Hydro-forming Process Control and Design Concept of Automotive Rear Sub-frame Components Through Cross Sectional Analysis (단면 분석을 통한 자동차용 리어 서브-프레임 하이드로포밍 부품의 공정 제어 및 설계)

  • Hydro-forming technology has spread dramatically throughout automotive industry over the last 20 years. This technology has many advantages for automotive applications in terms of better structural integrity of the parts, lower cost from fewer parts, material savings, weight reduction, lower springback, improved strength, durability, and design flexibility. In this study, various simulation technologies were developed to investigate the formability of hydro-forming components. Through this technology, to establish the effective forming process for appropriate components design, the bending process, pre-forming process, die closing process, etc. were considered for good forming. This paper proposes the forming amount, section length (corresponding to the hydro-forming press capacity), and minimum curvature (curvature effect evaluation according to the hydro-forming pressure) among the considerations in the design of the hydro-forming part. In addition, a design method is proposed for hydro-forming molding by carrying out cross section analysis of a real sub-frame part for automobiles. The effects of pre-bending, axial feed, hydraulic pressure, press load, and friction among the hydro-forming process parameters were analyzed. Therefore, whether these processes are necessary factors for hydro-forming were examined.

Improved Adhesion Strength of the Gradient Zn-Mg Coating on TRIP Steel (TRIP강에서 박막 깊이의 Mg 함량의 변화에 따른 밀착력에 관한 연구)

  • 듀얼 페이즈(DP) 강철과 같은 고강도강(HSS), TRIP강, TWIP강은 무게를 줄이고 자동차의 안전을 향상시키기 위해서 자동차 산업에서 광범위하게 쓰이고 있다. HSS강의 내부식성을 향상시키기 위해서, 향상된 박막 재료와 기존의 아연도금 공정을 대체하는 공정 방법이 필요하다. Zn-Mg 박막은 강의 부식 방지에 대한 강력한 후보이며, 물리적 기상 증착 공정(PVD)은 강의 Zn-Mg 박막의 증착을 위한 유망한 공정이다. 그러나 이전 연구에서 보고 된 바와 같이 Zn-Mg 박막은 Zn-Mg 박막의 높은 취성으로 인하여 Zn 박막에 비하여 접착력이 매우 불충분하였다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 Zn-Mg 박막의 첩착력을 향상시키기 위해 TRIP강 기판 위에 증발 증착법을 활용하여 Zn-Mg/Zn 이중층 박막을 합성하고 진공에서 열처리를 실시하여 박막의 깊이에 따른 Mg의 함량 변화를 유도하였다. Zn-Mg/Zn 박막 합성 시 EMH-PVD를 활용하여 증착하였으며, Zn 중간층을 모재와 Zn-Mg 층 사이에 증착하고 진공중에서 열처리를 실시하여 박막 내에서 Mg 함량의 기울기 변화가 박막의 밀착력에 주는 영향을 평가하였다. 증착된 박막은 FE-SEM을 통하여 미세조직과 박막의 두께를 분석하였고 line-EDS를 통하여 깊이에 따른 Zn와 Mg의 변화를 분석하였으며 XRD를 사용하여 합금상을 분석하였다. Lap shear test를 활용하여 박막의 밀착력을 정략적으로 분석하였다. FE-SEM 및 EDS 분석 결과 Zn-Mg/Zn 박막을 진공에서 열처리를 실시한 후 FE-SEM으로 분석한 결과 미세조직의 큰 차이는 보이지 않았으나, line-EDS 결과 Mg이 확산되는 것을 확인 할 수 있었다. XRD 분석 결과 확산한 Mg에 의해서 Zn상은 감소하고 $Mg_2Zn_{11}$, $MgZn_2$와 같은 합금상은 증가하는 것을 확인하였다. Lap shear test 결과 $200^{\circ}C$에서 열처리한 Zn-15wt.%Mg/Zn 박막의 경우 밀착력이 19 MPa로 열처리를 하지 않았을 경우(11 MPa)보다 향상되는 것을 확인하였다. 이러한 결과는 통하여 Zn-Mg 박막의 두께의 Mg의 함량 변화에 의해서 박막의 밀착력이 변화되는 것을 알 수 있다.

  • Increasing the proportion of an embedded system in automotive industry, test methods for evaluation and fault detection of the embedded system have been researched. HILS is a test method that is used in the development and test of complex real-time embedded systems. In this study, we defined the HILS method of the ECU, one of the embedded systems used in automobiles. Our method is to create a test model that can provide a virtual vehicle environment to the ECU on the basis of the actual vehicle data. The test model has reference information that can transmit the sensor signal and CAN Message into the ECU from HILS tester. In this study, the HILS can detect faults of the target ECU.

  • In this paper, the inductive power collector using electromagnetic induction for vehicle such as the electric railway vehicle system is suggested and some ideas for power collector design to improve the power transfer performance are presented. The inductive power of secondary part is related to amount of linked flux to secondary part by the length of air-gap, which is expected by such a system parameter as mutual inductance. This paper will study for the transfer characteristic of power from input to output and equation including mutual inductance.

