Subtypes based on the psychological characteristics of perpetrators of school violence (학교폭력 가해 학생의 심리적 특성에 따른 유형)

  • The purpose of this study is to classify the subtypes of perpetrators of school violence based on their psychological characteristics. In order to classify the students, questionnaires/interviews which consist of 6 factors (Cognitive Impulsivity, Unplanned Impulsivity, Depression, Anxiety, Peer Conformity, and Self assertion) and 19 questions were administered to 86 perpetrators of school violence. Then, a two-step cluster analysis was performed with the survey results of 74 perpetrators. As a result, three clusters were identified and named as follows: 1) Impulsive Vulnerability, 2) Emotional Vulnerability, and 3) Social Vulnerability. Scrutinizing the detailed characteristics of each cluster, the first cluster, Impulsive Vulnerability, showed higher scores on Cognitive Impulsivity and Unplanned Impulsivity, compared to the other two clusters, while Depression and Anxiety scores were lower. The second cluster, Emotional Vulnerability, showed higher scores on Depression and Anxiety, while Cognitive Impulsivity and Unplanned Impulsivity scores were lower. The third cluster, Social Vulnerability, showed the highest score on Peer Conformity among the three clusters. However, Self assertion scores were the lowest in this cluster, and Cognitive Impulsivity, Unplanned Impulsivity, depression, and anxiety scores were lower than in the others. This study will provide a useful insight for facilitating teachers and parents' understanding of the psychological characteristics of school violence perpetrators and thereby contributing to effective intervention.

  • 한국건강관리협회는 1998년부터 국민건강증진기금의 지원으로 금연사업을 수행하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 협회에서 실시한 '07년 민간단체 금연클리닉 사업을 대상으로 사업의 효과성을 분석하여 사업의 과학적 근거 확보 및 향후 효과적인 사업 수행방안 마련 등 사업의 발전방안을 모색하고자 실시되었다. 대상은 2007년 민간단체 금연클리닉에 참여한 군 경, 중소업체 종사자, 운송업체 종사자, 국방부지정부대 참여자, 학교/공공기관 종사자 중 설문조사에 성실하게 응답한 3,170명이다. 민간단체 금연클리닉 사업 효과성 평가 설계는 구조화된 평가도구를 활용하여 금연클리닉에 참여한 집단만을 대상으로 참여 전(사전조사)과 금연클리닉 종료 후(사후조사)의 조사결과를 비교하는 단일 전후조사 설계(one-group pretest posttest design)방법을 사용하였다. 연구결과 민간단체 금연클리닉 참여자의 하루 평균 흡연량은 15.96개비, 평균 흡연시작연령은 18.59세, 평균 총 흡연기간은 146.39개월로 나타났으며, 참여자의 니코틴 의존도는 평균 3.81점으로 조사되었다. 또한 참여자의 84.5%가 의지로 금연 시도하였으나 실패한 것으로 나타나 이에 대한 개입이 필요함을 알 수 있다. 참여자들의 상황별 흡연욕구는 높은 수준이었으며, 특히 술자리, 스트레스상황 등 특정 상황에서 흡연욕구가 높게 나타났다. 금연관련 경험요인은 5점 기준 2.84점으로 조사되었으며, 인지적 과정이 행동적 과정에 비해 높게 나타났다. 마지막으로 민간단체 금연클리닉의 전반적인 만족도는 높았으나 상담환경에 대한 만족도가 상대적으로 낮았음을 감안할 때, 환경적인 부분에 대한 개선이 필요할 것으로 보인다. 더불어 금연클리닉의 효과나 만족도 부분에서 대상자의 특성에 따른 차이가 발생하므로 참여 대상자의 특성을 감안한 맞춤형 프로그램 개발이 필요할 것이다.

