Developement of Scope for Military Rangefinder Using Schmidt Prism and Biprism Theory of Optometric Instrument (안광학기기에 사용되는 바이프리즘원리와 슈미트 프리즘을 이용한 군사 거리측정기용 스코프 개발)

  • Purpose: The new-type rangefinder, which is using the biprism principle, is introduced to develop the range finder which can be easily carried by soldiers, and in order to realize those technologies specifically, we try to develop a scope for military rangefinder by doing optical design which can secure enough space to move the biprism. Methods: After setting up the verious initial condition to realize two kinds of goals, that are the securement of enough space to move the biprism and the easy-exchangeability of two kinds of biprisms, and then the optical system was optimized by using optical design program CodeV in order to minimize the finite ray aberrations. Results: We designed the biprism housing to makes it possible to swap the two kinds of biprisms. It was appeared that the Schmidt prism is suitable as erecting prism which can make sure the space to move the biprism. 16.5 mm was good for the face length of Schmidt prism. The optical system with a Schmidt prism and a biprism was designed, and the finite ray aberrations was minimized. Conclusions: We developed a 5X scope for an optical rangefinder using a biprism and a Schmidt prism with 16.5 mm face length. This scope is valid for the optical system which has the effective field angle of ${\pm}3.6^{\circ}$, and the finite ray aberrations are well controlled within the ${\pm}8.95^{\prime}$.

  • 본 연구에서는 마스크리스 노광장치의 두 프로젝션 광학계 사이에 있는 마이크로프리즘 어레이에 관한 연구이다. 마이크로프리즘의 원리와 종류에 대해 알아보고, 마이크로프리즘의 출사부의 모양에 따라 패턴의 모양이 변함을 확인하였다. 그리고 원하는 패턴을 만들 수 있는 마이크로프리즘을 설계하였다.

Development of the Program Used in Calculating and Estimating Anamorphic Prisms (Anamorphic 프리즘을 위한 계산 평가 프로그램 개발)

  • Purpose: To develop the program used in calculating and estimating anamorphic prisms used to construct an anamorphoser. Methods: If there is a program which can show the apex angle and the volume of prism which are decided by the refraction index of anamorphic prisms and the expanding ratio of incident beam, the production of anamorphic prisms can be done accurately. Moreover, it could become a convenient tool to the design and production of whole optical systems using anamorphic prisms. Developing this program, first, we had to induce formulas of prism that decide the apex angle and the arrangement angle of anamorphic prisms with the given refraction index of anamorphic prism and the given expanding ratio of incident beam. Then we programmed them by delphi 6.0 language so that they could be visualized on screen and easily confirmed. Results: We could develop the program used in calculating and estimating anamorphic prisms used to construct an anamorphoser. Conclusions: Judging from the results of applying this developed program to actual business, we could conclude that this program is useful in calculation and production of anamorphic prisms which are used as components of an anamorphoser because this program can offer a lot of accuracy and quickness to producers.

  • This study relates to the development of a program for calculating the design data and estimating on the Abbe-$K{\ddot{o}}nig$ prism. First, we set the Abbe-$K{\ddot{o}}nig$ prism design variables and derive the relational expressions between them. With this expressions, we could develope the program that outputs the numerical data for the Abbe-$K{\ddot{o}}nig$ prism design and three evaluation data for the Abbe-$K{\ddot{o}}nig$ prism analysis when the face-length, the effective convergent incident angle of incident beam, and the refraction index of prism are given. In fact, applying this program to the prism which is not the commercial size, we were able to calculate the design data very quickly, and we could easily understand the optical structure of the designed Abbe-$K{\ddot{o}}nig$ prism by the three evaluation data. This means that we can quickly ensure the structural data of the Abbe-$K{\ddot{o}}nig$ prism which is required for the product development.

