An Energy Efficient Explicit Disjoint Multipath Routing in Wireless Sensor Networks (무선 센서 네트워크에서 에너지 효율적인 명시적 분리형 다중경로 라우팅 방법)

  • Existing multipath routing mechanism has much overhead to maintain the state of nodes on the multipath route and does not guarantees completely disjoint multipath construction from source to destination. In this paper, we propose an Explicit Disjoint Multipath (EDM) routing algorithm to enhance energy efficiency through removing the flooding mechanism for route discovery process, minimizing the number of nodes participating in route update and balancing the traffic load for entire network. EDM constructs logical pipelines which can create disjoint multipaths in logical way. Then it physically performs anchor node based geographic routing along the logical pipeline in order to build multipath to the destination. EDM can provide the distribution effect of traffic load over the network, help to balance the energy consumption and therefore extend the network lifetime.

  • In this paper we propose a robust clustered croup Multicast in Ad-hoc network. The proposed scheme applies to weighted clustered Algorithm. Ad-hoc network is a collection of wireless mobile hosts forming a temporary network without the aid of any centralized administration or reliable support services such as wired network and base station. In ad hoc network routing protocol because of limited bandwidth and high mobility robust, simple and energy consume minimal. WCGM method uses a base structure founded on combination weighted value and applies combination weight value to cluster header keeping data transmission by scoped flooding, which is the advantage of the exiting FGMP method. Because this method has safe and reliable data transmission, it shows the effect to decrease both overhead to preserve transmission structure and overhead for data transmission.

  • Inter-vehicular communication that propagates information without infrastructures has drawn a lot of interest. However, it is difficult to apply conventional ad-hoc routing protocols directly in inter-vehicular communication due to frequent changes in the network topology caused by high mobility of the vehicles. MMFP(Multi-hop MAC Forwarding) is a unicast forwarding protocol that transport packets based on the reachability information instead of path selection or position information. However, delivering public safety messages informing road conditions such as collision, obstacles and fog through inter-vehicular communication requires broadcast rather than unicast since these messages contain information valuable to most drivers within a close proximity. Flooding is one of the simplest methods for multi-hop broadcast, but it suffers from reduced packet delivery-ratio and high transmission delay due to an excessive number of duplicated packets. This paper presents two multi-hop broadcast protocols for inter-vehicular communication that extend the MMFP. UMHB(Unreliable Multi-Hop Broadcast) mitigates the duplicated packets of MMFP by limiting the number of nodes to rebroadcast packets. UMHB, however, still suffers from low delivery ratio. RMHB(Reliable Multi-Hop Broadcast) uses acknowledgement and retransmission in order to improve the reliability of UMHB at the cost of increase in transmission delay, which we show through simulation is within an acceptable range for collision avoidance application.

  • Sensor networks are composed of a great number of sensor nodes with constrained battery. Disjoint multipath scheme based flooding method has a merit that efficiently construct multipath in irregular networks, but causes lots of energy consumption in networks. Flooding method is not a suitable technology in wireless sensor networks with constrained battery. We introduce energy-efficient geographic routing scheme considered as an efficient, simple, and scalable routing protocol for wireless sensor networks. The geographic routing scheme on multipath generates a problem with a congestion. So we introduce the concept of multipath pipeline as a congestion avoidance strategy. But multipath pipelines have a big problem on the boundary of holes under irregular networks. We propose a novel disjoint multipath scheme as combined method with geographic routing scheme and hole detouring algorithm on multipath. A novel disjoint multipath scheme constructs disjoint multipath pipelines efficiently for reliability without a collision in irregular wireless sensor networks. Simulation results are provided to validate the claims.

Efficient Service Discovery Scheme based on Clustering for Ubiquitous Computing Environments (유비쿼터스 컴퓨팅 환경에서 클러스터링 기반 효율적인 서비스 디스커버리 기법)

  • In ubiquitous computing environments, service discovery to search for an available service is an important issue. In this paper, we propose an efficient service discovery scheme that is combined a node id-based clustering service discovery scheme and a P2P caching-based information spreading scheme. To search quickly a service, proposed scheme store key information in neighbor's local cache and search services using it's information. We do not use a central look up server and do not rely on flooding. Through simulation, we show that the proposed scheme improves the performance of response time and network load compared to other methods.