A Study on the relationship between the patterns of internet utilization and the internet addiction (중학생의 인터넷 사용행태와 인터넷 중독증과의 관계)

  • Internet addiction is a social problem occurring by overuse of internet. And internet addiction is associated with pathologic personality but clinic study about Internet addiction disorder is lack. This study was designed to evaluate the relationship between internet addiction and pattern of internet utilization. We conducted a questionnaire survey on 1,984 middle school students in Gwang -Ju. We questioned about internet addiction, general characteristics, pattern of internet utilization. 11.8% of total number were internet addiction. Sex, religion, duration, time, place, obscene sites, most frequent using service is associated with internet addiction. Family number, occupation of parents, using internet in home, use of parents isn't associated with internet addiction. We show interest in general characteristics and pattern of internet utilization about internet addiction. So we council youths about internet problem in accordance with this study results. Then internet addiction and other psychologic problem are decreased.

Phenomenological Analysis on Causes of Addiction in Smartphone Addiction Adolescents (스마트폰 중독 청소년의 중독원인에 대한 현상학적 분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to deeply understand the causes of addiction of the addicted adolescents of smartphone. Colaizzi's phenomenological study method was applied to analyze the causes of the addiction caused by the addicts'. The results of the study were confirmed 63 constructive meanings in the meaningful data expressed in the participants' experiences, Based on them, they were derived as 26 subjects, 8 subject groups and 2 categories. The causes of addiction were 'Personal psychological factor', 'Behavior habit factor', 'Social relation factor' and 'Internet smart phone factor'. Psychological, physical, interpersonal and everyday life changes were the results accompanied by causes of addiction. Through this study, the causes of addiction revealed in the participants' experiences are expected to be applied to the client-centered therapy of the smartphone addiction counseling process.

The Effects of Self-Monitoring on the Class Obstacle Behaviors and Participation Behaviors of Children (자기점검기법이 아동의 수업 방해 행동 및 수업 참여 행동에 미치는 영향)

  • The objective of this study is to divide the classroom behaviors into the obstacle behaviors in the classroom and the participation behaviors in the classroom for improvement of classroom behaviors upon the subjects of 4th graders of elementary school, and to find out what effects the self-monitoring program influences onto classroom obstacle behaviors and classroom participation behaviors of the subjective children. Study problems established in order to achieve this objective of study are to find out: first, what effects the self-monitoring program influences classroom obstacle behaviors of children, and second, what effects the self-monitoring program influences classroom participation behaviors of children. The subjects of this study are 12 children of a normal classroom of 4th grade of A elementary school located in J city of Jeollabuk-do, out of which 8 children, who showed high proportion in the classroom obstacle behaviors, and 8 children, who showed low proportion in the classroom participation behaviors were selected, and 4 children were those who belonged to both groups resultantly in accordance with the behavior scales measured during the baseline period. To summarize the results obtained through this study, first, the self-monitoring program turned out to influence positive effects upon reduction in the classroom obstacle behaviors of children and retention of their changed behaviors; second, the self-monitoring program turned out to influence positive effects upon increase in the classroom participation behaviors of children and retention of their changed behaviors.

The Effects of ETC-based Group Art Therapy : Focusing on the Parental Anxiety of Elementary School Students' Mothers (ETC 기반 집단미술치료의 효과성 연구: 초등학생 어머니의 양육불안 감소를 중심으로)

  • This study is aimed at verifying the effects of an ETC(Expressive Therapies Continuum)-based group art therapy program on reducing parental anxiety in first-grade elementary school students' mothers. An ETC program was composed based on the therapeutic factors of the ETC components. Seven mothers of first-grade students located in city A of Gyeonggi-do were selected as the subjects of the study. These mothers underwent 11 sessions of ETC-based group art therapy from April 18 to May 24, 2019, 1 to 2 times a week for 70 to 90 minutes. In order to verify the effectiveness of this research program, scores from pre- and post-parental anxiety scales were analyzed using SPSS 24.0 program. Results demonstrated that first, mothers' parental anxiety was significantly reduced after the ETC program participation. Second, changes in ETC component use throughout the program positively influenced reductions in parental anxiety. In conclusion, each participant experienced the opportunity to self-explore and self-understand at all levels of ETC with their preferred art medium, thereby lowering parenting anxiety. It is meaningful that through the ETC-based art therapy program, the client can be self-aware of his or her problem, and the client can decide the direction that is beneficial to them through voluntary media selection. In addition, it is meaningful that the ETC group art therapy is able to perform activities tailored to each individual.

