A Study on Status and Necessity of the Curriculum for the Department of Libraries and Information Sciences in Korea (문헌정보학 교과과정에 대한 현황조사 및 인식조사 연구)

  • This study attempted to present the direction of development of the curriculum of Library & Information Science by investigating and analyzing the current status of the curriculum of Library & Information Science in Korea and the perception of the necessity of each major subject. To this end, the curriculum of the Department of Library and Information Sciences nationwide was thoroughly investigated. Based on the subjects, a questionnaire survey was conducted for all professors of the Department of Library and Information Science on the degree of consent for required and elective subjects. As a result, first, the total number of courses opened in the Department of Library and Information Science has recently decreased. It was confirmed that the proportion of the required subjects and basic subjects decreased, and the proportion of elective subjects increased. Second, it was found that the importance and weight of informatics are constantly increasing, and there is a high demand for new subjects such as big data, programming, and data analysis. Third, the proportion of library management in all subjects is decreasing, but the necessity of detailed subjects is highly recognized. Fourth, it was confirmed that the proportion of bibliography was gradually decreasing. Fifth, although records management was not a required major subject, its weight increased as an elective subject, while language subjects showed almost no awareness of the necessity.

  • This study seeks to develop a curriculum operating model for Korean Library and Information Science, based on investigations into LIS curricula at home and abroad. Standard courses that can be applied to this model were also proposed. This study comprehensively analyzed the contents of domestic and foreign curricula and surveyed current librarians in all types of library fields. As a result, this study proposed required courses, core courses, and elective courses. Six required LIS courses are: Introduction to Library and Information Science, Information Organization, Information Services, Library and Information Center Management, Information Retrieval, and Field Work. Six core LIS courses are: Classification & Cataloging Practice, Subject Information Resources, Collection Development, Digital Library, Introduction to Bibliography, and Introduction to Archive Management. Twenty selective LIS courses include: the General Library and Information Science area (Cultural History of Information, Information Society and Library, Library and Copyright, Research Methods in Library and Information Science), the Information Organization area (Metadata Fundamentals, KORMARC Practice), the Information Services area (Information Literacy Instruction, Reading Guidance, Information User Study), the Library and Information Center Management area (Library Management, including management for different kinds of libraries, Library Information Cooperator, Library Marketing, Non-book Material and Multimedia Management (Contents Management), the Information Science area (Database Management, including Web DB Management, Indexing and Abstracting, Introduction to Information Science, Understanding Information Science, Automated System of Library, Library Information Network), and the Archival Science area (Preservation Management).

  • 우리 겨레가 현대식 학교를 설립하고 학교 교과로써 수학을 가르치기 시작한지도 올해로 115년이 된다. 1883년 덕원읍민이 설립한 원산학교는 공통과목으로 산수를 가르쳤다(박한식, 1991, p. 8). 1895년에는 국립으로 한성사범학교부속소학교를 세웠고 또 칙령으로 소학교령을 공포하여 초등수학교육의 제도적 기반을 마련하였다(박한식, 1991, p. 12). 1905년까지 10년 사이에 전국에 세운 공립소학교만 60여 개교나 되었다(박한식, 1991, p. 15). 이들 소학교에서는 모두 초등수학(산술)을 필수과목으로 가르쳤다. 이렇게 우리나라에 도입된 학교 교육으로서의 초등수학교육은 격변하는 역사의 소용돌이 속에서도 끊어지지 않고 이어졌다.(중략)

A Study on the Archives and Records Management Programs in the Schools of Library and Information Science in the U.S.A. (미국 문헌정보학 대학원의 기록관리학 교육과정에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to identify several factors necessary to the curriculum development of the archives and records management in Korea by analyzing archival programs of to Schools of Library and Information Science(SLIS) in the U.S.A. Name of the schools, programs and their degrees, credits, required and elective courses, practice, research, facilities, and SAA guidelines of graduate archival programs are compared by analyzing websites and the literature review. There are a few LIS schools that concentrate archival education and most of the archival programs don't cover all of the core archival knowledge suggested in the LIS schools. In conclusion, the core curriculum of archival science should include history and preservation of archives, archives and records management, information technology, management principles, practicum, and research/ thesis. And a lot of cooperated research and conversation between educational institutions and practical fields are required.

  • 1972년 기계설계학과의 창설에 대한 논의가 분분할때 기계설계란 무엇인가 하는 오래된 질문에 제기되었다. 기계설계란 기계를 구성하고 있는 각 요소를 분석하고 이들의 역학적 특성과 제작상 의 문제점을 해결한다고 하여 완성되는 것이 아니고 과거의 경험적 토대위에 새로운 아이디어를 구현시키는 창조활동이다. 따라서 대학에서 강의하는 기계요소가 기계설계의 전부가 될 수는 없 다. 더우기 기계제도와 기계설계를 혼동하는 것은 있을 수 없는 일이다. 우리나라의 공과대학기계 공학과에서의 기계설계교육은 서울대학교공과대학을 비롯한 수개의 대학에서 실시되어온 패턴에 많은 영향을 받았다. 특히 1950년대 미국에서 일기 시작한 기계요소설계의 필수과목 제외로 인하 여 국내에서도 기게제도와 설계과목들이 축소되었다. 더우기 1975년에 와서 본격화된 실험대학프 로그램에 의한 140학점으로의 축소로 이들 과목들은 더욱 위축되었다. 앞으로의 기계설계교육은 어떻게 하여야 할 것인가를 생각하기 위해 외국에서의 동향과 우리나라 기게공업계의 현황 및 설계교육개선방안에 대하여 달하려고 한다.

