Creative failure for learner's intellectual growth (지적 성장을 위한 창의적 실패교육)

  • Students' creative ability has become the one of important educational goals recently. Beliefs that students can grow intellectually is a key principle in creativity education. In recently, researchers have focused on learners' failure as a way for promoting creativity in schools. They start look into the ways in which learning failures are connected to creativity. Recent studies such as Kapur(2008) demonstrated that learners' failure experiences enable students to create novel solutions to solve problems to go beyond memorizing facts or knowledge. This paper discussed strategies that students or teachers can utilize learning failures to produce positive educational outcomes and also suggested some caveats when learning failures are introduced to a classroom. Specifically, learners should avoid any pre-existing frames of thoughts to create new alternatives to solve problems. Second, teachers or students should be allowed to explore content areas freely without having any risks of academic punishment. In addition, this paper also discussed possible negative results of early experiencing learning failures regards to negative emotion. Especially, experiencing continuous failures can bring students to learned helplessness. This paper discussed how to avoid this negative consequences. Related with negative emotional effects of failures, teacher or students should be careful in the earlier stage of learning processes to avoid learning failures. Lastly, this paper also suggested that minimizing fears related with learning failures and promoting failure tolerance so that students have motivation to overcome learning failures.

재창업의 성공 요인 : 지식, 인지심리, 감정

  • 계속 높아지는 기업가정신과 창업의도에도 불구하고 2017년 OECD 보고서에 따르면 한국은 실패에 대한 두려움이 높은 국가로 전체 7위롤 기록했다. 실패 후 신용 불량으로 인한 재기 불가능에 대한 인식이 여전히 팽배해 창업을 저해하는 요인으로 아직까지 큰 비중을 차지하고 있다. 그러므로 실패에 대해 관용적인 문화와 실패를 통한 학습 독려, 실패 기업인의 재도전 지원 활성화 정책은 한국을 진정한 창업국가로 변모하게 할 것이다. 그러나 무엇보다 실패를 경험한 창업가 본인 자신이 새롭게 재기에 임하는 마음가짐이 중요하므로 본 연구의 목적 역시 재창업자가 다시 창업에 어떤 자세로 임해야 하는지 찾고자 하는데 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 재기에 성공한 4명의 사업가와 재도전을 했으나 여전히 성과를 못 내고 있는 5명의 사업가를 인터뷰하여 재도전의 성공 요인을 탐색하고자 한다. 연구 결과, 재기 창업가가 재도전 성공을 위해 가져야 할 자세와 역량을 1) 지식(knowledge), 2) 인지(cognition), 3) 감정(emotion) 이상 3가지 관점에서 기존의 연구가 다루지 못한 접근법을 제안한다. 먼저, 지식 관점에서 보면 기존 사업과의 동질성 여부가 중요한 것이 아니라, 새롭게 진출하는 영역에 대한 준비성이 재도전의 성공 여부에 영향을 미쳤다. 다음으로, 인지적 관점에서는 과거 실패의 원인에 대한 분석과 자기 실책으로의 귀인은 차이를 보이지 않았고 오히려 앞으로 영위할 사업에 대한 여러 사람들의 지적과 충고에 대한 수용 역량(coachability)이 성공과 실패를 나눴다. 마지막으로 감정 관점에서 선행연구는 실패로부터 슬픔을 빨리 극복하는 사람이 학습과정도 빨리 이뤄지는 것으로 여겨졌으나, 슬픔의 극복은 재기 후 성과와는 관련이 없었으며, 본 연구에서는 재기 전 생계유지가 가능한 상태 여부가 성공의 선행조건이 될 수 있음을 발견하였다.

