나라에서 대화형식의 TV서비스를 시행하려는 움직임이 일어나고 있다. 이러한 움직임은 지난 ‘92년 7월 16일 미 연방통신위원회(FCC. Federal Communication Committee)가 그동안 전화회사에 대해 CATV 시업진출을 금지하였던 정책을 바꿔서, CATV에 대항한 경쟁도입과 기반 정보통신망 정비를 목표로 하여 비디오 다이얼톤(VDT(주), Video Dial Tone)이라는 이름하에 공중통신 사업자에게도 영상신호를 전송을 인가함에 따라 시작되었다. VOD서비스와 같은 대화형 TV서비스는 가입자가 원하는 서비스를 시간에 관계없이 댁내의 통신회선(일반전화망, 케이블망, 광화이버망, 위성망)을 통해서 요구 즉시 실시간에 서비스를 받아볼 수 있는 멀키미디어의 통합서비스 방식이다. 도한 이 서비스는 음성통신과 방송의 통합형 서비스로서, 방송국, 전화회사 혹은 서비스 제공업자(ISP ; Information Service Provider)에 의해 제공된 디지탈 영상 및 일반 데이터 등을 압축하여 서버에 저장한 후, 소비자의 요청이 있을 경우에 통신회선을 통해 즉시 서비스 해준다. 이와 같은 대화형 TV 서비스의 구성요소로는 다양한 영상정보 및 데이타를 보유하고 있는 정보제공자, 전화선이나 CATV 또는 위성방송과 연결해 주는 지역별 비디오 서버 및 교환장치, 통신회선을 통해 전송된 서비스를 영상정보로 만들어주고 또한 가입자의 요구를 즉시 정보제공자에게 알려줄 수 있는 가정용 단말기 (STB. Set Top Box)로 이루어진다. 여기서, 비디오 서버는 다양한 대화형 TV 서비스를 제공해 주는 중계자로서, 영화, 홈쇼핑, 홈뱅킹, 대화형 교육, 비디오 게임 등을 가정에서도 가능하게 해 줄 뿐 아니라, 가입자를 관리하는 기능을 가지고 있어서 가입자 정보는 물론, 각종 서비스 사용료, 개인 통계자료 분석 등도 집계할 수 있는 기능을 가지고 있다.(그림1) 본 기고에서는 이러한 대화형 TV서비스 중에 대표적 응용서비스인 VOD 서비스에 사용되는 기술요소와 각국에서 진행되고 있는 VOD 서비스 동향 및 전망에 대해 알아보고자 한다. (주) VDT(Video Dial Tone) : FCC가 ‘92년 7월 16일에 인가한 지역 전화회사에 의한 가정용 영상 전송서비스 및 CATV에 대항한 경쟁도입과 Infrastructure의 정비를 목표로 하여 결정한 내용은 다음과 같다. 지역 전화회사에 대하여 (1) 공중통신사업자에 대하여 서비스 제공자에 대한 영상신호의 전송을 인가(기본서비스), (2) Video Gateway 서비스, 비디오 기기 제공, 서비스 제공사업자에 대한 과금, 요금징수 대행을 인가(고도서비스), (3) 프로그램 제공자에 대하여 자본출자율을 5%로 높이는 외에 (종래는 1%) 업무 관계의 확대(합병회사 설립 및 consultant 계약 등)를 인가. (4) Rural 지역(영업지역의회의 지방)에 대한 직접 프로그램 제공의 특별인가(주민이 1만세데 미만의 지방 공공 단체만 가능, 영업지역내에서는 제한없음), (5) 지방공공 사업체에 의한 영업면허의 불요(지역 전화회사가 직접 사용자에 서비스를 제공하지 않기 때문에 CATV 서비스로는 보지 않기 때문). (6)의 회로의 권고(케이블 정책법으로 결정되어 있는 통신사업자와 CATV회사 자본의 상호보유 금지의 해제) 등이다.

  • LCD televisions and monitors use cold cathode fluorescence lamps (CCFLs) to illuminate the screen. Most CCFLs contain mercury and they have to be carefully handled at the end of their lives as per minimum treatment standards under the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) and Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) directives. CCFLs were carefully separated from mold frames of waste LCD units for primary decontamination of mercury/fluorescent compound mixture using CCFL decontamination system designed and fabricated in the present research. Residual mercury was further removed by employing a pyro-process, where crushed CCFL tubes transferred from primary decontamination process were subject to heat treatment at $550^{\circ}C$ in a box furnace: more than 99% of mercury was removable from waste CCFLs.

Photomosaic Algorithm with Adaptive Tilting and Block Matching (적응적 타일링 및 블록 매칭을 통한 포토 모자이크 알고리즘)

  • Mosaic is to make a big image by gathering lots of small materials having various colors. With advance of digital imaging techniques, photomosaic techniques using photos are widely used. In this paper, we presents an automatic photomosaic algorithm based on adaptive tiling and block matching. The proposed algorithm is composed of two processes: photo database generation and photomosaic generation. Photo database is a set of photos (or tiles) used for mosaic, where a tile is divided into $4{\times}4$ regions and the average RGB value of each region is the feature of the tile. Photomosaic generation is composed of 4 steps: feature extraction, adaptive tiling, block matching, and intensity adjustment. In feature extraction, the feature of each block is calculated after the image is splitted into the preset size of blocks. In adaptive tiling, the blocks having similar similarities are merged. Then, the blocks are compared with tiles in photo database by comparing euclidean distance as a similarity measure in block matching. Finally, in intensity adjustment, the intensity of the matched tile is replaced as that of the block to increase the similarity between the tile and the block. Also, a tile redundancy minimization scheme of adjacent blocks is applied to enhance the quality of mosaic photos. In comparison with Andrea mosaic software, the proposed algorithm outperforms in quantitative and qualitative analysis.