  • When a car accident happened, the accident vehicle should broadcast a safe message to its neighbors in multi-hop. However, the pure flooding is difficult to protect a chain-reaction collision because of the frequent collision and the communication delay. To solve this problem, we proposes a back-off algorithm applied to the estimation of the neighbor node count using the t-distribution. And we proposes a MAC protocol preventing the communication delay by separating the neighbor's count collection channel and data channel. As a result, we show the frame reception success rate of our protocol improved more 10% than the previous protocol.

  • An indoor environmental monitoring system using IEEE 802.15.4 based wireless sensor network is proposed to monitor the amount of pollutant entering to the room from outside and also the amount of pollutant that is generated in indoor by the building materials itself or human activities. Small-size, low-power wireless sensor node and low power electrochemical sensor board is designed to measure the condition of indoor environment in buildings such as home, offices, commercial premises and schools. In this paper, two query models, the broadcasting query protocol and flooding query protocol, were designed and programmed as a query-based routing protocol in wireless sensor network for an environment monitoring system. The flooding query routing protocol in environment monitoring is very effective as a power saving routing protocol and reliable data transmission between sensor nodes.

  • 센서 네트워크를 구성하는 각 노드는 크기가 작고, 배터리 용량도 제한되어 있기 때문에 오랜 시간 노드가 활동하기 위해서는 노드의 에너지 소모를 줄이는 것이 중요하다. 센서 노드들의 에너지 소비 감소를 위해서 센서 네트워크에서는 에너지 효율적인 라우팅을 통해 에너지를 소비를 줄이는 방법이 연구되었다. 그 중에서 클러스터링 기법은 센서 노드가 클러스터를 형성하고, 그 주체가 되는 클러스터 헤드와 통신함으로써 전체적인 센서 노드의 에너지 소비를 줄이고, 센서 노드의 에너지 소모를 분산하는 기법이다. 그러나 클러스터 생성 후 클러스터 내에서 센서 노드들이 직접 클러스터 헤드와 통신한다거나, 플러딩을 하는 방식으로 통신했을 때, 각각의 센서 노드들은 에너지 소비를 낭비한다. 이때 중요시 생각해야 할 것은 클러스터를 형성한 후, 클러스터 내에서 라우팅을 어떻게 하느냐가 클러스터 내에 있는 센서 노드들의 에너지 소비 분배를 효율적으로 할 수 있게 하는 가이다. 이에 본 논문은 초기 랜덤하게 뿌려진 센서 노들이 클러스터 헤드를 선정한 후, 클러스터 헤드로부터 클러스터를 형성하면서 생기는 정보를 바탕으로 클러스터 헤드로의 효율적인 라우팅 프로토콜을 하는 방법을 제안한다.

Distributed Multi-Hop Multicast Transmission Scheme for Low-Power and Low-Complexity Wireless Devices (저 전력 저 복잡도 무선 기기를 위한 분산적인 다중 홉 멀티 캐스트 중계 기법)

  • Distributed relay scheme for wireless ad hoc multi-hop multicast network composed of low-power and low-complexity wireless devices with high density is proposed. The proposed relay scheme is shown to be better than flooding, which is the distributed relay scheme applied to ZigBee, in the outage probability and the multicast transmission rate by simulations.

  • In the vehicular ad hoc network environment, the clustering mechanism is one of the efficient mechanisms to deliver broadcast messages. Most clustering mechanisms require message exchanges between vehicles to build stable clusters, which causes overhead. In order to reduce this overhead, CF-IVC [1] proposes the mechanism to construct clusters based on the vehicle speed. However, since CF-IVC does not consider the road traffic condition and the driver's behavior, it may result in inefficient clusters. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a mechanism to establish efficient clusters based on the vehicle local information with considering the road maximum speed limit and the road traffic condition. The performance of the proposed mechanism is validated by comparing with those of the simple flooding and CF-IVC through NS-2 simulations.