Study on Golf Range Finder by using Biprism Theory of Keratometer (케라토미터의 바이프리즘 원리를 이용한 골프거리측정기에 관한 연구)

  • Purpose: This study was to develop golf range finder which could measure exact distance from golfer to flag by using telescope and biprism. Methods: Golf range finder was made that included telescope and biprism which could move in the telescope, and an accuracy of the range finder was analyzed in distance range 20~200 m. Results: An equation was made for measuring distance which was related at position of biprism, and we could measure distance successfully by using developed golf range finder. Biprism of 2 ${\Delta}$ was useful to measure in short distance but it had bad accuracy in long distance, and 0.5 ${\Delta}$ was more useful in long distance. Image got worse when the biprism approch to focal point of objective lens for measurement in long distance, so we developed multi-layer biprism to prevent the weak point. Conclusions: Image stabilization by biprism for measuring distance was confirmed. Even if hand was moving, the distance could be measured well by using biprism, and we could find that the induced equation for distance measurement was useful. We found that multi-layer biprism, which is was new developed, was more useful than general biprism when the biprism approched to focal point of objective lens for measurement in long distance.

  • This study relates to the development of a program for calculating the roofed pechan prism design data. First, we set the roofed pechan prism design variables and derive the relational expressions between them. With this expressions, we could develope the program that outputs the numerical data for roofed pechan prism design when the face-length and the effective incident beam diameter are given. In fact, applying this program to the prism which is not the commercial size, we were able to calculate the design data very quickly, so that we can easily acquire the 3D structure of the actual roofed pechan prism. This means that we can quickly ensure the structural data of roofed pechan prism which is required for the product development and we are able to develop the new products related to the scope at a faster speed.

Improvement of Brightness in UV Curing Type Prism Sheet by Using Aromatic Groups (방향족 도입에 의한 자외선 경화형 프리즘시트의 휘도 개전)

  • As the refractive index of the prism layer becomes higher, the optical performance of the prism sheet gets better and the efficiency of the LCD backlight unit is improved. In order to increase the refractive index of the prism layer, the ultraviolet curing type resins were prepared by mixing high refractive index materials containing aromatic groups and the multi-functional reactive diluents. By using 9,9-bis [4-(2-acryloyloxyethoxy)phenyl] fluorene, the refractive index of the prism layer was increased up to 1.58 and the brightness of the backlight unit was improved. Since the light source used in the backlight unit caused the yellowing in the prism sheet and deteriorated the brightness accordingly, the hindered amine light stabilizer was used to improve the yellowing resistance successfully.

  • 본 연구에서는 고휘도 백라이트에 있어서 일반적으로 휘도 향상을 위해서 사용하는 프리즘 혹은 편광프리즘 등의 고가의 기능성 광학시트를 사용하지 않고, 확산시트만을 사용하여 고성능의 BLU 를 제조할 수 있는 핵심부품으로서 프리즘 도광판에 대해서 연구하였다. 고휘도 프리즘 도광판을 구현하는 방법으로 먼저, 광학적으로 시뮬레이션을 통해서 가능성을 검증하고, 기본적인 광학구조의 설계를 수행한 후, 이를 stamper 방식의 사출성형으로 실물을 구현하여 설계의 재현성을 확인하는데 역정을 두었다. 실험결과, 17 inch, 두께 8 mm 사양의 모니터용 도광판에 있어서, 고휘도 BLU를 구현하기 위해서 도광판 밑면과 윗면에 프리즘 구조를 부가한 도광판의 경우에 기존의 인쇄형 도광판보다 약 20%의 휘도향상 효과를 확인할 수 있었으며, 향후 확산시트만을 사용한 고휘도 백라이트로의 응용가능성을 검증할 수 있었다.

A Case of Prismatic Correction for Cyclovertical Heterophoria (회선수직사위의 프리즘 교정 증례)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this case study is to prescribe a prismatic correction in uncommon case of cyclovertical heterophoria. Methods: The prescribed prism was used to balance the vertical vergence break values by the binocular vision evaluation such as phoria, vergence, accommodative function and the others. Results: Although asymptomatic lateral phoria was changed, the vertical prismatic correction improved the symptoms such as eyestrain, headaches, diplopia and others. And cyclophoria was disappeared by prismatic correction. Conclusions: The prismatic correction for this case was useful for alleviating symptoms of cyclovertical deviations.