The Trends of Computer Aided Design in the Clothing and Textiles Programs in U.S.A. Colleges & Universities (의류학관련 학과에서의 CAD의 경향 - 미국내 대학을 중심으로 -)

  • 현재 미국에서 컴퓨터 디자인(Computer aided design)은 의류산업과 의류학 교육에 중요한 역할을 하고 있다. 그러나 한국내 의류학관련 학과에서의 CAD의 도입은 아직 초기 단계에 불과하다. 이에 본 연구는 미국내 대학을 중심으로 의류학관련 학과에서의 전반적인 CAD 교육 경향을 조사 분석하여 실질적인 자료와 국내 의류학관련 학과의 CAD 교육의 나아갈 방향을 제시하는데 그 목적이 있다. 1993년 5월, 총 19문항의 질문지가 124개 대학 의류학관련 학과에 우편으로 배포되었으며 71부가 회수되어 57%의 회수율을 나타내었다. 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 조사 대상(71개 학교)중 56%가 CAD를 커리큘럼에 포함시켰다. 특히 의상디자인 전공을 가진 학과의 79%가 CAD를 도입하여, 의상디자인 전공이 없는 학과(28%가 CAD를 도입)보다 그 비율이 훨씬 높았다. 의류학 교육에서 CAD의 도입은 1988년 이후 급격한 증가 추세를 보였으며, 대부분의 강의는 의류학분야 교수진에 의해, 의류학과 시설물내에서 이루어졌다. CAD를 독립된 과목으로 강의하는 경우 대부분 필수과목으로서 한 학기 코오스가 많았으며 3학년부터 시작되었다. CAD를 다른 의류학 과목에 포함시켜 일부분으로 강의할 경우 영역 별로는 복식 의장학 분야의 과목에, 시간 별로는 한 학기 중 "몇 주" 정도로 가르치는 경우가 가장 많았다. 전체 CAD 강의에서 다루는 주제로는 패턴 메이킹이 가장 많이 차지하였으며 그 다음에는 패턴 그레이딩, 마커 메이킹, 직물/패턴 디자인, 패션 일러스트레이션, 의상디자인 순이며 스토어 레이아웃 상품전시 및 디스플레이 계획이 가장 적었다. 본 연구 결과는 현재 CAD를 강의하고 있거나 앞으로 CAD를 커리큘럼에 도입하려는 한국 의류학 분야 교육자에게 유용한 정보를 제공할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

Students' Perception of Advanced Placement Program between S&T Institute and Science Highschool (과학고등학교 공동AP(대학과목선이수제)에 대한 학생인식)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate students' perception of Advanced Placement Program. Participations of this study were 1144 students from 14 science high schools. The results showed as follows. First, students perceived positively regarding AP program and were willing to take AP courses because of interesting and challenging in academic area which is provided by AP courses. Secondly, many students would like to take AP courses in Differential and Integral Calculus 1, General Physics I, General Chemistry I and General Biology. Also, they would like to take AP courses in first term as a mandatory subjects. Third, responses perceived that AP courses were challenging, difficult, and of high quality. Finally, students perceived the benefit of AP courses in earing college credit. However, 35% of responses wished to receive an exemption for all AP courses. Also, they wished to have dual-major or participate in students exchange program as a benefit of AP program. Implications of the study were discussed in depth based on the results.

Analysis of Artificial Intelligence Curriculum of SW Universities (SW중심대학의 인공지능 교육과정 현황분석)

  • The interest in artificial intelligence is due to an increase in influence on companies, organizations, daily lives and society. The purpose of this study is to analyze the key elements in the teaching subjects of artificial intelligence-related subjects of Korean universities based on the intelligent system area of Computer Science 2013 in terms of human resources development. According to the analysis, there are five out of nine universities that run the required courses. Based on the 12 detailed knowledge domains of intelligent systems, the compulsory subjects of universities are distributed in the field of basic search theory, basic knowledge expression and reasoning, and inference based on uncertainty. The elective courses of each university covered topics in five to eight areas of the total knowledge area of the intelligent system, with 69.9 percent of universities with the highest average ratio of areas involving the subject of teaching subjects and 46.3 percent of universities with the lowest. This study has implications for the fact that prior to entering an artificial intelligence graduate school, we were able to grasp the level of knowledge about artificial intelligence at the undergraduate level.
