  • This study analyzes the structural causal relationship among adult learners' characteristics, participatory motivation, methods of learning process by instructor, institutes satisfaction, and learning outcome. In addition, the study reviews the mechanism by which three different variables work as intermediates in the relationship between adult learners' characteristics and learning outcomes. The study subjects were 444 adult learners who participated in lifelong education, and the research hypothesis was verified through Structure Equation Modeling analysis. The results are as follows. First, the characteristics of adult learners affect learning outcomes, as well as the methods of learning process by instructor affects, participatory motivation and institutes satisfaction, and have a significantly positive(+) effect. Secondly, the methods of learning process by instructor affect institutes satisfaction, and the effect is significant. However, it does not influence participatory motivation. Moreover, it has a negative influence on learning outcomes. Additionally, participatory motivation has a significant effect on both learning outcomes and institutes satisfaction. Thirdly, when examining the ultimate intermediate between the characteristics of adult learners and their learning outcomes, institutes satisfaction was the optimal channel. These study results suggest not only the role of lifelong education institute, but also ways to improve academic outcomes of adult learners within the lifelong education field.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of social support of students majoring in physical education on their major satisfaction and intention to continue learning, and to prevent dropout of students majoring in physical education in the credit banking system and to find effective management methods. The research tools were verified by confirmatory factor analysis, concentration validity, discriminant validity, average variance extraction (AVE), concept reliability, and Cronbach's coefficient for validity and reliability verification of the research tools. The data processing method was conducted by using IBM SPSS Statistics 21 and IBM AMOS 21 to verify reliability analysis, correlation analysis, and structural equation model (SEM) through frequency analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, concentration validity, discriminant validity, Cronbach's coefficient calculation. The results are as follows. First, the study model was tested and the criteria were met for verifying the suitability of the relationship between social support, major satisfaction and learning persistence intention of the professors majoring in physical education in credit banking system. Second, as a result of the verification of Hypothesis 1, the social support of the professor of the physical education major in the credit banking system has a significant effect on the major satisfaction. The results of the verification of Hypothesis 2 showed that the social support of the professor of the physical education major in the credit banking system affects on the learning persistence. As a result of the verification of Hypothesis 3, it has been shown that major satisfaction has a significant effect on the learning persistence.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the structural causal relationship between adult learners' participation in lifelong learning, education program satisfaction, and social capital. Also, the study reviews how education program satisfaction variables mediate the relationship between adult learners' participatory motivation and social capital. Subjects included 425 adult learners who participated in lifelong education, and the research hypothesis was verified through structure equation modeling analysis. Results are as follows: First, adult learners' participatory motivation had a positive (+) effect on social capital and education program satisfaction. Secondly, education program satisfaction had a positive (+) effect on social capital. Thirdly, education program satisfaction partially mediated the relationship between adult learners' participatory motivation and social capital and showed a significant indirect effect. This study suggests that it is necessary to develop various programs that can satisfy learners as well as improve social capital, participation motivation, and satisfaction of programs provided by lifelong educational institutions. Based on these results, this study suggests not only the role of lifelong education institutes, but also ways to improve social capital of adult learners within the lifelong education field.

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the differences of student satisfaction depending on tutor's content expertise and experience in PBL of nursing. Nursing department, the subject of this study, is operating Hybrid PBL Curriculum that integrates the courses in nursing for all grades. Tutor's expertise was categorized based on their final dissertations and the clinical fields for which they worked. Tutor's experience in PBL is less than one year for beginners and more than 10 years for experts. After the PBL class for 6 weeks, the 3rd grade students were surveyed. The results showed that there was a statistically significant difference in the student satisfaction according to the content expertise, however, the student satisfaction depending on tutor's experience and the interaction effect between tutor's content expertise and experience were not significant. This study has raised the importance of the role of tutor as content expert in PBL. It is suggested that future studies be repeated for more tutors with diverse subject areas and majors to examine the differences between diverse variables other than student satisfaction.

  • This study aimed to understand the differences of the factors for learning satisfaction (learning content, system, interaction, instructor personality, and instructional context) between males and females in online graduate university settings. To examine the research objectives, a total of 88 graduate students attending online universities in Seoul, Korea participated in the survey. Among them, 66 valid responses were used for the analyses using the SPSS 21.0 statistical package. In order to figure out the differences of the factors in gender, Multivariate Analysis of Variance(MANOVA) was conducted with the five dependent factors. As a result, interaction was found to be a significant variable implying that females more actively participated in communication process. Finally, possible reasons for the results were described and suggestions were raised.
