  • This paper proposes a new learning recommendation system for learning patterns that educators are applying to learners using item-based method. The proposed method in this paper first collects personal learning methods based on learning information that learners are performing through the internet contents site. Then this system recommends a learning method which is estimated most properly to learners after classifying learning elements based on these information. The students of a middle school took part in the experiment in order to evaluate the proposed system, and the students were divided into three groups according to their grades. We gave inter-attribute and intra-attribute weights to learning elements applying to each group for recommending the most efficient method to improve learning achievement. The experiment showed that the learning achievement of learners in the proposed method is improved considerably compared to the previous grades.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the actual state of beverage consumption, oral health concern, and oral health behavior among high school students in Daegu and Gyeongbuk. The results of the study showed that the subjects with the highest academic achievement score of 3.46(${\pm}0.43$) were 3.23(${\pm}0.59$), which was statistically significant(F=3.601, p<0.05). Oral health behaviors were 3.16 points(${\pm}0.40$) when the academic performance was 'low', which was significantly different from those of 'high' and 'middle' students(F=4.329, p<0.05). Further research is needed to clarify various related factors related to future drink ingestion and oral health behavior, and it is thought that it is necessary to continue to promote the relationship between beverage and oral health through the results of this study.

  • With decreasing the number of high school graduates, it is vital for each college to maintain its enrollment number as well as to preserve its dropout rate in a lower level. It is true that all universities and colleges have experienced inevitable dropouts that were in fact more serious in 2 to 3-year colleges. There have been prior studies to examine what factors affected to students' dropout in various ways. However, no specific programs were employed to mitigate the rates of dropout. In this study, new encouraging program is introduced for the students who were not ready to study and isolated from classroom. The result showed that the program led to the GPA enhancement in larger number of participants. Nevertheless, the sustainablity of the program would be unclear unless it combines with other existing programs.

  • This study examined the reliability and validity of the Korean short version of the Big-Five Questionnaire for children, a instrument designed to measure Big-Five personality domains of elementary school students. The short Big-Five Questionnaire for children was composed of 15 items based on exploratory factor analyses on th data from 5th and 6th grade elementary school students(N=278). Confirmatory factor analyses revealed evidence of structural validity of the Korean short version BFQ-C. The correlations of K-BFQC-SF with the criteria of depression, academic achievement, career maturity were assessed to verify criterion-related validity. The correlation coefficients were correspondent to the results of previous studies. This study is meaningful in that it is sufficient to assess five factor personality domains in school settings.

  • We carried out mathematics diagnostic tests for all first year engineering students at C University in Daejeon in 2008, covering precalculus and basic calculus. Then we divided into two classes such as regular and supplementary classes. The supplementary class students are lower 13% students. Then we gave extra classes for these students to support their basic and elementary calculus skills. As a result, these supplementary students received a meaningful accomplishment at the final exam. This paper analyzes the results and effects of various types of supplementary classes such as education by level, and proposes some strategies to enhance mathematics learning, particularly for under achieving first year engineering students.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the effects of Socio-demographic Characteristics, perceived stress and depression of college students in Daegu and Kyungbuk provinces on problem drinking behavior. The subjects of the study were 295 college students who understood and agreed on the purpose of this study and conducted questionnaires using structured questionnaires. Data were analyzed with frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe test, pearson correlation coefficient, and multiple regression analysis. The results showed that depression was the most influential factor in the problem drinking behavior of college students in Daegu and Kyungbuk provinces, followed by gender, academic performance, and residental type. Therefore, it is necessary to develop an intervention program that takes into account the social psychological approach to prevent depression of college students and the characteristics of gender, academic performance, and residental type in order to prevent problem drinking of college students.
