A Study on the Path Loss Modeling for Mobile Cellular System (이동통신대역의 경로손실 모델 설정에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this paper is to analyze the path loss for the mobile cellular system. The maximum distance is 150 km and the area is about 6,000 $\textrm{km}^2$ and the field test was performed for the total 5 base stations. The path loss was calculated by Hata and Okumura models, respectively. As a result, it was shown that a proper model for the field test data is the middle one between the rural model and suburban/rural Hata model.

  • 본 논문은 국제통신연합 전파통신분야(ITU-R)의 간섭분석기의 표준으로 채택한 몬테카를로 기법을 기초로 하여 개발된 간섭분석기를 이용하여 개인 통신 서비스(Personal Communication Service)의 도심지 환경에서 수신 전계강도를 예측하였다. 또한 실제로 측정된 수신 전계강도와 비교하여 간섭분석기의 신뢰도를 검증하였다. 개발된 간섭분석기는 한국 지형에 적합한 전파 전파 모델인 수정된 하타(Modified Hata) 모델을 적용하여 개발하였고, 국내 PCS(IS-95A) 서비스 환경과 규격을 고려한 시나리오를 설정하여 모의 실험을 수행하였다. 실험 결과 간섭 분석기와 실제 측정 수신 전계 강도 사이에는 0.03dBm의 평균오차를 가지며, 이는 간섭분석기를 통해 얻어진 결과가 실제와 매우 유사함을 보여준다.

  • 본 논문에서는 국제전기통신연합(ITU의 전파통신분야(ITU-R)에서 간섭분석기의 표준으로 채택한 몬테카를로 기법에 기초한 간섭분석기를 개발한 후, 개발된 간섭분석기를 이용하여 서로 같은 주파수대역에 있는 IMT-2000(FDD)기지국과 IMT-2000(TDD) 기지국 상호간의 간섭영향 분석을 수행하였다. 개발된 몬테카를로 간섭분석기는 한국 지형에 적합하도록 전파모델에 있어 수정된 하타모델을 이용하였으며 국내 서비스 환경을 고려한 간섭 시나리오를 설정하여 모의실험을 수행하였다. 모의실험을 통하여 IMT-2000의 파라미터들의 적합성과 함께 동일 주파수 대역에 있는 두 시스템을 같은 셀내에서 공유가능함을 확인하였다.

An Analysis of Optimum Transmission Range in MANETs under various Propagation Models (다양한 전파 환경 하에서 MANET 최적 통달거리 분석)

  • This paper presents an analytical method for finding the optimum transmission range in mobile ad hoc networks(MANETs). The results are particularly useful for the operation of military networks, as the transmission range affects the throughput, delay, and battery consumption. Plus, the proposed method allows the optimum transmission range to be determined in advance when deploying combatants with mobile terminals. And we analyze the battery life-time and the optimum transmission range under various propagation scenarios based on Hata propagation model. The proposed method obtains the optimum transmission range in a MANET based on the operational conditions.

Empirical Propagation Path Loss Model for ATC Telecommunication in the Concourse Environment (콘코스 환경에서 항공 정보통신의 실험적인 전파 경로 모델에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, we studied the path loss model of Air Traffic Control(ATC) telecommunication radio channel at the Incheon International Airport(IIA) concourse area. We measured wave propagation characteristics on the two frequencies among VHF/UHF channel bands. The transmitting site radiated the Continuous Wave(CW). The propagation measurement was taken using the moving vehicle equipped with receiver and antenna. The transmitting power, frequency, and antenna height are the same as the current operating condition. The path loss exponent and intercept parameters were extracted by the basic path loss model and hata model. The path loss exponents at Concourse area were 3.1/3.13 and 3.01/3.38 respectively in 128.2MHz and 269.1MHz. The deviation of prediction error is 2.77/3.17 and 4.01/3.66. The new path loss equation at the Concourse area was also developed using the derived path loss parameters. The new path loss model was compared with other models. This result will be helpful for the ATC site selection and service quality evaluation.

We measured one frequency among VHF channel bands. The transmitting site was located at different locations with different heights. The transmitting site radiated the Continuous Wave(CW). The propagation measurement was taken using the moving vehicle equipped with receiver and antenna. The transmitting power, frequency and antenna height are the same as the current operating condition. The path loss exponent and intercept parameters were extracted by the basic path loss model and hata model. The path loss exponent at IIA Cargo terminal area were 3.67 and 3.39 respectively in first and second transmitting sites. The deviation of prediction error is 14.42 and 10.38. The new path loss equation at the IIA Cargo terminal area was also developed using the derived path loss parameters. The new path loss was compared with other models. This result will be helpful for the ATC site selection and service quality evaluation.

  • Korea Railroad Research Institute has developed the driverless rubber-tired K-AGT (Korean-Automated Guideway Transit) system from 1999 to 2005 and has done its performance and reliability tests on the test line at Gyeongsan-city. Radio Frequency Communication-Based Train Control system of K-AGT, which employed Advanced Automated Train Control scheme, detects train position using the radio propagation delay between wayside and vehicle radio equipment. In this paper, we investigate whether the transmission power of radio system can be reduced to the permitted level announced by the Ministry of Information and Communication for license-free ISM(Industrial Scientific Medical) frequency bands. We first determine radio propagation model, using the measured data at test line, and perform simulation for radio coverage prediction. From the simulation results, we identify that the radio system operated with reduced power can provide good link quality in total test line.

  • This paper introduces an interference analyzer based on the statistical approach called the Monte Carlo methodology, which has been chosen as one of the interference analyzing techniques in ITU-R. Furthermore, using the interference analyzer developed in this paper with modified Hata model, computer simulation is performed to examine probability of interference affecting between the base stations with FDD and TDD modes for IMT-2000. Through the simulation results, it is confirmed that two different systems with FDD/TDD modes of same frequency bands can be simultaneously used in a cell without significant interference, under the parameter conditions specified in this paper.

  • As ESL(Electronic Shelf Label) system is increased at the market in the world, the interference between ESL system and Wi-Fi(Wireless Fidelity) Cellular Phone at 2.4GHz becomes issue. The interference scenario and propagation of the Extended HATA Model were established to analyze the interference from Wi-Fi Cellular Phone into ESL system. Through simulation results based on SEAMCAT(Spectrum Engineering Advanced Monte Carlo Analysis Tool), separation distance was obtained to protect ESL system from Wi-Fi Cellular Phone interference.

The new path loss equation at the terminal area was also developed using the derived path loss parameters. The new path loss was compared with other models. This result will be helpful for the ATC site selection and service quality evaluation.
