A Study on the Evaluation of School Library Revitalization Project (학교 도서관 활성화사업 평가에 관한 연구)

  • This study aims to investigate the problems in conducting the first year project of a five-year school library revitalization project and to suggest the alterative to the present system for the following years. The method of evaluation was to visit the 16 local ministries of education and to interview the government school inspectors, school principals, teachers-in-chief, teacher librarians and parents. The evaluation was conducted based on the following criteria; school library facilities and increase in collection, enrichment of education W through school library, location of manpower and enhancement of profession and building the cooperation system with the private and public sectors. Additionally, school library service training and library support system were evaluated.

  • The purpose of this paper is to review the school library movement of provincial level. For the purpose current school library movement of Gyeonggy-Do and Gyeongsangbuk-Do are analyzed. The writer looks into motivations, strategies, accomplishments, and characteristics of the movements at the viewpoint of comparison.

  • 이 대담 시리즈는 학교도서관에 대한 도서관계 안팎의 관심을 높이고 현단계 학교도서관 운동이 나아갈 길을 모색해보려는 취지에서 시도된 것이다. 과거 학교도서관 운동을 주도하였거나 오랫동안 학교도서관 현장을 지켜온 인물들을 찾아 그들의 경험과 의식 속에 쌓여 있는 역사를 끌어내어 오늘을 비추어 보고 내일을 전망하는 계기로 삼을 것이다. 이번 대담에서 만난 사람은 우리 나라 학교도서관 운동의 초창기에 많은 활동을 한 조재후 선생이다. 선생은 부산중, 경남여고, 부산고 등에서 10년간 (1953-1963) 사서교사로 활동하면서 학교도서관 운동의 지평을 넓히는데 크게 기여하였으며 부산시 교육위원회 연구사 및 장학사(1963-1972), 문교부 중앙 시청 각교육원 연구관(1972-1973), 문교부 장학관 (1973-1975), 서울시 동부 교육구청장(1980-1982) 등으로 활동하셨다. 또한 영등포중, 혜화여고, 용산공고, 경기상고 등에서 교장으로 재직하시고 정년퇴임후 현재 서울 정화여자상업고등학교 교장으로 재직하고 계신다. 대담 일시 : 1998년 5월 2일 오전9시 30분 - 오전 11시 30분 대담 장소 : 서울 정화여상 교장실

An Analysis on the Tasks of a School Library Support Center : A Case Study of JungBu Public Library of Ulsan Metropolitan City (학교도서관지원센터의 현장 지원 과제와 전략에 관한 연구 - 울산광역시 학교도서관지원센터(중부도서관)의 경우 -)

  • The purpose of this article is to propose the functions of the School Library Support Center of the Ulsan Metropolitan City. The findings are based on the 2009 and 2010 statistics of the school libraries in the Ulsan Metropolitan City, and a questionnaire survey that was conducted for teacher librarians and the class teachers who manage their school libraries without a Library Science degree. The proposed tasks of the School Library Support Center fall into two categories: administrative and practical. Administrative tasks include assigning teacher librarians to schools, expanding library resources, and establishing an integrated supervision system for both school libraries and student reading programs. Practical tasks include developing educational programs, informing library program providers to school, and public relations programs about the Center's services.

Analysis on the Operating Status of Special Schools' School Library (특수학교의 학교도서관 운영 실태 분석 연구)

  • This study investigates the operation status of Special Schools' School Library and suggests policy implications after comparing with the School Library. As a result of the study, compared with general schools by region and school establishment, special schools are lacking in collection, budget, reading seats and usage. The number of collections per student in special schools is 57.9, the number of loans is 10.8, while the number of general schools is 96.7 and 29.6. The budget is about 30% of general schools, more than 90% of general schools have more than 20 seats, while Special Schools are only 75 (42.9%). There is not one volume of use compared to the collection. There are 47 schools (26.8%) with specialized staff, and only 20 schools have librarian licenses. Therefore, in order to revitalize the school library of special schools, it is necessary to cooperate with related organizations with disabilities in the local community, to expand collections, to have professional librarians and to improve the facilities environment.

  • 학교도서관 운동은 이제 일선 교사들에게만 맡겨 둘 단계를 지났다. 중앙이나 지방의 교육행정 당국이 이 운동의 현황을 파악하고 계획적인 지원과 지도에 나설 시점에 이른 것이다. 필자는 여기에 경상남도 교육위원회의 1964학년도 학교도서관 장학지도 계획을 추려서 소개하기로 한다. 학교도서관 운동의 현단계에 있어서 아주 의미 없는 일은 아닐 것으로 안다.

A Study on Librarians' Perception of School Library Location (학교도서관 위치에 대한 사서들의 인식조사 연구)

  • By providing a variety of information resources and space, the school library provides students with the opportunities for creativity improvement through reading and humanity education, teachers with the opportunities for providing the high quality training by developing teaching methods fit for the students' aptitude and ability. The school library is now playing a greater role as a curriculum-oriented space instead of just a repository for books. This study was intended to survey the perception of librarians in these libraries to find the most optimal location for the school library to ease use for teachers and students. In order to accomplish the object of this study, a questionnaire targeted school librarians around South Korea, and previous studies about school library facilities were analyzed. As a result of the study, factors such as 'buildings, floors, position in building, and size' of school libraries appeared to make a large difference in the satisfaction of school librarians.

A Study on the Impact of Library Exposure Experience to Freshmen's Academic Library Anxiety in South Korea (도서관 이용자의 도서관 노출경험이 도서관 불안에 미치는 영향: 대학 신입생을 중심으로)

  • To investigate the impact of the school libraries use experiences on the academic library anxiety among the freshmen of academy, A university's freshmen who had used the academic library were sampled systematically and surveyed. Data collected from 445 freshmen were analyzed using the frequency analysis, correlation analysis, regression analysis through the independents; sex, locations of schools, manager of schools, use education, library use, library aided instruction and compared with the previous studies. Library anxiety was also differed according to the locations of schools, managers of schools, library use, use education, library aided instruction. Based on the results, some recommendations were suggested to reduce the library anxiety of freshmen in academic libraries.

  • The purpose of this paper is to make understanding on the influence of school librarian on students' reading behavior. The Writer has collected and analysed data from 2,865 students in Daegu Metropolitan City according to statistical method and process. In conclusion, the writer proved school librarian give much developmental influence on students' reading behavior.
