Recently, university education is changing from content- centered to learner - centered education not to deliver knowledge unilaterally but to help student to cultivate their skills to discover and apply knowledge for themselves. It means that students' cognitive or emotional development is being emphasized. Also, because of universities' quantitative expansion, more strict evaluation on professors' research result, or conversion to a departmental system in a university organization, it has become a crucial issue for undergraduates to adapt to college life successfully. Along with this trend of university education, an academic advising system is becoming one of the most important areas in it as in not only provides students with necessary academic information but also helps them adapt to college life by developing their potentials and integrating their career and life plans. Therefore this study is going to examine the status of academic advising systems in US universities, investigate how Dongguk University's Paramita college operates its academic advising system, and find out way to establish academic advising system in Korean universities.

This paper aims to comprehend the career plan and job view of the students of Dept. of Dental Hygiene who are expected to graduate with a bachelor of science degree, explain the characteristics of their jobs after graduation, compare them with the graduates of associate of science degree and finally give a basic data necessary for developing careers in the future. From the survey of 184 would-be graduates of Departments of Dental Hygiene at 6 universities that produce dental hygiene graduates in 2011 and 251 would-be graduates with a A.S. degree of Dept. of Dental Hygiene, whose course takes 3 years, this paper reaches the conclusion below. More graduates with B.S. degree in dental hygiene than those with a A.S. degree want to attend graduate school after graduation. It is found that most of the graduates with B.S. degree in dental hygiene wanted to work as a dental hygienist until they reach retirement age after getting a job. They favor dental hospitals, which give them a higher salary and ensure them of retirement age. They have a lower-esteemed job view: they think that their jobs are socially lower regarded, compared with graduates with a A.S. degree. It is found that those who wish to attend graduate school have lower job satisfaction than those who want to get a job after graduation. It is necessary for the educational institutes of dental hygiene to teach their graduates have a positive attitude their job and for the association to make an active effort to increase the job satisfaction of dental hygiene students as well as dental hygienists by enhancing social recognition of a dental hygiene.

An academic advising program has been initiated by Yonsei University to help first-year students formulate sound educational and career plans. We analysed the program on the basis of organizational models of advising of American colleges. Represented by University college and academic advisor, it can be categorized as a compromised system of Split and Total-Intake models.

To improve educational excellence and quality, academies carry forward integrative security model related to academic affairs including personal information. This paper proposes an integrative security model for academic affairs database, which guarantees DBMS access control, confidentiality, integrity, and security inspection. This proposed model considered that most academies can't make good use of data security product and suggests a detailed measure to realize the confidentiality based on the function of DBMS.

In this paper, A study about using Web 2.0 tools for school academic calendar can be managed systematically and effectively. Academic Calendar of elementary school as a whole displays a calendar and is managed and operated as a traditional academic calendar management system. Academic Calendar of the existing system configuration and operating primarily to teachers, parents, students, and participation in the sharing of information is inefficient. As a result of openness and sharing of information, the user is at the core of the participating elementary school academic calendar to take advantage of Web 2.0 to design and implement management systems were applied experimentally. School Calendar Web 2.0 tools used to manage the teachers, parents, students, seamless communication and sharing of information available and The school year schedule is repeated almost the same characteristics because it has very great significance of the information has recycled.

최근 대학들은 학부제 시행에 따른 학생들의 교과목선택권이 확대됨으로써 수강신청시 학사진도를 강화해야 할 필요성이 대두되고 있으며, 학생들은 자신의 진로에 맞는 좀 더 바람직한 교과목을 선택하고 이수하는데 체계적인 도움을 필요로 하고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 학생들이 자신의 목표\ulcorner진로에 맞는 교과과정을 원활히 이수할 수 있도록 도움을 주고자 교과목선정에 대한 상담을 지원하는 지식기반 학사지원시스템을 개발하여 보고자 한다. 개발될 학사지원시스템은 지도교수의 시간부담을 줄이고, 학생들에게는 언제든지 상담을 받을 수 있도록 함으로서 수강신청시 교과목 선정을 보다 효과적으로 지원할 수 있을 것이다.