The Relationship between Parenting Attitudes Perceived by Elementary School Students and Their Learned Helplessness: The Moderated Mediation Effect of Academic Failure Tolerance and Resilience (초등학생이 지각한 부모의 양육 태도와 학습된 무기력의 관계: 학업 실패 내성과 회복탄력성의 조절된 매개효과)

  • This study investigated the extent to which parental attitudes and the moderated mediation effect of academic failure tolerance and resilience affect their level of learned helplessness. The participants included 337 fifth and sixth graders in one elementary school in Chungju-si, Chungcheongbuk-do Province. A survey method was used and the research packet included measures of parenting attitudes, helplessness, academic failure tolerance, and resilience. The results are as follows. First, positive parental attitudes, academic failure tolerance, and resilience were positively correlated with each other whereas learned helplessness was negatively associated with the other three variables. Second, academic failure tolerance partially mediated the relationship between parental attitudes and learned helplessness. Third, resilience moderated the relationship between academic failure tolerance and learned helplessness. Lastly, there was a significant moderated mediation effect of resilience on the link between parental attitudes and learned helplessness through academic failure tolerance. The findings indicates the importance of parenting attitudes perceived by elementary school students, academic failure tolerance, and resilience when designing counseling interventions for those with learned helplessness. This study also discusses its limitations and suggestions for future studies.

A Study on the Organizational Learning of the Disaster Management Organizations: the Cases of Daegu Subway (재난관리조직의 조직학습 사례분석-대구지하철 사례를 중심으로-)

  • Although the disaster management of Korea such as mitigation of disasters, preparedness for them and recovery from them. It should be considered based on the failures of the disaster management and the past experimental knowledge, it is believed that the repetitive occurrence of similar disasters is caused by absence of learning of disaster management organizational. That is, non-learning of the management organs due to experimental errors indicates that the organization themselves are not able to adjust to environment and the same kinds of disasters may happen in the future. Therefore, this study identifies repetitive failures by analysing reasons of the failures in terms of organizational learning in order to prevent from repetition of similar failures, and presents suggestions on the policy of disaster management. For the purposes, it carries both bibliographical analysis and case analysis. this study targets Daegu Subway Fire in 2003.

Failure Restoration of Mobility Databases by Learning and Prediction of User Mobility in Mobile Communication System (이동 통신 시스템에서 사용자 이동성의 학습과 예측에 의한 이동성 데이타베이스의 실채 회복)

  • This paper proposes a restoration scheme based on mobility learning and prediction in the presence of the failure of mobility databases in mobile communication systems. In mobile communication systems, mobility databases must maintain the current location information of users to provide a fast connection for them. However, the failure of mobility databases may cause some location information to be lost. As a result, without an explicit restoration procedure, incoming calls to users may be rejected. Therefore, an explicit restoration scheme against the failure of mobility databases is needed to guarantee continuous service availability to users. Introducing mobility learning and prediction into the restoration process allows systems to locate users after a failure of mobility databases. In failure-free operations, the movement patterns of users are learned by a Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System (NFIS). After a failure, an inference process of the NFIS is initiated and the users' future location is predicted. This is used to locate lost users after a failure. This proposal differs from previous approaches using checkpoint because it does not need a backup process nor additional storage space to store checkpoint information. In addition, simulations show that our proposal can reduce the cost needed to restore the location records of lost users after a failure when compared to the checkpointing scheme

  • 본 논문에서는 서버와 메시지를 주고받을 시 네트워크 환경상의 문제로 발생할 수 있는 메시지 전송 실패 이슈에 대한 신뢰성을 향상시킬 수 있는 3단계 메시지 실패 해결 솔루션을 제안한다. 서버에 업데이트 이슈가 발생시 push 서버를 통해 클라이언트에게 해당 이슈를 전송하게 되는데, 이 때 네트워크 환경상의 문제 등으로 실패 케이스가 발생하는 경우가 있다. 이러한 메시지 전송 실패 이슈에 대한 솔루션으로 재전송 요청, 해당 기능 수행시 서버 DB와 클라이언트 DB 동기화, 학습된 주기를 이용한 폴링(polling) 방식으로 서버로부터 누락된 메시지를 확인 및 실패 처리를 하여 신뢰성을 향상 시키도록 한다.

  • In this paper, we performed research about the successful and unsuccessful factors for college math education. In addition, on the basis of the results from the comparative study on the Korean/foreign students' attitude toward the role of computers in math study, we tried to find out the ways to reflect the results on college math education. As the ways to improve college math education we propose that the professors should emphasize the significance of math and explain the successful and unsuccessful factors for math learning during the initial period of each semester. Furthermore, the professors should recognize the importance of computers in math study and ask for the university authority's support to provide necessary softwares and establish computer labs.

