A Study of Factors for Knowledge Structure (지식 구조에 미치는 요소에 대한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to compare web directories and users categories, and to identify factors for organizing knowledge structure. Date was collected by questionnaires and analyzed by factor analysis and multidimensional scaling. The result shows that Yahoo! directories and users categories are different. There are three factors, dynamic and static, visual and acoustic, relationship between hierarchic organization for differentiating knowledge structure.

Analysis of Korean Compound Noun using Semantic Information (의미 정보를 이용한 한국어 복합명사 분석)

  • 복합명사 분석은 조합이 자유롭고 제한이 없으므로 여러 가지 모호성을 발생시킨다. 이러한 모호성을 해결하는 기존 방법으로 사전을 이용하는 방법[2]과 통계적 정보를 이용하는 방법[3,4]이 있다. 본 논문에서는 하위 범주화된 어휘 정보를 가진 전자사전을 이용하여 복합명사를 분석한다. 그리고 어휘 정보만으로 처리했을 때 의미상으로 잘못된 분석이 발생할 수 있으므로 본 논문은 복합명사를 구성하는 어휘의 정보와 특정단어의 의미에 따른 복합명사 제약조건을 규칙베이스로 구축하여 분석에 이용한다. 또한 분석에 실패한 복합명사의 유형을 분석하여 각 유형에 따른 교정 방법도 제시한다. 실험 데이터는 부산일보, 교과서, 그리고 각종 문서에서 무작위로 추출한 27,945개의 복합명사를 사용하였다. 본 논문에서 제시한 의미적 제약조건을 이용하여 분석했을 때 복합명사로 잘못 쓴 어절의 검사율이 21% 향상되었다.

Applying Digital Curation to Teaching and Learning Materials for Multicultural Students (다문화학생을 위한 교수학습자료의 디지털 큐레이션 적용방안)

  • At public elementary schools in areas where multicultural students are concentrated, they have difficulty understanding classes due to their lack of Korean proficiency. Multicultural teaching and learning materials produced by teachers have not been managed or reused and stored individually. To overcome this situation and increase students' learning effect, the study applied digital curation to multicultural teaching and learning materials and suggested to link the materials with a platform that can be stored, used, and shared. The study was based on B Elementary School in A City, a multicultural international innovation school under the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education. The process of applying digital curation to multicultural teaching and learning materials was analyzed by collecting, organizing/selecting teaching and learning materials, categorizing subject, classifying subtopic, and linking with platforms. Practical issues and policy suggestions in school settings were also proposed.

Finding ouf the Culture of University life of Students Specialized in Golf (골프 종목 체육특기자 학생들의 대학생활 문화 알아보기)

  • This study attempted to illustrate in-depth light on the process of experiencing the campus life of university life of students specialized in golf who are forming new exercise culture in a transitional state students based on the grounded approach. For this, it selected 10 athletic students as research participants majoring in golf in A University in Chungcheong-do and collected data through in-depth interviews. As for the data analysis, the coding paradigm was composed to derive concepts and clarify the relations between concepts according to the grounded theoretical analysis suggested by Strauss and Corbin (1990), and the research results are as follows: First, 117 concepts, 16 subcategories, and 10 upper categories were deducted in the open coding. Second, the causal conditions were categorized into "University Life of Contactless Classes," contextual elements into "Practical Exercise," and "Participation in Classes," and the central phenomenon was regarded as the "Meaning of University Life as a University Athletic Student (golf)." As a result of reviewing the process of exercise and study at the same time, the conditions of arbitration were summarized as "Relation Formation" and "Ability Improvement," and the action/interaction strategies were categorized as "Academic Research" and "Negative Thinking," and at last, the results were composed of "Looking Back at the Past University Life," "Identity," and "Future Design." Based on these research results, the model of doing exercise and study at the same time of the university athletic students (golf) was categorized by the grounded theoretical paradigm procedure, and the university athletic students (golf) continued their university life without rest as their exercise life was influenced positively by academic life, and in addition, policy implications for enhancing the competency of student athletes who can encompass both exercise and study were presented.