90년대 중반 이후부터 인터넷의 사용이 급증하고 있으며, 이로 인하여 컴퓨터의 기술에 큰 변화를 주고 있다. 이러한 인터넷의 보편화로 인하여 언제 어디서나 필요한 정보를 적시에 제공 받을 수 있는 정보시스템이 요구된다. 본 논문에서는 대학의 학사일정 및 수업시간표, 교육과정, 수강신청 등 학사정보에 대한 멀티미디어 데이터베이스를 구축하였고, 인터넷에 의한 원격 검색 시스템을 개발하였다. 이데 따라 학내의 학사정보의 접근이 용이해 졌으며, 대학의 홍보나 구성원의 마인드 확산을 기대할 수 있다.

본 논문은 전국전문대학과 4년제 대학간의 학사관리시스템 개발 및 운영에 있어서의 차이에 대하여 실증적으로 조사하고, 비교분석하는 데 그 목적이 있다. 이러한 연구의 목적을 효과적으로 달성하기위하여 첫째로 학사관리시스템의 이론적 배경에 대하여 간략하게 언급하였다. 둘째, 연구방법으로 (1) 조사대상, (2) 자료의 수집방법 그리고(3) 자료의 분석방법에 대하여 논하였다. 셋째, 연구가설로서 (1) 연구가설의 설정, (2) 변수의조작적 정의 및 측정에 대하여 구체적으로 언급하였다. 넷째, 전문대학과 4년제 대학간에 있어서 학사관리시스템 추진부서의 현황, (3) 하드웨어와 소프트웨어의 보유 및 확보현황, 그리고 94) 학사관리시스템 개발의 성과로 세분하여 통계적으로 분석하고 가설들을 검정하였다. 끝으로, 본 연구를 요약하고, 연구의 한계 및 향후 연구방향에 대하여 언급하였다.

기업 내의 정보 시스템은 기업 내 모든 정보를 저장하여 관리하여 의사 결정 지원 및 고객 맞춤 서비스를 제공하는 등 기업의 이익은 물론 기업의 이미지, 신뢰도 등에 매우 중요한 역할을 한다. 대학의 정보 시스템은 대학 행정, 학사 업무, 연구 지원 등을 한다. 특히 학사 정보 시스템의 경우 대학의 개교 이래 학생들의 모든 수강 기록, 성적 등의 기록이 저장되고 관리되어지는 매우 중요한 시스템이다. 그러나 열악한 대학 재정의 한계로 학사 정보 시스템의 중요성에 비해 백업 시스템을 전혀 운용하지 않고 있거나, DAT 복사 등의 매우 초보적인 수준으로 백업 시스템을 구성 및 운용하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 대학 내 학사 정보 시스템의 안정적인 운용을 위하여 2년여 동안의 시스템을 분석한 후, 대학의 열악한 재정 상황을 고려하여 E-IDE 디스크 기반의 스토리지를 이용한 네트워크 기반의 백업 시스템을 설계, 구현한다. 또한 설계, 구현한 백업 시스템을 사용하는 경우 일, 주, 월 등으로 학사 정보 시스템의 정보를 안정적으로 백업하고 운영할 수 있다. 특히 천재지변, 화재 등 예상치 못한 장애에 대하여서도 효과적인 대처가 가능하다.

Recently, cloud computing has been affecting academic information system buildup. When university academic affairs information system is designed with cloud computing, it is very important to estimate the adequate processing capacity for the cloud computer taking into account a waste of resources and the quality of service. Cloud computer's processing capacity to meet the quality of service expected by users should be predicted based on users' transaction patterns and resource requirements characteristics. In this paper, we analyze actual traffic patterns occurring in university academic affairs business and propose a method to calculate the optimal processing capacity for cloud computer to satisfy the given average response time. To justify our research, we apply the research results to a real university academic affairs business case and obtain the optimal processing capacity for the integrated academic affairs business.
