The purpose of this study is to suggest EAD mandatory elements to share finding aids among the Archival Institutions of Korea. Three foreign EAD best practices for case studies: the EAD Best Practice at the Library of Congress(2008), the RLG Best Practice Guidelines for Encoded Archival Description(2002), and the OAC Best Practice Guidelines for Encoded Archival Description (2005) were analyzed. In addition, the Archival Description Rules(2008) as the data content standard of Korea and the descriptive elements which are were being used at Archival Institutions of Korea were analyzed. Based upon the results of comparisons among EAD elements, in-depth interviews were performed to investigate which EAD elements should be included in finding aids as a matter of exchange format. Based upon the literature review, case studies, and interviews, the rules and EAD elements for the archival institutions in Korea were designed and suggested.

IT 기술에 의해 정보유통 환경이 진화하면서, 정보 획득의 방법에 있어서 웹과 디지털 기술을 활용하는 전자원문서비스가 활성화되고 있다. 그러나 국내 저작권법상 저작권자의 개별적인 허락없이는 해외 학술자료의 전자원문서비스가 불가능한 실정이다. 이 연구에서는 저작권법 조항의 문제점을 지적하고, 전자원문서비스의 실현을 위한 방안으로 확대된 저작권 집중관리제도의 도입을 검토한다. 확대된 저작권 집중관리제도(ECL)는 집중관리단체가 대리하지 않는 권리자에게로 이용허락계약을 확대시키는 것이다. ECL을 통해 국내 어문저작물의 복제 전송에 대한 저작자의 권리를 신탁관리하는 (사)한국복사전송권협회가 해외 학술자료의 이용에 대해서도 사용승인 및 사용료 징수 등의 역할을 수행하며, 이를 통해 도서관은 진정한 전자원문서비스를 실현할 수 있을 것이다. 전자원문서비스를 통해 저작권의 합리적인 준수는 물론, 학술정보 유통 활성화에 기여함으로써 궁극적으로 국가 경쟁력 제고를 도모할 수 있을 것이다.

This study aimed to propose the core values of librarians by investigating the core values of domestic and foreign libraries, including ALA's core values, and analyzing related research by domestic and foreign researchers. The research process included literature analysis, case studies, and surveys. The results showed that although the recognition of the need for setting core values for librarians was high (4.48), the awareness and understanding of core values were low. The reasons for recognizing the need for setting core values included improving the recognition and value of librarians, enhancing their professionalism, and establishing the value of libraries. The study proposed approximately 20 core values for librarians, with only two items scoring below 4 points, and 18 items showing high agreement with scores of 4 points or above. Particularly, professionalism, accessibility, diversity, service, literacy, and public interest all scored above 4.4. Analysis of perception differences between different types of libraries revealed significant differences for almost all items, with school libraries showing the most significant differences. The study recommends conducting in-depth research at the national level to reduce the number of core values to within 10 and share them with the nation.

The objective of this study is to provide the basic data for the elements and form of bibliographic reference for citing internet sources. The analysis study through various styles were conducted for the purpose. In this paper, documentation styles recommended by MLA APA, CBE and Chicago manual, IS0690-2, SIST-02 are introduced. And, elements and forms of documentation styles for documenting information are carefully analyzed. Also, examples of reference for documenting internet resources were followed.

Aside from serving as a body that monitors and criticizes the government through reviews and comments on public issues, newspapers can also form and spread public opinion. Metadata contains certain picture records and, in the case of local newspapers, the former is an important means of obtaining locality. Furthermore, advertising in newspapers and the way of editing in newspapers can be viewed as a representation of the times. For the value of archiving in newspapers when a documentation strategy is established, the newspaper is considered as a top priority that should be collected. A newspaper archive that will handle preservation and management carries huge significance in many ways. Journalists use them to write articles while scholars can use a newspaper archive for academic purposes. Also, the NIE is a type of a practical usage of such an archive. In the digital age, the newspaper archive has an important position because it is located in the core of MAM, which integrates and manages the media asset. With this, there are prospects that an online archive will perform a new role in the production of newspapers and the management of publishing companies. Korea Integrated News Database System (KINDS), an integrated article database, began its service in 1991, whereas Naver operates an online newspaper archive called "News Library." Initially, KINDS received an enthusiastic response, but nowadays, the utilization ratio continues to decrease because of the omission of some major newspapers, such as Chosun Ilbo and JoongAng Ilbo, and the numerous user interface problems it poses. Despite these, however, the system still presents several advantages. For example, it is easy to access freely because there is a set budget for the public, and accessibility to local papers is simple. A national library consistently carries out the digitalization of time-honored newspapers. In addition, individual newspaper companies have also started the service, but it is not enough for such to be labeled an archive. In the United States (US), "Chronicling America"-led by the Library of Congress with funding from the National Endowment for the Humanities-is in the process of digitalizing historic newspapers. The universities of each state and historical association provide funds to their public library for the digitalization of local papers. In the United Kingdom, the British Library is constructing an online newspaper archive called "The British Newspaper Archive," but unlike the one in the US, this service charges a usage fee. The Joint Information Systems Committee has also invested in "The British Newspaper Archive," and its construction is still ongoing. ProQuest Archiver and Gale NewsVault are the representative platforms because of their efficiency and how they have established the standardization of newspapers. Now, it is time to change the way we understand things, and a drastic investment is required to improve the domestic and international online newspaper archive.