  • Digital virtual manufacturing is a technology that aims for the rapid development of products and the verification of production-process in ways that are more efficient by integrating digital models within the entire manufacturing process. These digital models utilize various information technologies, such as 3D CAD and simulations. Mixed reality, which represents graphical objects for only needed parts against real scene, can bring a more enriched sense of reality to an existing virtual manufacturing system that is in a pure virtual environment, and it can reduce the time and money needed for modeling the environment. This paper suggests a method for planning virtual factory layouts based on mixed reality using legacy datathat are already constructed in the real field. To do this, we developed the method to acquire simulation data from legacy data and process this acquired data for visualization based on mixed reality. And then we construct display system based on mixed reality, which can simulate virtual factory layout with processed data. Developed system can reduce errors related with factory layout by verifying the location and application of equipments in advance before arrangement of real ones at the practical job site.

QoS Routing Protocol Based on Virtual Grids and MultiPaths for Mobile Sinks in Wireless Sensor Networks (무선 센서 네트워크에서 이동 싱크를 위한 가상 그리드와 다중 경로 기반의 QoS 라우팅 프로토콜)

  • Recently, Expectation Area-based Real-time Routing (EAR2) protocol has been proposed to support real-time routing in wireless sensor networks. EAR2 considers the expectation area of a mobile sink and uses flooding within the expectation area. However, flooding leads to excessive energy consumption and causes long delay against real-time routing. Moreover, since EAR2 uses single path to the expectation area, it is difficult to support reliable routing in sensor networks with high link failures. Thus, to overcome these limitation of EAR2, this paper proposes a reliable and real-time routing protocol based on virtual grids and multipath for mobile sinks. To support real-time routing, the proposed protocol considers expectation grids belonged to the expectation area. Instead of flooding within the expectation area, the proposed protocol uses multicasting to the expectation grids and single hop forwarding in an expectation grid because the multicasting can save much energy and the single hop forwarding can provide short delay. Also, the proposed protocol uses multipath to the expectation grids to deal with link failures for supporting reliable routing. Simulation results show that the proposed protocol is superior to the existing protocols.

  • As the technology in smart device is growing and Social Network Services(SNS) are becoming more common, the data which is difficult to be processed by existing RDBMS are increasing. As a result of this, NoSQL databases are getting popular as an alternative for processing massive and unstructured data generated in real time. The demand for the technique of digital investigation of NoSQL databases is increasing as the businesses introducing NoSQL database in their system are increasing, although the technique of digital investigation of databases has been researched centered on RDMBS. New techniques of digital forensic investigation are needed as NoSQL Database has no schema to normalize and the storage method differs depending on the type of database and operation environment. Research on document-based database of NoSQL has been done but it is not applicable as itself to other types of NoSQL Database. Therefore, the way of operation and data model, grasp of operation environment, collection and analysis of artifacts and recovery technique of deleted data in HBase which is a NoSQL column-based database are presented in this paper. Also the proposed technique of digital forensic investigation to HBase is verified by an experimental scenario.

Improving Haskell GC-Tuning Time Using Divide-and-Conquer (분할 정복법을 이용한 Haskell GC 조정 시간 개선)

  • The performance improvement of a single core processor has reached its limit since the circuit density cannot be increased any longer due to overheating. Therefore, the multicore and manycore architectures have emerged as viable approaches and parallel programming becomes more important. Haskell, a purely functional language, is getting popular in this situation since it naturally supports parallel programming owing to its beneficial features including the implicit parallelism in evaluating expressions and the monadic tools supporting parallel constructs. However, the performance of Haskell parallel programs is strongly influenced by the performance of the run-time system including the garbage collector. Though a memory profiling tool namely GC-tune has been suggested, we need a more systematic way to use this tool. Since GC-tune finds the optimal memory size by executing the target program with all the different possible GC options, the GC-tuning time takes too long. This paper suggests a basic divide-and-conquer method to reduce the number of GC-tune executions by reducing the search area by one-quarter for every searching step. Applying this method to two parallel programs, a maximally independent set and a K-means programs, the memory tuning time is reduced by 7.78 times with accuracy 98% on average.

  • Many IoT platforms have been proposed for various IoT devices, from low-end to high-end performance. We previously proposed a new IoT platform called MinT that supports the operation of the sensing devices and network communication. In the proposed platform, the things can flexibly connect to each other and efficiently share their information. Most IoT platforms, including the MinT, support thread pooling to quickly process requests. However, using a thread pool with a fixed thread count can cause network delay and inefficient energy consumption. In this paper, we propose an enhanced method to manage the thread pool efficiently by adjusting the number of threads every cycle to regulate the device's performance. In particular, we aim to improve the performance of the Interaction Thread Pool Group, which is responsible for analyzing, processing, and re-transmitting the received packets. The experiment shows that the improved method increases the average throughput by approximately 25% compared to the existing platforms. Finally, using the proposed method, the MinT can reduce the transmission delay and energy consumption of devices in the IoT environment.