A Study on Structure of a Faceted Classification for Organizing Korean Food Information (한식 정보 조직을 위한 패싯 구조화에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a faceted classification that enables the conceptualization and the organization of Korean food information. 23,470 terms were collected, categorized, and analyzed from the table of contents in 776 monographs and directory headings in portal sites related to Korean food. In order to develop the Korean food classification, common properties were analyzed in the process of categorizing terms. Then basic facets and subfacets were defined and assigned, and hierarchies among facets and concepts, citation orders, and notations were decided. As a result, the classification scheme consisted of 16 basic facets and 85 subfacets. The citation order of facets was proposed in order of Personality facet (kinds of dishes), Matter facet (materials, cooking utensils/equipment/containers, and nutrients), Energy facet (cooking processes and techniques, eating sense, type of cooking, table services, and agents of cooking), Space facet (countries/ethnic groups/geography, and eating places), Time facet (situation/purposes, season, time of meals, periods, and ages). The result of this study will be used for organizing, searching, retrieving, and providing Korean food information effectively around the world. Also, it will provide a foundation for developing subject-oriented classification using facet analysis in other disciplines.

The relationships of verbal behaviors with learning variables in cooperative learning environments, and middle school students' perceptions of cooperative learning (협동학습에서 언어적 행동과 학습 변인들 사이의 관계 및 협동학습에 대한 중학생들의 인식)

  • In a 7th graders' cooperative science class, verbal behaviors were categorized and their relationships with the improvement of learning strategies used. motivation, and attitudes were investigated. Students' perceptions of cooperative learning were also studied by the achievement level. Verbal behaviors in cooperative learning were positively related with the improvement of monitoring and organization strategies used, self-efficacy, and attitude toward science class. In the analyses of students' perceptions of cooperative learning, medium- and low-achieving students had positive perceptions but some high-achieving students had negative ones. In the aspect of effectiveness of cooperative learning, especially, medium- and low-achieving students perceived that they could learn more and better due to verbal interactions with peers. To be contrary, high-achieving students perceived that they learned less and superficially.

Prediction of Prosodic Break Using Syntactic Relations and Prosodic Features (구문 관계와 운율 특성을 이용한 한국어 운율구 경계 예측)

  • In this paper, we suggest a rule-based system for the prediction of natural prosodic phrase breaks from Korean texts. For the implementation of the rule-based system, (1) sentence constituents are sub-categorized according to their syntactic functions, (2) syntactic phrases are recognized using the dependency relations among sub-categorized constituents, (3) rules for predicting prosodic phrase breaks are created. In addition, (4) the length of syntactic phrases and sentences, the position of syntactic phrases in a sentence, sense information of contextual words have been considered as to determine the variable prosodic phrase breaks. Based on these rules and features, we obtained the accuracy over 90% in predicting the position of major break and no break which have high correlation with the syntactic structure of the sentence. As for the overall accuracy in predicting the whole prosodic phrase breaks, the suggested system shows Break_Correct of 87.18% and Juncture Correct of 89.27% which is higher than that of other models.

Cognition and Inferences of the Dimensional Terms in Korean (차원의 인지와 한국어 차원 낱말의 추론)

  • This paper examines the aspects of the inferences between the dimensional terms in Korean, and attempts to give an account of the inference patterns based on the interaction of gestalt and position properties of spatial objects. Following Lang (1987) and Lang, Carstensen & Simmons (1991), we advance the idea that the inferences are possible for the same axis of a spatial object, if some contextually induced positional specifications are reversed to the inherent proportion schema. Two simple inference rules are proposed and justified. They are applied under the assumption that the inferences of the dimensional terms are drawn in a unidirectional way, i.e, from the Primary Perceptional Space to the Inherent Proportional Schema.

  • The Sejong Electronic(machine-readable) Dictionary, developed by the 21st century Sejong Plan, contains systematically organized information on Korean words. It helps to solve problems encountered in the electronic formatting of the still-commonly-used hard-copy dictionary. The Sejong Electronic Dictionary, however has a limitation relate to sentence structure and selection-restricted nouns. This paper discuses the limitations of word-sense disambiguation(WSD) that uses subcategorization information suggested by the Sejong Electronic Dictionary and generalized selection-restricted nouns from the Korean Lexico-semantic network. An alternative method that utilized semi-supervised learning, the chi-square test and some other means to make WSD decisions is presented herein.

Improvement of Korean Homograph Disambiguation using Korean Lexical Semantic Network (UWordMap) (한국어 어휘의미망(UWordMap)을 이용한 동형이의어 분별 개선)

  • Disambiguation of homographs is an important job in Korean semantic processing and has been researched for long time. Recently, machine learning approaches have demonstrated good results in accuracy and speed. Other knowledge-based approaches are being researched for untrained words. This paper proposes a hybrid method based on the machine learning approach that uses a lexical semantic network. The use of a hybrid approach creates an additional corpus from subcategorization information and trains this additional corpus. A homograph tagging phase uses the hypernym of the homograph and an additional corpus. Experimentation with the Sejong Corpus and UWordMap demonstrates the hybrid method is to be effective with an increase in accuracy from 96.51% to 96.52%.