The Effects of Entrepreneurs' Failure Experience and Re-education on Subsequent Venture: Moderating Effect of Entrepreneurial Motivation (기업가의 창업 실패 경험과 재교육이 재창업에 미치는 영향: 창업 동기의 조절효과를 중심으로)

  • While venture creation is considered to be of high social and economic importance, entrepreneurial outcomes are inherently uncertain and that failure is thus a central feature of entrepreneurship. Although failure in entrepreneurship is pervasive and critical, the impact of prior failure on future entrepreneurship has not received significant attention in the literature. Although failure is a painful and costly experience for entrepreneurs, it can also provide a powerful learning opportunity for those experiencing it. It has been argued that entrepreneurial failure is not just a individual problem but a matter of social concern. As part of the restarting business support system, entrepreneurial re-education program is provided to support failed entrepreneurs. The aim of this study is to examine the effects of failed entrepreneurs' prior entrepreneurial experience and re-education on subsequent venture creation. Moreover, this study also examined the moderating effects of entrepreneurial motivation. For the analyses, we surveyed the entrepreneurs who tried to re-start the subsequent business after the entrepreneurial failure through the "Revitalization Center for Strained Entrepreneur". The result found that failed entrepreneurs who learned a lot from their previous founding experience were more likely to re-start their subsequent business. The failed entrepreneurs who learned a lot from entrepreneurial re-education program were more likely to re-start their subsequent business. Moreover, the positive effect of failed entrepreneurs' previous founding experience and entrepreneurial re-education program on re-starting subsequent business was found to be weaker when entrepreneurial extrinsic motivation was high.

  • 음성 대화 시스템에서는 사용자가 잘못된 슬롯명을 말하거나 음성인식 오류가 발생해 사용자의 의도에 맞지 않는 응답을 하는 경우가 있다. 이러한 문제를 해결하고자 말뭉치나 사전 데이터를 활용한 질의 교정 방법들이 제안되지만, 이는 지속적으로 사람이 개입하여 데이터를 주입해야하는 한계가 있다. 본 논문에서는 축적된 로그 데이터를 활용하여 사람의 개입 없이 음악 재생에 필요한 슬롯을 교정하는 자기 학습(Self-learning) 기반의 모델을 제안한다. 이 모델은 사용자가 특정 음악을 재생하고자 유사한 질의를 반복하는 상황을 이용하여 비지도 학습 기반으로 학습하고 음악 재생에 실패한 슬롯을 교정한다. 그리고, 학습한 모델 결과의 정확도에 대한 불확실성을 해소하기 위해 질의 슬롯 관계 유사도 모델을 이용하여 교정 결과에 대한 검증을 하고 슬롯 교정 결과에 대한 안정성을 보장한다. 모델 학습을 위한 데이터셋은 사용자가 연속으로 질의한 세션 데이터로부터 추출하며, 음악 재생 슬롯 세션 데이터와 질의 슬롯 관계 유사도 데이터를 각각 구축하여 슬롯 교정 모델과 질의 슬롯 관계 유사도 모델을 학습한다. 교정된 슬롯을 분석한 결과 발음 정보가 유사한 슬롯 뿐만 아니라 의미적인 관계가 있는 슬롯으로도 교정하여 사전 기반 방식보다 다양한 유형의 교정이 가능한 것을 보였다. 3 개월 간 수집된 로그 데이터로 학습한 음악 재생 슬롯 교정 모델은 일주일 동안 반복한 고유 질의 기준, 음악 재생 실패의 12%를 개선하는 성능을 보였다.

A Web-Based Construction Failure Information System using Case-Based Reasoning (사례기반추론을 이용한 웹 기반 건설실패사례 정보시스템)

  • In order to encourage construction practitioners to acknowledge failures and disseminate the information, the failure information must be documented and accumulated with a well-structured format, which contains not only the fact and result but also the circumstance and cause of the failure. In the Korean construction industry, many failures are not explained clearly and often not even reported publicly, partly because due to the lack of understanding positive aspects of failures, which can improve construction practices as a result of learning from failures. The purpose of this study is to develop a web-based construction failure information system using the case-based reasoning techniques, which can systematically accumulate, manage, and share the valuable failure information using a structured failure cases database. It can be utilized for planning proactive solutions on future failures by searching the very similar past failure cases.