A Concept Mapping Study of Korean High School Students' Conceptions of Friendship (남녀 고등학생들의 우정에 대한 개념도 연구)

  • The purpose of the study was to examine Korean high school students' experience and perceptions of friendship and to inductively conceptualize friendship. The concept mapping method which is used to quantitatively analyze qualitative data was used to identify and visualize participants' experiences and perceptions of friendship. Through a brainstorming process, 93 statements were generated by boys and 100 statements were generated by girls, each set of which were sorted and categorized to generate concept maps. The final concept maps from both group equally had two dimensions: 'Practical-Conceptual' and 'Behavioral-Emotional'. The number of categories was equal to four, but there were some differences in the specifics of the statements in the category. Boys tended to conceptualize friendship as a source of happiness; a type of informal relationship through which they could share their everyday lives; and provide mutual care and engage in emotional bonding. In addition to those conceptualizations, girls also tended to conceptualize friendship as an affective alliance through which they displayed devotion to each other. Boys regarded the sympathy and bonding found in and the happiness produced by friendship as more important elements, whereas girls regarded the care and support found in and the informal nature of friendship as more important

The Relationship between Child Abuse and Emotional Regulation: Mediating Effect of Rejection Sensitivity (아동의 학대 경험과 정서조절의 관계: 거부민감성의 매개효과)

  • Recently, the number of cases of child abuse has been increasing and, consequently, the social interest in this issue is increasing. The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between child abuse, rejection sensitivity and emotional regulation and to identify the mediating effects of rejection sensitivity in the relationship between child abuse and emotional regulation. For this purpose, a survey on child abuse, rejection sensitivity and emotional regulation was administered to 217 elementary school students in the fourth, fifth and sixth grades, who had been reported as victims of child abuse or managed as suspected child abuse victims in the Seoul, Gyeonggi, Gangwon, Chungcheong, and Gyeongsang regions. The data was analyzed using structural equation modelling and bootstrapping. The findings showed that child abuse was significantly negatively correlated with emotional regulation, but positively correlated with rejection sensitivity. Emotional regulation was significantly negatively correlated with rejection sensitivity. Second, the structural equation analysis also revealed that rejection sensitivity fully mediated the relationship between child abuse and emotional regulation. This means that child abuse has an indirect effect on emotional regulation through rejection sensitivity. Therefore, when counseling abused children with emotional regulation problems, it is important for the counselors to include interventions designed to lower their rejection sensitivity.

Current status of dietary education in elementary, middle and high school in Gyeonggi province: Comparison according to school level and placement of nutrition teacher (경기도 초·중·고등학교의 식생활 교육 현황 : 학교급 및 영양교사 배치여부에 따른 비교)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the current status of dietary education carried out by dieticians or nutrition teachers at elementary, middle, and high schools in Gyeonggi province. We compared dietary education status not only among school level but also between dieticians and nutrition teachers. Methods: The survey using self-administered questionnaires was conducted by dieticians or nutrition teachers at 91 schools (43 elementary schools, 33 middle schools, and 15 high schools) in Gyeonggi province in December, 2015. The questionnaire consisted of questions regarding general characteristics of respondents, current status of dietary education, opinion about dietary education methods, and cooperation level of persons concerned. Results: The placement rate of nutrition teachers was 50.5% overall. Only 36 out of 91 schools conducted regular dietary education, and the percentage of schools conducting regular dietary education was significantly different according to school level with the lowest percentage in high schools, equivalent to 20% (p = 0.003). The average annual dietary education time was 12.4 hours, and it was very low in high schools (5.1 hours) and in schools without a nutrition teacher (1.6 hours). The levels of cooperation and support from principals, teachers, parents, and students were significantly lower in high schools than elementary and middle schools (all p < 0.001) and in schools without a nutrition teacher than schools with a nutrition teacher (all p < 0.05). Conclusion: The results show that the level of dietary education is not enough and needs to be improved, especially at middle and high schools and at schools without a nutrition teacher. Government support polices need to be implemented to encourage dietary educational activities.
