  • The purpose of this study is to develop the competency model of specialized vocational school teachers as admission officers. Whereas professional admission officers deal with a variety of admission activities in universities, teachers are responsible for admission duties in specialized high schools in Korea. Therefore, it is necessary to identify the core competencies required for teachers responsible for admission duties in specialized high school settings. In order to develop a competency model, factor analysis was completed for the survey results of 191 teachers who teach in specialized vocational high schools in Seoul, Korea. For evaluating validity of the competency model, the responses from those who had high experiences in admission duties and the average teachers were compared. As a result, this study identified a total of 14 competencies in three competency areas. The competencies required for specialized high school teachers include responsibilities for admission officers, ethics for evaluators, communication skills, teamwork, understandings of admissions process for specialized vocational high school, developing evaluation criteria, generating interview questions, increasing interrater reliability, interview skills, simultaneous evaluation of interviewees, quantification of evaluation results, synthesis of evaluation results, and decision making skills.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between the satisfaction with clinical practice, the emotional intelligence, the caring efficacy and the resilience of nursing students, and also to identify the factors affecting their satisfaction with clinical practice. The subjects of this study were 253 third and fourth year nursing students who had experience with clinical practice at 5 colleges in D and K cities and G do. The data was collected by using self-reported questionnaires from October 1 to November 23, 2018. The data was then analyzed using an independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation and stepwise multiple regression analysis with the PASW/WIN 20.0 program. Satisfaction with clinical practice was significantly different according to satisfaction with nursing as a major. Satisfaction with clinical practice had significant correlations with emotional intelligence, caring efficacy and resilience. The factors affecting the satisfaction with clinical practice were caring efficacy, resilience and emotional intelligence, and the explanatory power of these models was 43.4%. Therefore, these results imply the need to develop education programs to improve caring efficacy, resilience and emotional intelligence, because all of these factors will contribute to the nursing students' satisfaction of clinical practice.

  • The purpose of this study is to determine critical assessments and core competencies, and to determine the competence and discipline of self-assessment. We surveyed 511 students who graduated from 12 universities. Self-efficacy 24 items were measured on a 5-point scale, 8 core competencies and 52 detailed competencies were self - assessed from 0 to a maximum of 10 points. The higher the score, the higher the self - evaluation competency level. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS 20.0 Ver., And a statistical significance level of 0.05 was considered. The self - evaluation competency level was the highest at 6.7 points in the clinical dentistry area, and the lowest at the evidence - based decision area of 5.7 points. Self-regulation was found to be positively related to the self-evaluation core competence level among self-efficacy sub-factors. As the students' self-efficacy affects subjective academic achievement and self-evaluation, it is necessary to develop and apply relevant programs to enhance critical thinking in curriculum, apply problem-based learning method, improve self-efficacy and leadership, It should be possible to cultivate.

  • Increasing evidence shows that ageist attitudes towards older adults develop quite early in childhood in Western culture, yet, empirical research on this topic in Korea is lacking. It has been argued that as Korea has become more youth oriented, negative views of aging have emerged and Korean children are increasingly exposured to negative stereotypes of older adults. Nuclearization of family structure and consequent reduction of intergenerational interaction is considered to be another important factor. The purpose of this study is to find out whether Korean children have ageist attitudes. Acknowledging the possibility that children tend to report in socially appropriate ways to the explicit measures of ageism, we included implicit measures of ageism. Data was collected from 570 fourth to sixth grade elementary school children selected by quota sampling. The current study used Child-Age Implicit Association Test and two other explicit measurements. The original versions were modified to be culturally applicable to the Korean context. Results indicated that when measured explicitly, children do not report preferring younger person than older person. However when measured implicitly, it was found that children at this young age already reveal negative biases toward the elderly. Contrast to the fact that the level of explicit ageism is significantly different by demographic characteristics of children, no statistical difference in the level of implicit ageism is detected. Based on the results, implications are discussed.

As a result, the following characteristics were found. First, contents and theories acquired during the course of teacher education are connected to the actual practice to increase the site-compatibility. Second, professional standards of teachers is rather holistic, than detailed and systematic. Based on the findings, the following implication can be drawn. To enhance the site compatibility of teachers in the Republic of Korea, it is requisite to build a persistent, and cooperative relationship among the faculty members of teacher education program, the members of the community, and supervisor teachers of practicum schools. Also, it is necessary to come up with a system that directly connects the professionalism of the teachers and the salary grids, as the salary of teachers are adjusted according to the completion of degree or courses, reflecting the professionalism.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze student and university features affecting outcome in labor market after university graduates. For accomplish this, multi-level analysis modeling with HLM(Hierarchical Linear Modeling) was adopted. GOMS(Graduates Occupational Mobility Survey) 2013 data were used for this study, and we added the Information Service of Education data for university information. The result of analysis were as follows. (a) Factors affecting outcome in labor market after university graduate were both student and university features. Significant features were house income, gender, academic major, GPA, and satisfaction in view point of student level. In university level, there were significant variables likes foundation, location, education costs, school type, and satisfaction. (b) We found the different significant variables between student and school level in the participations on the university career program. Significant features were job-experience and job-exhibition in student level, but there were no significant after adding variable in school level. In the school level, there were significant in subjects related career and job, job-exhibition, and consulting.

  • This research study was conducted to investigate the effect of knowledge, attitude and nursing professionalism on the confidence of the performance of nursing students who had experience with clinical practice and also to provide basic data for the development of nursing students' curriculum. The subjects who participated in this study were 286 students in the 4th year of nursing at two colleges in the Daegu and Gyeongbuk regions. The research data was analyzed using the SPSS 22.0 program. Confidence in performance of patient safety was higher for the women than for men, and for the students of an older age and higher academic achievement. Confidence in performance of patient safety was positively related to knowledge (r=.25, p=.000), attitude (r=.39, p=.000), nursing professionalism (r=.33, p=.000) and all these had statistical significance. On the multiple regression analysis, the coefficient of determination ($R^2$) was .49 and the explanatory power of the model was 49.2% (F=24.04, p=.000). The most important factor affecting confidence in performance of patient safety was the experience of having undergone patient safety education. Based on these results, it is necessary to seek various educational methods to expand the concept of patient safety from the beginning of the undergraduate course work. Especially, we think that various education strategies such as simulation education methods or information videos are needed to develop scenarios related to patient safety.

  • The present study attempted to identify how the knowledge and risk perception of nursing students regarding COVID-19 impact COVID-19 preventive behaviors. This study collected data from May 1st to September 20th, 2021, using a self-reported questionnaire targeting 184 nursing students. The collected data were analyzed using Independent t-test, One-way ANOVA, and Multiple regression. The research results indicated that the knowledge(r=.15, p=.019) and risk perception(r=.13, p=.036) of nursing students regarding COVID-19 had a positive correlation with COVID-19 preventive behaviors. The factor that impacted the COVID-19 preventive behaviors of the subjects was COVID-19 knowledge, which had an explanatory power of 4%. Therefore, it is necessary to develop an educational intervention program that enables nursing students to obtain the correct knowledge regarding COVID-19 and improves preventive behaviors.