A Vehicle License Plate Recognition Using the Feature Vectors based on Mesh and Thinning (메쉬 및 세선화 기반 특징 벡터를 이용한 차량 번호판 인식)

  • This paper proposes an effective algorithm of license plate recognition for industrial applications. By applying Canny edge detection on a vehicle image, it is possible to find a connected rectangular, which is a strong candidate for license plate. The color information of license plate separates plates into white and green. Then, OTSU binary image processing and foreground neighbor pixel propagation algorithm CLNF will be applied to each license plates to reduce noise except numbers and letters. Finally, through labeling, numbers and letters will be extracted from the license plate. Letter and number regions, separated from the plate, pass through mesh method and thinning process for extracting feature vectors by X-Y projection method. The extracted feature vectors are compared with the pre-learned weighting values by backpropagation neural network to execute final recognition process. The experiment results show that the proposed license plate recognition algorithm works effectively.

  • Today, domestic and foreign manufacturing industries have to cope with obsolescence of manufacturing equipment because the shifting market trends drive the rapid changes in the production process resulting in stressful operation. Quality control process for manufacturing and production involves a familiar step - when the production process is completed, every item is subjected to various routine tests to determine that it meets the minimum quality standards. Typically, when a faulty product is found, the production line has to be stopped and the current batch is marked for further inspected and exhaustive testing. In this research, we propose a quality monitoring system for productivity enhancement. Our approach aims to reduces the operational down time in the production line of a car-component factory. The proposed monitoring system for productivity enhancement is designed to collect the data through testing at each phase of the assembly line and uses predictive methods on the collected data to achieve early detection of faults in the production process and minimize the number of products in a faulty batch thus minimizing the losses incurred from defective products. More importantly, this system aims to forecast and proactively detect faults and activate warnings when they are detected thus minimizing items in the defective batch, reducing the damage to manufacturing equipment and ultimately reducing the operational downtime or the delay in the resumption of normal factory operation.

A study of express bus entrance system for wheelchair users (고속버스용 휠체어 탑승 전용 승강구 개조부 연구)

  • In the rapidly aging society, the number of wheelchair users is increasing steadily. On the other hand, it is almost impossible for a disabled person using a wheelchair to use express buses. Therefore, it is necessary to develop an express bus that can secure the rights of wheelchair users. For these special types of express buses, it is required to develop a special entrance and lift system. The development of a wheelchair entrance system for the express buses requires design modification, retrofit, and reinforcement of the bus frame. This study evaluated the structural integrity of an entrance system for wheelchair users using a finite element method. Torsional stiffness and modal analysis were performed through structural analysis. Through sensitivity analysis, optimization was performed to reduce the weight of the frame. These results on the wheelchair entrance system are expected to be utilized in the vehicle modification and welfare industries.

  • This paper looks at "network" aspects of research and development (R'||'&'||'D) with a special focus on small and medium (S'||'&'||'M) automotive part makers in Korea. It throws light on recent changes in the technological capability building mechanism of Korean automotive firms. The Korean automotive firms have mostly built up technological capability from scratch. It is widely acknowledged that they have benefited from two cooperative relations: namely (1) the close cooperative relationship with their own assemblers and (2) technical assistance from auto parts makers abroad. Too much emphasis on these two links can, however, keep us from understanding new developments. This paper argues that auto parts firms have diversified their networks for technological development. It is based on the analysis of the data drawn from the survey on technological development activities of small and medium sized firms, which was carried out by the Korea Federation of Small and Medium Business. Many automotive firms have recently increased joint R'||'&'||'D links with university and/or research institution while their reliance on foreign sources have decreased.

  • 쌍용정유는 윤활기유 생산을 위한 최신공정인 Gulf 특허의 수질첨가 개질공정을 채택, 일본, 카나다에 이에 세계에서 3번째로 건설된 공장으로서 국내 수요전량을 수입에만 의존해 오던 재래식 공정인 용제유출 방식의 윤활기유를 대신하여, 최고급 품질의 윤활기유를 국내에 안정적으로 공급할 수 있는 확고한 기반을 마련하고 지난 5년여 동안 국내수요에 적극 공급해오고 있다. 일반적으로 볼때 쌍용정유에서 생산.공급하고 있는 윤활기유는 국내 각 정유사등 윤활유배합(제조)회사에 공급되어 용제에 따라 첨가제를 배합하는등, 소포장 단계를 거쳐 일반수요자에게 판매되는데, 완제품 윤활유의 사용은 대략 65% 정도가 자동차에 쓰여지고 있으며 공장등 산업시설에 23%, 선박, 기타 용도로 12%정도의 사용분포를 보이고 있다. 산화, 열안정성은 기유의 생명 불순물제거 완벽, 색상 뛰어나 수질첨가 개질공정은 재래식 공정인 용제추출 방식과 어떤 차이점을 갖고, 제품의 특성이 어떤 차이를 나타내는가를 알아보기 위해서는 2가지 방식에 의한 제품의 장단점을 비교해보는 것이 바람직하다고 하겠다.

  • Long-range wireless power transmission technology goes beyond mere cell phones and small appliances, and is the core technology of 4'th industrial revolution such as robot, electric car, and IoT sensor network. In this paper, we will explore the evolution of long-range wireless power transmission technologies that have already become commercially available, with rapid advances in technology, beyond the traditional short-range technology that has become technologically common. Through this, it is intended to check the domestic research level and progress by identifying core technologies and technical challenge.