한국서점조합연합회는 지난 11월 3일 서울 마포구립 서강도서관에서 침체된 서점업계의 활성화 방안을 찾는 '2011 서점포럼'을 개최했다. '서점의 생존전략을 주제로 열린 이번포럼에서 히로시 카가와 일본 IBC 퍼블리싱회장은 '콘텐츠 생태계의 변화와 서점'이라는 주제발표에서 "온라인이라는 발상을 자신의 편으로 만들었을때 비로소 서점이 미래의 새로운 모델을 낳는다"며 온라인 서점과 오프라인서점, 종이책과 전자책이 시너지 효과를 누리며 공존하는 방안을 찾아야 한다고 말했다. '서점의 현실과 전망'에 대해 주제발표를 한 이민우 군산 한길문고 대표는 정착되지 못한 도서정가제와 종이책 수요 감소, 과도한 신용카드 수수료 등으로 서점이 2000년대 초 3천500여개에서 지난해 1천 800여개로 절반 가까이 줄어들었다고 전했다. 본지에서는 일본 IBC 퍼블리싱 히로시 카가와 회장의 '콘텐츠 생태계의 변화와 서점'을 요약, 소개한다.

출판유통진흥원(원장 김종수)은 지난 10월 29일 서울 프레스센터 19층 목련실에서 '출판물류 RFID적용 동향 연구 세미나'를 개최했다. 이번 세미나는 출판유통진흥원 최성구 팀장의 '출판물류 및 공공도서관 RFID 도입현황', 한국출판협동조합 황순록 차장의 '조합 RFID 입출고 컨베이어시스템 적용사례', 북센 이중호 부장의 'Smart bookstore적용사례', 성공회대 유통정보학과 장승권 교수의 '국내외 RFID동향 및 적용 사례 분석발표' 등의 순으로 진행되었다. 출판유통진흥원의 김종수 원장은 인사말을 통해 "문화체육관광부의 지원으로 추진해 오고 있는 출판물류의 RFID적용 시범사업의 현황 및 시범적용 사례를 되짚어 봄으로서 앞으로의 발전 방안을 심도있게 논의하는 자리가 되기 바란다"고 말했다. 이날 발표 가운데 출판유통진흥원 최성구 팀장과 북센 이중호 부장의 'Smart bookstore적용사례'의 주요 내용을 소개한다.

강원전문대학신축설계경기의 당선작이 지난 6월21일 발표되었다. 총 9개의 작품이 응모한 이번 설계경기에서는 주.엄앤드이건축사 사무소(이각표)와 주.종합건축사사무소 산(한광호)의 공동안이 당선작으로 선정되었으며 주.건축사사무소 원.시공.형제(정상원)와, 주,건축사종합건축사사무소(공순구)의 안이 각각 우수작으로 선정되었다. 이 설계경기는 강릉시 주문진의 주문진소속고등학교 4만 8천여평 부지의 기존교사동, 실습동 증축과 대학본관, 도서관 등을 비롯 부대시설을 건립하는 것으로, 한국교육개발원의 '강원전문대설립방안 및 중.장기발전계획연구'에 의거 전문대학의 설립이념 및 목적, 설치학과 및 학생정원, 시설확충계획의 반영, 옥외시설 오픈스페이스 등을 충분히 고려하여야하는 것을 기본 설계방향으로 잡았다. 이번 심사는 한봉기(기획관), 이중근(건설교통국장)과 강원대, 관동대, 삼척산업대, 춘천교육대의 건축 및 조경학과 교수 등 총 10명이 맡았다. 당선된 주.엄앤드이건축사사무소와, 주.종합건축사사무소 산의 공동안은 적절한 조닝캠퍼스 내외의 접근성양호와 보차분리와 토지이용계획의 우수 등 여러 부분에서 심사위원들의 높은 점수를 받았다.

The study Is attempted to identify the factors affecting information literacy among undergraduate students. Through literature review, exposure to related education, use experiences in information resources, advice of the faculty, individual background are considered as variables affecting information literacy attitudes and performance. A questionnaire was devised and collected data from 628 students. Then 24 hypotheses were tested statistically. Descriptive analysis shows differences in information literacy, lower exposure to library instruction, and lack of the faculty advice. Results of the hypotheses testing shows computer and internet education, use experience of the various information resources, gender and major areas of study as factors affecting information literacy. Based on the results, recommendations are suggested to improve the information literacy.

This study aims to identify the current situation and core competencies of records managers and archivists through an in-depth interpretation of the perception and its meaning behind their experiences and, based on them, to seek the educational service directions of professional organizations. As a result of qualitative data analysis using interpretive phenomenological research method, this study identified three categories of field needs, core competencies, and educational service directions, as well as 10 super-topics, 30 sub-topics, and 82 semantic units. Based on this, this study has suggested the educational service directions of professional organizations, such as the provision of opportunities to secure external driving forces for work innovation, the provision of learning opportunities for communication and public discussion among institutions, and the provision of new partnerships and practical learning opportunities. This study is meaningful in having derived the main educational service directions that professional organizations should focus on and support by identifying the current situation and core competencies of records managers and archivists.
